Service Legends Heating & Cooling

We just bought first house a few months ago and on the first hot day of the year, we found out the A/C didn?t work. We were impressed by the high expectations advertised in a few of their company television commercials, so we called them up. We don?t know about heating and cooling units, or really much about things in the home so we needed to make sure we got someone that would be honest with us and not scam us out of a lot of money for a badly done job. I honestly cannot put into words how impressed I was with our first experience with Service Legends. I will (and had even by the next day) recommend Service Legends to all of our friends and family. When he first arrived, the technician gave me an introduction to the company, told me about the pricing points, company policy, and expectations of their workers. He was very friendly, well groomed, very knowledgeable. I felt completely comfortable with him going into and out of my home. The technician explained what he was doing, what was wrong, what needed to be fixed right away, and what things needed to be fixed eventually if I chose not to have it done today. He ended up being here for about 4 hours to fix our main issue, and to do a few smaller tune-ups to get our system in top shape. He was not rushed to get to another house, so I feel like he cared about me as a customer and wanted to make sure we were completely satisfied. He went above and beyond what I ever expected from a heating and cooling company!

As ALWAYS, Service Legends outdid themselves. It's going to sound like I work for the company when I give this review, but I assure you I do not. When I think of high value and elite customer service (not just HVAC but all industries), I immediately think of Service Legends. I've hired them for multiple services, including a complete overhaul of our home HVAC system when we moved in, and every time they have been professional, friendly, courteous, clean, informative, punctual, and thorough. When you call SL, you always get a live human being -- who, of course, is very friendly. The agents always arrive on time, usually preceded by a phone call, and they cover their shoes upon entering the house. They listen and respond in clear, layman's terms, yet it is obvious that they are also well-trained in their areas of expertise. When installing or maintaining our equipment, they are as unintrusive as possible, and as a father of four little ones I trust them while they're in my home. As far as I can tell, their prices are competitive but will not be the lowest. The extra you might pay will be well worth it, considering their guaranteed performance and quality service. They also offered me an attractive payment plan for the aforementioned overhaul which "sealed the deal" for me. I most recently had a humidifier installed in the HVAC system. I don't know whether or how well it works yet because I installed it at the end of the winter. However, the installer himself said he has the same thing in his home; in addition, it comes with a one-year SL warranty so that I can test it out through next winter. This gives me peace of mind that I made the right decision. I would (and do) recommend Service Legends to others in a heartbeat.

I am very happy with the service and product that I have received from Service Legends. From my representative Matt, the 2 gentlemen that installed by furnace and air, or the team members in the office everyone was cheerful, polite, and courteous. I especially like when you call "...how can I make you smile today?" Worked every time! We knew we needed to replace our 30 year old water heater. We had a technician from Service Legends come out for a check on our air conditioner while we had another company here for an estimate on the water heater replacement. After the other service provider left, we asked Service Legends if they provide water heaters as well, Alex let us know that they do. He immediately called to have a Service Rep come speak to us that day. Within an hour Danny came and discussed several options with us and we expressed a desire to have the water heater and gas lines moved. Danny explained that would not be a problem. They came the very next day, within 3 hrs they had all the work and clean up done. We are more then impressed with their professionalism, courteousness, attention to detail and promptness. We have used Service Legends for over 5 yrs, and we recommend them to everyone we know. We look forward to using them again.

We have a air recovery system in our house and it quit working after a power outages. I called several companies about repairing it with not a very good response. I bumped into Adam one of the Service Legands tech in the gas station and asked him about repairing the unit. I was very impressed with knowledge and professionalism. I called the company, scheduled an appointment, they called a half hour before the scheduled time, repaired the problem, gave me an estimate before the repair.My tech was very professional and knowledgable. I would recommend Service Legands to my family and friends.

They arrived on time. They made sure they would not track anything on the carpet by covering their shoes and putting down a runner from the outside door to the furnace room. They completed the project in about 7 hours, much faster than I expected. They did not leave any mess for us to clean up. They explained everything they did and went over everything we needed to know about the operation of the new system. We are very happy with the way things went.

I have been using Service legends since I purchased my house in 2009. They are the only heating and cooling company I will ever use! The office personnel are professional, understanding and very accommodating when you explain your problem, what you need. The personnel that they send to your home are also professional,understanding and very accommodating. They understand when you tell them that you are on a tight schedule and budget. They do everything in their power to get your needs met in your time and within your budget. The sales team does not put any pressure on you to purchase or try to "up-sell" you into something that is beyond what your needs are. As stated before, Service Legends is the only heating and cooling company that I will ever use. If they decide to branch out into other areas of service I will call them for those services too.

