Service Legends Heating & Cooling

My furnace was blowing cold air only, on the coldest weekend of the year. I had just changed the furnace filter in December so I knew that wasn't the issue. I scheduled an appointment with Service Legends for the next day. The gentleman I spoke to asked me if I had checked the batteries on my thermostat and tried to direct me in finding them. It wasn't until I got off of the phone that I was able to locate the battery compartment. I changed the batteries and had hot air blowing throughout my home immediately! His advice allowed me to cancel my appointment and although they didn't get my business for the next day, I will definitely call them in the future for any furnace issues! My total cost: $0.00!

The tech, Kaleb, was able to come out a little earlier than scheduled. I have a service contract with Service Legends, where I pay $19.95 per month. This comes with a free a/c check in the spring and a free furnace check in the fall. If there are any repairs, I get a 20% discount. First of all, the techs that Service Legends employs are top-notch. They are the most professional and pleasant service people I have ever encountered. They are polite and they let you know what they'll be doing and give you an estimate on how long the job will take. They go over any problems they may have found. Before they go, they make sure they have answered all your questions.

Very good communication throughout the process. Initial consultation took almost 2 and half hours, which was a little much, but they took great effort to explain the process and educate me on options. Installation lasted about 3 hours. Installers were extremely polite and professional. After the install their was an issue that the City Inspector found with Code on the electrical breaker for the A/C unit and they came out and took care of the issue with out any additional charge or hassle. Overall I give them a B+. Would recommend to others.

Have been using Service Legends for the past 3 years, to nurse 30 year old furnace. Recommend getting the service contract, it saved us $$ in service calls and parts. They even came out a few times and never charge us, just clean and tighten parts. The furnace would not turn on, the mother board was gone. Original parts could not be found. They found a part that was recommended but not guaranteed , the part cost $650. We decided to go with a furnace. They made us an appointment with a tech/specialist, (Josh) who measured our attic insulation, windows and house square footage. He also look at our furnace and said with his calculations, we had to large of a furnace for our house size. After looking at our heating and cooling bills, counting the number of vents , return registers and the wife stating that our upstairs bedrooms is considerable warmer in the summer then downstairs, he found the problem. No return registers in the upstairs bedrooms. He said he could sell us the largest furnace he could find (such as the one we had) but that wouldn't solve our upstairs cooling problems. Since the house is finish, he was concern on how to route ventilation upstairs, without making and eye soar. He took pictures and his recommendations for the installers. He even came back on his day off to take more measurements. The installers arrived a week later and were on time and very professional. They included us in every decision and the final decision was to take the ventilation from the basement, thru the dinning room, thru a bedroom to the attic. Although, we need to add a drywall to the living room ands bed room the end justify the means. Now when we run the air conditioner, we are just as cool upstairs as downstairs and I notice that the furnace does not come on nearly as many time. One other thing is very important, when they give you a quote. its guaranteed......if they run into any problems it will not cost you a dime more...and they put it in writing.

Employees were professional Project was completed in a timely manner. We have had the unit for a year and we are happy with both units.

Installed it the first time, you could stick your hand in the holes in the duct work, came back a 2nd time didn't do anything, 3rd time they did some patching but there were still some holes, and it wasn't anchored to anything, they had to clean it twice and I still had dirt flying out of one of the vents recently. The ductwork they installed is all dented it looks terrible, every time you look at it looks sick, and there are scratches on the furnace and the exterior unit isn't level.

Bottom line is I told him to leave, paid him his money, and called another company Dayton Heating and cooling. Yes the part was bad, and cost around $200 to fix. Furnace is still working fine by the way. I would not recommend this company to anyone. My opinion based upon my experience.

Nothing! Their website states they have "true" 24 hours emergency service. Called and they asked all kind of questions just to find out the next available service date was November 27th which is Thanksgiving day??? Seriously would you go without heat for 14 days??? How is this considered "true" emergency service???

I wasn't able to receive service unless I paid them the $240 annual "club" dues. Even after paying the dues, I had to pay $100 to even get a service person to look at the furnace. So, $340 just to get on their calendar...and then we would need to wait for a week before we could get a technician....all while my furnace is not working properly. I asked her to give me a second so that I could talk to my husband about it and was put on hold immediately. I talked with my husband and we decided to hang up since we were on hold.

Kaleb was the tech and was on time, big for me,he explained everything he was going to be doing to our Furnace and AC unit.He was here a 1 1/2 hr and then went over everything that was done.Cleaned up every where he was and wore those plastic booty's on his feet while in the house.Very professional company and have never had any problem's with any of the tech's they send!! Would recommend them to everyone.

Their service is second to none! They were here when they said they would be, nothing but professional! they replaced the entire system, installed a whole house humidifier, two new thermostats and zone control. We had a hiccup with wiring friday (after they completed the job) but as promised they were here on sunday to fix it. We are confident we made the right choice in Service Legends - their staff are awesome, customer service is second to none and their technicians are skilled, professional and considerate. there is a little drywall work left to be completed - but we are confident they are going to resolve that this coming week - couldn't be happier with our new heating and cooling system. We will recommend them to all of our friends - we have the confidence of a great team, established in Des Moines with a great reputation - what more could we ask for? we are confident that our forever home will be warm in the winter and cool in the summer couldn't be happier - thanks service legends! We look forward to many more years in our home knowing that our system is in your care --- we are customers for life!

