This was a good experience.
Description of Work: We had to have a new water heater installed once we moved to our home. Contacted Greens to have a look and said it needs repaired immediately and is dangerous. This is also what the Mid American gas tech had told us a few days prior. Greens arrived promptly and took care to not damage our home when removing the old water heater via the stairs and door. The unit looks good and works great.

I bought an offer for Green's off Angie's List. I called on a Monday & they were able to come the following day. They gave me an accurate time frame for arrival. Their office called to tell me when I was the next service call and again when he was on his way. He found a bad condenser. He brought it to me with his tester and thoroughly explained its function and that it was running low. He replaced the part right away. I was impressed that he took the time to explain why it needed to be replaced and showed me that it was not functioning within the parameter recommended on the part. While he was here, he found that the humidifier on my furnace was not working. He showed me by taking the cover off. The dust was incredible. I had no idea it was supposed to be cleaned periodically and the filter rinsed off. There is black mold on the fan blades. He explained that I may know someone (friend or family for example) that may be able to do it. I don't and I wouldn't dare try to fix it. He also showed me when wires connected that looked suspicious (even to me!). He said that he would have the owner of the company call me with a quote and the office would set up a time to replace it. He said that I should hear either that day or the next. Soon will be the 3rd day after his visit & I have yet to hear from Dan. That would be my only complaint. The service man identified that the humidifier is broken. I'm a Nurse Practitioner and voiced my concern about the apparent black mold on the blades. I would have expected to have heard by now. I will therefore call for quotes on replacing it other places while I patiently wait for the "call right back" I was to receive.

Our dryer was making a horrible noise. We called Green's Applance. The service person was prompt, professional, and very knowlegable of the problem. No way did he try to sell us something we did not need but just gave us the facts of the needed repair. It was fixed in a short time and we are VERY satisfied.The cost was reasonal We will definately use this company again

We had a problem with the AC unit. The fan went out on the outside unit over Labor Day weekend. I was able to get a new fan before the parts supplier closed and replaced the fan so we had AC over the weekend. I have worked in maintenance for over 25 years so this part of the problem was not all that difficult. Our unit is old and has had air flow issues for some time but this time after running solid for 2 days it was not bringing the temp inside down more than 2 or 3 degrees each day. The unit was not frozen up but it did not seem like the air flow through the A coil was very good. We had the same problem about 10 years ago and had a company in that had to remove the coil and clean it out. Then the air flow from the registers in the house had good airflow. About 5 years ago we had a very large remodel done on the house so I thought the dirt that was created during this time finally caught up to us. I contacted Greens because of their rating on Angles List and we are looking at replacing the heating and AC unit in the house so I thought this was a good time to check out their service department. When I contacted Greens the person the answered the phone to schedule the service call to have the A coil cleaned and get a ball park price on the work was very professional, I was very impressed with the person that I worked with then. We schedule the service work she offered to have a service tech call me to answer all the questions I had about the air flow issue. The tech called about half an hour later and listened to my problem and told me he was actually doing the same thing later that day on another call. He gave me a ball part price and I thought we were on track to figure out a way to solve the issue I had. The day that they were supposed to show up there was an issue with the person that was schedule to do the work and another tech called at around 7:00 am to let me know he was on the way and explain about the change. The young man showed up and seemed to be OK. He came in and looked at the unit checked the temperature drop across the A coil and I explained about the cooling issue and the air flow concerns I had. We went outside to look at the outside unit and the fan was not running but was hot. I explained to him about the fan issue I had over Labor Day weekend and replaced it myself as I was not sure if they would have one in stock. I explained to him in the past for some reason parts for this unit were hard to get. He told me they could have probably gotten one but it would have been really expensive beings it was a holiday. He pulled off the panel and as he was looking at the wiring diagram I tried to explain what I had done. He looked at me with a discussed face and told me he needed to concentrate on the diagram and it was apparent he did not what to talk to me so I left and came back inside. A short time later he came in and told me he had found a loose connection and showed me a connector that he replaced. He gave me the impression that he thought I had done this work but it was nothing I had worked on because it was in the control wiring. We went down to the unit downstairs and he checked the temp drop across the A coil and told me that was fine now. When he first looked at it there was a drop of around 13 degrees now there was a change of about 18 degrees. I explained again to him about the air flow issue and my concern about the coil being dirty. He told me I really needed to get one of the high efficiency filters and replace the cheaper one I was using. He never actually looked at the A coil or anything inside the down stairs unit or checked the air flow either at the furnace or at any of the ducts in the house. We went upstairs to the thermostat and he told me what I needed to do was run the fan all the time and showed me how to set the control so the fan would never shut off. I found this very upsetting because if you have to leave a fan run all the time there is a problem. I did not need a work around I was looking for someone to take an interest in my problem and come up with a solution. This guy had no interest in doing that. He gave me the bill I paid it and he left. At this time maybe he did not know how to remove an A-coil and reinstall it I am not sure or maybe he just did not want to do the work because it takes about 3 to 4 hours to do this work. I do not have the specialty tools required to do this work or I would have done it myself. I wish the person that I had used in the past had not retired. I would not recommend them and will not have them back. Maybe I just got a bad employee but that also sends flags up about the rest of the organization as far as the field service personal. I am looking for someone that I can trust to listen to my concerns offer me options to repair my heating and air conditioner. This was not the contractor I was looking for and will continue to look until I can find this company before I buy my new unit.
Description of Work: They found a loose wire on the AC condensor outside and repaired that wire. The probelm was this is not what the main issue was. They were called in because there was very little air coming out of the registers in my house. I still have that issue today.

