Simply Special Cleaning Services

We were supposed to meet one evening to discuss the cost to clean the house and they did not show. I waited and hour. I left a message for them and they called me back the next day. We were supposed to meet that day to determine price and they were half hour late. I really needed to get this done so i used them anyway. The price quoted was way overpriced but like i said, I was in a time crunch. They cleaned the house and forgot to do many items like actually clean the hardwood floors. There were weeks old drip stains on the floor that i got up with a fingernail that they overlooked. That is why i don't believe they even cleaned the floor. They were supposed to clean the screened porch and did not. They were supposed to get the paint drops off of a floor but did not...the list goes on. They did come back to finish the job and correct the issues. I will not recommend them or use them again.

They did an excellent job of cleaning. The only issue we had was they were an hour or two late coming, I believe due to one of their cleaners not coming to work.. I understand that happens, but they did not call to let us know what was going on. It was not until I called them to find out where they were that I found out what was happening. If not for them being late and not contacting us to let us know why, I would have given them an A.

First of all, it was hard to contact this company. I e-mailed via Angie's List, called and left messages, and finally got a response after sending a text message to the owner's (personal?) phone. Note: The company normally does NOT schedule cleanings on the weekends, which is odd, but they managed to have one employee that didn't mind weekend jobs, so they were able to accommodate my Saturday request. So, they got a C for responsiveness, but it could have well been a D, too. I'm guessing they normally send a "crew" to clean, but since it was Saturday, and only one employee volunteered, she was sent alone. She did call before coming, and arrived at 8:30 AM as scheduled, so they got an A for punctuality. I walked her through the house, and explained to her which rooms did not need cleaning, and told her that vacuuming was not needed, as the carpets had recently been cleaned by another Angie's List contractor (see my review). I basically needed her to concentrate on all of the master bedroom and bathroom, and the other 1.5 bathrooms. I requested special attention to all baseboards, and reachable windows, as I normally don't do those when I vacuum/clean. She did a really good job with the bathrooms, and the baseboards were okay. I'm not sure all the windows were thoroughly cleaned, as there was still dust on the middle of the sills (top portion of the lower window). It was shortly after noon, and I ordered pizza and asked if she wanted to take a break, but she declined and continued to work. Since it was almost 1 PM, I think she was just ready to get out of here. The empty fridge was decently cleaned, but could have been better. I was going to ask that she did the oven and mopped the kitchen, but as stated, it seemed like she was ready to leave, so I didn't bother. To summarize, $149 is a great price for a "deep cleaning", if that is what you actually get. The owner needs to work on quality and responsiveness. Punctuality was great, and professionalism was good. The owner asked if this was a one time cleaning, or if I wanted to schedule regular cleanings. After this one time experience, I am going to say that I will not be scheduling regular cleanings... at least not with this one.

Two hardworking cleaners gave it their best shot. As with any relationship that is just starting it took a follow-up conversation to get to the point where what I expected and what they delivered aligned. The few small things I pointed out were addressed and even more effort was put into the intial cleaning which I thought was already high quality. The owner, Connie, is one of the most professional businesspersons I have run across on Angie's List.

It went great and pretty good. I only had one problem with it, but the customer service handled it perfectly and they stayed in communication. It was a very good service and they also made very good recommendations for other services that we needed. There were no other out of pocket expenses.

Great job...worked within our schedule, got right to work and everything looks great.

Connie and her team did a wonderful job on our house. They performed a very thorough deep clean and honored their commitment on cleaning our size house with the Buy Now discount. They worked on the house until completion and we couldn't have asked for a better deep clean and professional staff. Thanks again Connie and I highly recommend your company.

The service was okay. The two people that came were extremely nice and helpful. The problem we had was they were supposed to show up by noon and they did not show up until 7 PM. The office had over booked them. They did work extra hours at no charge to make up for the time loss.

I left a message for an appointment and they returned my call the next day. They stated that I was too far away for the coupon and refused to honor it.

My experience with them was fine. They did a good job. They were very friendly.

Spoke with Donna to set up the appointment. Very nice, polite and prompt. I was able to get someone to come out and do a "move out" clean on Saturday morning. Donna called me back to let me know who was coming and what time she would be at our house. Cathy called me when she was on her way to let me know. She arrived promptly at 8 am and we were given time frame of 8-8:30 so that worked out great. Cathy did an AWESOME job. My house was so messy and then when you move out you really find the dust balls!! I appreciate her hard work. She arrived, we did a quick review of what I wanted her to focus on and then she got started right away. The only thing is that I wish there had of been two people. I only got her for four hours and did some of the work myself. But, like I said, my house was very messy and needed a lot of work. I would definitely use them again! Cathy worked the whole four hours without stopping and worked right up until the last minute. I really appreciate these ladies...thanks again!!

