Hello! We are a small family owned company. Our love of renovation began in 1998 the year we bought our first home. The last 14 years we have designed and renovated our own homes and since 2010 we had the opportunity to start up our own company and join the renovation business full time and we couldn't be happier. Steve and I have been married for 26 years and we have 3 sons, hence the name 3 Sons Renovation. We work diligently for our customers and our goal is to make sure they are pleased with their project. Give us a call, we love to talk all things renovation. Thanks for reading, Kimberly

Description of Work: We had Steve and Kimberly give us an estimate on interior painting of several rooms and entry areas to include major repairs of walls to be painted. We also had exterior work to include trim replacement and painting.Patty and I were pleasantly surprised when their estimate was almost half of previous estimates.Even if their estimate had not come as low,we would have hired them. These two people are so nice and understanding. They were more than willing to work around our schedule and our continuos additions of others work. At the end of the project, their finished work surpassed our expectations. When we have other work to be done,3 Sons Renovation will be the folks doing that work.We highly recommend Steve and Kimberly.

Description of Work: Working with Steve and Kimberly is a positive experience from the appointment to do the estimate right on through the completion of the job. I was very impressed with how conscientious they are in maintaining quality of the work, the clean-up at the end of each day's work is great, and they are very considerate in maintaining a schedule that will efficiently complete the project. We also have several other projects planned that they are going to complete and we look forward to working with them again.

They did a great job! Getting the paint to match on the ceiling was a challenge, but Kimberly was patient and just kept working her magic. The crack in the ceiling used to stand out, but thanks to Steve's great patch job and Kimberly's expert paint job, not a single visitor to my home has even noticed the repair, which is exactly what I wanted. The bookcases around the fireplace were a challenge, too. The original contractor botched them terribly. Steve filled and sanded, filled and sanded, then Kimberly painted them a crisp white. Wow! The bookcases finally look the way they were intended to look -- a smooth, clean architectural feature. Steve took care of two projects that may have been small, but had a big impact overall -- installing some missing baseboard in a hall closet and adding new sliding doors to a bedroom closet. He took great care to make sure everything fit properly and looked good. He was great about changing out the hardware on the doors, which was supposed to be a small thing but turned into a big deal because he and Kimberly decided the paint job on the doors wasn't good enough -- so they re-did them! I thought they were fine before, but must admit the re-do made the doors even better. The outdoor patio had a cover, but the structure had never been painted and had deteriorated a bit. Steve replaced the fascia boards and Kimberly primed and painted the whole thing. The difference is amazing and became a selling feature for the house. All the work Kimberly and Steve did helped me to sell my house in just one week for full asking price. I could not be more pleased. They were kind, considerate, and so very professional. I've never had contractors who left a work site as clean as they did, or who were as conscientious about communication as they were. I highly recommend 3 Sons Renovation.
Description of Work: Kimberly and Steve of 3 Sons Renovation did several spruce-up projects to help get my house ready to go on the market. They installed a bit of missing baseboard, some new closet doors, repaired a crack and painted a ceiling, repaired and painted bookcases, and painted an outdoor patio cover structure.