What was not mentioned in this review was Green’s technician discovered the motor was running backwards. That was the reason the central air was not cooling well and the main issue. This motor was improperly installed by the homeowner and not by our company. After fixing the wiring issue with the motor his unit was working properly. We take pride in guaranteed service with a warranty. We do not always get it right the 1st time (no one is perfect), however we always honor our service, diagnosis and repairs! Sometimes when our company has to pick up repairs someone else has started it can be complicated. But we will try our hardest to fix the issue you are having. Recommendations to run the fan continuous for even comfortable temperature is an industry standard, the owners of Green’s have theirs set at home like so. Unfortunately not everyone is happy with service. However a phone call to the General Manager would have cleared this matter up quite easily. We apologize if you feel like our technician did not care about your concerns or questions. However as you mentioned in the review our office staff took care of you as well as the technician you spoke to on the phone provide you with kind knowledge. Everyone has bad days and we like to know if you felt wronged. Our General Manager is very eager to fix problems and situations.

We started with the repair guy being concerned about the foliage around the fan box being poison oak though it was small maple trees, I believe. It was about 100 degrees and I hacked the plants and weeds down with a kitchen knife as that's all I could find. I probably should have thought to do that before. He checked the electrical, I think it was, on the fan box. He thought the breaker might have been triggered due to the large amount of dirt on the filter on fan box making the air draw harder. We then looked at the A/C in basement and the temp was checked. He checked the filter and strongly advised me to remove the pre-filter the allergy company had put in. The energy saver box puzzled him and he later admitted he didn't know much about them. He thought it was an 8 minute delay until it came on after the breaker was switched so we waited 8 minutes 2 or 3 times, tried the breaker and then it wouldn't work. My husband later called MidAmerican Energy and learned it is a 15 minute delay. So we were starting too early each time and then restarting the 15 minutes delay. Meanwhile he showed me how to clean the filter with the hose so it will run better. He didn't write anything on the receipt so it was unclear what the outcome was. (I had to leave to pick up my son and the repair guy gave me the choice to have him stay until he could get the A/C to come on and make a final assessment or go and come back out waiving the $89 stop by fee). My husband later called the company and he was emailed the info. I may have rushed the worker when I had to leave. But we were at 45 minutes at that point. Th unit ran fine after that. He said maybe the compressor is going bad. Maybe cleaning it really helped. They came in two days which I thought was very good as it was super hot this week. He was nice and professional and management was very helpful in promptly getting us the info we wanted. I feel it was worth it to learn how to clean it. But if he had called MidAmerica when he was here or already understood their box I think it might have saved me some time and money.
Description of Work: The A/C wasn't performing well. We had Green's check it out. He showed me how to wash the outside fan box and removed the A/C extra allergy filter we had, saying it was impeding air flow. He measured the electrical stuff on the fan box outside and the temp of the air inside the A/C unit.

We try to keep our technician's informed on such things and we apologize for him not being more knowledgable. We do recommend having your central air serviced once a year in the spring. Especially with bushes or other debris surrounding the units. Having them cleaned prior to heavy usage can prevent failures or high energy costs. I liked the fact that their trip charge is slightly less than everybody else I called. Their trip cost is probably $75 to come out and diagnose or do whatever they do whereas most people charge hundred and a quarter or more. When they say they are going to be there, they give a half a day window or sometimes a two hour window if they can. They call me when their service person is leaving their previous assignment and coming to my house which is very nice. They have been very efficient and tidy. They will tell if they don’t have the part on the truck and if they need to come back with the part or if they have to get that part. They were very good about telling me whether they thought it was a good value for me or a lost cause. I’ve had two different people come out and both of them seemed like they really knew what they were doing. They were very courteous and they didn’t have to be there for a long time because they were efficient. I would say one can trust them.