Service Legends Heating & Cooling contacted me to tell me of the news of my receiving a new furnace. From that first phone call through the whole process they were amazing. They were very kind and considerate and willing to work with my schedule. We set a day and time and they were here to measure the house and get all necessary information to complete the job. The day we set up for the installation, I was at work and when I got home I had a new furnace and everything of the old was gone. They did a terrific job. I am so grateful for the furnace and thank you to all those who had a part at Service Legends.

Good quality work... Timely. System much improved from better design and good installation.

We had trouble with the controller on our furnace/hvac. We got an estimate for repair as well as replacement of system. We decided to just do a system service for now. After the service the fan stayed on all the time. Service Legends said we need a new controller for $500. We contacted another company who had one for slightly less and had them install it. It turned out that Service Legends had wired the controller incorrectly, an honest mistake. We were a little upset at Service Legends, but true to their motto, they paid for the other companies service to fix the problem. Overall a positive experience.

I woke up and our furnace wasn't heating. The house was down to 58 degrees and I immediately called Service Legends. It was before 6:00 am and an actual Service Legends employee answered the phone. I was relieved that they would dispatch immediately and I wouldn't have to incur any additional fees for the emergency service or fees for not being in the normal business day. The technician arrived and solved the problem immediately. He was very informative and went over the part that had stopped working. We had heat restored very quickly. The technician made sure everything was working properly and cleaned up. I would recommend them to anyone looking for great service, great value and no extra fees.

The company called before coming to make sure the day still worked for us. The had given us a time frame of 2:00 - 4:00pm. They called again around noon and were able to come earlier than the scheduled time. The service guy was very personable and clean. I love that they put shoe covers on when coming into the house. We ran a garden hose up from our hydrant to the house for him to use and he even rolled the hose back up! He was very knowledgeable on the equipment and any suggested service he recommended. An additional bonus is that because my neice works for the company, we are signed up for the family plan, where Service Legends will come and check our furnace and ac each season for free! We pay for any necessary service or parts, but get to save the trip fee.

Our furnace decided to start acting up at 4 am by making loud noises. I contacted Service Legends and they were able to accommodate our 5 pm or after time frame. The tech was on time and professional. The tech made some adjustments to the adjuster screw. He also accidentally broke the clip that held our water line up as he was leaning on it. He told us he believed the problem was the motor and that to replace the motor would be $479 plus the service call of $99 for the inspection. We have replaced 2 other motors in the past 4 years, and didn't recall paying that much. Therefore, we told him that we did not want to replace the motor as it was still working, so he put the furnace back together. The tech also focused on attempting to sell us the service plan in which he told us that there would be a discount if the motor went out while we had the plan. The furnace seemed louder after the tech put it back together. Which i brought to his attention. My husband made additional adjustments to it the next day, but it still had a slight wobble sound coming from the furnace. Nick from Service Legends followed up with us a short time later in which we expressed our concerns with him. Nick came to our house along with Kevin in which they informed us that we had too large of a motor in our furnace, and that maybe the cause of the motors going out every two years. The prior companies failure to install the proper motor for our furnace may have been the cause for the difference in the cost of the motor and installation. Service Legends also noticed our piping for our tankless water heater was not grounded which is a safety issue. They offered to take care of that free of charge. They also cleaned up the mold from the ac draining into the floor drain and replaced the clip for the water line that the other tech broke. Nick assured us that he wanted us to be happy with their customer service. A new motor was installed by Kevin as he was able to diagnose the issue and appeared very knowledgeable. The new motor came with a two year warranty on parts and installation. The other companies only gave us a one year warranty on the motor only. Possibly another reason they were slightly more expensive than what we were used to paying. Nick and Kevin were very prompt and professional during the process. They also stand behind their service. Based on their integrity to stand behind their product and customer service, I would highly recommend Service Legends for your repairs and we will also be using them for future services.

I was very pleased with the service from Service Legends. I called for a cleaning and overall check of my furnace.

Everything was very professional and workers wore protectors over shoes and cleaned up well. Service was excellent. The only thing I did not do was compare price with another company.