I haven't liked anything about them yet. They could improve the service by staying behind their commitment, there were things not done. The price was reasonable.

Furnance not working on a Friday evening, leaving town on Saturday around noon. Called Service Legends and explain the situation, the young lady said they could be out on Saturday before noon. Got a call at 8 AM , the service person was on their way. He found the problem was a faulty capacitor, replaced it and sold us a monthly plan for $19.99... plus discounted the service call. My wife was very impressed with his professionalism and service. The whole expierence took about and hour and we received a follow up call from their office making sure someone was their before noon so we could make our trip.

In a routine inspection a gas leak was detected in my basement. Mid American came out and shut of my gas. The only company willing to fit my needs into their busy schedule was Service Legends. They came to my home three times: once to assess the situation, once to service and a second time to install a custom fit pipe to fix the gas leak. They only charged me for one service call. They were prompt, professional and attentive even though by most standards this was a "small" job. I got top service. The service manager also made a visit. Top recos all around. I wish I had known about them years ago because they also have a yearly service plan that probably would have caught the gas leak. Many thanks to TJ and Nick.

I called three providers and they had the best bid. They did the best job.

Things went well. Their personal approach is very good. They seem very personable.

I chose to get a quote from Service Legends because of their high ratings on Angie's list and their Service Shield award. My experience with the representatives on the phone was excellent. They are a marketing and experience machine with well build materials, scripts and promises. But my first experience with their sales representative was absolutely awful. Service Legends tries to distinguish itself based on its guarantees. And the person on phone boasted that the sales person would be there and be there on time. Well, the sales rep is late, no call. I call the company and they check and the last appointment ran late. Ok. thats understandable. Then the guy gets to my home. I walk through him in my home showing him the objective, he seems fairly uninterested. We get upstairs and he starts his scripted pitch. He goes through all of the guarantees and materials provided quickly and as though he does not understand them himself. He gets to a stopping point and asks me to choose what I want and sign. But at this point he can't articulate what it is that I am choosing between. He was not able to give me feature, price or benefit comparisons. it got so frustrating that I politely asked him to leave. I called the company and they seems to understand. They sent out another sales person/tech. This person was much better and very knowledgable. He did not try to sell me on something that I did not have the answers to. He was on par with some of the better bids I got in terms of knowledge. When I received the bid from Service Legends, I was surprised that it was so high. Easily two to three grand above comparable equipment. When I inquired, the jist was that they guaranteed their work and if I got a bad installer from a cheaper company that I would pay for it for years in service calls. Also, I did not feel like many of the quotes, properly accessed my tonnage requirements and ductwork. For this high price, I would expect them to do everything thoroughly. When I inquired, I was told not to worry because "they would not do it wrong since they are guaranteeing their work. I did not go with them in the end. Although they may do a great job, so did the one I found at a lower price. And what is the worth of the guarantee if I am paying for it in the price. If something goes wrong with my current system beyond the pretty good guarantee I got, I have the money to get it fixed. Either way I have service calls, but the way I went, I have the money in the bank if things go well. I think this is a good company but if you have the time to keep searching, you will probably get the work done for much less. I did not go with the lowest bid by far, but had a great experience with another highly rated Angie's list company. Hopefully, my initial experience with the one sales rep was unusual. If anything, I learned from my search that everyone says they are the best. Everyone says that the other guy has issues. Everyone says that their brand is the right one. But the person that takes the time to listen and evaluate and takes care with my home when visiting will always win my business.

Went well. Technicians spent considerable time at the job. Had to wait at the job to have the proper fan motor delivered for installation. After installation, all worked fine.

They were really professional. We liked them. They're ingenuine. They gave us a breakdown of what we could do in different techniques. I felt like they took our concerns to heart and they provided service that we requested. They were very friendly. They all seemed very competent. They also did a follow-up phone call which I really appreciated.

See above. Have had many friends use them and have better luck. So I might use them again when I need a quote for new furnace and A/c. Was very disappointed in the poor way my club memembership was handled.

Service was exceptional as it always is! The Tech, Austin, was personable, knowledgeable, and outstanding in his service today. He came in and immediately put on his shoe protecters and explained what he was going to be doing. He went about completing the service to our A/C while answering my husbands questions and conversing in small talk. He was prompt and cleaned up after himself right away.

When my husband and I were looking for a new air conditioner and furnace we were looking for two things: a high quality piece of equipment and good, reliable customer service. Service Legends exceeded our expectations with both. First, Tim, their senior sales technician, was friendly, prompt and thorough. Their estimate beat all the competition. The crew that installed our unit, Chad and Josiah, was on time, efficient, and clean. They left no mess and our new unit is working perfectly. I'd recommend Service Legends to anyone because I'm positive they will get the same, wonderful results we did.

The service person was courteous at all times. Answered all my question. I will use Service Legends for all my properties in the future. Highly recommend. Gregg
