John worked us in and I had a newly functioning kitchen drawer. Great job!

John was fantastic, friendly, and prompt. He was quick to answer the initial phone call and gave me a rough estimate after I described my issue. Since it was a minor emergency, as I need a new washer ASAP, he was able to swing by the very next morning and remove the door molding/frame for us. It was an odd job needed in order to fit a washer through the doorway. He patched all the holes left from the nails and after I paint it, it will look like nothing was ever there. He thought it would be a 3 hour job but he got it done in 2 and charged accordingly. He worked efficiently and I'll definitely be calling him back when I'm ready to get a few other jobs done.

I signed up for Angie's List, did my research, and hired him because he had the most reviews, and the majority were excellent reviews, and he lived near my dad's condo. He went out of his way to order carpet for me, prior to my arrival. He also knows the reason why I paid him for 5 days. (He worked for me from Oct 18-22) Plus he states: "Satisfaction Guaranteed or I Will Make It Right". This situation was truly a "Series of Unfortunate Events". I was in Hawaii twice (Oct 16-27) and my husband and I were there from Nov 12-18 to scatter my dad’s ashes and to plan and hold his memorial. I was dealing with an overwhelming amount of things during this remodel, and my dad passed away 3 days after I left Hawaii in Oct. I am extremely grateful for my friends who came and helped me with this remodel in Oct and Nov (to fix the paint problems). While they were helpful to me, it was probably not the best situation for John to deal with. I am grateful that John responded to my remodel request, and he was always very prompt. Things were off to a good start. But in the end my friends, my husband, and another handyman and I ended up having to redo/fix a few things (plus redo things the plumber did also) and repaint. Home Depot gave me the wrong color EGGSHELL paint, which caused additional problems. NOTE: The original paint color was close to the other 2 paint colors. John did fix the paint problems that we saw before he left. On Nov. 12th, we removed the drapes (they were always open while working) since we were installing new vertical blinds, and as the light flooded the studio, we immediately saw the REST of the paint problems. The LR and bathroom were fine. I noticed the (4) doors (bottom of the door not painted) and the door peeling problem. On the last day we left for 2 hours, and we left a to-do list for John to fix it/things to do, and fixing the doors wasn’t done. I didn’t put 2 and 2 together, and realized the LR doors were painted in the WRONG COLOR EGGSHELL, and it really should have been done in SEMI-GLOSS in the first place. Home Depot did refund my money for all of the paint, and John did offer to not be paid to repaint the walls, but I declined and paid him anyway. (In Oct) After I arrived back in San Diego on Nov. 18th, I emailed John to explain what we did, and to work towards a resolution for this 2nd set of paint problems. We were emailing back and forth (prior to Nov. 12th) about resolving the 1st set of problems. He did arrange for the carpet installer to fix the problem he was responsible for. He told me he was very busy. This 2nd time, I did not hear back from him. Nov. 12-18th This is list of the paint problems that we fixed: 1) Kitchen cabinet shelves – (2) shelves, were not painted all the way to the edge of the shelf. **We took off the shelf liner paper, finished painting the shelves, and put back the shelf liner paper.** 2) Living Room Cabinet Doors – (4 doors total) painted wrong color EGGSHELL (wrong paint- should be SEMI-GLOSS) a) the bottom of the doors were not finished, I think all 4 doors were rolled while it was shut, so when I opened the doors, the paint started to separate and peel apart.) b) inside the cabinet (Not sure who painted it? I know my friend did some, but not sure if John finished it? It had a couple of spots with semi-gloss paint that was used as touch up paint instead of the eggshell that the inside of the closet was originally painted in. **The carpet was taped to prevent paint from getting on the new carpet, the doors were removed, paint was removed, doors were primed and repainted, inside of the closet was repainted, doors put in place** (On the last day, I asked John to fix the peeling paint job and to finish painting the bottom of the doors, it was not done) 3) Trim around the Living Room Closet Door- painted wrong color EGGSHELL (wrong paint- should be SEMI-GLOSS) **We taped off the floor and repainted the trim** 4) Kitchen Entry Wall – the wall was rolled BUT the top and the bottom was not cut in, and BOTH sides were not finished either. It was also painted with the wrong color. So that whole wall was redone.**We taped the ceiling, cut in the top, bottom and sides, and then rolled the wall** 5) Kitchen Pantry Door (1) –The door was rolled and not painted all the way to the bottom. The top was okay. **Door was removed and repainted** 6) Wall above the pantry- Wall was rolled, but the top of the wall was not finished. **We repainted the wall** 7) Left side of the pantry wall was not painted (It was a small silver of wall) **We repainted the wall** 8) Hall wall #1 –Wall has 3 colors: Bathroom door- right color, right paint BUT door not finished at the bottom. Left of the door is painted in the wrong color. Above the door is painted with the wrong color eggshell, and the top, bottom and sides were not done. **We repainted the wall** 9) Hall Wall #2 The wall is streaked, and it was painted with the wrong color, and the top, bottom and sides were not done. **We repainted the wall** 10) Hall Wall #3– The top, bottom and sides were not done. **We repainted the wall** 11) Hall Closet wall– side walls wrong color. **We repainted the wall** 12) Bathroom Door – it was not painted at the bottom, it had some bumps (bubbling) scattered throughout the middle of the door, the paint job was not smooth like the other cabinet doors. (On the last day, I asked John to finish painting the bottom of the door, but, it was not done) **We removed the door, removed the paint, sanded down the bumps, primed and painted the door** (It looked like a spray of wax, it was grayish in color??? ) Don’t know what that was..) Door looks great now! It’s smooth and no bumps/bubbles. I emailed John about this concern earlier, and he replied and said he sanded it and put 3 coats of paint on the door.

