Service Legends Heating & Cooling

First of all, how do you check on the quality of their, or any other contractor's, work for this service? I didn't look at the inside of the ducts and can't tell about this. What I can tell you is that when they cut a hole in the brand new duct work to gain access for the cleaning, they cut the control line between the thermostate and the furnace for the de-humidifier. They didn't tell me that they did this so I didn't find out about it until 6 months later when it wasn't working and I called my regular service company and they found it. ||To be fair, I haven't contacted Service Legends yet to determine if they want to make up for this shoddy service. ||Now, I want to put in a great word for the contractor who found the problem: Golden Rule. They didn't charge me a dime for repairing this because I am under their annual maintenance agreement (all of $99.00).

We are extremely pleased with the work done by Service Legends. They were very punctual from the original call all the way through to completing the job. The duct cleaning only took about two hours. The technicians were friendly, described what they would be doing and were very meticulous. We immediately noticed the absence of odors coming from the heating system and frankly were amazed with the results. Even my wife who wasn't totally on board with needing the service commented on what a difference it made to our air quality. We also decided to install an electrostatic air filter. It was a little on the pricey side ($1300) but with two cats and a dog and allergies in the family we thought it would pay dividends for years to come. The installers literally had to build an air chamber and modify the air flow in order to install the new electrostatic air filter. It?s a little early to measure the impact of the investment but we are encouraged by the skillful way the installers modified our system to allow for the new filter. We simply could not be more pleased with our Service Legends experience! Thanks Angie's List for introducing us to this company.

Quite simply THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS. No joke. I am very hard to please and these guys do everything right. End of story

They performed duct cleaning for our entire heating system, and installed a new electrostatic air filter. Workers arrived on time, communicated well, and were very careful of our house. Left everything in good condition. Very polite young men.

The receptionist was very nice and professional. The Senior Service Tech came on time. The Tech was knowledgeable, and explained what needed to be done and how long it would take. He scheduled for next day installation. They came when they said they would, and finished on time and cleaned up after themselves.I got three estimates. They came in about $80 higher, but i would rather pay a little more to get it done fast and done right. They have 24 hour service. I was very impressed. I will use them again and recommend them to my friends. it is nice to have someone answer the phone, say they will be there at a certain time, and then show up and do what they said they would do. They provided great service - . I give them an A+

They spent too much time on the maintenance warranty! They didn't give us enough info on the different types of furnaces and AC's.

Not impressed. I have called and only been able to leave a message. They scheduled a service window that they didn't keep. They called 45 mins after the window to say someone is available. It was too little too late. The lady on the phone was kind enough but kept saying they only had to call during the two hour window and then would come after. That is ridiculous if you ask me...they expect me to stay home waiting for two hours and then they could be even later. We will not use them or even call them again. Scheduling and phone answering needs to improve.

We've used Service Legends for the past 4 years now and have no plans to switch. They recently installed an new a/c unit, duct work and cleaned the ducts. They are very professional, courteous and CLEAN.

Things went well until the technician informed us of additional services our furnace would need: 1) Replacement of Humidifier Pad : $77.00 2) Replacement of Combustion blower motor: $778.00 After checking the interent, a humidifier pad costs approximately $6.00. Seems like an awful steep markup to $77.00 to replace the pad. Another heating and cooling service we used in the past, quoted us a price of $552.50 + tax to replace the motor and $25.00 to replace the pad. Well under Service Legends pricing. Needless to say, please get comparative prices prior to commintting any work done.

Kevin mentioned their service membership program which saves you 20% on all future repairs and some other perks. Pays for itself after a year. I did not sign up yet but plan to when Kevin returns to replace a couple of parts.

The consultation started at 6 o' clock and they didn't leave till 8:30. I thought they were very thorough but I wasn't expecting sales presentation. So it wasn't necessarily a great experience. They kind of tried to pressure you to finalize something right away. It's like an efficiency discount. It was like an insurance claim so I didn't really have a budget for it. They just kind of kept pushing to get me to commit to that service. The gentleman came in and just started off saying he wasn't a sales person and that he was actually a tech but he was a really good sales person for being a tech. He didn't really quote me anything. He just basically wanted me to commit to signing up for a new heating and cooling system. In fact he said that he can't even quote an exact amount because they haven't done like an estimate analysis. So they tried to get you to commit to their estimation ahead of time and then say if you commit to it right away while they are in the house the first time then they will actually give you a $1000 discount and I just told him that I couldn't commit to it because I ran into my A/C unit with a car and so I didn't have my estimate back for the insurance company and he just wouldn't take that for an answer. The consultation was free. It seemed like they were great. They were thorough and polite. I guess their prices could have been a little bit more than it should have been.

