I found Mr Altman to be professional and competent. He has been responsive throughout and was on time!! He took the time to do the job correctly; I was impressed that he took pride in his craft and did not short cut. I was happy he repaired my doors the right way!! He is personable and polite!! This is my first time hiring from Angie’s List and I’m extremely satisfied with the meticulous work, professionalism, and the ability to improvise and execute! We realistically know our limitations and installing a screen door perfectly and working.....not in our wheel house. James communicated quickly, arrived on time, and was very respectful to our home ( picking up wrappings, not throwing tools on the wood floors, taking time to reassure our pets of his friendliness....little things that make a difference). His work was thorough and complete! DEFINITELY HIRE JAMES ALTMAN because we will for anything else we need!!!

James is very thorough and professional--he also arrived on time. After repairs were done he checked all of them twice before he left, to ensure everything is working as they should. He pays close attention to details. Due to my experience, I highly recommend him, without hesitation.

He was attentive to detail. I had him move something and he went back and spackled and painted and did everything to the old holes so that nothing was visible and it was fantastic. My husband is very particular about those things. He didn't just cover it up, he did it right. He is better than the builders.

Price is A+. He has very high quality and very attentive to detail. I would have expected a few more things done in the time that he had but he took his time and that was okay. He made sure everything was done and cleaned up properly. That part of it was way more than I expected. I was okay with maybe the number of tasks not being quite as many as I expected. I'd much rather have the quality than quantity. He was here from 10 to 6 perhaps. He just gets right to it and takes care of business. I work from home and he doesn't really interrupt me or bother me or anything like that. I gave him a list and he went at it.

Did a great job and did not try to overprice - he was very fair for the work that he did. I am going to have him work on another project for me and would highly recommend him to anyone who needed simple and 'tougher' work done.

Not good. Was very unprofessional. Called mom and I vulgar names because he did not like the job.

Mr. Altman is one of the most prepared and professional people ever to work on my home. His initial response to my inquiry was prompt and courteous. He arrivec a few days later and did all the work efficiently and effectively, including picking up needed hatdware at Home Depot. All went very smoothly and it's likely we'll ask James to return for additional work. He charged only $65/hr and can do almost anything. Extremely pleased!

Never got to meet him. Trying to give him the benefit of the doubt but he never called me back after he said he would check his calendar. I tried again a few days later and had to leave a message. It's been a week and he never called. I hope you have better luck if you try him. I wouldn't try again.

Outstanding.....James replied to my e-mail with a call within 24 hours, we discussed the project, his hourly and we set a day to begin. James was on time and did a great job on the chimney....I have already recommended James to a number of our home owners in our sub-division....

We never received a call back! Called and left a message about 10 a.m., it is now 7:15 p.m., too bad Mr. Altman, you could have had many jobs from this. No way to run a business!

Mr. Altman was extremely helpful. After talking with him my son and I decided not to install a dog door because we did not know we were unable to install it where we wanted. He quickly fixed the gate and installed the blinds and weatherstripping. He is a very nice man and very knowledgeable. I will call him again when I have other things I need to repair or replace. I will definitely recommend him to others.

He was very polite, knowledgeable and thorough.

He was excellent. He arrived on time and his work was good and even found other projects to do that we hadn't thought of.

James arrived on time and was professional. He is very good carpenter and explained the work needed. He completed all jobs well and cleaned up the work site. James completed the work in 2.5 days. He has considerable knowledge and his costs are reasonable.

Do have you list ready to go so James can get right to work. Do be sure to be there in case James has questions.

Mr. Altman did a great job of replacing the old toilets in our house He also fixed some minor plumbing and electrical problems--all at a fraction of the cost for a plumber and electrician. He was HONEST in his insights, explained things well and meticulously, and fixed things simply and cheaply rather than turning them into big-ticket projects. I will definitely call him again next time I need a handyman.
