Upon lube of chain and review of overall unit, it was determined gear crank was warped and badly worn causing unnecessary noise and a jerk in the movement of the door. Repairman showed me the worn part and suggested a replacement of part. He gave me a discount on labor since he was already out. While I was just a little skeptical at first, the part he showed me was clearly bent and after the repair, the door operated markedly better.
Description of Work: Installed garage door keyless pad and wound up replacing gear crank that was almost worn through.

+ -1 moreWe thought we would need extra services because our garage door was malfunctioning.But when Rich came out he found that some screws needed to be tightened in the track and it was not a big deal in the end. He replaced the badly worn weather stripping at the bottom of the door. The door functions like new again.

+ -1 moreI bought the Big Deal and before I could call them to make an appt. Vicky called me. She let me know that Rick was going to be in my area on Nov. 1 and would that be convenient for me. Wow! Customer Service. This usually doesn't happen. I booked the appt. He was scheduled to be here between 11A and 1P. He arrived in the scheduled time. Very nice, answered all my questions. Replaced the rubber on the bottom of the door with a much better rubber. He had some trouble with the installation but in no time figured out how to accomplish the task. I was very impressed. I would definitely use them again. And, wholeheartedly recommend American Doors.
Description of Work: He replaced the rubber strip at the bottom of the garage door and greased the door. Also, showed me where to spray WD40.

+ -1 moreRich was great! He was very knowledgeable and was very professional. He was patient when I asked questions and he solved the problem of leakage in the garage. I really like the ease of the keyless pad for my friends.
Description of Work: I was getting leaks in my garage at the ends and could not figure how to get it stopped - I had put down a garage strip and a 2 inch barrier and still getting leaks. Rich looked and suggested a 6 in barrier and if that did not work to take out the strip. He also looked over the entire garage set up. He greased the door so it no longer creaked as the door was opened and closed and installed a keyless garage pad.

+ -1 moreI bought the special on Angie's List for a new keyless door opener and sealer at the bottom of the door. I also paid a little bit extra to have him look at the motor and oil everything. We were having problems with both our keypad not being functional in cold weather and also water coming in under the door. This special fixed both problems plus the technician carefully adjusted our door so it closed firmly. He also explained everything to me and I learned a lot about taking care of the garage door myself. I would recommend this company. He responded promptly. When he was running a little late, he called me, and then came promptly after the last job. I have kept the information for this company to call them again if I ever need to.
Description of Work: New keypad, button inside of garage repaired, rubber seal on bottom of door replaced, motor for opener greased and all garage door joints and chain lubricated.

The first day they could come was not convenient for me. They worked with me on my schedule and came out the following week. Rich was awesome. He was on time, listened to my concern, and was able to repair the issue. He even took the time to explain what I could do as far as minor maintenance to keep the door operating smoothly. I would definitely use American Door again.

He was very friendly and scheduled a date of service which was a few days later which I don't remember the service date,sometime this last summer. The day of service, he was punctual and proceeded to install the keyless entry and check all functions of the service provided in this deal. He was very patient in his explanations of the service and overall, it was a very pleasant experience. I would definitely use him again for any garage door needs.

+ -1 moreAs stated above, the work was great and I appreciate Rich fitting me into his busy schedule on short notice.
Description of Work: The large spring on the top of my garage overhead door broke and I could only raise the door a few inches with my electric garage door opener. I checked Angie's List and found American Doors who serviced my area. I called and actually talked with the owner, Rich. I explained my situation and asked if he could come out today. He advised me that he had a full day, but was going to see if he could fit me in as this was really an emergency repair and not just a call for an inspection of the door. Rich did call me back to tell me that he could come out and the time to expect him. He even called me to let me know he was running late as delayed on the job before me which I thought was very considerate. He quoted me the price for a better spring than I had and proceeded to install it . His work was quick and neat and he gave me some tips on how to maintain the door. I will definitely call Rich again when I am ready for a door replacement along with an updated garage door opener.

+ -1 moreRich was very professional and on-time. He did a complete inspection and fixed a few minor problems to make sure the door was safe. The house is being remodeled and he suggested that I wait to get a new door until the remodel is done so the new door does not get damaged. He could have pushed to sell me a door now; he could have not fixed the old door and insisted that my only choice was to get a new door immediately. But he was honest and took care of the problem to make sure my door could make it a little longer. I will 100% call him back after the remodel is complete and buy a new door and a new motor from him. Perfect service.
Description of Work: The old garage door was not working. It had no electrical power to it and was not functioning. The house was undergoing a major remodel and the workers were using the garage for supplies and an entry/exit. The door needed to work. I contacted American Doors and they came immediately to fix the problem. Rich told me the door was very old and the motor was probably beyond repair. Plus, because the door was so old it was also heavy and a new motor would be expensive to lift such a heavy door. I needed a new door and new motor. Rich took nearly two hours to fix the motor to save me from buying a new door and motor.

Also checked the tracks, added grease, checked the motor etc. He then tried to sell some extra items to my wife, which is OK (we all need to make money !). He recommended replacing the weatherstripping on bottom of garage door which really was torn up and in bad shape. He started at a higher price and my wife told him that was too much, and got it down to $100.

Description of Work: Rich was prompt in arriving at my home he immediately checked the overhead door and proceeded to give me full details on what he needed to fix...before he took a tool! He checked and adjusted the fame rails. He checked and adjusted the door rollers. He checked and adjusted the door pulley. He checked and adjusted the functions of the garage door opener RICH WAS JUST GREAT..AS HE WORKED ON THE DOOR HE WAS WALKING ME THROUGH EACH DETAIL ON WHY THE DOOR WAS NOT PERFORMING CORRECTLY AND HE WAS DOING TO FIX IT...HE WAS VERY VERY KNOWLEDGABLE.

The installation of the keyless remote was very simple; I could have done it, but I knew I wouldn't have take the time to do it, so I'm still glad I purchased it from them! He upsold me on several adjustments to the garage, which I also knew I needed but would never do unless he showed. So, while I spent a bit more than I hoped to, they were all things I needed anyway, and I am happy with the outcome.

+ -1 moreForgot the name of the guy who did the work, but he did a good job and didn't try upselling me on some useless stuff. I wanted a remote keypad installed for my garage and that's what he installed. He checked the operation of my garage door and said it's working fine. He oiled the joints of the garage door and shifted the rubber pad that lines the bottom of the door. So, basically, he did some extra work that wasn't related to what I paid for, and I appreciate that.
