It went great. I had a quote a year before but didn't get work done. He asked for the quote when called him again but I said don't worry about it. The price was close to the quote he gave previously. He went above and beyond. He came back and bleached the stones without being asked. They look brand new.
Description of Work: They repaired our stack stone front steps.

Got to work on time, cleaned the area, had a professional crew. This is the type company you think of when you hear professional mason. Great work, fair price and precise on his brick work.
Description of Work: A new construction home, Pete used vintage brick for the water table around the house, bricked a two story gable and did the mailbox. As a builder it can be hard to find solid contractors but Pete is the real deal. He and his crew did a great job and I would recommend him and will use him again.

Not only did Pete and his crew do a fantastic job on our walkway, porch, and steps, but they were very friendly, helpful, and professional. We had a party coming up at our home the next week and were in a rush to get the work done, and Pete and his team made it happen!! But, while they were working quickly to meet our timetable, they still took the time to be very careful with our surrounding landscaping. It would have been much easier for them to just cut back my flowers that were in their way, but, instead, they took the time and attention to devise a method to push the foliage of my plants back without damaging any of it. The result was that, when the walk was done, all my landscaping around it was still in place, and it looked perfect, as if it had been there just that way all along. They were a delight to work with in every way, and totally exceeded our expectations!!! I plan to use Pete again for some additional work around our house in the near future.
Description of Work: Our concrete front walk was sagging in some spots and buckling in others. In addition, our brick stoop and steps looked bad, with chipped mortar and some cracked and chipped bricks. Pete came up with a perfect solution to level the walk, which was challenging because of the slope of the surrounding yard and the landscaping, and installed a beautiful stone walkway to replace the old concrete one. He also refurbished our stoop and steps, using some extra bricks we had, and even matching the mortar perfectly. We love our new walkway and our refurbished entrance. We smile every time we see it!!!

We hired Peter Frazier based on his excellent Angie's list reviews. When he came to give us an estimate on our project he seemed reasonable. The project concerned our brick house: re-mortaring the loose bricks (particularly those below several windows), and pointing up many places between bricks where the mortar had fallen out. It was emphasized to him that we wanted the mortar to be as close in consistency and color to the existing mortar as possible. He arrived without the scaffolding that he needed to do the job (he said that he gets nervous when he is on a ladder), so he left to go off and rent scaffolding, a process taking several hours. When he started work, we had to watch Mr. Frazier and his helper carefully to keep him from mixing up and using mortar that did not match the color or the consistency of the existing mortar. He had to grind out some of the old mortar, but in doing so he cut out significant amounts of brick as well. Thus, when they re-mortared the joint, the mortar was much wider than the adjacent mortar joints. In cutting out some of the old mortar under the windows, he cut into the wooden window sills in several places, something we explicitly told him to be very careful not to do. Owing to this grinding process, extensive brick dust and old mortar pieces everywhere, which he did not did not clean up. Each day after he left we cleaned up the mess that he left. In any number of places they just slapped handfuls of mortar on, more like kindergarten children with play-dough than like professionals; we re-did many of those places ourselves and got much better results than they did. When the new mortar dried, the consistency was significantly different than the existing mortar--much smoother; probably he needed to use courser-grained sand. The color in many places was also quite far off. On the third day of the project, he showed up without the scaffolding; he said he didn't want to pay to rent it again. He then worked on a ladder and seemed very shaky up there and did even poorer work than he did the previous two days. Some of the excess mortar on the brick was removed by a wire brush; this also removed the brick glazing. To remove excess smeared mortar, muriatic acid was used. Mr. Frazier said that the acid wouldn't damage anything; he was wrong. The acid sprayed on a number of our copper downspouts and discolored them. That can probably be fixed, but it will take significant labor and expense. He did not re-mortar about half of the bricks under one of the windows, and they were still loose after he left. When the project was winding down, we just asked them to leave; we paid the agreed-upon price just to get rid of him. In summary, his price was reasonable, he showed up on time (but then left for equipment, doing other estimates and taking long lunches), but his work was entirely sub-par. We would never recommend him. We wouldn't even allow him back to fix some of the things he messed up--we feel he'd only make them worse.

