My call was answered quickly..service was scheduled for the second business day after my call. The service tech called to confirm he was on his way..quickly diagnosed the problem and much to my delight...even had the part on his truck..( I assumed he would have to order it and come back another day)..the technician was personable and professional. The window of time provided by the dispatcher was a couple hours...instead of the whole business day like service companies often provide...which I really appreciated...and the tech was well within the window provided by the dispatcher.

Encountered several additional issues in process, left from previous contractors. Up front about these, costs of fixing, etc., as well as electrical upgrades necessary to finish the job properly. Had to return several times, but remained prompt, and always kept us in the loop about what was happening.

They were excellent and they have been excellent in their follow through since they put it in. They have a boiler specialist who is extremely knowledgeable and pretty passionate about getting things right. He took pictures of the whole project because he has never put anything in like this. We have a 5-unit condo building so it was a pretty big steam boiler. They worked really hard on it and got everything right. They did a good job for us. They were excellent and the price was appropriate for the work that was done. We would absolutely use them again.

Not only did the sale person take a good amount of time to explain the new system and the savings that should be realized, but the installers were very professional and explained everything to me. This is a good company with a great reputation and I trust them to complete the work in the very near future.
Description of Work: Having new HVAC system including heat pump installed. Because of the onset of cold weather and the expiring tax credits, the completion of the installation (air conditioner, heat pump and humidifer) has been delayed as Green's services other customers with emergency needs. The company has been cordial and explained the situation. Of course my preference would be to have all the work completed.

Technician was at the house for maybe 10 minutes, says he balanced the machine, charged us $79 for the call. When I arrived later to check if the machine had been repaired, it appeared as if he didn't do anything, The hoses were leaking, the machine still walked itself off the pedestal during the spin cycle. If this serviceman was a professional the machine should have been in working order before he left.
Description of Work: Called to have washing machine looked at because it had been in the basement during flood. We let it sit for a week and it appeared to run fine but it kept spinning itself off the pedestal. My 89 year old Grandmother was the only one home when he arrived and was not able to go to the basement to watch what he did.

Our main complaint was that the installer didn't bring the needed parts with him and told us it would be best if we went and bought the needed parts and finish the installation ourselves. He then gave us a bill for $270 with a comment on the bill that said "customer will finish installation". We felt for that for $270, the installation should be finished (the estimate they gave us was for under $200). When we complained, the installer came back with the correct parts and finished the job. He asked if we would pay for the parts and we said yes that is only fair. He then gave us another bill for $85 which is ridiculously high for the parts. Long and short, it cost us $355 to install a dishwasher.
Description of Work: They removed our old Maytag dishwasher and installed new Maytag dishwasher.

It went excellent! The technician moved the refridgerator, fixed it, and gave us tips on how to keep it from happening again. One tip was to use an air compressor and blow away dust and debris build up 2x a year. Another tip was if the refrigerator stinks place newspapers inside to absorb the order...it WORKS!!!
Description of Work: Fixed our refridgerator and freezer. It stopped cooling and they fixed it.

It went well, except we did not need 2 techs to remove the AC and we will be more specific next time. I was especially pleased with the recommendations made by Chris as to modifications to be made to the AC platform that will improve the performance of the AC next year.

We pretty much knew what the problem was before we called yet they wanted to diagnose in one trip and repair in a second. Next time, we'll just order the part and install it ourselves -- it only took him a few minutes to replace the motherboard and we know that the part only cost $100. In this day and age, with the internet, DIY repairs are much more feasible. Repair service companies need to step up their game and give that extra bit in order to earn their fees. I don't think Green's Appliance did.
Description of Work: We knew that the motherboard needed to be replaced on our Bosch dishwasher. The wash cycles were not cycling completely through to the end. Still, the technician came out to diagnose (even after we told them over the phone what was wrong) and then it took another week plus for the ordered part to come in. He came back and replaced the motherboard. I'd asked him about the musty smell and orange slime buildup too, and his response was that he won't touch that problem especially in communities with hard water. Gee, thanks! Turns out that with the cycles running through to the end, the heat at the end takes care of the musty smell and slime buildup.

Very pleased with service and outcome. I was given plenty of information and explanation regarding the unit chosen and a detailed quote which was lower than some other services. All the people I dealt with from the first person I talked to, to owner who did estimate (and provided more information and was very patient with my questions and issues with home warranty company) to the installer - were all very professional and pleasant. One of the better experiences I have had having a service done. Would definitely recommend and would not hesitate to contact again.

