I called yesterday and was able to set an appointment for the next morning. The plumber arrived promptly, assessed the problem, quoted the price and had the materials on the truck and fixed the toilet. It is working great, and if something goes wrong, TMI will stand behind the work. Very nice, concientious technician.

Dan from TMI arrived early to perform the furnace inspection we purchased as a special on Angie's List. He did such a thorough job and even assisted us with an Ultra V lightbulb problem that had us stumped and was not fun for him, either. Dan is a man of few words, but as a result of our experience, we want only him to perform on furnace work in the future. I will look to TMI for other services, also.

**Update 10/19/15: TMI did call me to chat about the issues I experienced. Apparently the costs were correct (although I still think they are too high). The customer service rep did say that they should not have quoted anything for me over the phone. I appreciated the response, and concern, but I would still hesitate to recommend them, as I think the prices are too high, and I do not like the model of not having an estimate until you have already paid the service visit fees. I will go with plumbers who charge an hourly rate in the future. ***** *Original Review: My experience was similar to the review from August 2014. We were having new flooring installed in our bathroom and needed the toilet pulled and then later reinstalled on a higher surface. After getting phone estimates in the $200 range (including the site visit fees) from a number of plumbers, I decided to go with TMI because they seemed to have a better sense of the specific cost based on the service. Once the plumber was on site, it became clear that we needed to switch out the shutoff valve at the toilet, as 40+ years of Rock Island hard water had done a number on it. At this point, I felt as if there was a bit of bait-and-switch going on. Quickly flashing some tables at me from a booklet, the plumber then quoted me $410, instead of the $200 range. These tables did not outline why the cost would be more than twice the price for a smidgen more work, but I felt that at this point it would have been a waste of money and time to pay this plumber for the estimate alone, and start anew with another service. We determined that the toilet also suffered from similar issues (hard water), and he recommended replacing it. I did sidestep his hard sell to purchase a toilet through them. Instead, he spent a total of 20 minutes turning off the main water supply, replacing the valve at the toilet and removing the toilet. In the interim (as other contractors were replacing my floors), I reached out to TMI to see if there would be additional charges for installation if I purchased a new toilet on my own. Thankfully, they said no, so I went ahead an purchased one to be installed once the floors were finished. When the plumber returned to install the new toilet, he tried to charge me an additional ~$120 to raise the toilet level. Upon inquiring about my receipt (which I did not receive originally) for my earlier payment, we learned that I had already paid for this service. Long story, short: the work was done well, but my major issue is in their billing structure. There was a definite lack of clarity in the process of going about an estimate, and the price charged for a minor addition doubled my original estimate. This seems like a classic bait-and-switch to me. This, coupled with the attempt to extract an additional charge out of me discourages me from ever using their services again.

Everything went well. I was a little disappointed that Ceiling Fans are covered under the TIM Home Warranty .... BUT ... there it goes the BUT .... not if it is the light unit within the ceiling fan.

First, I want to say that TMI seems to have grown professionally since I last dealt with them in 2012. I'm just getting started using Angie's List and so posted a review from my past work which wasn't favorable to them for the bad service I received at the time. However, after speaking to them they did a great job of making it right by even reimbursing me (3 years later!) for the overcharges, sent me an apology letter, and apologized profusely over the phone. While I previously would have never done business with them again, I think we'll give them another try in the future in our next bids for work on our rental properties. Thank you TMI for being professional, following up on even an old issue, and for making it right. It means a lot to the wife and I. For those curious, my previous review is below. ORIGINAL REVIEW FROM 2012 SERVICE WORK: My bathtub had a leak where the faucet is and so I removed it. However, there was some kind of nut inside the wall that I couldn't get off easily and so I thought I should call a plumber to do it so that I don't brake it. | |The plumber came in, didn't smile or put booties on, looked at it... took out a pretty large pipe, twisted it off, and replaced the new faucet with one I already bought. | |Took him literally 15 minutes or less. Know how much he charged me for such a simple job? $300. It went very well, got the job done in a very fast fashion, but new products cost a little bit more from them. I would highly recommend them.

I called multiple plumbers in the area to ask for a quote on swapping out the main water shut off valve. No one would commit and give a price without charging a service call fee and TMI was no exception. However, TMI was 20bucks cheaper than everyone else for this fee so I decided to set up an appointment. The repairman was prompt and friendly when he arrived. He stopped the slow leak which was the reason for the call, but told me I probably would have to replace it in the future. I told him to replace it since he had the tool to shut the water off at the street. He wrote up the estimate and I was floored to see the 315 dollar estimate. There was no separate line items for parts and labor. Just one estimate. If I told him to leave it would just cost me his service call fee for tightening a nut, and I would have to pay for a different company to come out and fix it. It would cost me 200 dollars just for two different plumbers to "look" at my main water shut off. I decided just bite the bullet and have TMI replace it. It took a total of 15 min of work for him to complete. He used his tool to shut off the water at the street, then unscrew the compression nut on the old valve to take it off and then did the reverse order to install the new valve. What TMI will not tell you is that the "service fee" is not included into their estimates. Mine was fortunately waived. (Probably because it was easy money for the work done.) I felt that TMI "baited" me into using them vs other plumbers because they were "cheaper" on service calls. Even though the serviceman was friendly and professional, I felt they are over priced for the work done. If there is another plumbing project in the future, I will use someone else. UPDATE: I received a call from TMI about the review above. They said the technician made a mistake in charging too much and would refund a portion of the money back. They held up on their end by sending a check and I upgraded their review score accordingly.

