Gray Tree Service

The owner was very fast and responsive in getting a quote back, which we accepted. They had to reschedule once due to the need to get a smaller stump grinder into a tight space. It really didn't take very long to complete the work, and they did a nice job of basic cleanup when they were done. One nice thing that was a nice bonus was they hauled away a few large chunks of wood that had been cut, which was nice to get rid of those as well.

I had a big deal with Gray Tree Service which was going to expire in February of this year. Spoke to the representative and he said we could wait until Spring. I made an appointment. Got voice mail each time I called and it usually took 2 days to get a response. After several communications an appointment was set up. The day of the appointment at the requested time no one showed up. After an hour I called and got voice mail again. Shortly thereafter received a phone call saying he decided not to perform the services because I was too far out of his area. There were several opportunities to tell me this. I was in the same location the whole time and the issue was never brought up. When he called he said he was already out of the office and am assuming on jobs that were more lucrative than dealing with me. He did apologize later by email and I said it was too little too late and he responded by insulting me. I would never deal with him or recommend him to anyone and was not satisfied with Angie's List's reponse to my complaint to them. Work was never performed and I still need a good reliable company if anyone knows of one. His response below is not accurate - did not say that I had lived a fortunate life. He said he hoped that I didn't treat other people the way I was treating him - after his not showing up, not calling and in response to may saying this was a very bad experience. Do not use this company.

They were excellent. We had a coupon, so the charge came up to $600 instead of $1200. We asked him out, and he gave us an estimate. We got the coupon, and everything has worked out great. They were very prompt. They had good flowers. They had a crew of seven guys.

Everything went fine. They came on time and completed the work in a couple of hours.

If I had known how long it was going to take to get them to come out I would have forgone the 99.00 coupon and just contacted someone who could have come out sooner. I had a tree stump that needed removing, (remains of storm damage), that wasn't large, approximately 10" in diameter. My first call to them was on July 3 and they did not come out until July 18. The other complaint I have is that every call goes to voice mail, never to a real person, so you have to wait for someone to call you back. For me, personally, it was too much of a bother for the 101.00 saved with the coupon.On the positive side, the crew that came out to do the work was excellent. Very thorough, efficient, and polite. They did a good job of cleanup when they were done.I don't know if I will use Gray again or not. If turnaround time is a factor, probably not. If I have 3 weeks or a month to get something done, maybe so.

They did a good job. The crew was prompt and efficient. We were pleased.

Everything went well. They showed up on time and performed the work efficiently. They are very professional and courteous. The only thing is that when you call their number, it is hard to get a hold of anyone, unless you choose the option of "emergency tree service" and you may get some live person. I left a message a few times on the "non-emergency" phone option and didn't get response or call back. This may just be a "phone technology" glitch though. But overall I am happy with the work they performed.

Very accommodating and great outcome. Guy arrived to give quote right on time. On the work day the crew swarmed in here with a small army of men and I was fascinated to see how well coordinated they were. I had expected they would be a couple of hours but it took less than one from start to finish.. It's amazing to see the tree-climbing guy doing his thing, swinging from branch to branch with a chain-saw and various clippers.My only complaint (a very small thing) is that I didn't know when they were coming. I was glad I was here because they did need clarification on exactly what I wanted. Overall: good price, great work, fun to watch, very skilled and professional. Hire them. You'll be glad you did.

The large Gray Tree Service crew arrived on time and swooped in with all their chain saws and chipper. They made short work of a big job. I was amazed how well they all worked together. I then learned this crew has been together quite a while, so each man knows his job. Very impressive. I would definitely hire these guys again.

They provided me an estimate for trimming my tree for $750. I asked him to detail the estimate he was very vague and said it was a big tree and because it was in a back yard it would be limited access. I went on Angie's List and found 2 companies to come out within 24 hours and gave me estimates for $425. I think Grays was trying to gain the full value back from the Big Deal I bought.