Great guy. I think the products offered were very good. The quote given was just way too steep for what we needed.

Good quality and responsiveness, but high pressure sales approach for extra work. Some scare tactics to encourage unit replacement rather than repair.

I dealt with Service Legends today which is one of the hottest days of the year. My very elderly AC unit died a slow and very painful death. Because both my furnace and AC are so old, it is impossible to get parts for repair. I decided to purchase a new furnace and a new AC unit. Jake was very helpful when I called in to report my problem. He sent a repair technician to my home immediately. Adam arrived promptly and took charge. When I made the decision to purchase new units, Adam helped me figure out what I need and how to stay within my budget. They both truly are home comfort heroes! I highly recommend Service Legends to everyone. I will definitely do business with them for all of my future heating a cooling needs.

I had a friend check out my system and we discovered that the coil had a bunch of ice forming around it. My friend said one likely reason was the system was low on Freon. I called Service Legends and set up an appointment for Saturday between 10-2. I received a call about 1:00 on Saturday that a rep would be arriving within 30 minutes. Josh showed up 31 minutes later and we got to work. He first showed me his pricing plan what it would cost for repairs depending on the level of work and parts necessary to get the system running. I had a coupon from Angie's list which saved me $45 right off the bat, because just to do a diagnostic on the system cost $99.00. I took Josh to the system and he got to work. About 45 minutes later, he came to me and explained what he found inside. He made a few recommendations and then mentioned that he thought the most likely cause was low Freon. For. There he went outside to inspect the outside unit and reported shortly after that the major problem was low Freon. He set to work refilling the Freon and replace a capacitor that was also deteriorating. I wasn't totally confident it needed to be replaced, but Josh had been a pretty straight shooter so far, so I agreed to change it out. All said and done, Josh spent about 2 hours there, got the system up,and running and the wife and son are happy. I would use Service Legends again. They were very professional and got the job done at a reasonable rate.

Everything was done on time, in the time box stated, professional, and clean. Prior A/C company just couldn't seem to do any of these things rights, and has bad marks on AL to prove it. I'm very pleased with the new system and feel very comfortable with the service received now, and the service promised going forward.

Punctual. Professional. Perhaps a bit higher in price than other companies, but likely worth the extra cost. Would recommend this company to others.

Hans came out on Fathers Day to fix our air conditioner. He checked the system from the outside unit to the inside. He was professional and thorough. We have used Service Legends many times in the past and will continue to use them in the future. We highly recommend them!!

I would like to tell you how happy I am with Service Legends in Des Moines Iowa. I am a Very picky person about service, professionalism and timeliness. Last fall I was in need of a new furnace I called for several estimates and then did a little research about each company. Owning a home is the largest single investment many of us will make, it is only natural that we want the best product, service and price we can find. So when my air conditioner was not cooling properly my first call was to Service Legends. When I purchased my furnace I also purchased a Gold Club Membership. This membership provides yearly inspections, waives the diagnostic fee for any service call, and much more. Service Legends not only guarantees that it is fixed right or its free, but you save even more with a club membership. The technicians of Service Legends are the best trained, professional, and friendly of any Contractor I have ever worked with for Heating and Cooling. They check every component and then explain in plain English what they found to be wrong. I could not be more pleased with the service and professionalism of Service Legends. I would recommend them highly!!!

On 6/11/13, I called the on-call service and asked to be put on their list for the next day to have a tech come out and look at my A/C after I noticed that my house was not cooling and the fan on the outside unit was not moving. I was not in a hurry to get it done so the amount of time that it took for them to get here was not an issue. They had a tech her by noon which is what they had estimated for me at the time I called. Because of the option that I chose to have it fixed, they had to wait for the part to be delivered. While the tech was waiting he went ahead and cleaned my A/C unit so that I did not have to wait until next week when I had originally had it scheduled for. The tech was very considerate, knowledgeable and helpful. Being a single woman, I am always afraid of being charged for more than what needs to be done. He was very honest and I feel that he gave me adequate information that helped me choose the best option for me. They were also very helpful and were able to give me payment options that worked with my budget.

After another company had been to my home 3 times in 3 days due to Home Warranty company preferred provider...I was extremely frustrated to waking up freezing, taking more time off of work, and handing over another $50 bucks for deductibles (have to pay for every "NEW" service call. I at this point could not take it and I called Service Legends although I knew I would have to pay full price because they were not on list of providers for my home warranty, they not only fixed my furnace the 1st time, while they were there they cleaned up after the previous companies mess. I chose to sign up at that time for their maintenance program, and have not had a problem since. My Initial Service was sometime ago but I am new to Angie's list, Service Legends deserves review.
