Extreemly well! The job was completed in one hour. Surrounding trees and fencing could have posed a problem. Gray Tree Svc brought it down without any problem or damage to the other trees or fence. Disposed of the tree and cleaned up. Got what I paid for!

We were pleased with the pricing on the quote and scheduled the tree removal. They do emergency service and had to reschedule the work, but it was done soon thereafter. The tree was close to our driveway, and all the debris was removed and the area was neat. We also requested a dead limb be removed from a different tree after the initial quote, and they fit that in too. We recommend their service.

My appointment was at 9:30 a.m. and the crew arrived right on time. They first talked to me telling me exactly what they would be doing and if I agreed. It took close to 2 hours to have the work completed. Everything was cleaned up and taken away and I was very pleased with the end result. The crew made sure before they left that the trees were trimmed and shaped to my satisfaction. Later that day the owner, Mr Gardner stopped by to see how things went and I told him I couldn't be more pleased. His crew was very professional, polite and thorough.

It went great. They coordinated with ComEd to temporarilly shut down the power. They had plenty of manpower. They trimmed and or removed 5 trees in an under 2 hours.

Gray was one of the 4 estimates I received, but I chose them because of their follow-through (he called after the estimate AND after completing the job) and professionalism. Also, Rick is a very nice guy, a pleasure to deal with and he met the price of another estimate. They did the job quickly and left no mess. I wish I'd been there when they did the work though, because of a branch that was still hanging over my neighbor's yard. I called Rick about it and ended up agreeing with him that it was best for the tree to leave it. After about a week, I realized that I couldn't leave that branch there--it just really bothered me. I called him again, explaining this & he came by right away and did it without question or complaint. I would definitely recommend this company.

From call to performance of service was just a few days. They left the area very clean and left the mulch in an area of the yard that was out of the way of the cars and didn't kill the grass. They were courteous, professional and thorough.

This is the third tree service I have used and the best to date. They were very professional and business like. I was at work when they did the job and when I came home I found the job perfectly done. The cleanup was so good I could barely find a twig in the lawn. I was extremely pleased.

I found Gray's on Angie's list and their good reviews are deserved. They sent someone out to give me a quote the day after I contacted them and they performed the service a couple of days after that. They did a fantastic job trimming my three story high Silver Maple and left my yard clean. They even cleaned off the roof of my neighbor's garage when they trimmed the branches hanging over there. They even hauled off a heavy branch that fell off during a storm a couple of weeks ago. The price was more than I paid when I used Davey's but the service and the result was superior.

I obtained four estimates for this tree removal. I threw out the high and the low as they seemed unreasonable on both ends of the spectrum. Gray was the higher of the two remaining estimates but was willing to match the lower estimate. My initial conversations with Rick gave me the impression of a professional, capable tree service. When I informed Rick that I had selected Gray to do the job (on a Thursday) he said he would call over the weekend to schedule the work for the coming week and that he would fax a written estimate and have his insurance agent fax me proof of insurance. He didn't call until the next Wednesday and then scheduled the job for the following Wednesday. I did not receive either of the two faxes until I reminded Rick that I had not received them and needed them before they could do the job. The faxes then came through promptly. On the Wednesday of the job, it was threatening rain, so I half expected that the job would be delayed. After a couple of hours waiting to see to if the crew was going to come or not, I called Rick and he said that they were not coming because of the weather and that he would call that coming weekend to re-schedule. I felt I should have received a call telling me that they would have to re-schedule, rather than having to call them to find out whether they were coming or not. I did not receive a call over the weekend, but Rick did call on Monday and scheduled the work for the coming Friday at around noon. Friday, the six man crew led by the foreman Carl arrived on time and went immediately to work. There was no standing around or wondering what to do. Everyone had a specific job to do and they all did it quickly and efficiently. They worked as a single unit. It was clear that their primary concern was safety. Every cut was deliberate and carefully planned and the man with the chainsaw always looked one last time before making his cut to make sure those on the ground were ready and alert. Several branches were extended over a neighbors garage. Those were handled with great care and were removed easily. Upon completion they left the premises clean and neat with no tree debris or other trash anywhere. In summary, the only part of this experience that was less than excellent was slow responses from Rick. I can cut him some slack given the severity of recent storms and the huge amount of tree damage as a result. This has undoubtedly put pressure on all local tree service companies to meet the recent demand. However, once the crew was on site, their performance exceeded my expectations. They were truly superb. I would use Gray Tree Service again without hesitation and recommend them whole-heartedly.