Had a great experience with this tree removal. I saw the Big Deal special and read all of the reviews, so I called Gray Tree Service. Rick returned my phone call promptly, went out to the property within a day and called back with an estimate. It was a very fair price even without the coupon. I scheduled the service and it was professionally completed. I would not hesitate to recommend or use Gray Tree Service again!

Tree removal and stumping service took less than hour with full crew and equipment. Service was quick, foreman was courteous, and cleanup was good. Overall tree removal service was professional.

It took a while to contact someone at the service but once my husband did, someone visited to see what needed to be done and then scheduled the work. It all went very well in that the work was completed to our satisfaction. The workers cleaned up the site completely and hauled off what they had removed.

We had a very bad storm a couple of years ago and it knocked down our Magnolia tree. Gray was buried with work but made time for us to come and take care of the tree the next day. Workmanship was first rate. They are a little high but it was money well spent.

This company is amazing. We needed a couple of very large trees removed and major trimming on others. A major storm came through West Chicago prompting us to move forward with the work sooner than we expected. This is a rental home and when I arrived at 11:30AM I expected to see them in action and prepared to be entertained thinking they'd still be at it. Much to my amazment they were done and gone. It looked fantastic. I sit here and type this and still cannot believe how fast they got the work done and to perfection!

I told them to come and give me an estimate which they promptly did. I asked for them to come by and perform the work. They performed their work while I was out and cleaned up their work well. Safety hazard removed and the trees look well trimmed.

It went very well - after the estimate I had to apply for a permit from my village, so there was a 2 week delay to get approval. Once approval was received, the work was scheduled within a week and it was completed in a half day. I have used Gray before and was very happy with their work once again.

Went well. My huge locust tree lost a large branch in the wind on Monday. I e-mailed the company. I received a call-back the next day.Rick's dad went out to inspect and give me an estimate the same day.Rick was out of town, but called me to schedule the appointment. We played telephone tag for a few days, but while I was outon Saturday morning the job was completed. The tree looks great, won't be falling on the house any time soon.

I was very satisfied with the work done by Gray Tree Service and the price made available through the Angie's List Big Deal, which was a net of $498. My neighbor was also very impressed with the way the work was done and asked Rick for a quote for some work he wanted done.

I've had Gray Tree Service do many jobs for me over the years, and I've been remiss about submitting reviews until now. Rick's dad did the estimate; he arrived early, called me to let me know he was at my house, and waited for me to get there. On the day of the job, they sent 7 men who were extremely fast, professional, and thorough. Trees were removed and stumps ground down in no time at all. I've always been very satisfied with Gray Tree Service!

Bought the Angie's List coupons for tree trimming. My call was returned quickly and the appt was set up at a time convenient for me. They were prompt and efficient. I thought they did a great job - very professional - and cleaned up everything as well.I was pleased with the service it was also fascinating to watch them work.

I was drawn to Gray Tree service by an Angie's List Big Deal. I was in need of a tree trimming as one large tree in my yard was resting it's branches on both the house and garage roof. My call for an estimate was returned quickly and the appointment was setup at a convenient time. As the tree hadn't been trimmed in a long time, it was due for a major trimming. We discussed what exactly would be done and agreed upon the price. The work date was set for a few weeks out and I did not have to be home at the time. Turns out I wasn't, and if it wasn't for the trimmed tree, I wouldn't have known they were there! They did a great job and cleaned up very well. The work was done after the leaves had fallen last season, and now that they've come back, I can tell that the tree looks much healthier after it's maintenance. Overall a good experience with good results!

Rick came out and did an estimate very quickly and his team was able to come out within a week even though they seemed busy.They performed the work quickly and cleanly. Price for this work is excellent, I will definitely call them again for this type of work.

I got home from work the trees were trimmed beautifully and the yard was cleaned up, I was overwhelmed at how my back yard looked and how professionally the trees were trimmed. The birds are going crazy this morning, they love the trees too...Gray's Tree Service (Josh) knew exactly what the trees needed, the knowledge and expert 'tree talk' reassured me of his professionalism. I will definitely call and refer them to all my family and friends!! Thank you!
