There were reasonable estimates, provided in a timely manner, and am happy with both results. Service date is an estimated date as the review does not allow for just a year date.
Description of Work: Petersen Plumbing was part of a kitchen remodel in 2008. They were very professional and assisted in adding hookups for a dishwasher and all other plumbing choices for the remodel. This was all provided timely and in conjunction with the total remodel. Because of the excellent experience it helped to make the decision to use them again in adding a sink and stool to my basement. It was helpful to have the same person (Brock) come throughout the various stages of extending the water lines in the basement. I am very satisfied with the results from both remodels.

My water heater was old, but still functioning. I called for a recommendation. A date for replacement was scheduled at my convenience. The service worker was on time, called in advance and did the work professionally and cleaned up afterward. He answered all my questions. I was given a rebate form for a small rebate from MidAmerican that he completed related to the information about the water heater. I was completely satisfied.

On a Saturday afternoon (about 3pm) My water heater went into "Lockout". I logged into Angieslist and looked for the highest rated company with the most reviews. Petersens came up at the very top. Gave them a call, described the issue to the receptionist and she said they'd call me back. Got a call back within 5 minutes. Started telling the tech what my issue was and he gave me his best guess as to what it was right away. Then he immediately told me the situation with the weekend would affect the price and availability. He was very up front and gave me all the options. I asked him to come check out the issue as soon as possible. He was here in 20 minutes. Very professional, very quick diagnosis. Showed me what was wrong and how to replace the part in the future if I needed to. He cleaned the sensing element that was causing the problem and repositioned it so it wouldn't repeat. The water heater fired up and is working great again. I would absolutely recommend this company to anyone and will definitely use them again. Excellent experience.

We had just purchaed the house and found that the sewer line was the orangeberg pipe. Petyerson came in and ran a camera line into the pipe. We found that the pipe was rotted out. They helped us get into the city grant program to help defray the cost. We had to put up $500.00 dollars with the grant covering the balance. Petersons completed the job even in the nasty weather and the workers were great. They explained every aspect of the job and made sure we were only inconvenienced for a short time. I would not hesitate to recommend them. They are A++ in my book.

Jack arrived promptly at 8:30. I explained that I also had a problem drain in the bathroom and asked if he could look at that along with our laundry room, and he immediately agreed. He started off in the bathroom, where he was able to get the drain completely fixed. I was thrilled, since we have had problems with the sink since we moved in, and when I had called TMI two years ago, they charged me $360 and told me there was nothing he could do, and that I would need to replace piping for the whole house, ripping up floors, etc. for $5000!! So, I was already in a great mood when Jack got to the laundry room. He ran some water, cleared out the pipe under the drain, and then he brought in the huge snake to get the main line cleared. I have to admit I had no idea where to find the main line open, and he patiently helped me to find it, back behind some things we had stored. The main line had a lot of roots, but he got it cleared out, and answered any questions that I had, offering several helpful suggestions as well. We discussed the pipe program for the city, and he suggested that I have them run the camera in the next few months to check my piping (since I don't know which I have out to the city line). If it is one piping, they tend to collapse over time, and so I would want the coverage from the city. However, if it is not, $100 is worth it, rather than paying year after year for service that would be unneeded if I have a certain type of pipe. We will definately be doing that. Jack finished, and cleaned everything up. He was careful not to leave a mess anywhere, and I did buy an enzyme cleaner he recommended to use once a month. Even with that, I couldn't believe when he said $134!! WOW- I paid TMI almost triple that to do nothing two years ago, and from friends I know Roto-Rooter would have been about the same as TMI. In short, I will definately use Peterson Plumbing and Heating, and I am happy to recommend them to any of my friends. I chose them based on other Angie's List reviews, and they really are that great!!

The gentleman I spoke with was very kind, though surprised as he has yet to be asked about installing a drinking fountain in a private home. We discussed the options and possible price. The price was much more than we were hoping. He suggested we discuss it before he did further research and to get back to him if we decided to move forward. I was very impressed with the prompt attention and thoughtful answer. We will definitely be calling Petersen should we need some plumbing work in the future.

.Arrived on time, even a little early, and the same day I called. Found problem and cleaned out drain. Recommended I use a couple of ounces of their drain cleaner to prevent future problems. The price I spent included the drain cleaner. The drain cleaner is environmentally friendly, no poisons Said it would last a few years. Since I have problems with my drains every year, I'm hopping this drain cleaner will prevent future clogs and save me money and problems. down the road.

The plumber showed up when scheduled. Evaluated the situation and was able to move the gas line for the stove so that stove could be pushed back flush with the wall. The original gas line protruded about 4" into the room, which in turn caused the stove to stick out into the room.

This was an excellent experience. Cost effective and timely with a great personality to boot. We would have called Roto-Rooter and paid over 200.00 for the quasi-identical services. We are ecstatic with Angie'sList and the help it gave us during our search for assisstance.
Description of Work: Do call if you have a drain that needs cleaning. Do ask if they go through the toilet, which he did. He even cleaned out the actual drain after clearing the clog which was made up of "flushable" towels. He was on time and sized up the problem immediately. This was just before a blizzard hit the area. He was very careful to not to drag in lots of snow. We offered him a tip but refused it. He informed us of other services Petersen Plumbing does in our area which includes appliances such as dishwashers which we will take advantage of in the spring.

