O’Brien Garage Doors - Chicago

It was kind of an emergency because we couldn't open the garage doors and get the cars out. They gave me a window of time for the guy to come out. He ended up coming significantly later than that. They did provide an update to tell me when he would get there. It was appreciated when he did get here. I know he was busy. He did say they only had 7-8 people in the Chicago-land area which is a large area to cover, so I understand why. They did say he would be here by 4 and he didn't get here until 7pm which was very late. I don't really blame him for being late. He did a good job. He checked everything out and he fixed the problem. He thought it was the cords, but it ended up being the spring. He was very professional. He was very detailed. They are reliable. Their technicians that have come have been good.

The man called before coming. Was courteous, polite. Tightened all loose fittings. Did not try to sell me a new door. Went in GREAT detail what parts would cost if needed. Gave estimate for new door, if needed. I trusted business, would call back. Thank you!

Technician named Justin, came out to our residence where we discussed replacing our existing garage door for one that would hang on a shorter track, to provide us with ceiling space for additional storage space in garage. I paid him the $38- CASH that was told was required for him coming out to quote us. Justin told me he would call back with a quote within a couple days. After never hearing back from him, I placed several phone calls to the company with no call back from Justin. I was told only Justin could provide the quote and received no further assistance or contact from him or any other employee representing the company. I made every effort to follow-up and receive my quote which I paid for. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS

It was an emergency call so I could get my garage door closed at night. The emergency call added $100 to the total.

They called stating he was on his way to my house. he was very professional. He sprayed lubicant on all the moving parts and greased the main track. My garage door was very loud and I think it is original garage door opener from when the townhouse was built back in 1983. I have a bedroom above the garage and it would wake you up when someone would open it - now you can barely hear it when it is in use. The best 50.00 I ever spent.

Our garage door springs were broken. We called up and I believe it was the very next day someone came out to install new and adjusted them. The gentleman was very professional, polite, and punctual. My husband is very picky and usually wants to do things himself, however he was very pleased with O'Brien Garage Doors and if the need occurred he would certainly call them again.

They did a fine job. There was nothing particularly extraordinary or unextraordinary about it. I called them to do some work and they came out and did it. I paid them and they left. The job was not terribly involved. They did everything they were supposed to do.

So far, I don't see any problem with the thing that they fixed. I don't think I know enough of my garage door that I would know if they did an excellent job. The only feedback I have is when they fixed the stuff, there were a lot of screw remnants on my garage door. I think that when they replaced the stuff, those were the old screws they did not clean up well so I would see a lot of remnant screws on the floor that I would have to pick up myself because I don't want my car to drive through them and get a flat tire. I negotiated the pricing and they gave me a discount on the pricing.

They did a tuneup for me several years prior so I just called them back in when my garage door started making noise again. They did a good job. The interaction was fine. The guy who came out was knowledgeable and did a credible job and did it quickly.

Everything went smoothly with the garage door installation. Later I had a new garage floor poured and they came back and adjusted the door, greased, put a new rubber gasket at the bottom of the door and inspected the door. I thought the price was a little high for what he did. A few weeks later the bolts that hold the arm on the door that support the door when opening and closing came loose and one of two fell out. I discovered after looking at the problem that they had never put in lock washers. If both bolts had failed the door would have crashed down. I wasn't particularly happy about that, but I went to the hardware store and bought two lock washers and fixed the door myself. Not a difficult job but I am a 78 year old woman.