Repair man opened the fridge and freezer sides. It looked like he took temp readings from both. He pulled the unit away from the wall and looked at the back side with his flashlight. Didn't want me to pull all the way out so he could get back there himself. He opened the refrigerator again and looked inside but interestingly didn't move any food or ask to have the food taken out (most of the food in there had spoiled so there wasn't much in there except for soda cans, unopened condiments, things that couldn't spoil, etc). After he closed the door he turned to me and said he didn't know that much about the model refrigerator we own (Samsung 5 year old model from Lowes). He said he would call me back after he talked to a friend of his he thought would know more about this model. He collected my money, gave me the receipt and left. Two days later he called and said his friend had a little experience with Samsung refrigerators. He said that because this model uses electronic cooling that it won't refrigerate the refrigerator side when it is making ice cubes. He said I should take everything out of the fridge and turn the fridge off. He said put a space heater in the refrigerator side for 24 hours. Then turn the refrigerator back on, but to lock off the ice maker and turn off the water line to it. He said I would not be able to use the ice maker or water any more with this fridge and to just buy ice at the store and put it in the ice bucket. I did as he said with the fridge. At first it did get down to the right temp but then never held it. I would stay between 48 and 54 degrees no matter what I did even though we don't use the ice machine nor do we have the water on. I can't believe that there is no repair for a $2000+ refrigerator that worked fine one day then just didn't. I believe that if a repair person can not fix a problem they should not collect the $$. Since there was no repair why should there be a charge. No one would pay a mechanic if they brought a car in the shop and the mechanic told them to just push the car from now on since this car doesn't come with a working engine that the mechanic understands. I will never use them again nor let them in my house.
Description of Work: Refrigerator/freezer was not cooling on the refrigerator side. Unit has digital temp gauge in front that shows incorrect temp. Freezer cools good no refrigeration on refrigerator side.

After he left, the temperature didn't improve. I called Sears. When Sears came a few days later, I was standing there when he opened the cover to the diverter door, and the foam structure of the unit had been broken. The tech showed me how this had happened when the previous guy (from Green's) had opened it improperly. The Sears guy didn't break it. The Green's tech never mentioned that he had damaged the unit while trying to take it apart to examine it. I ended up having to replace the air diverter assembly, at a cost of over $300 (service call and parts). I might have had to do this anyway, but don't appreciate the Green's tech concealing the damage he did. I will not use them again and cannot recommend them.
Description of Work: My side-by-side refrigerator/freezer (Kenmore) was not keeping refrigerator cool enough, although freezer was fine. The technician dis-assembled the coil area and control door (which diverts air from freezer to fridge), and found no problems except that the door in the air diverter had been stuck closed but was now unstuck. He suggested that we should wait to see if it was only temporarily stuck (i.e., this visit fixed it). This seemed reasonable so that's what we did. But he concealed the effect of a mistake he made that damaged the unit, and in the process he had set us up to need another call.

Dan called ahead to say he was coming and arrived early in the schedule window. He was courteous and helpful with thermostat decision and advising clearing garden plants around A/C unit.

Service was excellent, they were timely and friendly. HOWEVER, they wanted $190 just for the igniter, which is about a $50 part. Seriously, that is some crazy mark-up. I definitely will not be using them again if that's how much they mark up their parts by.

My dryer had a strong "burning" odor when I ran it. The dryer had sat in storage for over a year, and I was worried about the possibility of fire. I called and a left a message on Friday. They returned my call promptly on Monday, and I had same day service. Paul arrived on time, and promptly diagnosed my problem. The dryer was just dusty, and needed time to "burn off," no chance of fire. I ran the dryer for 30 minutes as suggested, and the smell is gone. They charged a flat fee, which includes diagnosis, and small repair. I felt it was worth the money to know I was not going to catch my new home on fire. I will use this company again and again.
Description of Work: Gave me advice on the problem my dryer had. Was very attentive to my worries, and made me at ease when the problem was diagnosed.

In the future I will not have them reinstall the problem part. I am more then willing to pay the $65 service fee for them to diagnose the problem and then get the part myself and put it in.
Description of Work: The gentleman that came out was very kind and quick. Performed work needed and got stove up and running. My problem was, I was charged $144 for a $50 part. I understand you have to mark up the parts but 200% seems a little crazy to me.

As usual with Green's, all went well. Green's also does my annual service; their staff is always friendly and readily answers any questions I have and that's something I really appreciate.
Description of Work: The igniter on my furnace went out on a day it was 15 degrees and Green's was able to come out quickly and had the right part to get the job done on the same trip.

I did have to wait about four or five days for an appointment, which I wasn't crazy about. I was given a window of 90 minutes. The tech arrived 60 minutes into that. He was courteous and friendly, just right (I didn't get his name). The tech ran the dryer, after I showed him how (touchscreen, unfamiliar to him). He watched a temperature probe readout for five to eight minutes, and the dryer ran normally. He pulled the front panel, and watched some more. It became obvious the problem was a coil that turned off too soon. The tech retrieved a $10 part from the truck and installed it, after I approved the cost. The trip charge was $65, the flat rate repair was $64.65. It seems expensive, but knowing what to do was worth it, and I did not. I could do this repair myself in the future, now that I know, but I didn't know, so it was worth the payment. I would use this company again, and recommend them to others.
Description of Work: The service tech diagnosed and repaired a problem where a dryer was taking much longer to dry clothes, even after a vent cleaning.