I have used 3 Sons Renovation in the past with excellent results and have a lot of confidence in them to do ANYTHING. While they had not done dock work to my knowledge in the past, I knew Steve would be able to leverage his related skills with deck work and general carpentry to start this first phase of renovation of our old deck. True to our past experience with Steve, he did an outstanding job. He was very proactive and took the initiative to start the job a day earlier to avoid forecasted bad weather on the original start date. He saw holes in our original plan and made recommendations for improving the end result (which we accepted) with minimal increase in cost. 3 Sons will continue to be our "go to" resource for future remodeling needs of just about any kind. I have also referred them to my friends and associates based on our personal satisfaction with their services, fairness and professionalism.
Description of Work: Built 4' x 16' pier (including setting 6 pier blocks, building the pier and covering it with redwood decking material).
After my first finish carpenter didn't work out, I found 3 Sons on Angie's List and what a blessing that was!!! 3 Sons is a husband and wife team who not only were able to meet my finish carpentry requirements but virtually everything else I needed to finish my remodel - all this in a very short time frame. I was apprehensive during my first interview when they said they could do EVERYTHING, but after hiring them I quickly found out they ACTUALLY could. They were fantastic to work with: honest, reliable, flexible, professional, courteous, respectful of my property and very collaborative. They were extremely hardworking (willing to work LONG hours and even Saturdays) and neat, always removing their shoes at the door and doing all the sawing and other dirty work outside (even when it was snowing). All this and they were still very cost competitive. Steve (the husband) is a perfectionist. I am so particular I drive most contractors crazy but Steve is actually even more particular than I am! Kimberly (Steve's wife) is a great painter and stainer, good at making/repairing screens and helping Steve with whatever else needs to be done. She also manages the scheduling and does the billing (which was always thoroughly documented and accurate). They were a pleasure to work with and I will definitely be using them again later this year to help me with additional remodeling needs inside and out. I highly recommend them!!!
Description of Work: Last fall I remodeled my lake cabin in anticipation of company at Christmas. I originally engaged 3 Sons for finish carpentry services and quickly found out they were capable of meeting all my other remodeling needs as well. The finish carpentry services included: finishing all the new window, door and ceiling trim in 3 rooms: building a custom door in the basement from scratch using knotty pine from the original kitchen; building a new staircase to the third floor master bedroom after removing the old one; and finishing, staining, and installing wide plank cedar trim along the full length of the basement. 3 Sons also fixed a sliding wood door in the guest bedroom; rehung cabinets, installed a new utility basin, door knobs and other hardware throughout the house; re-screened windows and did interior painting and staining. They did a wonderful job of cleaning up after themselves every day and cleaned out the whole garage at the end of the job (essentially cleaning up all the mess the other contractors had left behind). They also hauled all the garage trash away.
We are extremely expressed with 3 Sons Renovation and we recommend them as often as we can. We started out just getting one bedroom painted. The room looked great and was done, as all of their work is, timely and professionally. This great workmanship lead us to pursue the long to-do list that we?ve had for years. Which included: · Fixing the sliding, closet doors that did not close. · Installing new sink faucets in two of our bathrooms. · Tearing out the ceiling in the basement guest bathroom after we thought that the sheetrock was wet because of plumbing issues from the bathroom above. Needless to say, it was not the plumbing but a leak from the outside when it rained that was coming down our wall and pooling up in the bathroom ceiling. The leak was fixed. The drywall was reinstalled, taped, textured and painted. They felt that the wall paint had some texture spray on it and so they repainted my whole bathroom. · Caulking the line between the tile and the trim edge in our bathroom. · Venting our bathroom fan. While fixing the ceiling leak in our basement bath they found that our bathroom fan was not vented to the outside. They explained that with the fan only venting to the attic mold will often grow, therefore we requested them to vent the fan to the outside. At the same time they noticed that a vent in our metal roof needed to be re-caulked and they took care of this at the same time. · Grouting our bathroom tile. The grout in our master bathroom was cracked in many places. We asked them to simply grout over the cracked grout. However, they explained that this would not fix the situation and in a few months the new grout would be cracked. They took out all of the old grout, matched the new grout with the color we previously used and re-grouted the entire bathroom. · Repairing tiles that were loose. Our kitchen floor is slate and the original person that laid the tile did not lay the slate correctly. We have found that it is a difficult natural stone to work with, but they easily pulled up the tiles in our kitchen that were loose, fixed them and re-laid them so they no longer move when you step on them · Laying tile. We needed a backsplash for our vanity in our master bathroom. I picked one and they did a great job of laying it. · Our major repair was to our master bathroom. Our walls were slate tile and over the seven years that they were up the seal wore way and the water penetrated the slate to the point that it rusted and the rust ran down the tiles and grout. 3 Sons tried a couple of techniques to simply remove the rust from the tile ? one of which brought it back to about 90% of its original state ? however, I requested that they remove the tile, backerboard, grout, etc. and start from scratch. They did this and my shower has never looked so great! We felt very comfortable with them in our home when we were not there. They always cleaned up, including vacuumed before they left each day. We were very impressed with their suggestions to our to-do list as well as their mind on the bottom dollar. We could not be happier with the craftsmanship, professionalism, pricing and overall great people to work with! They were an awesome team to work with and made the entire project a team project with everyone?s input involved. I have already started on my list for the next time they come out. I cannot imagine working

OK from very beginning to completion. I wanted to get all work done before Fall rain/snow season and they worked very hard to accomplish this. They are unusually conscientious and take pains to assure that every detail is correct
Description of Work: Remove old fir & larch deck which had unsafe railing and deck.Replace with new deck of different design but approximately same square footage as old 10 x 20 deck. Deck is on 2nd story which required poured concrete footings and I specified 6x6 in. support posts. The new structure is supported by 10 of these (as opposed to the four 4x4s which held up the original). The new deck also has redwood decking and rails. New deck also has a stairway which the old one did not. The craftsmanship throughout is excellent. The only glitch was a County building requirement we had not anticipated because of my change in design from the original. However, this did not entail an increased proposal cost, which some contractors could have charged. I may have other renovation improvements in the future. I will certainly call Steve and Kim first. Anyone needing this type of work done should call in early, as Steve, Kim and their sons are pretty busy during the year, particularly so where outdoor construction is needed.