Connie came out for a walk through and we discussed my expectations and her procedures. These very much matched what I was looking for.....so we agreed on a trial date. Amy and Bradley showed up on time and we again discussed and made clear my expectations and the work proceeded. Amy showed me a procedure to help keep clean between visits. The communication between the workers and management seemed to be good as Amy asked about the issues that Connie and I had addressed in our meeting. My biggest concern was that because I still maintain my home in between visits that corners may be cut ......but not the case here. Very professional and capable staff......they will be my choice for monthly cleaning......thank you Connie, Amy and Bradley see you soon again.

To prepare for relatives coming in for the holidays I had Simply Superb Cleaning do a detailed cleaning of my house. They did a fantastic job. They came by a couple of weeks before the cleaning and gave me an estimate free of charge. The cleaning was superb, I will use them again, and I highly recommend them.

***UPDATE BENEATH CONCLUSIVE REVIEW*** Conclusive Review - Good for a "wipe down" but not a deep clean. I also called and left two voicemails requesting a call back prior to posting this review to discuss my low level of satisfaction and did not receive a call back. I recommend that if you use them - check the work before paying and you may want to ask for Connie - the owner to do the clean. I found this company on Angie List and was impressed by the reviews. Connie (owner) was extremely responsive and prompt on coming out to give me an estimate. I scheduled to have the cleaning done one week later and was told that they would arrive from 11am-12am since I would be the second cleaning of the day. Connie recommended that I leave certain drawers open so staff wouldn't think they were decorative and not clean them (the ones under the sink where sponges go). Connie said the fridge would look like new after cleaning along with the inside of the oven and so on. Connie said the work would take 6-8 man hours, two individuals were assigned, and they were done in 6 man hours. On the day of the cleaning I got a call at 9am stating that the crew was there...and they would wait until 10:30. I called and let them know I was on my way but was told that they wouldn't be there until 11. That was fine they waited....Luckily my husband had gotten there early because we had painted so he was there early to remove the tarp we had laid down on the carpet. The crew got started upstairs while we pulled the tarp up. We left them to clean and just asked for a call 30 minutes prior to them finishing so I could come back to inspect and pay them. Three hours later the two crew members were done and they had given me the courtesy call as I requested. I inspected the oven and the door looked the same as it did when I had the estimate done. Just the inside base of the oven had been wiped down. The two drawers that I had specifically left open (sponge drawers) had been closed and not cleaned. The master shower still had soap scum on one side and the refrigerator had been wiped down inside...but drawers were not taken out and shelves were not taken out which led to stains still on them. The top freezer shelf also had not been cleaned. I told one of the crew members about all of this and he said the fridge was as clean as it could be, the soap scum was calcium build and the oven was as clean as it would get. I told him to clean out the drawers that I had specifically left open and they closed without touching. The freezer shelf he wiped down and said he had missed that. I went back to the house the next day with my own cleaning supplies and cleaned the oven door with a Brillo/SOS pad - it came clean. I took the fridge apart and got all the food stains off the shelves. The bathrooms looked good to me, but after having to re-do the fridge and oven, I still re-cleaned my bathrooms. I called Connie and left two voicemails, one at the office and the other on her cell phone to let her know my experience and so she can train her staff. I do not want a follow up clean. I did the work myself because I did not feel comfortable having them into my house again. I tipped them because they did wait for me to arrive since they arrived early, but my appointment time was 11 so I should not have done that. For a completely empty home that I had not moved into, I expected more, I should have taken the other mediocre review more seriously - lesson learned. UPDATE: 1/19/13 - Connie contacted me and offered to come clean the home herself, she apologized profusely about the service that I received. I explained that I did not want to use a cleaning service again after the bad experience, so to make it better, Connie wrote me a refund check for $140, I received the check today. I do feel much better about this situation now, Connie did what was right and refunded $140 of the $210 that I paid. I think this was just a case of a particular employee not doing their job correctly.

