 + -1 moreHe arrived exactly when they said he would and completed the work in less than an hour. Their bill was about half of what I expected. The next day the drain on the tub developed a slow leak and they came back out as soon as I called. They replaced a couple of parts in the drain and they wouldn't take any additional payment. He was extremely professional and after he was done you couldn't tell he had been here.
Description of Work: Repair the drain on the bathtub and re-seat the stool.

The owner came the next day and figured out a way to do the job without cutting any holes. Both men then returned the third day and worked together to complete the job without putting any holes in the ceiling. We were very pleased that the job did not require getting someone to come repair drywall in addition to getting a gas connection.
Description of Work: We moved to a home with an electric stove and we needed a gas connection installed for a gas stove.

They went right to work, reported their findings to us (blocked filters) and then worked rigorously to fix the problem (installed new faucet). The installation was difficult because we have the newer, larger sink; despite the tight space, he got the faucet installed just right.
Description of Work: We were having trouble with water pressure, especially with the kitchen faucet. Over a course of about 10 days, DDS made two service calls to our house but charged us for one. On the first visit the plumber determined that the low pressure was caused by blockage of filters in the faucet, so he cleaned them. The faucet shower head appeared worn out, so we purchased a new faucet, and DDS came out again to install it. In addition, the plumber took a look at our water softener and iron / rust remover. He will report back to us when he finishes researching the availability of certain parts.

 + 0 moreI spoke with the receptionist (?) and she set up an appointment with the plumber. However she didn't tell me when he would be coming by to view the job. The plumber came by the next day, but because the receptionist didn't tell me he was coming, I wasn't home. The plumber finally contacted me and asked why I wasn't home. I told him I didn't know he was coming. He was very nice, and apologized for the mixup. I thanked him for calling, but by then I had already contracted with another company. I paid the other company about $1200.00 so that was a costly mistake. Atleast I felt it was a good chunk of money that went down his drain. I would consider calling him again if I am in need a plumber. I wasn't angry, we just didn't connect.

 + -1 moreWhen Don arrived at our home, and assessed the job, no measurements were taken, and nothing was written down. He recommended that we replace the galvanized pipe before hooking up the rural water line. He stated that he could just "eyeball" our site and he would have an estimate to us "in a couple of days". While I was not surprised when after 10 days we still had no quote, I called to find out where the quote was. I left a message for Don, which he returned promptly, and he apologized for not getting the quote in the mail. He said he would do so the next day. That was a week ago and we still have no quote. In the interim, we did call another plumber from the list. He came out, took measurements and had a quote to us within 2 working days.

 + 0 moreThe crew came exactly at 8:30 as promised and worked quickly to finish the jog by 11am. They put down protective coverings on the floors and stairs before they started bring equipment in. They did a very nice job cleaning up the work area and removed the old heater. Once the new heater was in they explained all the controls and made sure there where no leaks in the system. During the removal of the old heater, they scratched the wood floor in the hallway, DDS had a floor repair person on site within a half an hour and the repair work is being done and DDS has taken care of the costs. Don and his crew nice folk who do great work, they should be your first choice for plumbing work.
Description of Work: DDS bought and replaced a 75 gallon gas hot water heater and remove the old heater.

 + -1 moreWe knew what we wanted done and what type of material we wanted him to use. The only problem arose when the Sodering didnt hold and water started leaking. He came right back and fixed the problem with a shark byte, an Expensive part which he was hoping to avoid. He did not charge us for the second trip or the additional part. We Have had no problems since. Would definitely recommend this company.

