 + -1 moreThese guys are TERRIFIC! I've used ARX before and Scott really helped with a laptop that had gone South. And this time Ted helped me out with flying colors. Both men are very smart and easy to work with. They make it so convenient to get service by coming right out to my home. Ted was out here within hours of calling! The first attempts to fix the computer happened right here at home. In this most recent case that was enough for Ted to get things up and running again. Last time with Scott, a different laptop needed a new hard drive, so he took the machine with him. He returned it to me again very quickly and functioning great. ARX is a great resource for either home or business computer users.
Description of Work: Identified problem with laptop that would no longer connect to the internet.

 + -1 moreMy computer wasn't able to access the Internet and had constant debugging messages. When I went to Scott's home he met me at the car, I didn't have to get out of a nice warm car, very nice curb service. Scott was able to correct the problem and saved me money by installing free spy ware/security software. I'm not computer savvy, but he took the time to explain what was wrong and how he repaired it.
Description of Work: Repaired computer-able to access Internet and no debugging messages.

Description of Work: Scott took our two infected hard drives and made sure the spyware was removed. In addition, he suggested a free spyware program that works ,as well as , a program that we paid for in the past. He was always accessible by phone and was timely in returning phone calls This is a company that anyone should take advantage of. He made excellent suggestions for both of our machines.

 + -1 moreI called Scott Davidson about a problem downloading video which he was able to clarify with two quick e-mails. It did not require a service call and he did not charge me anything. His response was quick, professional, and friendly. If I need a service call in the future I now know where to go. In addition his website has valuable information on a number of computer issues including where to download an excellent free anti-virus program.

Description of Work: I had lost my wireless connection and my husband was having trouble getting his new computer set up. Scott came out within one day and fixed mine and came back the next day to set husbands. A total of 2 hours was spent. Scott was very professional and gave us a $10 discount as we used Angie's list to get his name.

 + -1 moreSince I was so pleased with my service the past 2 times, Scott was the technician, I was a little concerned when someone other than Scott was scheduled, but Ted was great too. Just like Scott, he was punctual, extremely courteous & informative, patiently answering all my computer questions. Scott encouraged me to email him whenever I had a question or problem with my computer or service. I took him up on his offer several times. He answers my emails quickly & informatively. Another great thing about Scott is that he sends out a newsletter filled with tips & updates about computers. All 3 computers are up & running & I know ARX is just an email away should I run into any problems or concerns.
Description of Work: We were given a used computer to replace an old one. I have 3 working computers in our home & was rotating the computers into different areas of the house. That's when I called Scott @ ARX to help me get all 3 computers set-up & working properly with the internet. Ted: 1)connected a laptop to the internet, which I was having trouble doing, 2)set-up the newest desktop computer, including internet connection, monitor, printer & tower, 3)set-up another computer that was moved from one room to another ... getting the sound to work (which I was unable to do) and set-up the internet connection, monitor, printer & tower, 4)removed some files & documents I wanted from the computer I was discarding & put them on a flash drive for me to keep, 5)answered a list of (probably silly) computer questions.

 + -1 moreScott was a pleasure to work with and a professional from the beginning. He was always quick to return phone calls and emails and would even check in with me if he hadn't heard anything from me in a while. His prices are more than fair and I would recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: I had ongoing problems with my desktop caused by a bad motherboard. Many components of the computer were affected (RAM, hard drives, etc) and had to be replaced.

 + -1 moreIt took a few days to make the service call. In the meantime, the printer started working again so I ordered a replacement printer through them. They bought a printer for me through e-B (that was fine) but then there was an $80 service call on delivery day plus a charge for doing some clean-up on the pc. The $80 was way too much for a local service call.
Description of Work: My printer was frozen and I asked for someone to take a look at it.

 + -1 moreScott responded promptly to my initial call and set up an early date. He came out on the scheduled date and got my desktop working well within a few minutes. After returning my laptop with the new hard drive, he checked to be sure that it was connected to my internet network and that I could reach the internet through it. He even helped me to get a game software suite back that I had purchased without a CD through a download. He reduced his price a bit because he was a day late in bringing back the laptop and also honored the new customer discount. All in all, he was very reasonable and professional.
Description of Work: The electric power was cut off during a recent electrical storm and it knocked out my desktop computer. When the power was restored the computer responded sluggishly. And within a couple of days, my laptop computer would not boot up and gave a very strange message. I contacted ARX to fix both problems. Scott Davidson checked my desktop and corrected the BIOS problem to make the computer react normally. He then checked the desktop computer and felt that I had a hard drive failure. This required that he take the desktop and give it a full diagnostic at his office to be certain. It was a failed hard drive and he replaced it. This computer is also now performing properly.

Description of Work: Scott transferred data from my old desktop to a new laptop. The old computer was not working at all. It would not even turn on. He was able to transfer all information with no problem. He also did a variety of things related to the set-up of my new computer.

 + -1 moreI sent an email requesting service and got a reply within minutes. The technician that came was very personable and made us feel that we weren't "stupid." He finished very quickly, and there have been no issues since he came. In addition they took $10.00 off the total with an Angie's list coupon. I would recommend them without hesitation and would definitely use them in the future if necessary.
Description of Work: They updated our Anti-Virus software, reconnected our router, made sure my laptop could talk to our desktop, got our web-cam to work, explained how to video conference, and were able to get the microphone to work with a spectrograph program.

I called on a Friday while he was out of town for a wedding, and he made a point to fit me in first thing Monday. He quickly diagnosed the motherboard problem, and began assisting me recover my data. He provided useful shopping tips from his website, and patiently explained the steps he took and I learned a few things over the 90 minute visit. I strongly recommend his services!

 + -1 moreIt was excellent - the price was fair. They are very supportive people. He charges $60 an hour if you take the computer to him and $80 if he comes to you. I took mine in to save a little money. He was reliable about when he would call with an estimate and when I could pick it up.
Description of Work: They discovered that my computer had a dissective laptop memory, and replaced the dissected memory stick and as a result, also had to reinstall my software.

 + -1 moreI have used Scott many times at work and home. He always fixes the problem unless it ultimately proves to be irreparable. He also can repair your computer from his remote location by a screen-sharing process he can explain better. I also call Scott for over-the-phone service at $60/hr or portions thereof. That comes in handy in emergencies when I have to fix it now. I highly recommend his service.
Description of Work: Scott worked on three computers. My wife's wireless laptop would not communicate w/ the printer; my laptop keyboard froze, and we set up a backup computer and transferred all info. to it while factory warranty repaired my laptop.
