MAWDSLEY HOME IMPROVEMENT

1. Decided not to go through with this work. As products I was advised to order by contractor were out of stock and decided to do the work with a friend. 2. Looks good! 3. Floors look great; subcontracted out. Should've had couple items clearly written out before work began but happy with the work completed. Dispose of all trash/scrapes myself. I wouldn't hire again due to a couple issues but work completed was an A.

I really hate to give Tim this review, because when people find out how good he is, he will get too busy and it will be hard to get on his schedule, but Mawdsley Home Improvement is a well run company and I heartily recommend the service. The first contact was a call from his wife to schedule an appointment. She was extremely friendly and efficient. When Tim found he was running late for the appointment, he called before he was late. He gave a reasonable quote, scheduled the work and showed up on time. Everything was done as promised. He didn't leave a mess. He even took pictures during the job to show us things that were too high for us to see. I ordered the replacement screen door and it has not arrived yet, but I am confident Tim will do the same great job when the door arrives.

Got estimate in a timely matter, tech friendly

There was some rotted wood surrounding our front door. The emails requesting an estimate were answered promptly and courteously. Scheduling took about a week so that was terrific. The 2 workers showed up when they said they would. Entire job was completed over 2 days, the first day removing the old wood and replacing it and the second day was for caulking, painting, finish work. Progress was reported at each step and recommendations made/followed. The quality of the work appears to be good but only time will tell. So they got an A for a good deal of the work. However, I gave them a C for the following: finish work was extremely sloppy, old caulking was not removed but painted over, cigarette butts in grass, etc. They were punctual, friendly and easy to work with but plan to spend some time cleaning up. My husband spent 4 hours scraping caulk off the brick surrounding door, policing the grass for debris, and scrubbing some type of drips off the storm window. If it takes some elbow grease to clean up after them BUT the work is solid, I feel that is a fair trade off. We would hire again but allow for lots of detail work when they finish.

Tim showed up when he said he would and the work was done well and on time. We have worked with Tim many times in the past and can always count on him.

They were amazing, fast, punctual, respectful, and did the best quality work we have seen in a long time. I will hire again and again!

It went very well. It required Tim to come back 3 times to complete the process. He did it quickly and was very neat in his work.

He is very considerate, does good work, fair bid, and punctual. I would use him again and refer him to others.

MHI did a great job for us. They were within a day or two of their estimated timeframe from start to finish (and really wasn't their delays - rather scheduling between plumbers/electricians etc). Everything was done exactly how we discussed and very good communication throughout the process. Would highly recommend MHI for any of your home improvement/remodel needs. We fully intend to get back in touch with them when we are ready to start finishing our basement! Thanks again!

The basement remodel went well and we are very pleased with the work that Tim and his team completed. On the whole, Tim provided a good price, high-quality work, and was responsive and professional throughout the project. The punctuality of the work was only fair, however. To be fair, this was more typical of the sub-contractors Tim used and not him directly. We consistently had to contact Tim to see when the electrician and the drywall installer were, since they often did not show up at the appointed time. The price we paid for the whole project was $16,000. This price was $3-5,000 less than we were quoted from two other estimates we received. The $16,000 includes several (mostly minor) changes we made as the remodel was being completed (double closet door instead of single, etc). The only issue I had with the price was that the electrician that Tim used seemed to charge far too much ($3,300). I won’t pretend to know exactly the going rate for what he did, but it sure seems like we should have been able to save hundreds of dollars here with a different electrician. I expressed these concerns to Tim during the project and he said he would do his best to keep costs down, because he seemed to think it was high as well. On the whole, we were very happy with the overall cost of the remodel, but next time I will certainly be asking for a couple of bids on the electrical side. The work was high quality. The basement looks very nice and everything flows together well. We went through the work that was completed most nights and when we pointed out things that needed fixing, Tim made sure it was done. It’s been six months since everything was completed and everything is holding up well. I did notice that the can lights in the basement loosen a bit when our kids are jumping around on the main floor (and need to be pushed back in ¼”), but I don’t think that’s much of an issue. Tim’s responsiveness was good throughout the project. He usually answered our phone calls and when we left voicemails they were returned in a reasonable amount of time. As mentioned above, he followed up on issues we pointed out in a timely manner. When we had questions about a sub-contractor timeliness or work product, he addressed it directly with them. The punctuality was fair. Tim and his direct employee generally arrived close to the stated time, but the sub-contractors were often later than they stated, sometimes as late as several hours. With young kids needing naps (and the loud/inconsistent noises from construction), it would have been much appreciated to have people show up at or near the appointed time, which simply didn’t consistently happen. For his part, when we called Tim he reached out to the sub-contractors right away and typically responded to us quickly with a correct, updated time. Still, a C is a fair rating on the whole. Tim’s professionalism throughout the project was very good. He never came off as rushed and took the time to listen to our questions and comments. He always kept the price within reason and did a good job of explaining out the cost of any changes we had. He would call from a hardware store to ask about the color/style of something if he wasn’t sure. He treated us with respect and it was clear that he wanted us to be happy with the job. Lisa, his wife and main office contact, was very friendly and got me information I requested quickly and efficiently. High marks here.

