Experience spanning four counties
Choose our twenty-five years experience when you need emergency plumbing. We're even licensed, bonded, and insured for your security. If you live in Lake, Cook, McHenry, or DuPage counties, why would you turn to any other plumbing service?
On December 19, 2011 I received a call from my father-in-law, Joseph Tarnoff, requesting that I help him locate a good plumber as he had a damaged sewer pipe. I researched some plumbers on Angie’s List, I called three plumbers and requested quotes. Two mailed their quotes the third, “ALL CLEAR Sewer & Drainage, Inc., asked to drop it off instead of e-mailing it—as I had told them we were leaving town for a vacation the next day. Their representative, Brad, gave me a contract with limited written detail, but added details verbally. He said that we needed to get started on this right away as (1) the ground could freeze which would make the price go up (2) if the damage grew worse and went under the road the road could collapse, which could result in a lawsuit if someone or their car were harmed. As the three prices were similar, it was his verbal assurance and insistence that the entire cost would be covered by our home owners insurance, that he would personally talk to the adjustor, that he knew how to talk to the adjustor so that there would be no confusion as to how this was a covered item. He was very convincing and in retrospect it is understandable why he wanted to hand deliver his contract. I signed a contract and paid the full amount of $6000 in advance, which was to cover: *digging up ground *replace up to 25 feet of Main sewer pipe *from flood control to city curb *video inspect all remaining sewer line *install PVC pipe compliant with city code *restoring parkway *5 year guarantee on all pipe work performed I asked that the company not disturb our elderly Father-in-Law—he is 98 years old--that if they incurred any difficulties to please call me or my brother-in-law, who would be in town. They began work within just a few days and as soon as they dug open a big hole in the front yard they knocked on my Father-in-Laws door and told him there would be an additional charge of $8,000 (which would have brought the total cost to &14,000) or they could not proceed. After my Brother-in-Law got involved the price came down to $9500, just an additional $3500, and he thought he was getting a deal. I believe that ALL CLEAR Sewer & Drainage, Inc. took advantage of my elderly Father-in-Law while I was out of town. Furthermore, the information that he gave me regarding the insurance claim was a total lie. He did not assist with the insurance claim, the insurance claim was denied and the owner, Tom Patton, said that it was against policy to get involved with an insurance claim, even though the second contract that was given to my Father-in-Law has it written in that they would assist with filing a claim. This company is totally untrustworthy! Sincerely, Carol Tarnoff
Description of Work: *Yard was dug up*Damaged pipe was replaced (far less than 25 feet)*Work area was within limits of original contract (from flood control to city curb)*Sewer pipe was installed and met Village of Glencoe's approval*Pipes were covered with soil*Sod was replaced in June I authorized the work and paid for the work based on an original contract of $6000. With the request that they not disturb my elderly Father-In-Law. While I was out of town they went directly to him and tried to get an additional $8000 for a job that was paid in full. A Brother-in-law that was in town interceeded and thought he did a good job by bringing the price down to only an additional $3500. They did not help with the insurance claim as they had originally offered.