They are very pleasant and took their time cleaning. Polite and professional. I guess I am just comparing to my previous cleaners who in addition to cleaning actually fluffed pillows and straightened them in chairs, on the couch, etc. Also the previous cleaners put little stray items in one place in each room (if needed) rather than leaving them exactly where they found them (when they are clearly out of place). I am assuming the cleaner picks up the item, cleans under it and puts it right back down out of place. I clean pretty thoroughly before the cleaners come so that they will clean and not have to tidy up. But there are a few exceptions where there may be three or four small things out of place. Anyway - also, the first crew that came (today was my third cleaning) I asked them to please be sure to thoroughly clean the floor under the ledges of my counters in the kitchen, and under the edges of the kitchen island. They cleaned today, and I still needed to run a wet paper towel under around the floor under the ledges. I was not home when they cleaned. I am fairly fanatic about cleanliness and tidiness and just notice all the little things. Overall they do a very nice job.

We were truly impressed with Simply Special Cleaning Services. They are affordable , punctual and professional. They did an excellent job with our home.We are looking forward to continue using their services.

Our house was dusty and smudge-covered, and since we are both very busy with work and family we decided to hire someone to come help us out. I saw Simply Special had excellent reviews on this site, so I called and left a message on Wednesday, September 26. Connie, the owner, returned my call promptly and I was able to speak with her at length the next day. We've never had anyone clean our house before, and I was somewhat nervous about the experience, but she was very professional and explained her process clearly and outlined her company's safeguards in terms of insurance, bonding, background checks and so on. She came to our home in Kirkwood on Monday, October 1, and provided a detailed estimate to my husband. He got a good vibe from her, and the very next day her Purple Team came out to our house and performed the deep clean. WOW! Our home looks phenomenal. It's hard for me to believe that two people could accomplish that much in just 3 hours. The floors are literally squeaky clean. Our oven is sparkling. Over the past 2 days, I keep noticing things gleaming that I hadn't even realized would be including in the cleaning-- the faucets in the tub, door knobs, electrical plates, back shelves that were dusted and wiped clean. The deep clean did exactly what it was supposed to-- it brought our home up to a baseline of clean, tidy freshness that would have taken me days to accomplish with worse results. I would hire this company again in a heartbeat. We're looking at our budget to determine how often we can hire them to come back! I am very territorial and I dislike the ides of people in my "stuff", but Simply Special was respectful and I don't feel in any way like my things were disturbed, just that they were cleaned and freshened. It was a great experience, and absolutely, without question, a steal at the price.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a cleaning service and had several in home estimates from different companies. We chose Simply Special because the price was more than fair and Connie Georges won us over with her friendliness, responsiveness and professionalism. She gave us a packet outlining everything her business offers. Also, we just liked her personality. She encouraged us to use the Angie's List $95 for 4 hours coupon (which is a STEAL) to pay for our first cleaning and scheduled it for the very next day. We negotiated and extra $25 for cleaning my embarrassingly disgusting refrigerator. I got a call in the morning from Jenna, the lead cleaner letting us know when she would be over and another when they were all done. That's a nice touch. I just got home and the house is cleaner than it HAS EVER BEEN BEFORE. I must have spent 15 minutes wandering around saying, "Oooh! So clean!!" We are thrilled and plan on hiring Simply Special to clean every two weeks. I would recommend this company to anyone. Thank you, Connie and Jenna!

We found Simply Cleaning through Angie's List and could not be happier. Connie herself came to our home to provide an analysis and estimate of what weekly cleaning services would be. She was extremely friendly, informative and professional. We love the concept of "color cleaning"- the staff uses different colored cloths for different types of cleaning. This really cuts down on the possibility of cross-contamination. The company uses eco-friendly products, which is important to us! At this point, they have cleaned for 3 weeks and we couldn't be happier. They always make sure to get ALL the dust from windowsills and blinds, all the dirt from cracks and crevices and things just sparkle. Connie is always available if we ever need her, and willing to do special projects we may have. She is very up-front about services and pricing, which is a huge plus. Additionally, the "Cleaning for a Reason" program the company has is wonderful. From the website: "Fighting cancer is difficult enough, but living with it is even tougher - and that's where the Cleaning for A Reason Foundation steps in. This nonprofit offers free professional housecleaning, and maid services to improve the lives of women undergoing treatment for cancer - any type of cancer." We fully support any company that is willing to do good works in the community!

The same two ladies have cleaned my house for a couple of months and the quality of work has improved as they become familiar with my house and needs. The are very compatible and I am comfortable with them. The Account Manager emails the day before they come. The company is located nearby and I like that. The owner is nice and very responsible. They use only "green" cleaning products and are pet friendly.
