Description of Work: Dan came to my house shortly after I had signed up for his services. He was professional and I trusted his analysis. However, he never returned. And the Angie's list policy did not allow me to recoup my expenses since I did not respond within 30 days of this special's offering. Thing is, he was so swamped as a result of the "handyman special" he was just overwhelmed...in my opinion. Angie's List does not take this into consideration and thus I lost the $115 I paid upfront 'cause I did not let them know within 30 days. Ok, but Dan said he would be back before the snow flies...he never called or came back. I texted Dan in the fall (2015) to tell him I had completed 2 of the 3 projects and therefore he could just focus on the 3rd project I asked him to do. His response was, "Who is this"? I reminded him but never heard back. I will NEVER do business with Angie's list again! To get my money's worth, my understanding is, I have to find (and pay) for someone else to do the job. THEN and only THEN request (and get) a refund for the first $115 I spent. UGH! No one talks to you (well they do and then say someone will contact you and that is in the form of an email with their policy...it is all done via an impersonal, standard email regarding their policy on "specials". Really??? I am done! Never again! I had until recently to find another to do what I had paid "Dan The Handyman" special to do...ya...I don't think so! It was worth p****** away $115 to never interact with this website (not people) again.

Description of Work: This is the 3rd time I've used Dan for small jobs. He's trustworthy and does a solid job. This last job was to urgently change out locks as key broke off the day before closing. Other jobs were fixing stair railing, some cabinet hanging, etc.

+ -1 moreHe was very polite, went beyond his duties and even tried to continue to help fix the bathroom exhaust fan. He was determined to make sure I was happy with the results. I actually told him to stop when he started to fix the exhaust fan because he had already worked 15 minutes longer than agreed. I recommend this person for all your handyman needs as he is honest and determined to keep his customers happy.
Description of Work: He repaired my sliding patio door and hooked up a new stove adding a new 220 electric outlet.

He offered advice on how I could most effectively get other items on my wish list completed, regardless of whether he did it or someone else. He was very honest about what tasks would be most efficiently completed by him or by another person, thus saving me time and money. He has a good list of resources to utilize for other household repairs that are beyond the scope of what he does. I really appreciated that extra help.
Description of Work: weather calked siding, outside of house repaired a wiggly stair rail with wooden shim scrubbed and prepared basement floor for painting very professional in listing what items he would bring with him and which items I should have on hand in order for the time he spent working be the most beneficial for me.

I paid an additional $40 on top of the big deal for the extra time that it took him to complete the work. He is coming back as soon as the weather warms up.
Description of Work: I used the big deal that I purchased from Dan's Home Repair and Construction probably three weeks ago for installing a new kitchen faucet and hanging some heavier pictures on the wall for me.

+ -1 moreDan had responded right away to the phone call. We were scheduled within a week for an estimate for a 12x12 deck. Seemed very knowledgeble and offered a few ideas. He let us know he would take him a week to get the estimate since it is an holiday weekend. He came back in person with the estimate 6 days later, let us know he could get the deck done within the time frame we had asked. Was professional and knowledgeable. WE had two other estimates from other companies. Dan's estimate was $800 over both of these companies. His response was he has did many commerical projects and that was the base for his estimate. We declined. We had another company do it and are very pleased with the cost and the performance done. I will use this company again for estimates, if the estimate isn't a commerical pricing. He seems knowledgeable and a likeable person, professional. .
Description of Work: Looked at area and measured for the 12x12 deck. Talked about materials. Dan had mention other decks he had done.

+ -1 moreIt went great, just as Dan said it would. Dan is easy to work with. He was 'Johnny on the spot' with the time frame and had the whole crew working on it and got it done in one day. There was a problem with the bathroom vent and Dan had no problems fixing it and didn't even charge for the repair. I am in the auto industry and I know what little things like that mean to customers. That means Dan cares about his work and if you're happy with it. If you're not happy with it, I know Dan would be more than willing to work with you on it.

He put together pricing with detailed costs (materials costs where applicable) to complete each phase of the job. He discussed the pricing in detail with us and answered all of our questions and alleviated any concerns. He made suggestions where appropriate yet asked permission to advise if we were unsure about any of the materials or labor costs. Dan does what he says, stuck to his agreement that we signed to hire him and has been a pleasure to deal with. A true professional.
Description of Work: Dan removed our old bathroom vanities, flooring, showers and replaced with new materials that we purchased at home improvement centers. What we didn't have decisions on, he helped guide us with suppliers he had worked with. He contracted out the plumbing after conferring with us. He has been very patient, punctual and honest with us every step of the way. We would highly recommend him for general home improvement projects.