Response from All Clear Sewer Drainage & Plumbing Inc
On or about Dec. 25, 2011, All Clear Sewer and Drainage was called to provide an estimate for a sewer repair to be performed at 1192 Fairfield, Glencoe, Il. The Village of Glencoe had informed The Tarnoffs that they had discovered a break in the line after introducing a dye into the line by pouring it into the hole that had developed in the yard near the parkway and told them that it was their problem to repair. Our technician, Brad Noyes, was dispatched to the location to prepare the estimate. Mr. Noyes looked at the job and determined the amount to make the repair would be $6,000. Due to the fact that Member was leaving town on vacation, All Clear agreed to deliver the estimate and discuss making the repair with her and her husband. The estimate was delivered, discussed and accepted by the Member. The contract was signed and the work was scheduled to begin on Dec. 27. At that time, Mr. Noyes suggested to Member that perhaps she seek assistance for payment through her homeowner’s insurance. He also said that he would answer any questions he could for the insurance company to aid the Member. Thomas Patton, the owner of All Clear Sewer and Drainage, explained to Member that company policy was only to aid the customer, not to become involved in claim disputes. The excavation revealed a much bigger problem than was originally expected. We uncovered the “washed-out” pipe and realized that not only the sanitary line had been washed-out but also the storm sewer that was on private property was washed-out as well. In addition, the city’s storm sewer was also washed out. At this point, we tried to contact all of the persons who were involved with the repair. We were unable to reach anyone except Member, the resident of the property. We explained to him what would be involved in completing the repair and quoted an additional cost of $8,000. The job was put on hold until we could further discuss the problem with the Members. Mr. Patton then spoke to Member and came to an agreement that we would complete the repair for an additional $3,500., well below the quoted price, in an effort to finish the job and avoid any more problems. The price was again agreed upon, another contract was drafted and signed, and the work was completed. In an effort to satisfy the customer, Mr. Patton asked for only $3,000. instead of the $3,500. that was agreed upon. The Village of Glencoe provided us with the material to perform their repair, allowing us to lower the total price of the job. Ultimately, All Clear had to repair 3 lines; the Village’s storm sewer, the homeowner’s sanitary and also the homeowner’s storm sewer. All Clear Sewer and Drainage’s opinion is that this complaint is completely without merit. Member has described our company’s actions as untrustworthy and some of the statements as patently false. She also has suggested that we tried to “prey” on her elderly fatherin- law by waiting until she was out of town to inform them that the job was going to cost more. These statements are not only false, but they also imply that All Clear has engaged in dishonest business practices. As Member herself states in the letter,”After my brother-in-law got involved the price came down to $9500.” which clearly shows that we waited to speak to members of the family before continuing the work and in no way “took advantage” of anyone. We have worked extremely hard to attain our A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and also our good reputation on Angie’s List and highly value both of them. We would never jeopardize either of them. This job was performed in the best and most efficient manner possible. The additional cost was due to existing problems that were, quite frankly, unforeseeable. Nothing this company did was IN ANYWAY less than completely honest. We take offense to the statements made by Member regarding our company’s practices. The job in question was worth $14,000., and All Clear performed the work for substantially less to both finish the job and earn a new customer. As to the insurance claim, we DID attempt to aid in the process and were told by the agent that we had no business trying to involve ourselves in a matter that was none of our concern. All Clear Sewer and Drainage, Inc. not only admits no wrongdoing in this matter, but also is offended by the allegations levied by Member. Hopefully, this complaint will do NO damage to our reputation and will allow us to continue to serve our valued customers.

I called on a Tuesday to see if someone could come out the next day. They said between 2 and 3 and they came right on time. They quoted me $70 and that was the final cost. It didn't take them very long to fix the problem and they suggested a power rod if we continue to have problems.

This is the second time I've used All Clear for rodding our sewer out. First time was back in February for a cleanout of the sewer from the cleanout back to the main stack in the house. I liked their prompt response, quality of the work and the price. Today was no different as an extensive rodding was done to clear tree roots out which invade the line between the cleanout and city main. They arrived a bit earlier than scheduled, and finished quicker than they estimated! When they were done I got to inspect their work as they pushed the camera down the line to make sure the job was complete. I am more than pleased with them!

They scheduled a time to come out the very next day. They called the scheduled day and told me the estimated time. They were running behind that day and called to let me know. I thought that was very courteous. The two men showed up and started to work right away. Really nice and friendly guys. In a half hour, they cleared the drain and off they went. It was one of the best service calls we have had on Angie's List. And the price was awesome. We are going to call this company again for any sewer / plumbing issues.