I have also recommended them to my friends and neighbors.What I especially appreciated was that he listened to me, and when I told him that this was a recurring problem, he thought more about it and found the root cause instead of just treating the symptom. The problem wasn't the toilet or the seal, it was that the pipes had only been roughed in and had never actually been glued together. We had been a disaster waiting to happen for many years, and we were lucky that it was only a small leak rather than a huge gush of dirty water coming through the ceiling. I took my time repairing the ceiling just to make sure that the pipes were correct. I also wanted to make sure there were no other leaks. I am relieved to report that he has fixed it the way it should have been, and I can relax. It is such a relief to know that this fix was a permanent solution instead of a temporary repair. I'm sorry that it took three plumbers for me to find the solution and this company, but I'm glad that I read Angie's List and called DDS. They are great!
Description of Work: Two days before Christmas (Friday morning), the ceiling below my bathroom leaked. Again. I thought that the toilet wasn't sealed properly or that something had caused its seal to break. We have had problems with this over the years, and had two or three different plumbers out to repair it. Each time they would remove the toilet from the floor, replace the seal, and put it back. I wasn't sure what was going on since the last time this happened was only a couple of years ago. My regular plumber was busy, so I looked at Angie's List and saw that DDS was highly rated. Since Christmas was coming and I knew things would be hectic, I wanted to get it done ASAP, and I was afraid that something would happen at a time I'd have to spend for overtime. I called DDS and the gal said that they could come out yet that afternoon since a job was finishing sooner than the plumber thought it would. Sure enough, about 3:30 I got a call that he was on his way. When he arrived he looked things over and said that it appeared that the problem wasn't in the seal. He thought it might be in the pipe leading from the toilet to the stack. To make a long story short, since I was tired of having this as a recurring problem, I told him that if he needed to put a hole in the ceiling below to take a better look he could (I do my own drywall repair and have replaced a ceiling in my house, so I know what is involved). The result was that he found that the people who had remodeled my bathroom 18 years ago had only roughed in the PVC pipe leading to the stack. They had never bothered to actually cement the pipe together. They had also put the wrong joint on where it was going into the stack. So he replaced the pipe, and re-seated the toilet. He had to make one trip to get supplies, but even then he was quick and efficient. All told the whole plumbing job took four hours, from 4pm to 8pm. He worked hard, was very considerate and clean as he worked, and showed and explained to us what he was doing and why. He didn't charge overtime or the extra trip charge. At the end, when he wrote the bill he also honored the Angie's List coupon I had printed out. What was funny was that I had added it back in since we were so pleased with his job. He hadn't looked carefully at the amount when he pocketed the check, and no sooner had we said good bye and closed the door when he rang the door bell and said that we'd paid him too much. I told him "Merry Christmas, and Thank you. You earned it." His gratitude was touching. His price was so reasonable I felt good about giving him a tip. By the way, I told him that I would repair the hole in the ceiling since I was planning on doing some other drywall work in my house. I also wanted to do it myself. So the cost of the repair or the description doesn't include the ceiling repair where he had to go in to get access to the pipes leading to the stack.

Description of Work: I had a Reverse Osmosis system that I wanted to have installed under my kitchen sink, so I called and spoke with Don. He was very helpful and gave me a quote. Based on the great reviews on Angie's List I scheduled an appt. He told me that his son may be the one coming to do the installation and indeed his son showed up when he said he would. He did a great job and the RO system works great without any issues. It actually took a little longer to install than he thought it would but he stuck with the price he had quoted me. I would definitely use them again.

 + 1 moreVERY disappointed in this business! After reading Angie's List reviews I decided to call them for an appointment to quote my house remodel which extensively involves plumbing. Called the office number and the woman made an appointment for June 11, 2012 at 6 p.m. I was told the owner is the one who comes out to do the quotes. I got to the house at 5:30 and at 7:30 I gave up and left. I would have called them but I left their number at work. They had my cell, so not sure why they didn't give me a call to cancel. Very inconsiderate and a complete waste of my time.
Description of Work: Rework plumbing in one bathroom. New full bathroom installation in master bedroom. New full bathroom installation in basement. Move laundry room.

 + -1 moreWe had been putting off fixing a leak in one bathroom because none of our friends could recommend a good plumber, but after recently joining Angie's List we figured it was time. The tub didn't drain properly in the cold months, and there was a water stain on the ceiling of the kitchen below and on the siding outside and beneath the bathroom. Don found the source of the leak and tore out the offending p-trap, which was installed in an unheated overhang, replacing it but more importantly moving it slightly so it could benefit from warm air rising from the kitchen in the winter months. He says this should prevent the trap from freezing and keep the drain clearing properly. He was very persistent in figuring out the problem and then attacked it and wrapped things up in a very efficient manner. I would definitely hire him again next time I need a plumber.

Description of Work: Replaced guts of a nearly new Kohler fancy toilet.....wish we hadn't bought that! Also replaced washers in two outside faucets, feed lines to kitchen sink, and replaced kitchen sink head. Next time we remodel, we are going to make sure we choose plumbing and light fixtures that use STANDARD parts!.....our mistake, but DDS Plumbing has been great....did what they said they would in a professional manner.
