I got them off of Angie's List. I didn't end up using them. They came out to do the job and they were great. They did a really good job. I was getting a smell from my vent area and I was afraid that there could be an animal in there or something. I just wasn't sure and I ended up finding out what it was. It wasn't an animal that was in there. They tried to look down the vent and stuff like that. When they came in, they did the diagnostic test and ended up finding it so I didn't end up using them any further. I was happy with how prompt and how nice they were. They did the diagnostic evaluation and the guy looked down and gave me an estimate and let me when I needed anything further what that would cost. The price that they quoted me was average.
Description of Work: I had Service Legends Heating And Cooling come out in February as I wanted my ducts looked at.

They’ll make it right or it’s free. That’s a very broad term so be very careful. We put in a brand new system and we wanted a dual system. They said no, that the one they put in would work and it didn't. Then they made us pay $700 more to fix it and I lost my pantry and linen closet to try to fix the duct work and it's still not right. So fixing it right or it's free? $700 is not fixing it right or it's free. They are very punctual.
Description of Work: Service Legends Heating and Cooling came out in the fall to service the furnace. We have a package deal with them. We bought our furnace with them and we have to use them or our warranty is void.

The service person was very thorough, and must have spent at least an hour and a half going over the furnace. We had the impression he was continuing until he found something wrong. He said the capacitor was not showing full strength and could go out sometime, and advised us to put in a new one, which we did. ...................... The service person for another company that we later used to perform a service check-up on our furnace this fall said a capacitor either goes bad or continues working -- it does now show/matter if it might be at less than full strenth/ level..... He also said this company is known amoung other HVAC companies for offering low-priced check-ups, but often then finds something wrong, and earns more by replacing the part and charges for that labor.
Description of Work: I called this company because of a low offer of $49.99 offer to do a furnace check-up.

The work was done in a professional manner. The explanation was ok, even though I didn't understand the need for a new capacitor. The sales pitch for the service contract was a bit over the top.
Description of Work: First of all the $99.00 just to open the furnace door I found excessive. The tech told me my 11 year old furnace was in good shape.The problem was the heat sensor which was replaced. Along with a pressure switch and motor capacitor. Now,I have never had to buy a pressure swithch or a heat sensor, but I have bought a capacitor. Given a cost of $30.00 for the part and a 30% markup, thats $39.00 for the part, which leaves $126.00 labor. And another $165.00 for the heat sensor, and another $165.00 for the pressure switch. I'm sorry, but I feel your "up-front" pricing should be called "up rear" pricing.

Many companies just make the repair and hand you a bill. Because of the value that Service Legends delivers we are not the cheapest price. We are in the service business. Recommendations that our technicians make are to extend the life of your system and prevent future breakdowns. It is the client’s choice to make those repairs. Our prices are set so that we can put a safe background checked drug tested technician in your home that has hundreds of hours of training each year. Called them up early in the morning on a cold day. They came out that day to take a look. Originally, they were scheduled to show up between 11:00 and 1:00pm, but they called me at 12:30 to let me know that a service technician was not going to make it out on time. So, the technician arrived about 1:30pm. He got to work and found that the ignitor had gone bad. I was given the $315 price and had that replaced. Once that once done, he gave my system a good look to see how things were running. That is when he found the bad capacitor that needed to be changed. It was going to cost another $165 to fix that piece of it. I was originally charged for this part, but after working with them later, that part was refunded because I was not given an adequate explanation for why the price would be so high for that part. Since we were able to work through the communication issues that we had, I am now a happy customer of this service. They took the time to follow up with me and turned what could have been a bad experience into a much better one. Everything is now up and running and the house is getting heated again.
Description of Work: Heater quit working. Had new ignitor installed as well as new capacitor. Ignitor - $315 Capacitor - $165 - refunded Service Call - $100 Had 5% off parts and labor and 1/2 off of service call. So, after the coupon and the refund, it lowered the total from $580 to $341

During a furnace tune-up the technician discovered a dangerous leak in one of the furnace heat exchangers. He used a video camera so I could see the crack for myself, then thoroughly reviewed my options and the pricing. We decided on a new furnace. They had someone come out to the house to review options, measure to ensure we got the right size furnace for the house, then got us an appointment the very next business day! The woman who came to our home for the consultation was incredibly friendly and very knowledgable. They followed up the same day to ensure we were satisfied. They also responded within an hour when we noticed an error in our address information in their files. I highly recommend them!

My furnace was 16 years old and I wasn't sure if it had ever been serviced -- I moved in a year ago. I had to reschedule with them 2-3 times before they actually came because they were super late both times, but when they actually came they were very nice....until they told me my furnace was going to be $2,500 to repair. I mean, they were nice about that too, but I definitely wasn't expecting that. Due to the nature of the damage to my furnace, the inspector had to condemn it, shut it down, and tag it. The same day someone else from the company came out to talk prices for a new furnace. He was also very nice, but it was far more of a time consuming process than I think it should have been. They set up to come out the next day to install a new furnace and did give me space heaters which warmed the house well in the meantime.

