Gray Tree Service

On Thursday July 31, 2014, I requested an estimate to remove a large Maple tree. On Friday August 1, 2014 an estimator came to my house and gave me an estimate. On Saturday August 2, 2014, I accepted the estimate and was scheduled. On August 14, 2014, Gray Tree Service showed up at 7:45 am with a crew of 8. The tree was down by 9:45 am. The tree stump was removed by 2:00 pm. My yard was cleaned up completely. Gray Tree Service did an excellent job. .

I had 1 large tree fall in the wind. It blocked part of my drive. Rick responded the same day I called. I asked him to remove the fallen tree and a large pine next to my pool. He stated he could get it done on or before Saturday (4 days). In fact the work was started and completed on Thursday. His price was a little higher then 2 other estimates I received just before he did the work. I must say the work was quick, clean, exactly as I asked, and the area was left spotless. I was concerned about the pine near the pool damaging the fence and lawn as it feel. There was no sign, not even a mark left in the lawn where the tree feel. I will use them again.

They were excellent and they cleaned the area.

This was an example of false advertising. If there were qualifying circumstances they should have been presented in the promotion. I would not have paid for it had I known there were circumstances under which they would not remove a tree stump. I am very disappointed.

I used the Angie's coupons to purchase tree removal for two apple trees in our backyard that were way past their primes. The total cost would have been $800 but with the coupons it was $600. They showed up when they said they would and took the trees down and stump-ground very quickly -- there were lots of guys there but it was very coordinated and professional. I have more trees that should probably be trimmed and/or cut down, and I will definitely call them again as soon as we get the money together for more tree work.

Showed up without appointments -- luckily we were home. Sent an invoice for the completed work, which left me with a $100 of services. When I asked him to come out and do $100 more work, he said the invoice was wrong even though it matched the price he quoted my mom. He did come out a second time and do more work, but was ugly about it.

Went well. Got an estimate that was higher than expected. Went with another company.

They did a fantastic job of removing the large sections of this very tall tree which hung over the house, and did it all without any damage to the house. They also trimmed the rest of the tree to balance it out. They had two climbers who were doing the trimming and several workers on the ground. When they were done, they cleaned up well and even blew the sawdust off the roof. It was a huge job, more than an average trimming, and the tree looks great. I had purchased two of the "$99 for $200 Gray Tree Service Bucks." So I paid the $198 plus $600 for a total of $798. I would hire them again. I highly recommend them.

No work arranged but responded fast to request for quote via AL message. I would use in future.

There were nine men who completed the trimming and clean-up in about three hours. Their work was efficient using safety precautions at all times. I am extremely pleased

Gray Tree service was responsive to my requests. The trees were trimmed and shaped to our satisfaction. They left the area very clean. I thought the whole experience was very good and I will use them again for other tree trimming we need done.

These guys showed up the day that I called them - unlike comed whose wire the tree was precariously near. They gave me a quote - not cheap but totally reasonable. They came back the next day - the tree was gone and there was no evidence of it by the time I got home from work. These guys are fast, responsive and worth the price.

Rick came out within a couple of days to provide an estimate at my daughter's house. He was friendly and professional. We were planning to cut the tree down as it was in bad shape. However, Rich advised the tree was in good health and a good pruning and trimming would be best. We went with his recommendation and it looks great! Work was done in timely manner. The property was cleaned up so well one would hardly know he was there except that the tree looked great! Rick also gave me a bid to trim back a 30+ old tree overhanging my property line. The price was reasonable. However, another expense came up that required me to defer doing the work. I'd highly recommend Grey Tree Service.

Someone came out to provide an estimate. The gentleman who arrived was not pleasant and the estimate was far more expensive than expected. In essence, the two coupons we purchased would not even cover trimming a single, small tree.

They showed up a few days after I purchased the coupons. They had a crew of guys, climbed the trees, cut off the branches, carted away all the debris, didn't damage anything and were done in an hour or two. It was all done very professionally. With this said, the communication could have been better. They originally told me they were going to show up on a particular day and then they showed up a few days earlier. Also, no one knocked on the door to tell me they were there nor to confirm the work to be done. I just saw them in my yard climbing the trees and cutting off branches. As for the specific work, they did exactly what I wanted with the honey locust hanging over my house but missed the mark on the maple hanging over my neighbor's yard. I mean, they did a nice job trimming both trees but I wanted to trim the maple so it didn't hang over the neighbor's yard. If they had asked me what I wanted when they showed up to do the work, I have no doubt they would have done a great job. They just never asked.

I did not use this service.

The 200 of "bucks" is not a savings when they quote you $400 for a small job. Unfriendly as well. It's supposed to be a deal! Contact others for a better comparison .

It was pretty good. They were here on time. He was responsive.

Rick from Gray's came out and looked at our tree and said that performing any pruning would not help our situation and he would recommend total removal which would cost $5000. that is not in our budget and we hate to take down an old but relatively healthy tree just because a few branches have fallen down.

I called for an estimate and within two days received a call back that they had been out to look at the tree and had a quote. I called to approve the job and was told they'd be out next week, the week of June 2. It was disappointing to return from vacation on June 17th to see that it hadn't been done nor had I received any contact from the company. The tree had to be trimmed by a certain date for a party we're hosting, so I left a message asking if Gray would still come out or if I should to start over with a new company. Rick called back promptly and apologized that they didn't make it out when they said due to higher priority issues that came up, but they would definitely be out in four days. The very next day they arrived around noon and the job took 1-1.5 hours. They left my back yard cleaner than they found it, and the tree looks perfect. I would have preferred to be informed that our job was getting delayed by two weeks, but even so I was mostly pleased with the company and would hire them again.

Mr. Gardner came out to look at my tree that needed to be taken down back in November or December. We discussed cost and payment options using the coupon to pay part of the cost. We also spoke of a refund through Angie's list should I chose not the remove the tree. We decided not to take the tree down and hence did not need the service. I contacted Mr. Gardner who graciously agreed to the refund. He was a pleasure to work with him and I would highly recommend him and appreciated his professionalism.

Rick, one of the owners, was extraordinarily responsive. I originally contacted him via the Angie's List website, and he returned my call that weekend, even though it was Memorial Day! He continued to keep in contact regarding when I could expect him to give me an estimate, when his crew could perform the services, etc. I have not ever experienced a service organization that was so on-the-spot with phone calls and it was appreciated. The crew of 6 came and performed all the services in under an hour, cleaning up all the debris reasonably well afterwards. My only non-A rating was because (having been in business myself for years) and a written estimate and written instructions to his crew might be a tad more professional. In all, Rick and company did a great job.