Honesty is the most important quality to look for when it comes to any repair service. The technician who examined by dishwasher told me I could do the repair myself, and where I could buy the part I needed to do it. The repair, not counting the trip to get the part, took about 10 minutes, and saved me over $150! If anything else goes wrong with any of my appliances I know where I can get an honest opinion.

Did that in last question. My conclusion was that he could have made a nice check had he not been straight with me. I was pleased with an honest evaluation which basicly gave me the excuse to switch stoves.
Description of Work: Wanted to have non functioning lower element of range replaced. Was told labor cost would be high due to difficulty of access to enclosed element. Decided to go with getting a new one. He also checked out my microwave which I had not used for a year due to bad noises. Found out it still works, but no way to know how long the noisy magnatron would work.

When they first put it in, there was a malfunction in the unit. They came back over and over again and couldn’t find the problem so they said they would replace the whole thing and they did. It works great now and I appreciate their follow-up.

Installation crew arrived on time. The work was estimated to take two days. System was functional for providing cooling at the end of first day (installed during heat advisory weather). Any concerns or questions were addressed promptly. Work was completed by mid-day of day two. Installers reviewed maintenance and thermostat operations with us. The company office contacted us to make sure we were happy with system and asked it we had any questions. This company provides great customer service.
Description of Work: This company assessed problems with our old AC system before they tried to sell us anything. System was 20+ years old and repairs were not cost effective due to age of system. This company made recommendations for replacement system. We chose this company because: They explained in detail, differences in current AC and gas furnace systems and what would work best for the size and energy efficiency of our house. They discussed why they prefer the brands of AC and gas furnace systems that they install in residential homes. The estimate was detailed with each part listed separately and its cost. Parts and labor warranties were included on estimate. We also chose to replace our old water heater because it was 20+ years old and they offered a discount on installation since they would need to move the water heater to install the new heating/cooling system.

It's important to find someone that will not take advantage of my lack of knowledge. Green's is it for residential HVAC.
Description of Work: I called Green's today. Two hours later my furnace is fixed and ready for winter without a replacement. I also found out that I know the owners of this business - great family. I will always go with Greens from now on. Called at 2 PM At my house at 4:30 Furnace fixed at 5:30 Nice guy, easy to understand, explained things to me, they definitely earned my trust.

We decided to go with this company because their estimate was about 40% less than another company that gave us an estimate. They were also much more honest and told us exactly what we needed rather than trying to up sell us. The owner will call us and explain what is broken and how to fix it in layman?s terms which was very helpful. In terms of the actual repair, the quality of work was excellent. They always call when they are on their way; they are extremely dependable and efficient. The technicians are very skilled and highly personable. They even charged us less than the estimate.

called Green's for service. told them it wasn't an emergency but we wanted to get problem fixed After 10 days, I called back to check on service. There was some confusion about waiting on a part; since no one had ever been here, i thought that didn't make sense. TAfter some discussion, the dispatcher set up an appointment for 2 days later. The technician showed up and I tried to explain the problem. He didn't seem to think he could fix it. Then he went out to his truck. When he returned, I ask him if he was going to schedule someone else. No, he was going to fix it. I asked him if he could check the freon (we had just moved in and I hadn't had the unit serviced). He said they could only do that during an annual service check which would have to be scheduled separately. His attitude during the call was less than professional or helpful. Didn't seem to want to be here. Today we had a message from Greens wanting to schedule an appointment; apparently they didn't know anyone had been here. I have used Greens for 15 years; even purchased an new HVAC system from them. I had good service from them until the last couple of years. I have not been happy with the quality of the last 3 technicians. Probably will look elsewhere next time.

I called Green's. They sent a tech very promptly to the rental property that had a problem. The tech informed me by phone of the problem and offered two solutions. One would have required additional expense and the ordering of a new part. Or he said he could fix it satisfactorily with items he had on hand. I chose the less expensive solution and have had no problems since his repair. I was very pleased with his communication, promptness, inventiveness, and service. As always, the price was very fair.

It went very well, it had been 95 degrees in the upstairs sleeping area and the AC cooled it right down.
Description of Work: Did seasonal maintenance on AC. Custom trimmed a platform for the upstairs window AC on a very hot day, got heavy window AC mounted on custom platform
