Western Mechanical has been heating and cooling Cache Valley Homes for over 36 years. The business was created by Milford John Egbert, with the influence of his youngest son Jack Egbert, as Egbert Heating. The two men worked out of a car port for their first few years before renting their first shop, then built their own shop in 1974. Milford retired in 1977 turning the business over to his boys. In 1994 the business name, Egbert Heating. was changed to Western Mechanical Incorporated. Today Western Mechanical is in its 3rd Generation. Western Mechanical, Inc. in Logan, Utah services residential homes and commercial businesses in the Cache Valley area which includes all of the towns from Avon, Paradise and Hyrum on the south to Smithfield, Richmond and Lewiston on the north. Western Mechanical, Inc. is expanding to serve towns in Idaho (Franklin and Preston) and in to Wyoming.
"It was very nice to work with Kris at Western Mechanical for our major renovation project. We were very pleased with the professionalism, timeliness, and quality of the final product. We had a major job as the whole house was being redone. I was formally the general contractor for the project and they worked nicely along with and around the other contractors. It was nice to have at least one thing that we didn't have to worry much about. In the end, we love the final product which works wonderfully. I would be very happy to recommend them."

Fixing a gas leak costs about $45 to $150 per hour for a plumber or gas line specialist. The job’s overall cost will vary depending on the location of the leak. A leaky junction or connection behind the stove or dryer will likely cost about $120 to $170. But for a leak that requires a gas fitter or plumber to excavate a pipe in the yard, the cost could rise to $1,500 to $5,000. Keep in mind that gas leaks are very serious issues, so don’t hesitate to contact a plumber or gas line specialist immediately.
The cost to install a fireplace is $2,440 on average. This cost can range from $150 to $8,000 or more, depending on the type of fireplace, the materials used, and the size.
Electric fireplaces cost around $1,000 to install, and mostly only require wiring installation. Installing a wood fireplace from scratch could cost upwards of $10,000, depending on the foundation needed to support the weight of the fireplace. In addition, gas fireplaces can cost between $2,500 and $10,000.
The cost to remodel your fireplace is $1,200 on average. This cost can range from $400 to $2,000, depending on the extent of work needed.
If you add a hearth to your fireplace, you can expect to pay between $3 and $200 per square foot. However, if you're refacing your fireplace, the price tag will depend on your chosen materials. If choosing tile, you can pay between $1 and $50 per square foot, depending on the design. Stone is a more expensive material, averaging between $60 and $70 per square foot.
Yes, it can be worth installing a gas fireplace, depending on your home heating needs. The cost to install a gas fireplace can be much lower than the cost to install a comparable wood-burning fireplace. The convenience of starting a fire with the flip of a switch and turning it off just as quickly makes a gas fireplace a big time saver over starting and maintaining a wood-fueled fire. A gas fireplace also does not require ash cleanup or frequent chimney cleaning to remove creosote and other buildup that can lead to chimney fires. Gas fireplaces burn and heat much more cleanly than wood fireplaces.
A gas fireplace insert costs about $3,600 to install, on average. The cost to install a gas log insert ranges from about $700 to $6,500, depending on the size, type of insert, how it works, and heating needs. Gas fireplaces need electrical and gas lines installed properly, so hiring a pro is recommended rather than trying to DIY installation.
