Description of Work: Tune up of garage doors. The technician did a great job......explained the components of the tune up, completed the work efficiently and effectively and left the area spotless. In addition, he provided detailed instruction regarding ongoing homeowner maintenance. A great job......I would not hesitate to call on O'Brien Garage Doors for quality service in the future.

Description of Work: I don't remember the date or how much was charged. All I remember is that it was reasonable. The tech rebuilt the garage door opener and rebuilt the garage door opener support system.

Description of Work: I used O'Brien because I had a coupon for a garage door tuneup that came in the mail. I knew it needed to be lubricated so I scheduled an appointment. I originally had an appointment on a Friday. I made a morning appointment because I had to leave for the airport at a certain time. They called 15 minutes after the appointment window ended and said they would be there in 45 min. I told them that would not work and rescheduled for the following Monday. On Monday, two guys show up 15 minutes after the appointment window in an unmarked van and not wearing a uniform or anything identifying who they work for. The tried to convince me that my whole garage door would buckle if I did not replace springs and wheels. When I would say no to one thing, they would try and tell me that I needed something else, that was not mentioned initially. They told me I should replace the main spring. I told them I would wait. They then said that the tension needed to be adjusted, but usually the spring breaks within 30 days if they adjust the tension. I told them not to adjust the tension. After they did the maintenance, they presented my bill to me with the charge for adjusting the tension. I told the guy that I instructed them not to do this. He said "well it is done and we can't undo it" I refused to pay for it. He was very annoyed but took it off. I will never have these people do any work for me again. | |By the way, the ad said family owned an operated. I didn't realize until after the fact that they have locations all over the country, so I doubt this is true. Stay away from this company!

Description of Work: Replaced broken springs. John diagnosed that the springs that were installed by another company were not the proper ones for our door. Honored the coupons that we had which saved us around $60.

Description of Work: The O'Brien service call really did not solve the problem we were having with the door. Within a short time the problem kept on recurring. Ultimately we ended up having a different door company come out and that technician knew exactly what to do to solve the problem so then it did not reoccur.

I had to page them out to fix because I had a car in the garage and it was a work night and they were trying to charge me the emergency fee of $100, but I refused to pay because this should be covered as part of warranty.