I was charged after job was done for work that was told to me to be free. I had work performed to replace cast piping and replace with copper. I paid 1200 for this service. There was a 8 foot section of pipe that was copper already that ran to the outside faucet. Was told by Curtis I did not need to replace it and they would tap into it instead. After work was done they told me they tested all the faucets and everything was good. I got home and tested the outside faucet and it sounded horrible was making a ton of noise. I called Peterson and was told it was probably air in my line and should give it some time. I waited a week the line was still loud. I called the plumber back and was told they were going to send someone out to my house to check the problem. A few days later when the plumber arrived he said the issue may or may not be the faucet. I felt that the issue was existing from the job they preformed and was not discovered because they did not test the outside line before leaving the house. Said I did not think I should be charged to fix the faucet was told by the plumber that he could not ok that but would call his boss. He called his boss and got an ok by Craig to do the work for free. The replacement of the faucet fixed the issue completely. I thought everything was ok till about a month later I receive a bill in the mail for 185.00 from Peterson. I called them to fix the accidental billing of the service and was told by the part owner that the bill was correct and would not be adjusted. I told him I never ok'ed the charge and was told it was free. He said his workers messed up and it should never of been free and that if I don't pay it he would take me to collections. I felt intimidated and threatened over the way they issued this bill. They never called to discuss anything with me just issued a bill to something they knew was supposed to be free. This practice is predatory and probably illegal. I Finally got to talk to the owner of the company and was told this is petty and basically a waste of his time even talking about this. His office made a mistake but it should of never been free. He never stood up to his workers actions but instead held me accountable for their mistake. He said he has over 50 employees he cant control everything they do. He finally agreed to take 75.00 instead of the 180+ they originally demanded. I agreed only to pay 75.00 under duress because I did not want to be taken to collections. When I get the adjusted bill in the address line It says my name and after it ( no work per curtis ) So in the end I pay for a service and have an issue am told they will fix the issue at no cost. When they decide to later change their mind and charge me I then become the criminal and am blacklisted. I chose them because I thought they had a good reputation but this service leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

I truly jfeel the original charges for the customer were fair and justified. I believe he is trying to get additional work completed for free. His time line of events is off quite a bit. Here is the accurate documented time line. I met with the customer on June 6th at 9:00 am to look at proposed work. I mailed a proposal to Chris on June 13th. The customer called me to schedule the #1 option on July 20th. We agreed to do the work on August 6th. Work was completed on August 6th. Chris called on October 9th and stated that the pipes were making a loud vibrating noise when the outside sillcock was turned on. Technician was sent out on October 12th to diagnose problem. When the technician arrived, customer led him to believe that this was part of our original contract but it clearly wasn't. When a supervisor was notified, he made the decision to replace the unit based on the customer telling him this was part of the original job. At no time did customer ask for me even though I was the one who had worked with him through the entire process. I think customerknows that if he talked to me, I would have known this wasn't a problem with the work we were contracted to complete and it wouldn't be free. This problem occurred 8 weeks after the original work was completed, and had absolutely nothing to do with our workmanship. I believe that the entire bill should have been paid. We agreed to accept $75.00 from customer to put this behind us. We feel this was more than fair on our part. Curtis R Hagen Vice President/Service Manager

Unfortunately, our home sewer line backed up into our house through our downstairs shower. I called Petersen Plumbing and got their answering service since it was a Saturday. It was only about 15 minutes before the repairman called me back to find out what I needed help with. He kept me informed about how long it would be until he could get to our house. It took about 2 1/2 hours since he was the only one doing repairs for the day. Once he arrived, he was very professional and friendly. He removed the toilet in our basement bathroom and used a tool to clean out our sewer line all the way to the street. It only took him about an hour and he cleaned up very well. He laid out cloth over our carpeting when he brought his tools in to help minimize any mess. He gave us a full report of everything he did and gave us some tips on helping to minimize the possibility of this happening to us again. Since it was a Saturday, the rate for the job was a little bit higher but to fix my sewer on the day of the back-up, $145 doesn't seem bad at all! I was very pleased with the result and would definitely recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: The sewer line from our house needed to be cleaned out as it had backed up into our house. To access the sewer line, the repairman had to remove our toilet to clean out the sewer pipe. Everything was fixed!

When I called the company I provided enough information that they knew the magnitude of the job and the type of heater required and were able to quote a price for the job. The appointment was for the next morning. The service person was there at that time. I had provided a clean and open work area. The new heater had been installed and was functioning within approximately one hour. Within an hour and a half he had removed the old heater and his tools, finished all paperwork, and was gone. Everything was polite and professional.

After reading the reviews on Angie's List I contacted Peterson Plumbing. I believe it was on a Friday. They were not able to send anyone until the following Monday. The plumber arrived right on time on Monday Morning. He quickly identified the problem. He fixed the sink by supplying a fitting that was left off from the previous job. Then he suggested that we contact the previous contractor and see if they would correct what they had done wrong. They did fix it at no cost.I wish I would have consulted Angie's List at the beginning. I certainly will in the future.

He was promt and did a professional job in a reasonable time. I was happy with the work, but I have side-by-side sinks and I had a leak in only one of the sinks. The tech took care of the one sink, but when he was repairing the line, he should have advised me that BOTH the lines should have been replaced. This was something I had to take upon myself to do and figure out after the fact. I tried calling them and they were not at all reasonable and did not seem to listen to me. I do not have problem with the work I paid for, but as a professional he should have made suggestions and should have been more informative.

They did a good job. I don't have any dislikes. They were good on the estimates - the estimates were fair and they didn't charge us more than what they said. And we had them actually purchased the faucet for us and that was a fair price. They did a good job in the basement too. So they were in and out pretty quickly, they were pretty helpful and I am happy with them. We had a problem in our shower and he gave me some suggestions of what to do on our own before we replace it. The floor is cracked and he told me what to buy. So he was pretty helpful. They were never late. I was usually able to schedule within a few days.
