The reason we did not hire the contractor was because - sight unseen - he gave me a bottom line price for a deck repair which seemed extraordinarily high. I asked him why this was and he told me, somewhat rudely, that there was insurance, overhead, payment of his people... I know that there is "overhead" when runs a business. I ran on for 30 years, however, it seems to me that to provide an estimate for a job, the job has to be seen first. Maybe I'm wrong about this but that's just how I feel about it.

Frank and his whole team were absolutely fantastic. The whole team was very knowledgeable and skilled and so nice to deal with. Everyone was prompt, responsive and honest in every way. The den, deck and patio are all beautiful, done within budget, and exceed our expectations. Frank has great ideas and makes very helpful suggestions. His suggestions are designed to improve the project and do it efficiently and economically. He will not try to sell you something you don't need. I would definitely recommend Decks & More to everyone!

I called to get an estimate to have my front steps replaced. They are all wood approximately 11 steps. Req new stringers risers, treads, ballasters and handrail. The concrete landing already exists. After listening to his pitch I can only assume he must think he was talking with a ignorant female because he went on to give me a rediculous $4500-$5000 quote. I told him he must be out of his mind and cant imagine he ever could get a job with those kind of prices. He rambled on about how much his labor cost and workman's comp, insurance etc. I since called 2 other providers on Angies list who totally laughed at that quote. The other providers gave quotes $1300 +- $100. The total materials would only amount to $600-$700 so according to him $4000 in labor?? lol Be warned if you are a female calling this guy for a quote.

Frank is the most unprofessional person I have dealt with through Angie's List. Please at least consider giving you business to someone who respects other people more.

Of the three contractors who I contacted, Mr. Pologruto was the only one who, because of the roof line, was actually willing to build the porch. The price was outside my budget. Mr. Pologruto was very knowledgeable and professionable. If I had the money I would surely use his services.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Decks and More really did an amazing job on our porch and deck. We had a really bad, unsafe deck attached to our home that was 15 ft high off the ground that we needed to tear down for a variety of reasons (safety, water getting into basement, etc). We wanted to go ahead and go forward building our "dream porch/deck". We wanted a covered, screened-in porch with an additional sundeck. We did our research, called some companies and landed on two companies. The first company (which is a pretty highly-recommended company) came out, kinda sorta understood what we wanted but kept reminding us what the cost of the project would be and were trying to be "realistic" with us. We said, "we know, that's why we called you because we are ready to move forward with this". Well, that company totally bombed the opportunity for our business. We called Frank with Decks and More and he came out right away. Immediately we clicked with Frank. He knew exactly what we wanted and knew exactly what he was talking about. He sat down with us (that night) and worked up a rough draft proposal and we said "yes...that's exactly it". He got back to us a few days later with the formal proposal and we signed. The team started sooner than anticipated and worked every day (excluding holidays and bad rainy days) and finished in about 2 months (this was a big project). Everyone that came out to work was very professional, very considerate (we have a young baby at home that naps), and very polite. The whole project (from our perspective) went very smooth. Our porch and deck turned out to be so much more beautiful than we expected. They focused on lots of details like trim work (we had custom-made arches), painting/staining, board placement...it goes on and on. The most important part, however, was how solid and safe the structures were built. They added an extra custom-made support beam under the porch, they bolted both structures into the beams of our home, they added extra bolts and support features, and they dug extra deep footings with proper bolting. Since our deck sits 15 ft high, they really focused on building these structures safe (you would be surprised how many contractors don't really care about that). We would recommend Decks and More over and over again. We are planning on using them for future projects with our home since we were so impressed. Thanks Frank!