I contacted All Clean on a Wednesday and made an apt for Saturday between 8 and 11 am. They called at 8 and said that they will be here in twenty minutes. By 8:20 they were here. The initial quote was for $70 but that was just for running a 3" cutter and followed with a camera. They found roots the first time so Bill suggested to power rod again using a 4" cutter and work up to a 6" to get the pipe completely clean They ran the camera at the end to make sure that they got all of the roots. I viewed the live video from the camera and Bill explained everything that he saw. It took them about 45 minutes and they charged me $225 with the 10% discount from Angies list. Now I will try and stay on their maintenance program and do this every year. To do it every year they quoted me $125 to $150. They will call every year to remind me.
Description of Work: The company that I used in the past went out of business. Thanks to Angies List I found All Clean from Antioch. I have a clean out pipe for my sewer line that I had installed about 5 years ago. I knew that I was overdue for cleaning out the sewer line since it has been about 3 years. Bill from "All Clean" power rodded the sewer line with a 3" cutter followed with a camera. They found roots the first time so they followed with a 4" cutter and worked up to a 6" cutter. They were cautious and followed each cutter sweep with a camera.
Originally called to rod and visually inspect the sewer drain from the in-house clean-out to the street. When they could not reach the street due to the number of turns, they installed an outside clean-out, routed, flushed, and inspected drain to the house and street. Although drain work is messy they did try to minimize the mess and disruption. There is some cleanup and landscaping work left that they do not do. I would not want to go through this again but would call All Clear if it was necessary. Everyone was very professional.

Rodded main sewer line and provided a 30-day warranty. Recommended extensive rodding with bigger cutter blades to clear tree roots properly. Basement floor drain began backing up again the first week of April. Called them back to perform the recommended extensive rodding. Plans to write another review after that job is completed.

Saturday call, showed up in about an hour. Sump/grinder/ejector pump died, spilling out into basement. Tristan and his co-worker were knowledgable and courteous. They knew right away what the problem was and gave us a price within five minutes. Final price was same as quote. Completed the job in a very timely manner. All around nice guys. No pressure, no upsell, didn't keep "finding problems" like so many contractors do. I think I've found my new plumbers.

It went extremely well, they stayed till the job was done as they knew we were going out of town soon.
Description of Work: We have had massive flooding in our basement a number of times. We had in the past used US Waterproofers to try and rectify the situation. After this past rain, where our sump pump back up failed to work (because of gravel in the pump) we chose not to use them again, as they "couldn't figure out why things were not working." I called All Clear they came out (for free) spent 30min looking around, sorting it out, and discussing what they would do. It took a few days to get it sorted out, when they came, they started the work, realized it would take more then what was orginally discussed. The owner came out, discounted the price a bit, and finished the work in one day. The work entalied puting in new risers, drain pipes, and stand pipes, as well as going into the concrete floor and foundation to connect it all to the sump pump. We won't know if the problem was solved until the next heavy rain, but for the first time, they took the time to discuss options, really problem solve, and realize that US Waterproofers and bandaged the situation and realized that a major drain, was NOT conncected to the sump pump (which is what All Clear fixed).

We were experiencing backup through our shower drain. After trying a few things, we noticed that as we ran water in one of the bathroom sinks, it seemed to be causing the water to back up in the shower. First thing next morning (about 8:00) I called All Clear to have someone come out and take a look at . They let me know that someone could probably come out between 11:00-1:00 if that was alright as they were on another job. About 8:30 or so, the worker called and said they were finishing up the other job and could come over to us next if we wanted. Since they weren't too far away, they arrived about 20 minutes later. I escorted them to the bathroom in question and we ran the water in the different sinks to check the backup in the shower and they could tell right away that there was probably a buildup along the draining system. Pipes were rodded out quickly and efficiently. Workers left the area very clean. They were careful to wear shoe covers as they walked through the bedroom to the bathroom, so as not to dirty the carpet. Afterwards they gave me some tips regarding the drains and I did have them check a different bathroom for possible rodding as well. After seeing the flow rate of the water down the drain, they said it wasn't needed. I appreciated their honesty. We have a one year guarantee on their work, otherwise we get one free rodding. Nice work. I would recommend.

They did an incredible job. They were great. Their friendliness was great. Their after clean up was mediocre. They did a wonderful job with everything else. They were right on time. They were laid back. I would use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: We used All Clear Sewer & Drainage Inc for plumbing. We last used their services basically about a month ago. We had some major issues. We had a back up pipe which was leaking and they replaced a whole bunch of drains from our upstairs to our downstairs. They had to cut a bunch of walls and stuff to actually find the issue and replaced all of it. All of it was from upstairs.