No problems, very professional

It was basically we have a 99-year-old drain that goes in the ground, God knows where it goes. Things are a little different 99 years ago. So, we don't know if the track in that drain is closed up or if it is clogged up. It would be next to impossible that it fits again till so they were recommending some diversions and we decided we will get a rain barrel to put at the bottom of the down style and then just have that original drain capped off and closed. They gave me an estimate for one of the diversions that I chose not to do and their estimate was $2,259 so I still have to call them back and give an estimate on the cut and cap of the drain. My impression is that that should be hopefully less than $100 or less than $200.

TMI replaced the drain pipes under two of my sinks. The previous construction was done with inferior products and had corroded through twice before. The materials that TMI used were thicker and used screw connection rather than soldered connections. The work was done well, as was the clean-up afterward. My only problem with the experience is that the cost was shockingly high for that amount of work.

The repair on my water heater was completed to satisfaction on the second call. There was confusion on the charges for the first and second call however the owner and president of the company discussed with me and agreed with me on what the charges should have been. He even went one step further reducing the cost of the service call to only what was charged for the initial assessment. I can say with complete confidence that the owner of the company is very fair and wants complete satisfaction with his customers. Anyone considering using TMI for Plumbing/Heating/Air work can feel confident that they will be treated fairly and if there is confusion or questions, the owner of the company will discuss any concerns you have.

I had contracted with another service company to fix the water filter in my Viking refrigerator. I believe they diagnosed the problem correctly, but did not order the part or return my calls. I called TMI, and had great service from the scheduler, to the initial visit, to the installation of the part. It is hard to find someone in this area to fix a Viking appliance so am extremely pleased to have found a place that is so knowledgable and completes a job in a timely fashion. I would recommend this company and will use them again.

They arrived on time, wore shoe covers, checked the furnace function, moisture drains, and carbon monoxide checks inside and out. The service man did not try to do any extras that were not needed for additional money. He was concerned with giving me the service I needed and no more. Great interaction !

I waited for TMI from 12pm until after 6 pm. I finally talked to the plumber after 6 pm after calling TMI and asking why I had not heard from the plumber.. He said they had been calling me all day and I did not answer my phone. He said he was not coming and now the charge would be an additional $109.00. He said he was too busy and was not coming. I told him that I was waiting for them to come and the water was off and this was Friday night.They had my home phone and cell phone number. They told me they would be there between 2 and 4 pm. There was nothing about calling first, but it was OK to call first. He made it clear that he could care less about me and my problem. I asked to talk to a manager and I was told that he was the only person I could talk to. I sent an email to TMI on Friday night and I told them about my problem. I did not receive a response. I finally called and talked to TMI this morning 9/23/13. They did get my email but know one called me back. I was told that they called my cell phone and did not get an answer. They knew this morning that they had the wrong cell phone number. The correct number is 236- but they were calling 235. Not sure how they knew the correct number today and not Friday. I also do not understand why they did not call my home phone number or contact me once they knew I had a problem. She did offer an apology for the problem and that the rate he was going to charge me was correct, even though, they were supposed to be there during normal business hours, This is what bothered me. She never offered to get someone out today to repair the water line or even to ask if I still needed help. She was just like her plumber, She just did not care. I advised her to cancel my maintenance contract I have with them and that I was know longer going to do business with TMI. I contacted another plumbing company Sunday night and they were at the rental property and fixed the problem at 8:30 this morning 9/23/13.

TMI arrived on the 19 Aug 2013 to break into the street to tap the city water line. They then bored 110 ft. to apt to hook up. The company was very good about only busting the concrete it had to. Trenched under the apt to bring the water up from under neath. Very professional tapped the main, hole covered and trench refilled by the second day.Street repaired back to the way it was in four days. Tapped into alley way into sewer main on 21 Aug 2013. Line ran and rough in completed on the 22 August 2013. Alley way reopened that day.

My old furnace stopped late one evening. I called TMI the next morning and had a repairman there within 2 hours. Upon determining that repairing my extremely old furnace was not a good idea, the repairman contacted another employee to discuss the purchase of a new furnace. This man was at my home within an hour. The installation could not be done for a couple of days, but I was provided with enough potable heaters to keep me very comfortable. A very good experience.

All was fine. My husband said they were very costly for the services. The rest done was very good...just the price being high. It was a call out service.

Outside faucet was leaking around the handle. Called TMI and suggested replacing the entire faucet since I had already cut into the wall at an earlier time. We had a different outside faucet replace earlier and the plumber put in a modern half-turn faucet, and installed a screw-in fitting so it could be replaced if necessary later. TMI installed an old-fashioned multi-turn faucet and soldered it in so it could not easily be replaced. The handle still leaks a little. I do not remember the exact cost, but the flat fee seemed high. I will use someone different next time. UPDATE: TMI called and said that they would fix anything that needed fixing. They also explained that the sweated connection is much sturdier and lasts longer than the screw connection, and that the half-turn faucets are very expensive and do not last as long. I double-checked the faucet, and if it is leaking at all, it is minor and they will be happy too return and replace it if it does leak. I appreciate their concern, and have upgraded the rating to a B.

We called and left a message and they quickly responded to schedule when they could come. Identified the problem, ordered the part and replaced. Very friendly, clean, and respectful of our home.

It went well. Nice guy. Knew what he was doing.

Their professionalism and friendly interaction with our staff is top notch. I would not hesitate to give TMI a very high recommendation.