Frank Pologruto and his team at ?Decks and More? just completed a new deck with screen porch addition to our home in November that is outstanding. When we began getting estimates/quotes for our project, we were planning on just adding an enclosed screen porch with a shed roof to our existing 17x12 deck. But when reviewing our proposed project & getting estimates from Frank, he also made a couple of design suggestions: 1) going with a vaulted/gable style roof instead of the shed roof; and 2) Frank asked if we?d considered going out another 4 feet to make it a 17x16 porch vs a 17x12 porch. We are so glad Frank suggested both of these options (and he was only contractor to make any design suggestions when getting estimates). In the end, we decided to tear down our existing 17x12 deck that was over 11 years old and build a new 19x16 deck/screen porch addition with a high vaulted gable roof. Expanding from 17x12 to 19x16 feet made a big difference in the enclosed space and it was absolutely the way to go ? thanks Frank. The completed deck/screen porch is very well built (in addition to the lag bolts tying deck structure into our house, it was constructed with five 6x6 support posts vs just 2 support posts we had on the old deck), and we were very impressed with the attention to detail in the finishing of our new space. Cesar, the head carpenter on our project, is a very skilled master craftsman, and our project manager, Mike Cotti, did a great job of coordinating everything, keeping us updated, and ensuring our project was completed on schedule, and to our complete satisfaction. We are completely pleased with our new deck/screen porch, not only the quality workmanship of the finished project, but also with the entire process of working with Frank and his team from the initial estimates/selection process, thru the construction and finishing work, and then with the follow-up from both our Project Manager Mike and Frank after the work was completed. This addition really adds to the look of our home from both the inside and outside, and included a number of ?extras? Frank included that we were not expecting. Once again, Decks and More to the rescue! Thanks to Frank and his team for a job well done. The team removed my existing wiring and circuit breakers (home was built in the 50s). New wiring and circuit breakers were installed. My existing furnace had seen better years. The old one was replaced with a more efficient one. I have noticed the improvement with the cold weather we are experiencing. My old attic door was VERY difficult to close by myself and the stairs were very heavy. The new attic door is insulated and has weather stripping along the edges to prevent my heat from escaping to the attic. Additionally, the new door has an assist mechanism that closes after I give the initial push. The final service was new insulation added to my attic. This is a much warmer home after all of the repairs. I must add that Frank's team is very professional. I am very comfortable with them in my home.

Would have loved to get a quote, but couldn't get a response to my inquiries. Sent two requests for contact through the website, and left a message for Frank. Didn't receive a response.

It took us nearly a year to bite the bullet and hire Frank to repair our deck, after we'd talked to many other contractors and realized that Frank understood the extent of repairs needed, how to do the job right, and stay within budget. The crew did a wonderful job - our deck is both sturdy and beautiful. Its ridiculously huge (3 stories, wrap around), and we get compliments on it all the time. I was remiss in writing this review when the work was done a 1.5 years ago - now I can say that the deck is still lovely, and, when we had a minor issue with a few boards, he really did honor his 5 year warranty. Now that we've got a safe and stable foundation, we're saving up to do more (waterproof ceiling, screens, etc.). Frank will be the first guy we call for a quote.

From start to finish, we are very pleased with our experience working with Frank Pologruto and his team. We had a friend look at our deck and it was 3 weeks before we called him again and wondered what was going on. We made an appt with Decks & More and Exovations. Decks & More was very responsive in setting up an appt. After telling Frank what we needed to be done and then listening to Frank ideas, we immediately signed with Decks & More. Exovations couldn't come till the next week, but we canceled with them right away. Within the next week, we had a dumpster at our house ready for the tear down of the old deck. Cesar and Javier worked quickly with the tear down and within a short time we had our side deck with new stairs out to the back. Just what I wanted with a diagonal cut of the placement of the wood. We added two gates to keep our puppies from escaping. Renovation on our screened porch began with new bead board ceiling and side boards with additional flashing under the eaves, new screens, and door. It's amazing the transformation that occurred. This house is 30 years old and it looks awesome back there. Then the front porch landing and 2 step with side rails were added.. Additional work was needed underneath the porch with additional flashing. Whenever the team saw a need for additional work they just structurally made it better. Later on even 3 additional posts were installed for better support under the screen porch. Like I said, when they saw what was needed they corrected it. We can't give enough praise for an awesome job to this Old House. We would highly recommend working with Frank and his team of craftsmen. He understands that making you happy is what continues his business. We plan on working with Decks & More on our next project.

We had Decks and More originally rebuild our deck in February/March of 2013. They did an outstanding job. It was a beautiful deck and incredibly well built. We found out a few weeks later just how incredibly well built it actually was. On April 13, we had a 70ft Poplar tree fall on our house and totally destroy the deck. As traumatic as that was, what was even more incredible is what multiple people told us . . .the only reason the entire back section of our house was not destroyed is because the deck absorbed the brunt of the damage. The structural engineers who came to shore up the deck so the tree could be removed told us this. The company who came to remove the tree told us this, and the insurance company told us this as well. The deck was built so incredibly well, and so structurally well, that it literally protected the house. We had some minor roof damage, but that was it. If the deck had been a "normal" deck, it would've been ripped away from the house, and the tree would've gone through our house. We immediately called Decks and More and said there was nobody else we would even consider rebuilding our deck. They came out and rebuilt our deck for the 2nd time to exactly as it was before it was destroyed by the tree. What this tells me is that not only do they do fantastic work, they can repeat the quality. It's not a "maybe" thing. They consistently produce quality work.

