MAWDSLEY HOME IMPROVEMENT

Tim was working as a sub-contractor for another firm. Wish I'd hired him directly; cost would undoubtedly have been less. He did an excellent job.

The job was not too extensive. The request was to remove a doorway that seperated the sink and tub area of the master bath from the toilet and shower area. The doorway and wall over it were to be removed. The wall where the doorway had attached would need to have drywall, the cealing would need textured where the wall once was. Also an opening was made in the wall above the shower to allow for light and ventillation. Tim was very nice. Easy to work with. He did have an employee do most of the actual work. I was not impressed with his employee. The guy spent 50% of his time on the phone making personal calls. He was not reliable and failed to show up to work once or twice and was late a few times. At one point he was standing on the shower seat to do some work. He fell and made a hole in the shower The opening that they made looked great. The removal of the old door and partial wall also went well. They did a good job texturing the cealing. The drywall repair was not done well. The lower portion is not even with the upper portion. There is a large gap between the wall and the baseboard which is not secured well to the wall. There are obvious lines on the main wall where the former wall once was. Perhaps another coat of mud would have made it blend in. Tim had promissed to come back and repair the hole in the shower. He has yet to find time to do the repair. It has been over a year. I had hoped to use this service for wallpaper removal and painting of my kitchen. I have chose to use another service for those items.

Tim and crew had to make several trips to be sure that the job was done correctly and looked good. They applied the dry wall, plastered several times and sanded. It was a real mess but it looks great.

The best experience with a handyman so far, he showed up when he was supposed to be here, came in with a good quote and completed the work for less than the estimate. They cleaned the area each day when the work was done. It looks perfect.

Tim and Lisa responded within a couple of hours of my request. Tim called the next day to set up a visit to my home for a quote while he was in the area. He and his crew were able to do the job the following Monday, a full week before my stated request. They showed up on time, went right to work and did a great job. When I came home from work there was no sign that anyone had ever been here....aside from the beautiful new wall color. The invoice was exactly as quoted. I will definitely use Mawdsley Home Improvement again!

.I contacted Tim to repair a wall in our entryway that had been damaged by water. On the initial phone call before seeing the damage it was assumed that the plaster would have to be torn out and replaced with drywall. Tim quoted me a price for this and I agreed. However when he arrived he stated that replacement would not be necessary, he could repair the damage and save me some money! This was a small job so Tim had to work it in between larger projects, but he always communicated well and gave me plenty of notice and several options if he had to reschedule. It took three visits to complete the wall because it had to dry between applications. Tim was quick and efficient and cleaned up well each time he visited. His price was very reasonable and now our wall looks great. I will definitely be calling Tim in the future for handyman or remodeling services.

Mawdsley home improvement was great. They were on time and cleaned up after each day they were here. Would defintley recommend them!

I called to get an estimate. He had to reschedule the estimate 2 times. When he did come out for the estimate he was on time and asked some good questions about what I wanted done. It took about a week and a half after he had been at my house before I got my estimate. He estimated several different items for me. I chose at this time to only have him do the drywall, mud and tape, and texturing. We arranged a day to start the work. They were supposed to arrive on a tuesday at 8 in the morning. At 8:45am, I called him because they had not arrived yet and was told that they would then be there at 2pm that afternoon. At 2:30pm, they had still not arrived and I called them and left a message. They got back to me and said they would be there the next day at 7:30am. The next day at 8:10am, they finally showed up and got to work. Tim was not the one who showed up to do the work. It was a couple of guys who worked for him. They go done hanging the drywall that day at around 2:30pm. They left without saying anything to my wife. I called Tim to confirm that they were coming out the next day. He said they would be there in the morning. Two guys showed up around 9:30am to get things ready for the mudding and taping. Tim then told me that they would be there at 11am to start that. They arrived at 11:15am and got started. They left around 2:15pm without saying anything to me. I left for a little while and they called and said they were trying to get back in to do a second coat. I went back home and they finished the second coat. They had to come back and do the texturing on Monday because we couldn't be at home. The showed up about 20 min. late on Monday morning and their machine broke down around 10am. They left and didn't come back until the next morning to finish. They were once again about 20 minutes late. They came back on Wed. to clean up. They were 2hrs and 15minutes late. After they left I noticed that they had gotten some stuff on my carpet at the bottom of the stairs, mud on the back of my basement door, and left four boxes in my backyard. Tim told me they would be there at 6pm the next night to fix those issues. He was 40minutes late. Tim took $50 off of my bill for their being late. I also used the 10% off coupon that he had on Angie list. I will not be using him for any more projects.