Water was dripping out of a light fixture directly underneath the bathtub upstairs. I e-mailed All Clear last night. They called me first thing this morning and we set up a service call for between 1 and 3 pm. The plumber called around noon to let me know a more specific time. That was great. Once he got there, he quickly assessed the issue. There was silicone instead of putty around the overage drain in the bathtub. He fixed the problem and charged me $150, which was very reasonable given his time and expertise. It was fantastic service. I will definitely call All Clear again with any plumbing needs.

It was great - I've gone through 3 different rooter / sewer clean out companies over the last 8 years, and finally I've found a company that wasn't out to rip me off! Scott and Mike showed up right at the scheduled time, got right to work on fixing the problem, and then visually inspected the line with a camera snake to make sure there wasn't any hidden damage that I should know about. They were in and out within an hour, the price was fantastic, and they even suggested a couple of things I could do to improve the situation in the future. I've had to have roots removed several times as part of a regular maintenance routine every couple of years, and "All Clear" will be on my call list next time.

The service/sales person was knowledgeable and straight forward on what needed to be done. There was a chance that the elbow / sewer line could be fixed by excavating down to the elbow, but also a chance they would need to continue excavating all the way to the main sewer line coming out from my house. When they excavated down to the corner, thye were able to install a new elbow and one section of pipe without excavating more. Tom Patten, the owner, spoke to me regarding having a proper 6 inch clean-out station, especially since they had the excavation machinery there. It made sense, so they dugout part of my front yard to install this line. After inspecting my catch basin, he recommended cleaning it out and installing a proper CB trap. Well, that also made sense, so that work was also done. They cleaned well afterwards and explained the ground will take time to go back to level where it was excavated.
Description of Work: The front right corner of my house had a clogged drain line that could not be rodded, and a camera showed there was a collapse just past the elbow. More work was determined to be needed on the day of service. This included installing a 6 inch clean-out station in the front yard, cleaning out the catch basin and installing a CB trap, and power rodding all lines.

They showed up exactly when they said that they would. They did exactly what they said that they would do. They gave me a 10% discount when I told them that I was a member on Angie's List. I was very happy with what they did and I would use them again in the future for plumbing when I would put in a utility sink in my garage. I have discussed with them about running a pipe and a drain for the utility sink in my garage. Their price was not at all bad for what they did. They were very timely and they very efficient. They were very clean and there was nothing to turn to them afterwards. It worked out very well. Their price was very competitive.

After smelling a very offensive odor in the house and thinking it was a dead raccoon, we found out it was water backed up in the crawl space. I had a coupon from All Clean for power rodding for $55.00. This was the lowest price I had found but that is not why I choose this company. The main reason was because they have an A rating on Angies List. I called around 3:15 pm and Brad and Pete arrived within an hour and a half. They found that we had roots in the line and tried to rod it out but weren't having much success. They changed from a 3 to a 4 inch blade and that did the trick. At one point though, they thought they might have to dig up the pipe from the clean out to the street which would cost around $5,000 to $6,000. I am glad they did not give up and were able to clear out the clog. They charged $55.00 which was the price on the coupon. At this point in time, I am very satisfied with All Clean and will be calling them again when I need power rodding.

Very satisfied. I knew I would be spending more than the $60 coupon because I wanted more. I received a quote from another plumbing company to do this work (although they only mentioned one blading and no jetting) for $650. These guys were very professional, gave me their opinion of the state of my line (that is, it didn't look very bad but I did have roots - which they pulled out of the line and they gave me plenty of time to look at the video to see the condition. NO hard sell at all.
Description of Work: They came out on the $60 coupon for sewer rodding. This was a maintenance item for me because I know I have roots in my sewer line that have caused back ups before. The ran the 3" rod and put a camera in to inspect the line. I could have stopped there and been happy. However, because i know I have a problem, I went ahead and got them to rod with 3 more blades and do a jet of the line.

We called when we saw water coming up from the basement grate and they were here within 45 minutes. They went straight to work and were able to identify the problem. The whole time Tristen communicated what he and Pedro were doing or finding and he was very willing to answer any questions. When their first attempt didn't work, I was very impressed that they willingly tried a second time to rod through all the build-up without charging us extra.
Description of Work: power rod main sewer line from our basement to clear a clog. The house was vacant for a few years so the amount of tree roots and dirt was so large, it took them 2 tries to finally power through it.
