I found Kevin on Angies List and emailed through the AL site. He responded immediately with a quote and scheduled a time. Moved a baby grand in a driving snow storm. Beautiful set up and made sure all was OK. I wouldn't call anyone else to handle my pianos!

Kevin' gave me a 2 hour window when the piano would be moved. I received a call letting me know when they were 10 minutes away. They moved the piano into our basement, doing a great job maneuvering down the staircase with ease and thoughtfulness. The movers know what they are doing , they were punctual, and easy to work with. Worth the money to have a job done right.

Kevin said he would pick up the piano between 9-11am, and then deliver it to my house. At 9:50 he called me to say he was 5 minutes away from my house, with the piano. It turned out that the person who was supposed to be at my house to accept it was not there. Kevin waited patiently at my house for about 20 minutes, while I made multiple phone calls. He told mehad very little time, since he had another piano move scheduled, and needed the equipment currently tied up with my piano for the next move. Through it all he was polite and professional. I managed to find someone who could open my house and accept the piano, and the rest took about 35 minutes. I highly recommend Kevin's Piano Movers- they are punctual, professional, and the lowest price of the several that I spoke with.

They were prompt, and moved anything out of the way that might be in the way. They moved the piano across my hardwood floors, out the front door, and down the steps. They then put everything back where it was. It took less than 10 minutes from start to finish, and they guys were great.

Kevin's young helpers are sweet and helpful. He, however, is another story. I was quoted $300.00 for this move. It ended up being NEARLY double. But forget about that for a moment.... KEVIN PUT A HOLE IN MY WOOD FLOOR WHILE MOVING THE PIANO. HIS RESPONSE TO ME WAS THAT HE "CAN'T BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WAY THE BUILDING WAS BUILT". THIS WAS THE SAME DAY THE NEW BUYER WAS HAVING A WALK THROUGH ON THE POTENTIAL SALE OF THE CONDO. HE MADE NO EFFORT TO APOLOGIZE OR MAKE REPARATIONS. THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO FIND A VENDOR TO COME AND FIX THE FLOOR THE SAME DAY FOR A WHOPPING $500.00. THE WORST PART WAS THAT KEVIN, AS THE BUSINESS OWNER TOOK NO RESPONSIBILITY. I BELIEVE HE FIGURES THAT BECAUSE I AM A WOMAN I WILL SIMPLY BACK DOWN AND NOT MAKE WAVES. Yet another glaring error in Kevin not knowing his customer..... BEWARE THIS VENDOR! He carries 2 million dollars in insurance that he apparently doesn't use.... The only reason he escaped all F's is because his workers were so kind.

Response from KEVIN'S PIANO MOVING INC
The price of $300.00 that was quoted was for a "grand" piano in Hyde Park-Chicago to be picked up from customers building with small 5ftx5tx7ft tall elevator where it had to be up ended to fit into the elevator and brought to our storage facility for delivery at later date. The piano ended up being a 7'0" concert grand that I did not charge extra for by the way. A week later when the customers new home in Kenilworth was finished we delivered and positioned accordingly to customer satisfaction. So there was a storage fee of $50.00 and a first floor delivery fee of $225.00 to deliver it from our storage facility to new home in Kenilworth. That was discussed when the move was set up in early May. Customer knew they would have 2 moves and a storage fee. As far as the broken board in the floor. I was there personally and saw it happen. We were wheeling the piano down the interior hallway going towards the elevator and one of our dolly wheels went thru one of the hardwood boards. Upon inspection that section of hallway had no subflooring installed at all. Totally hollow under hardwood. It is unfortunate that the floor was installed incorrectly but We cant be responsible for an incompetent contractor or handy man. I have been moving pianos for over 25 years now. We strive for total customer satisfaction.

I left a message during the day to schedule a move and Kevin called me back that evening. We schedule a window between 12 and 2 on March 20, 2014. I tried to call to get an approximate time of arrival the morning of the scheduled move, but I got their answering machine. It was after 2 when I called the office again. I left a message this time asking how they were running. At 2:20 I received a call from Kevin stating that they were coming from the city and they were running late. I kindly told Kevin that they should probably give their clients a phone call earlier in the day if they know they were running behind. I said that many of the delivery people that I use leave a cell phone number so the client can contact them if there is a problem. Kevin seemed extremely irritated that I said that. They finally arrived and were a little standoffish at first, but then seemed fine. We had our floors refinished and I thought we had left on good terms, but evidently not. I called to have my piano moved back and he is not returning my calls. Extremely unprofessional.
Description of Work: Literally moved my piano 20 feet from the living room to the front hall so I could have my hardwood floors refinished.

I spoke to Kevin to arrange the pickup. He was fun to talk to and true to his word. The movers arrived between 10am and noon, as promised. They had a hard time getting it over the mound of snow next to the stairs. With diligence and patience they got it in, without a scratch. They inspected their work to ensure all was good and I was very happy with their efforts. Great guys!