I had my furnace checked by Service Legends because of a promotion. My furnace was installed in the late 70s and had never been checked or cleaned. I was not chastised for this. The young man who came was prompt, courteous, respectful, through and knowledgeable. He talked and answered questions so I could understand him. I did not feel pressured to buy a new furnace. I will definitely call Service Legends with my next H&C repair and when I need to replace my system.

We use a military grade heat exchanger inspection camera on every service call to ensure that the system is safe and free from breaches in the heat exchanger. If anyone on our teams ever diagnoses a system inaccurately the service is free. I do not know if our technician made a mistake or not. I do know that if he failed your heat exchanger and was not accurate you would receive a new furnace for free from Service Legends. We are considered experts in our field and do not take lightly our diagnostics of systems. If we made a mistake we will make it right. Please let us know when our Operations Manager can evaluate if your system has a failed heat exchanger or not. If it is not we will gladly provide you with a free replacement furnace, on us. We had used another heating/air conditioning company for 20 years and although the service was initially excellent, over the years it degraded. Leaking air conditioning-related pipes near the furnace continued to be patched, the humidifier continued to malfunction and leak, the air conditioner would run and run and never seem to quite cool the house. They never seemed to correct the problem -- just in and out of the house in 30-45 minutes with their check in hand and problem unresolved. Enough. I found Service Legends on Angie's List. So I started asking people I worked with. Some had also used them and were very happy. Armed with the positive recommendations and an Angie's List coupon they posted, I gave them a call indicating that I wanted to discuss their prices for annual maintenace. The person I spoke with was extremely friendly, explained their picing structure, and spent quite a bit of time answering questions I had. i decided to schedule a maintenace (rather than service) call with them. They worked with my schedule and made an appointment for a week later. I received a phone call before they arrived, exactly as promised, notifying me who was coming and when they would arrive - right on time!!!! The maintenance person came to the door, covered his feet with "booties" so as not to make a mess on the floor. We sat down and he spent time talking about their services, printed detailed pricing (everyone gets charged the same amount for the same type of service), but most importantly, asked about any problems i had been been having with the air conditioning. This was near the end of that miserable extended 90-100 degree heat wave we had. The air conditioner had been running all day non-stop but still would not bring the house down to a comfortable temperature. I thought that it was probably just due to the unbelievably extended hot weather and high humidity. Wrong. The maintenance person went outside and down to the basement to give the air conditioning unit and furnace an initial once over and called me down to look at what he had found. In addition to the leaky pipe near some "gizmo" that sits outside the furnace, this meter was completely iced over and dripping into the furnace area. He then showed me the inside of the blower box on top of the furnace - it was COMPLETELY blocked with ice! No wonder it wasn't working. He explained that he couldn't do any maintenance or service because of the ice problelm, that the air conditioning needed to be turned off so that it could thaw overnight, and someone would be back the next morning (even though it was Saturday). It was one long hot rest of the day and night. But bright and early the next morning, and just like the previous day, i got the pre-phone call and the maintenance guy was back on time. He donned the booties again, went downstairs to work, and then outside, and then inside an hour later and gave me the news - the icing was caused by low refrigerant. He added what was needed and the air conditioner immediately started putting out unbelievably cold air. He quickly checked the humidifer and told me that it shoulddefinitely be replaced as it had pitted so much, water settled inside, becoming stale andwas filled with mold - not good for the major allergies our family has. Because it was Saturday, he didn't have time to complete the bi-annual maintenance that was needed but scheduled someone to come out a few days later. I also scheduled someone to come out and provide me information about additional services they provided - related to those allergy problems. After an extensive discussion with this no-pressure consultant, I asked for pricing on several items. I received a written bid (and knew the prices were not inflated because I had already received the pre-printed literature with stated prices during the previous service call). I handed him the Angie's List coupon and he took that off of the price. I told him I wanted to schedule the duct cleaning wiht the maintenance and said I would think about the rest of the items and let him know. Two days later I called him and agreed to also include the air filter and humidifier. He indicated that all of the work could be done in the same day. The worker came out as promised and spent almost 4 hours on the duct cleaning. Half way through, i asked him when he thought he could be done installing the filter and humdifier. He didn't know anything about it as it was not on his work order. He did manage to get the filter from the company and got it installed anyway, but was unable to install the humidifier because they didn;t have the correct size - another call had to be scheduled adn terh work was completed. It's more than 2 weeks later and the air conditioner has never cooled better, there is no more ice developing on the meter, there is no water dripping into the furnace, my family thinks that the house smells fresher (less dusty), and there is truely less dust settling on the computer and TV screen (where you notice it the most)!!! SUMMARY The positives - read above!!! The negatives - just one the consultant needs some more education and more attention to detail. He told me that all of the air vents would be sealed off during the duct cleaning, and I would find absolutely nothing on the floors after the work was completed. NOT. The vents were not sealed, and weren't supposed to be and there was a small amount of dirt that did show up on the floors at each vent. He told me that the detritus obtained from the duct cleaning would be captured in a bag so that I might perhaps be able to find that necklace that dissappeared so many years ago or the GI Joes that I know the kids lost when they used the vents as burial grounds not realizing that they would truely be buried forever. NOT. Everybody's dirt gets sucked into the same truck waiting outside. Because he did not add the air filter and humidifier to the job order, the service man was unduly embarassed by the snafu and had to scramble to make up for it. And I had to have yet another call to be scheduled. But in the end, am I happy! You betcha!