He did a great job very efficient, accommodating, easy going, can do attitude and if was out of his capability he made some very good recommendations. Over all thank you for turning us on the Mr. Fix-it. He will be doing more work for us in the near future.

John is very punctual and polite. Very talkative. Initial he told me he was the best ____ on the island. I cannot remember if he said plumber or handyman. He was very confident which is why I chose to have him work on my condo. He arrived on time. Began work after touring the condo. He was in process of changing the sink faucet, after a half hour taking the piping underneath the sink down he realized that the shut off valve needing to be changed and therefore placed everything back under the sink. Next we took another half hour to change a P-trap under the bathroom sink because the new one kept leaking. Then he attempted to change the toilet seats. I had bought universal toilet seats from home depot which he was unable to fit on the toilet. The innards of the toilet John was able to change, but when he left I realized that it was too high and I could not place the toilet cover back on the top. He caulked the overflow drain for the tub, but did not caulk the entire circle and it looked messy. Overall John is a person with communication skills and professionalism. Quality remains to be desired. I paid him $150 for 3 hours. The final project was a toilet with no seat. The innards of the toilet being too high. A sink faucet that was not changed. An overflow drain that was not caulked 360 degrees which would have led to leaking to my floor under the tub. When he left I placed the seat on the toilet. That was probably my most frustrating part of this experience. It's a Universal Seat. It should fit most if not all toilets. There were no other options available at Home Depot which is why I tried to see if it would fit. I hope he takes this as constructive criticism and spends more time paying attention to detail instead of talking. I was also not happy with the caulking job on the tub overflow drain, for if I had not known better and left it, then I may have had to deal with a flood later. He was good at follow up to see how everything was after he left. After I told him the above he offered to refund some of the money, which was nice of him. I did not follow through to collect the money as I preferred not to see him again. I would not recommend him for any plumbing jobs. I cannot comment on his other trades, but definitely NO plumbing. Addendum: In response to the responded answer from the contractor. If the above is a lie I will retract it. Truth is that it is not. The above really did occur. The condo was left with a toilet without a seat (which I was able to place, it was a UNIVERSAL toilet seat and now has not given me any problems). A toilet tank that could not be covered because the water level indicator was too high and I needed to adjust it myself. The caulking on the overflow drain was not caulked 360 degrees (only 2/3rds). I was dissatisfied with the job and that is my personal opinion (I do have high standards). It is true that I did not call back for the refund. I preferred to end the relationship with this contractor and thought it appropriate to post this as the next consumer should be aware. I would not have gone through John if I had read a post such as this one.

Excellent service! He called to let me know approximately what time he would be here; showed up on time, and did great work. Super friendly guy.

John is a very detail-oriented and talented man. We feel fortunate to have found him, and we're very grateful for his quality work.