The front stoop and step set at our new home has settled because it was poured concrete on top of fill dirt. The unit has broken away from the house so that the first step down from the entryway is about 2" taller than it should be. David came out and looked at the situation. He scratched his head for a minute because he said there was about 8 feet of fill under that stoop/step unit and it would just continue to settle if something was not done to prevent it. Then he proposed removing the existing unit, drilling into the foundation on two sides to use rebar to hold the unit in place and prevent settling and also digging a deep footing on the corner away from the foundation. All of this would cost me about $1000. I felt that was a very reasonable estimate and a sensible solution to the problem. I plan to follow through when this problem gets to the top of my list, which it is doing. David was excellent to deal with. I recommend him.

Description of Work: I have stone walkways, steps and a patio that had cracks in the concrete and also needed some stones to replace broken ones. I called Peter Frazier and he came out and walked all around the areas that needed to be worked on and we agreed on a price.. He came the following Monday with his helper Dennis and they worked Monday, Tuesday (David came Tuesday) and finished up on Wednesday. They did a GREAT job,and cleaned up each day before leaving. I cannot say enough good things about Peter Frazier , Dennis and David. I would recommend them anyday.

Description of Work: Peter reset our Flag Stone Patio, pouring a base of concrete and then relaying and mortaring the stones, looks great. This job went very well. He came out and did the estimate when he said he would. He showed up and did the work when he said he would. The repair went perfectly, and the new stones blend in with the stones that had been in place for 15 years. He and his helper, Dennis, are also very easy to work with.
Description of Work: Pete repaired the stone skirt that runs along the front of my house. Stones on both sides of the front porch were cracked and sagging, and the front border of the porch was cracked. He re-mortared and replaced stone where needed, and he chiseled out and the repaired the crack on the porch. He also patched mortar along the rest of the skirt as needed.

Pete was very knowledgeable about the brick work and explained the process very well. The entire crew were professional and courteous. They were always on-time and kept the place tidy and in the end cleaned it up so well, you cannot tell the place was worked on. I would highly recommend them for any brick masonry work.

Mr. Frazier was prompt and did a great job of the mortar repair on my house. The front porch is brick and the mortar was falling out, the area over the garage door was 'repaired' before we moved in by the original builder. The mortar never matched, even though it was done within 6 months of his building the house. Mr. Frazier was able to repair the porch and the wall over the garage door and matched the original mortar perfectly. The repair is almost invisible and would never be noticed if one did not know the crack had been there previously.
Description of Work: Front porch and above garage door were tuckpointed. The original builder was not able to 'match' the mortar color, but Mr. Frazier did a fantastic job, and even allowed for the 9 yr. weathering of the mortar! The tuckpointing was well done and I would definitely recommend him! In fact, I just did.

My front porch and steps needed repair, upkeep and possible removal of four short columns that held wrought iron rails. A brick was loose, the whole five steps were poorly attached and the bricks were dark and ugly. Pete Frazier convinced me to see how much they could be improved by repairing the steps, cementing the columns down, removing the putty put down by the prior owners, and bleaching the mildew and moss out of the brick work. I had never liked the columns before, but now the porch and steps look so very much better and the columns seem a plus in the appearance of the house. I really didn't expect to like the work so much, but now I'm proud of the whole appearance. It was a fast change and Pete did a great job.

Pete Frazier is the owner/operator of this company now. He and his crew always arrived on time, were very pleasant, and worked very hard. They were very knowledgeable and professional and his price quote was far below others we received. The final result is a very stable and attractive stone entry way to my home. Without reservation I would recommend him to anyone who needs this kind of work be done on their property. The guys even had the time and patience to talk to and interact with my 4 year old grandson who was enthralled to see "real" construction workers with jack hammers, etc.
Description of Work: He demolished stone and concrete steps which had settled and advised us that replacing the two steps with three would be better. The tasks including haul off of old materials, constructing new stone steps, and clean up of the site.

Description of Work: Replaced front stoop and walkway as the current one was sinking. Pete and his crew did a demo of the existing structure and replaced it with one that had rebar drilled into my foundation to prevent future sinking. Old steps and walkway were tile and he replaced them with brick and concrete.