We had to reschedule due to the snow and extreme temperatures in Chicago. Kevin was great to deal with, easy to set an appointment with, flexible, and friendly. His staff was punctual and did a great job. They moved the piano up an outdoor staircase in the snow and ice with shocking speed!

From the first phone call with Kevin, everything went so smoothly. He thoroughly and clearly explained the moving process, gave tips on placing the piano in our new home, and promptly scheduled our move. He was on time and professional on the day of service. Kevin and his team were very careful with the instrument, and also with placing it on the wood floors in our home. His suggestion of where to place the piano was also very helpful, and ended up being much better than our initial thoughts on the matter. I highly recommend Kevin, and will use him again if need be.

Nice work. very fast and smooth. They moved my upright piano from a garden style apartment to a 2nd floor town house. There are 7 stairs in apartment and 13 stairs in the townhouse. I thought it would be difficult but it turn out it is pretty easy for them. Only two people and it is done. Definitely will use them in the future.

It went exceedingly well, starting from the very first, promptly returned phone call. When I left another message on a Sunday afternoon to confirm that we, indeed, needed the piano moved by the next day (because of a lease situation), he returned the call Sunday night - having just checked his messages from that Sunday afternoon. They were able to move it the next day and phoned me when in the vicinity so I could meet them. They handled the 1940s Knabe piano with intelligent, careful dexterity. He even helped me determine better its age, having over 20+ years' experience moving only pianos. He and his assistant took great care with the instrument moving over steps on our landing and into our home - equally so moving it out of a 6th floor condo unit (via elevator.) He was friendly, insightful, and patient even though we were his last customer of the day. They've been around 20+ years for good reason, and I highly recommend them!

These guys are fantastic from the word "Go". Kevin was prompt & professional. Got a date squared away immediately. The guys showed up on time, were friendly, super-efficient, and *careful*. Got the piano over to the other place and set just where I wanted it. Here is the thing every person moving a piano wants to hear: NO dents, scratches, dings, bangs, scrapes... *nothing*. Smooth as silk. Would highly recommend these guys to anyone. If you're moving a piano, give them a call.

We moved to new house in the weekend and I was busy unpack and totally forgot the piano move was scheduled in Monday. Kevin's crew called, left multiple messages along the way to my previous house. Since I left my cell phone upstairs and land phone is not connected yet, none of those messages reached to me. After they waited in my previous house for about hour they drove over to my new house to knock the door and I am very impressed with their passion to take care the customer. The move was very smooth and within a hour, they were able to more two pianos (on baby grand and one upright) I am so glad we have selected Kevin to move our piano. Thank you very much!

We contacted Kevin about moving a piano because of his good reviews on Angie's List. He called us back promptly and gave me a quote over the phone. Having not had a piano moved in quite a while, I experienced a bit of "sticker shock" upon hearing the cost, but I could definitely see from other reviews on Angie's List that Kevin's price was fair. The homeowner at the pick-up site had limited availability; she gave a two hour window on two separate days for Kevin to get the piano. Thankfully, Kevin was able to schedule us on one of those days. Due to an earlier job being cancelled, Kevin called us on the day of the move to request picking up the piano earlier. Ordinarily, this would have been great for us, but the person at the pick-up site was at work and could not get home until the agreed-upon time. Kevin remained unruffled and just did the job as planned. (I totally understand why he wanted to pick the piano up earlier. It was the day before the 4th of July and traffic was building rapidly!) When Kevin and his partner dropped the piano off at our house, they put the felt floor protectors that we had purchased under the wheels because our floors were refinished a few months ago. We paid Kevin with a personal check. Prior to leaving, Kevin also (upon request) recommended a few good piano tuners in our area. He advised us to let the piano acclimate to the new conditions in our home for about a month before calling a tuner. I bought this piano in 1973 and had loaned it to an ex-student years ago so her young children could learn to play. It has sentimental value, and my daughter would like to have it for her children some day. I was worried that the piano would not make the trip home safely. I was extremely pleased that everything went without a hitch!
Description of Work: Moved an upright spinet piano from 6400 south/ 1300 east in Chicago to 8000 north / 2800 west in Evanston. Piano situated by front door of house at pick-up site with about 8-10 open air front steps straight down to sidewalk. Piano to be dropped off inside front door at house in Evanston with 3 steps up to front porch from sidewalk.

His team, lead by Justin, were professional and courteous. They had the piano packed and ready to move super fast too. I bought the the subscription to Angie's list just to find a piano mover. It was one of the best investments I could have made.

I needed to move a piano from a friend's townhouse in the south loop (near UIC) to my house in morton grove (both first floor locations). Every communication with Kevin was very pleasant -- he is a very nice guy. Their quote was lower than anyone else, too. It was very easy to schedule an appointment, and he showed up when he was expected. The piano arrived in one piece, no damage at all -- it took them maybe 5 minutes to get the piano off their truck and into my house where I wanted it. No problems at all, I'd definitely recommend them and/or use them again in the future.