Tim Mawdsley met with us and submitted the bid. He worked with Jason Shinn to get our old deck removed and a new cedar deck installed. About a week later Jason came back to seal the new deck. Both Tim and Jason were very professional and easy to work with. We are very pleased with our new deck and are happy that we went with Tim and Jason.

We were very happy with Tim and Glenn! They did a fantastic job and we were extremely impressed by how punctual they were -- even in the middle of winter! It took them just about one month from start to finish to remodel our attic space. They gutted the space, built new stairs to the third floor/attic space, framing of a big closet, framing of new walls, drywall, mudding, sanding, orange peel and painting. We had selected a paint color for the walls which they started with but after seeing a first coat we weren't happy with how it looked. They were great about us finding another paint color at the last minute and we are much happier with the result. We absolutely love our new attic space and are thrilled to be able to use it comfortable after many years of waiting to find the RIGHT contractor for the job. We used another company for electrical and for the windows that were replaced in the space. They were also great about coming back to install two base board heaters for us in the space. I should also mention they were always respectful about coming in and out of our house even while we had young children and babies sleeping!

The project took approximately 7 days. Tim and Glen are an excellent team. They were prompt, efficient and did excellent work.The job was completed to our total satisfaction. These gentlemen were very personable and conscientious and we recommend Mawdsley Home Improvement without reservation.

He was the only contractor willing to help me with such a small job. He even went to find matching bricks for me and when it was all done you couldn't tell which were the originals and which were the replacements.

The owner quoted me about $6700 for the deck and that work would start around June 1st. After about 2 weeks, no work had been done. At this point we contacted the Mawdsley and asked what was going on. The main lady who answered the phone was horrible to us and gave us a run around for the next week. After 3 weeks of no work, we contacted them again and the same lady explained that they would have to requote us and that the cost would be an additional $1000. At this point we were furious with them and the owner called us back and said he would get us in contact with his sub contractor and remove himself from the picture. The owner explained that the sub contractor would be able to perform the work for the original price because the owner would not get his "share". This happened from May 20th to July 1st. On July 2nd, the day after the conversation with the owner, the sub contractor called. The sub contractor got the deck done in 3 weeks.

Highly recommend, excellent service

Did not show up when first scheduled. When he did work me in, it was too cold to caulk the pieces. After hanging with no caulk, the pieces blew down again, and this time cracked. He did come back and rehang them with caulk. The caulk down the crack didn't look too bad. Here we are a little over a year later and one of the pieces has come down again already.

Tim is a real professional! I just cannot say enough good things about Tim and his crew! He came over soon after I requested an estimate. He asked questions to make sure he knew exactly what I wanted done. He is excellent at his trade! He was always on time and made the effort to make sure that I was pleased with the job. He is very friendly and polite. If I need any more interior painting done, I will certainly call Mawdsley Home Improvement.

I was informed that they no longer do deck maintenance, although they did provide information for another contractor that can do the work. They received a "C" for overall performance based on their responsiveness only. I had to call and email several people several times before I could get a response several days later.

Had water damage from leaky roof. Replaced the roof, and then had Tim Mawdsley come in and complete the interior repairs. Tim's a busy guy, but he came in and did what needed to be done. Removed and/or repaired drywall and plaster where there was moisture damage, and sanded and skim-coated. It required several visits as he had to remove the damaged areas, replace wallboard/backer board, plaster, then sand and skim coat several times. Finished up with a primer coat on repaired areas. His work was thorough, efficient and high-quality. He's a friendly guy and a pleasure to do business with. If I have similar situations, or just decide to move some walls around, I'd be happy to hire him again.

Painting went well - woodworking was contracted and worker was very good - dry walling was okay but it was completed without doing the wiring - before installing the woodworking wood worker had to do wiring - finish work on woodworking project was not professionally done. Mawdsley had not contracted with woodworker to finish wood. Summary; good painting of walls - contracted with good wood worker - wiring and wood finishing below standard.

He was on time, friendly and professional. I'll be calling him again if I need work done.

Nice folks, good work, fair price. Work was done in an appropriate amount of time. All in all good experience, better than expected. They hung sheet rock, taped/mud and textured, 900 sq ft. Better communication with sub contractor could have been better. Contractor does not accept debit/credit cards.
