Gray Tree Service

They arrived earlier than expected. Asked what was to be done. They took time to make sure that they understood what I wanted and looked over a neighbors trees that had been done that I wanted to make sure our trees did not look like. At that time five men were present . They looked over they trees from below and proceeded to assemble the equipment that they would need in the back yard. Two men went up into the trees while one man assisted them with their ropes. Two men were on the ground hauling limbs to the chopper. Ladders were moved and two other men came in to help with moving limbs and thinning out one tree. After the five trees were taken down and removed they started to work on thinning out the trees. During this entire process they would ask if what they were doing was what I wanted and they would go half way on some limbs to make sure that they did not remove more then I wanted them to. They explained to me about the 15 to 20 foot clearance that is usually best for trees to overhang a house.

They did a good job which was what I wanted. There was a coupon from Angie’s List. They were very professional and they came on time. I would use them again in the future if needed.

Gray's did a great job. They preformed above our expectations at what we consider a reasonable price. The trees they removed were all over forty years old and close to the house. Our neighbors have commented on the professional work, attitude, cleanliness and care Gray's took in removing the trees.

I bought the coupon and told him that I wanted four trees done. He marked them up on a per tree basis making my coupon pretty much worthless. I paid him the extra money. The coupon is just a way of getting you hooked and he is expensive.

There was a slight issue with scheduling. Rick said they'd arrive at 7:30 but no one showed nor called. When I called him shortly after 8 a.m., he apologized saying that he reshuffled jobs for the day and forgot to call. He promised they would be out the middle of the afternoon later that day and they arrived as stated. The two men who did the job were thorough and careful to protect the perennials in the area where the machine was working to grind the stump. They even dug some out and replanted them so they weren't damaged.

They showed up promptly with a small army of workers and completed all the work in one hour. They did excellent work and I only had to deal with them to write the check at the end of the day. I would definitely recommend them for quick and professional service.

We have gotten many estimates and his was lower than any of the other estimates, so we made an appointment for them to come take down that tree.

Excellent! It is very nice to have someone actually do what they are paid to do, with no "up-selling". Very professional and courteous. 1st visit: Arrived and reviewed my service needs... a tangle of overgrown shrubs and "pest trees" to be removed from slope in back yard. Took about 10 minutes to meet me, survey the situation, and deliver an estimate. He wasn't rushed, just very concise. 2nd visit: Crew arrived on designated day to completed the work. They were very courteous and professional. They removed all the shrubs and trees requested, pulverized them on the spot, and hauled every last scrap away... leaving behind no trace of a mess.

The experience was painless, a fair deal, and happened much sooner than I expected.

We contacted Rick in mid- April asking him to look at two very large (30 ft plus) maple trees in our yard. We were uncertain if we could trim them to achieve more sunlight, or if one of them should be ripped out. He assessed our trees that week and let us know they could be trimmed. The crew came out ASAP (weather was a huge issue in April, as almost every day was stormy and inappropriate for trimming). The crew was quick, efficient and clean! All branches and debris were picked up by the team.

The estimate was given within a few days of initial call and the work was done immediately in accorance with weather.

Firewood was delivered on time and it looks to be good quality.

I contacted Rick via email and he emailed me back and also left a voice mail message to follow up within a day of my original contact, looking to set up a time to do an estimate. He was on time for the estimate and the price he quoted was fair. Within two days of the verbal estimate, he emailed me a written copy and we set up a time for his crew to come out and do the work. The scheduled work date had to be rescheduled due to rain and high winds. It took a total of 3 visits for all of the work to be completed (due to scheduling and weather). The crew did a wonderful job of cleaning up the branches from the yard after each visit. Rick sent me an email after each visit and updated me on what the crew did and what still needed to be done. I am very satisfied with the work that Rick's crew did and with the level of service we received overall. I would definitely hire them again for further tree trimming needs.

They were very prompt. However they were very expensive compared to other service providers.

It was a spruce bush so it took them 20-25 minutes from start to finish. They had their full crew out so it was an easy job for them. Great work!

I called several Tree Services to remove a large Silver Maple tree and Gray Tree Service was the only one that came out the same day I called. Since this tree was close to power lines and less than 7 feet from my house I knew it would be a tougher job. Rick quoted me the best price of all the the "more established" tree services (one start up company gave me a lower quote but I was a little nervous going with a less experienced company since this tree was so close to my house). The crew came right on time and as luck would have it ComEd was early to disconnect the power line to my house (needed to trim/remove the trees by the wires). The crew did a great job taking down the maple, grinding the stump, and removing every loose branch that came down in the process. The crew arrived at about 7:30 and were done by 11:00. The crew then called ComEd to tell them they finished early and requested to re-attach the power line to my house. Well after waiting 4 hours and no ComEd I called them up and they very arrogantly said that sincemy call was just for 1 house that every other call with multiple occupants would take precedent and there was a chance they wouldn't get to my house until the next day! I was starting to panic since my 7 year old would be home from school soon. So out of desperation I called Rick up (realizing this is my problem with ComEd; his crew did their part) and Rick actually called ComEd himself. He got a hold of a supervisor there and was able to ensure that my power was turned on that day. This definitely went beyond the call of duty!

I AM VERY PLEASED WITH GRAYS TREE SERVICE AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. I WAS VERY NERVOUS WITH THE AMOUNT OF TREES THAT HAD GROWN VERY LARGE ON THEIR OWN AROUND MY PROPERTY AND IN SMALL SPACES BETWEEM MINE AND BOTH MY NEIGHBORS HOMES. THEY ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND ABOVE ALL VERY SAFE. THEY ALSO TOOK TIME TO BE NEAT AROUND MY NEIGHBORS HOMES TOO! WE ARE ALL SO HAPPY THIS SPRING AND NOT WORRIED IF ANY STORMS COME THROUGH, AS NO TREES WILL BE FALLING ON OUR ROOFS.

It went well. I liked that they have been in business for quite a while. I wasn't really great with how long it took them to come out from the time they did the estimate. They cleaned up. I don?t know if I would use them again.

Owner was prompt in returning phone call and came out in short order to discuss the job and give me a quote. In less than a week, a crew was on site and completed the job in a professional and efficient fashion. The owner requests the customer be on site when the work is done, so I could consult with the crew manager to ensure the work was done just the way I wanted. The crew chief met with me at the beginning to be sure he understood what I wanted trimmed and then again during the process to be sure I was satisfied. They cleaned up after they were done and I didn't have to do any follow up work myself. If you are looking for a professional job of tree trimming and a price that reflects that commitment, Gray Tree Service is the place to go.

Very prompt with communication. I originally contacted them during the winter and we arranged for them to grind the stump when they were in the area and when it was thawed out. He gave me an email a day or two before and left the invoice under my door. It was smooth and painless. Did a good job with the stump. Cleanup could have been a little better. Outside of that I would recommend fully.

It went great. within one week of contact all of the tress and debris were gone from my backyard. now i can focus on building a deck and fence. thanks rick for your help. i would certainly call Grays for future work.

Excellent work and service attitude, and several special tree trucks equipment. They came back out, because Landcaper told me I needed more large branches for sun to grow grass in the backyard after they performed tree trimming. They performed significant additional trimming without any charge to keep me happy.

Rick and his crew were very professional and customer focussed. They arrived on time and completed a huge task of removing 3 trees very painlessly. The also hauled away all the branches and filled holes with dirt. We had a great experience for a fair price.