It all went together quit well. Steve fit us in between other jobs, and it only took about a week to build.
Description of Work: We had Steve design and build a large pergola that was 14’ x 21’. It took 7 10" x 10' ceder posts and special order 1" x 6" x 14' boards. He was very flexible when it came to the prep work. I bought the materials, stained the wood and helped build the structure. I wanted him to help build another pergola this year 2012 but he was too busy during the time I wanted it done. I would hire him again. he is honest and hard working.

Steve came over as soon as he got the message that I needed a carpenter to do some work on the siding of my home. He discussed with me the options and which one he thought was best. The next night he brought over a proposal with everything we had discussed with the material and labor amounts and total cost and said he could start that Friday. That Friday morning at 8:00 AM he started and worked Friday, Saturday and part of Sunday until the job was finished. When he left he cleaned all the old wood and stuff with him. A week and a half Kimberly came and painted the front and side of the house and, at my request, my stairway. The both did a fantastic job and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone or use them again. Ted M. Hill

Kimberly and Steve from 3 Sons are an absolute Godsend. My husband and I were so fortunate to have found them when we began our remodeling project on a rental home. They were so helpful in choosing tasteful, durable products to use in the home. We did some of the work ourselves and they had a wealth of information and tips to help us along the way. They came in well within the budget and delivered the quality and service as promised, in the time promised. They were great to work with and we now consider them friends. We are looking forward to our next project and will definitely call them again. Highly recommend this company!

Steve and Kimberly installed wood-look laminate flooring and ceramic tile flooring in my house in Post Falls. The house is tenant occupied, which made coordination of the job a little more challenging for Kim and Steve. They were fantastic throughout the process. Not only did they do a wonderful job on the installation, they kept the job site clean, were punctual, efficient, and worked around the tenant's schedule, even working weekends to get the job done. The tenants and I are quite particular, but we couldn't be happier with the work and the service we received from 3 Sons Renovation. Plus, Kim and Steve are very pleasant and knowledgable people. After having several tradespeople not call or show up when they said they would, and one from a major home improvement store just flat not know what he was talking about, we were very fortunate to find Kim and Steve with 3 Sons. I would hire them again in a heartbeat, and highly recommend them to anyone looking for home improvement services.

I felt that wasn't really a very bad price. As far as I'm concerned, they came in right on time. They were very courteous. They cleaned up after themselves. I was very happy with them. They were just all around good. They did what they said they would in the time they said the would. They didn't ask me for more more. They told me exactly what they were going to do and how much it was going to cost. They did exactly what they were supposed to do and my floors are lovely. I have had them for about a year and I am thrilled with them. So they did a really good job.

The work had a due date which they were able to accomodate and went above and beyond their time on the job to get it done in time. They were very helpful doing "the little things" like some removal of small trees, hauling away old building materials and coming back for additional repair work and painting. They are meticulous in their work quality and overall we are very satisfied.
Description of Work: Through Angie's List I contacted Kimberly and arranged for an estimate from her and her husband Steve. They were prompt and gave us pricing for deck replacement, creating new pathways using timbers, main floor laminate flooring installation and bathroom laminate and bedroom carpeting installation. They also gave pricing for remodeling bathroom which are postponing.
It was an excellent experience. We worked together for two weeks. Steve always showed up on time, worked long hours, did quality work (he remembered details that I did not even realize were important!) I felt very comfortable and safe with Steve. Kim (a professional painter) helped me match paint free of charge. Steve left the work site clean and even hauled my trash! I highly recommend Steve and Kim at 3 Son's Rennovation.
Description of Work: I recently purchased a house in Rathdrum to be used as a rental, and a shop apartment that we were refurbishing to use as recreation property. I spent 2 weeks with Kim and Steve from 3 Son's Rennovation, and I cannot say enough nice things about this company. Steve did every aspect of repair and rennovation with great skill and professionalism. His prices were also very fair. He repaired a rotten exterior deck (even shoveled snow to do so!), built new deck railings, installed BEAUTIFUL laminate floors in the apartment, remodeled a bathroom with new sinks, faucets, and countertops. He fixed leaky pipes and did a myriad of other small tasks as they came up. He was very conscious of our timeline to get the rental property on the market, and our need to save money by allowing us (the homeowner) to do what we could do by ourselves. Steve even taught me how to repair holes in dry wall! The above price includes labor and materials.