Because we live on the Windward side of the island, John did not do the work for us but was kind enough to recommend someone who could. We contacted Jake who promptly arranged an appointment to do an estimate. He started work only a few days after we accepted his estimate. Our deck was in VERY bad shape and much of the wood rot could not be seen until the existing decking boards were removed. Most of the beams and some of the fascia was eaten up with rot. Jake repaired or replaced it all. He used materials that were superior to what had been used in the deck previously. He kept us constantly informed of his progress and any problems. He was prompt, courteous, reliable, trustworthy, hard working, and extremely meticulous in his work. We are very happy with the results and we really appreciate John's recommendation.

The work involved multiple skills-- plastering, spatter-coating, painting, carpentry. John Graeber was prompt, careful and meticulous.

Our is an old house (74 years). The kitch had formica counters that had been cleaned so many times, the design was scrubbed off. The craftsman (Dustin) was excellent and meticulous in his approach. He quoted me on the project scope (not by hours) and I agreed to it. He took much longer to do the work than I expected... showing an artisan care in the quality of his work; and yet the price did not change. The "squareness" of this old house had shifted over time, so many pieces of tile had to be trimmed for fit. I am amazed at the quality of the resulting job. I would definitely use this vendor and this craftsman again. But don't be in a hurry if you have a project, because great quality in tile setting takes time.

Came punctually. A As this was an old clost installation he explained what he might have to do to fix it. Heexplained his proceedures and thinking as he went about repairing the door. Charged fairly.

He did a good job. It came out clean. It looked a lot better than if I would have to try to do it myself. He has a quirky personality but he got the job done on the budget and on time. He was a little bit more expensive than other quotes but he was more accommodating with his time.

John did a great job installing the units using the existing sleeves. I,unfortunately, had purchased one at the incorrect voltage so I needed to return it. He only charged me for 2 hours work although he had been here longer than that since the job was incomplete (through no fault of his).

I had an emergency job and I called John of Mr. Fixit on a Sunday because another handyman had disappeared on me the day before. John was unable to come himself but sent his Windward associate, Jake, who arrived promptly at 8:30 on Monday morning. He was happy to let me work with him, running to the hardware store and painting the new lumber for him to install. It was not an easy job. It took careful thought and planning. Jake was fast, competent, professional, very pleasant and personable, and he did an excellent job at a more than fair price. I could not be more thrilled with his work! Mr. Fixit Handyman Services is the one for me!

He gave me a referral to a licensed plumber whom I called. I called the company he suggested and they came. Thank you!

I am impressed with John's highly professional and responsible attitude towards his job. His prices are fair, and his advises about flooring and plumbing were quite valuable for me. He does minor things very well. He fixed my windows, installed new entrance door locks, and a new garbage disposal for my sink. For major projects, he referred me to businesses which did good job for very reasonable money. John does everything swiftly, punctually, very responsibly, for a modest price. His advises both about materials and services save his client's money. At least, so that was in my case. An apartment which was absolutely impossible to move in is now ready. All together (complete re-flooring, plumbing, bunch of minor problems) it took a week of time and around $2300 of money. I will definitely hire John again.

John came over to check it out for us right after we closed on the house. He replaced the valves under our sinks (we had been warned by the home inspector to replace them soon). He did a great job, and he also referred us to a great roofer (our other urgent need). Once we settled in, I am sure we will have a lot more projects for John to work on, and we will gladly rehire him.

Showed up on time and recommended several courses of action to us and the cost associated. Completed the project on the same day. Great job.

although john was busy with multiple jobs, he followed thorough in a very caring manner to make sure I had the job done well by another man who was available

I said it all, didn't I! A no go start to finish! Bad news. I am a journalist. I keep records. I could say a lot more. I don't think a handyman who has no electrician's license should be allowed to list himself under electrical services. This is VERY BAD. I got more about another company you listed and I called. A company that actually asked me NOT to say certain things on your site. When I wrote and said, explain this, I never got an answer. Scared the guy I think. When I get some free time, you'll hear about that company too. I stand by everything I say here. Is this enough?

John arrived on time and got a lot done in a short period of time. Efficient, good work.

Mr. Fixit was able to fix the cabinet and replace the bathroom vent, although it is extremely loud and I was surprised of its cost to replace it. The other items were not repaired.

As stated John was very prompt and conscientious. He kept me up to date on the work, especially if he was going to be delayed on another job. The work on the door jam was good and although he did not personally do the work on the vinyl fence and gate, I am very pleased with the quality and look of the vinyl. John took my concerns into account, gave me options, provided a written quote, and followed up in case I had concerns with the quote. Overall, the work was completed within scope, time and budget.