My air conditioner went out on july 18 in the week it was over 100 degrees. Service legends came out to look at my unit and discovered my 18 year air conditioner was dead. They tried to repair but was unable to fix it. They priced out a new unit on friday the 20th. We then tried to find a date to get installed. They got a cancellation on that Monday. Due to the heat, they put us up in a hotel for the weekend at their expense. Monday they arrived and had our new system installed by the early evening. They were very professional and cleaned up after themselves. Would use again.

The guys from Service Legends came out and declared that we would need a brand new AC unit. This after last year where we were hit with a high pressure sales pitch on our furnace which they replaced for us. Well we dropped them and their service plan, and came to find out that we didn't need a new AC unit. In fact, the company we did get to fix our unit only had to replace a faulty relay switch. I wrote in a past review of Service Legends that I had the feeling I was being "vaugley ripped off", now I know it for a fact.

This experience was horrible. The serviceman was clearly out to make money since it was such a mild winter and most HVAC companies weren't doing as much business. I ended up calling a competor to come out and diagnose for issues and they assured me there weren't any. Service Legends will not get another dime out of me, my friends or family.

The installation techinicians were very professional and answered every question my husband asked, they took care of securing the permit from the city, they worked was completed in a timely manner, about 7 hours, and the entire area around the installation site was cleaned too! They removed all of the old HVAC parts, showed us how to operate the new thermostat, how the heat pump would work and what to expect! The system works just awesome, and our utilitiy bills for winter went down about 20%. MidAmerican Energy also gives an electric discount for the heat pump usage which is nice. The ducts were cleaned the following week and that tech did a great job as well. I thought these guys were very professional, clean and seemed to care. I also like the fact that the company does a background check on all employees. I would definitely recommend Service Legends to anyone, and would use them again myself. The 'B' in price is simply because it was very expensive!

I would use their services again in the future.

The sales pitch promised the world. The AC unit install went okay. However every thing that was promised was a lie they never followed through with anything.

"Fixed" the problem very very temporarily. The guy we had in from another company found that our a/c fan was wired backwards. Intentional? We don't know, but it sure made it fail sooner than it would have normally. He was going to charge us nearly $800 just to find a leak. When we asked a second company for their cost for the same service, it was $250. Most of the things he tried to sell us on turned out to not be necessary. I am SO glad we didn't have them do any more work then we did! And I believe we were overcharged for what we did hire them for.

They were very prompt and they provided us with heaters because it was January in Iowa. That was on a Friday. On Monday they showed up with a furnace and an air conditioner. They were very prompt at taking care of things. The men that came were friendly and professional. They were clean and they made sure they didn’t leave any debris behind. They even took away an old dehumidifier that was sitting in the corner that I couldn’t get out. They were very helpful. When they were done they showed me how everything worked on it. I had a special electrostatic filter and whole-home humidifier put on. They were just really good. They are higher priced than others but they are worth it. They don’t track things in and they had things done so quickly, I couldn’t believe it. They didn’t cause any disturbance to the house at all; I hardly knew they were here. They just came in and got it done. I am using their contract service and they are going to come out twice a year to check the furnace and air conditioner and take care of any minor issues; there are some other guarantees with that. It actually costs less than what I was paying for each individual unit. It really added up because I have two furnaces and two air conditioners.

I had them do the work as their quote was in line with the other but service legends was more thorough. They were able to do it when I wanted. The crew was nice, clean, polite. I left for the weekend and they closed up the house for me when they were done working. When I returned on Sunday the house felt warm. The temp was 79 degrees but it was supposed to reach 69 degrees. I called the company at 11;00 pm on Sunday . A technician came out and took a little freon off and the house was able to cool. A tech came out the next day and used a gauge to get the right freon. It was a bit of a pain but my house is now very cool and I'm very happy with my new system. I guess the freon was over charged which is fairly easy to do. As an update. The company put in a larger filter so air could flow better. However, this size filter is not carried in Des Moines (24" x 30") I drove out to Service Legends as I thought the contact there said they would have them but there was a mixup and no, they didn't have them. They ordered 12 months supply and i waited for the order. It took 2-3 weeks to come in which seemed odd but ok. Here's the interesting part. I called to check on the order and got voice mail. Because I rolled to voice mail, I got a $50 gift certificate which I applied to the order. That is amazing service! They delivered the filters to my house for a small fee of $10.

They were very thorough and honest. They came out right away.