These repairs took place over a three-day period because of the necessary drying time. The water damage repair and larger wall patch were fairly simple, but the ceiling patch and garage wall patch required knocked-down texture. Those patches look just like the areas around them. You would never know repairs were done, which is what I love about patches done correctly. Tim and Dave were both courteous, and they cleaned up after themselves. They were respectful of me and my home, and I thought the price was fair (Tim accepted my Angie's List coupon without complaint). When planning for this job, I had chosen three drywall companies from Angie's List to call for estimates. Tim's was the first I called, and because he was able to give me an estimate pretty quickly and do the work right away, and the price seemed very reasonable, I didn't even call the other two companies. If I ever need drywall repairs in the future, I will definitely call Tim.

Tim and Mark and Dave were prompt. They were efficient in their use of time. They covered the floors with tarps and were excellent painters. They followed directions well and were willing to do some extra things as they came up. They were polite and I felt goodabout having them work in my Mother's home. Truly nice people!! Work was done in the 50321 area.

We haven’t made a decision on that project yet and they are definitely one of the contenders. Their price was higher than some of the other people but they were very knowledgeable, professional and respectful. They were on time and pretty much everything I could ask for. They were just very impressive. They listened to what we were interested in and made suggestions at what they thought might work. They were very polite and very attentive to detail which is important when doing a remodeling project. I thought they were a little bit overpriced but I intend to go back to them and try to renegotiate because I really do like this crew. If we could come to a meeting of the minds and get them to come down to a lower, fairer price for both of us, I would definitely use them. They were excellent overall except for the price.

Mr Mawdsley was either early or on-time for everything, from arriving to give an estimate, to submitting his estimate, to completing the project (took about 5 business days from first bucket of paint to the curtain rod hanging). He was easy to work with and handled additional requests without a hitch. He and his partner left the house as clean as they had found it.The paint job was done beautifully - minor drywall repairs were needed (nail damage, old curtain rod holes, etc) in several places, and the only reason I could see where the repairs had been done was because I knew where they were to begin with. The more substantial drywall repair (from the "floating" shelf embedded in the drywall) was also done to my complete satisfaction.

He was great to work with. He was one of the few people willing to work with us on an odd job. I would recommend him and use him again in the future. We have already spoken to him about other upcoming work.

Tim has been here twice to do different jobs for us. We first asked him to clean our gutters. His actual price was less than his estimate. While he was here doing that we asked him to look at the woodpecker holes on the side of the house and let us know if he could fix those as they were really high (we couldn't reach them with our extension ladder). He said he could and came back another day to patch those and paint them. We've been very happy with the work he has done and will definitely use him again for other home repairs.

Scott was able to provide a free estimate within a few days of my call. He explained in detail what steps he would take to repair between our house and the deck. We had sheets of siding to be used and he assessed the supplies and measured to be sure they would cover the job. He did not try to convince me to buy additional supplies to make more of a profit. His price was considerably less than other quotes we received. He was able to make the repair quickly and the quality was very good. I was very pleased with his work and would definitely use Mawdsley Home Improvement again!

Called Tim on Thursday and arranged Saturday morning meeting to review work. Tim called me at work Friday wanting to meet that afternoon instead. Took off work and drove home to meet with Tim. Meeting went OK but Tim suggested using pavers to widen concrete drive and for sidewalk. He also wanted to put up privacy fence. We agreed to look at pavers for walkway but insisted on chain link fence. Tim said he would contact us the next week with estimates. Tim emailed that week asking me to call him. Said he had lost my phone number. No estimate - just asked me to call him. When I called, Tim said his helper had injured himself and without his helper he could not do the work for us. Gave me two contractors to call to get the work done. Gave me numbers from Angie's List that I could have gotten myself. Wasted a week with this guy not to mention what I paid for Angie's List. So far, both the contractor and the reference to him have been worthless.

He does not do that type of work but provided a name of an individual that he had in his reference file he would recommend. The individual turned out to be well qualified and completed my project w/in 4 days.

Tim arrived at the time he said he would, over a two-day period, and spent time efficiently in both areas of the house. Took good care to mask off walls and furniture when painting, and removed all debris. Very clean job.