Overall this was a very positive experience. Rick was prompt in delivering an estimate and his price was also the best. I would definitely recommend Gray Tree Service.

Rick contacted us very soon after our initial call and gave us a quote, followed up in writing soon thereafter. He also offered to share with us their insurance and license information. It was reassuring to know Rick was open about this and didn't hide anything. The project was scheduled a few days later. Rick was able to accomodate our request to have the work done during a certain period of the week when one of us were home for the day. We compared Gray's quotation to another Angie's List tree service firm, and two of our neighborhood landscape companies. Gray's quote for the same work was considerably less expensive and they would complete the work sooner. The two local landscape companies we called didn't even bother to look at the job. Carl and his crew arrived on time and ready to work. Carl and I discussed exactly what needed to be done and what my concerns were, then his team went to work. They did the work and checked with me before putting their tools away to confirm everything they did was what we expected. Carl's crew cleaned up all the trimmings and debris before leaving our home. We heard from Rick later that day to confirm that we were happy with the service we received. Overall we were very pleased and plan to use Gray Tree Service in the future.

After contacting Rick Gardner (owner) through Angie's List, I received a call within 1 hour. He arranged to come the next day (and did), and gave me a very fair estimate. When I left a message to accept the quote, I received a return call within 15 minutes. Rick said he would call to schedule a date in the next couple of days. He did call and scheduled a date that was convenient for me. He said they would arrive between 7:45 and 8 AM and they did. Six men came and in about 2 1/2 hours had completed the work, including a very thorough clean up. Rick called a short time later to make sure everything was done the way I wanted it. I was so impressed by every aspect of this company that I didn't even use the coupon I found on Angie's List. They were worth every penny of the full quote. My trees won't need trimming for another 7 years, but I fully intend to recommend Gray Tree Service to everyone I know. I really appreciate a business that does what it says it will and in a very timely manner.

Gray Tree Service did an excellent job removing these large trees located in difficult locations (near a fence line and one close to the house). The work was done very professionally and the yard was clean when they were done.

Rick has been taking care of a once ailing crab tree, which is now fabulous. He also trims, cuts down trees and is extremely competitive with his pricing. We will use him for firewood as well.

Overall, Gray did what the promised for the price promised at the time promised.

Called on Sunday night and I got a return phone call on Monday with a phone estimate to do the work. They were able to come out the same week, and arrived first thing Friday morning at 7:30 am. A crew of about six did the work quickly. I spoke with Carl, who was very professional and patient as we discussed exactly how far to trim back the trees. Both trees look excellent and much more light is coming in the back of my home now. They cleaned up nicely and were on their way. Their bid was the lowest of three, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience.

Everything had gone well and they had cleaned up nicely. They had done an excellent job, and our experience with them was very good.

Approached the crew working at a neighbors, asked for a quote to remove my bushes. Was given a quote since they were there anyway, they were flexible with the price and courteous with the negotiations. They worked hard and fast, cleared the area and cleaned up after themselves. Amazing job! I am incredibly gracious.

He was very prompt. He did everything he said he was going to do. He left the bill in the mail box. The job was very smooth. I felt very secure that I got him off of Angie's List.

I called for a price and was giving a rate of $130.00 for a face cord with delivery. I was then called back a day later by, who I am assuming is the owner, and said the rate would be $195 + $75 for delivery and stacking. His reasoning for the price job was because of city vs. suburb pricing. However, I am located in the suburbs and only a 15 mile straight shot down one road from where they are located. The owner argued with me that he considered my suburb as part of the city. He was very unprofessional and lost a potential frequent customer.

I got a few estimates and the quote from Gray's was much more expensive than the others I received. They quoted $850.00 and I eventually got the work done for $325.00.

We initially contacted them to remove two trees, then decided to keep one and do some of the work ourselves. I believe I contacted them on a Monday, and tree was gone by Wednesday.