Service Legends delivers on its promise of excellent service. We have been servoce club members since 2008 and have had a great experience with courteous, knowledgeable, hard working technicians and sales reps at our home. They answer calls promptly and deliver on their promise of timely service. However, I just replaced my heating and A/C system and went with another contractor. The reason I changed is because I wanted a written estimate from them for a new system that I could compare with estimates from other contractors for new systems. I was willing to factor in the additional guarantees they provide when comparing prices. However, without a written estimate, it was too difficult for me to make line by line comparisons. I'm sorry to say - my business has gone elsewhere because I did not receive a written estimate from them for new equipment that I could compare with the other estimates I received.

I pay them a monthly fee of about $19.99 so I get priority for any service calls. That also covers the check on the furnace in the fall and the air in the spring. I had to pay for a pad that keeps it from accumulating mold. They are wonderful people. They are outstanding and I will use them in the future.

I was very very impressed with the professionalism of this company. The gentleman, Mark, our estimator discussed why we should go with a different filter system and explained why we needed to get this adjustment done for the betterment of the air conditioning/furnace units. Mark explained the mechanics of the air flow in a way that I could understand. The actual servicemen that did the work were very professional. They wore foot protection so that they would not track in and were extremely polite and professional. I have never seen such a professional group of servicemen before. They were outstanding. One serviceman even assisted me with putting window washer fluid in my vehicle. Since I am significantly disabled and can not do this task very easily, this was very welcome assistance. I entrusted them to lock up the house after they were completed, and they did so without any problem. Service Legends gave me a call 48 hours after their work was complete to make sure everything was operating as it should. We can definitely tell a difference in the air quality and don't see dust particles floating in the air anymore. I would hire Service Legends again, without question. They are exceptional.

We have a service where we pay $20 a month and it gives us a free cleaning every year. I like that they come out and clean and diagnose every year and it is very simple. I dislike that I have this vague feeling that I am paying for something that I don't need. They do a lot of internal and we get a 10 percent discount and priority service but I feel vaguely that somehow I am getting ripped off. They do the job they are supposed to do. The price is okay. They are kind of like the 800-pound gorilla around here so they do get the chance to have better prices than others. They do so much work that they have that ability. They do quality work. There have been a few times lately when it is hard to get hold of them. They are very punctual and extremely professional. Unfortunately at the last visit we were given the bad news that we were going to need more extensive service. The sales guy didn't really fit the professional mode but nothing that was horrible. We would use them again.

Work proceeded well from the initial sales discussion. We had obtained quotes from three other reputable companies. Service Legends were not the lowest bid, but what sold us was the details and thoroughness of that quote with specific options that added value to the package. The screening process used by this company increased my comfort level as I was away during the installation period. The high level of respect & courtesy extended to my family & home during my absence insures our continued relationship and recommendations to others. A few follow up visits for the duct work cleaning and thermostat adjustments went well. We are well pleased with this company and their manner of conducting a customer service oriented approach to business.
Description of Work: We installed a complete new system, heat pump, evaporator coil (ac) furnace, humidifer, air cleaner, UV light system, digital touch screen thermostat, & duct cleaning. Plus other adjustments to the ductwork & wiring.

Joe the man who was doing my repair was extremly courtous, was able to explain things so that I would understand them without being rude/condencending. Awesome service, very prompt and so totally polite!!!
Description of Work: My furnace went out during the night and it was very cold in my house. I went on-line and submitted an emergency request at 5.30am CT. By 6.30am I had my service scheduled! Turns out my filter and a few other parts needed replaced. He explained what and why and showed me.

Overall, it was a good experience. There were a couple of glitches with scheduling and confirming the appointment, but I would definitely recommend using them and would use them again myself.
Description of Work: After a service call to check and clean my furnace, it was determined that my furnace should be replaced, and a new one was installed a couple of weeks later.