Frank spent over an hour with us during the quoting process going over the job, his recommendations, and working up an estimate. He took plenty of time to answer questions that I had, and he was very open and honest. My wife and I were not expecting to spend this much money to redo our deck, so it was reassuring that Frank was willing to go through and explain the costs to us. We had to get our work approved by our HOA, and once we decided to hire Decks N More, Frank put together drawings for us to show the Architechural Committee. Work was scheduled shortly after that. The dumpster and materials arrived on time, as did the crew. They worked quickly and a few days later we had a beautiful new deck. Frank had been onsite from time to time throughout the project, and he came back to do a final inspection with me. A few days later I noticed a couple of 'punch list' type items. I got in touch with Frank the same day, and the following afternoon the fixes had already been made by the time I got home from work. I am very happy with the finished product, and we'll definitely call Frank for any future projects.

The project went somewhat slowly because of the level of detail the client and I required. Nonetheless, Frank was always flexible and found the best tradesmen and products to serve our plans. The final project was a joy for our clients. They allowed us to feature the project in the NARI Tour of Homes and ended up giving guided tours to almost all of the guests that day! The project also won a Contractor of the Year Award at the end of 2011.

They did an excellent job. They used high quality materials. They were not the cheapest but did everything according to the estimate and handled permits and engineering design. I recommend them highly.

They obviously didn't want the work and didn't want to come out an give an estimate. They said $10K minimum, and probably more like $12-14K minimum. This for a 12 x18 deck rebuild. No thanks! Other estimates with companies who actually came out, measured, and bid were less than half of the ball park given on the phone.

We interviewed several companies for the job and Frank was personable (he spoke to my 4 year old son while other contractors brushed past him) and up front with us. The fact that he was the owner and not just a sales representative was apparent in his ability to address structural details and questions that I had. Like several companies, he stressed the quality of his work. Originally, we looked a building a screened-in porch. When we realized we had to reduce the scope of the project to an open porch, Frank was happy to work with us on the price of the project while maintaining good quality on the reduced scope porch. He and I discussed in detail the concrete moorings and method of how his team would anchor the porch to the house and moorings. There were multiple independent inspectors after the work was done and the ,porch and stair railings are up to building code. There was an additional "third handrail" that was installed. I had no idea that it was required by building codes, and I really like the craftsmanship with it was built. The structural details of the foundation, railings, and deck are far superior to the original deck and I expect to see decades of use. Neither my wife nor I are in the construction industry so we had some questions as to the reason for some additional cost (wood repair and deck screws). Frank did answer our questions satisfactory, but became slightly defensive (note: I still ranked him as an "A" on professionalism). He pointed out some structural features that he included in for free in response to our questions, which we didn't quite see the relevant point to answering our question on wood rot. Also, we ranked the "Price" meter as "B" since there were some upgrades that didn't quite make sense to a person not in Construction. For instance, wood deck screws were an upgrade of $450.00 over nails. These screws were used only in the deck itself (not in the foundation or in the railing) and took about 5 to 10 seconds each to apply via a power drill (versus nearly instantly with nail gun). Not being in construction, I didn't really see the driving reason behind the cost of the screws, being in only a small subset of the construction of the porch. All said and done, Frank is a quality builder who proved to be personable, punctual, and one who I would recommend to anyone looking for a durable and attractive deck - capable for lasting for decades. I have chosen Frank with Decks and More to improve my homes again and again. At my townhouse, Frank created a custom deck that enhanced the space and increased the property value, enabling me to sell during challenging times. At my current home, Frank’s team built a large arbor with an Adirondack-style swing. It is the perfect place to sit in the yard and watch the kids play. Now I am looking forward to having Frank and his craftsmen back to my home to create a new outdoor space. I am so excited about the plans he designed for a new retaining wall and steps leading from a new patio to the upper level of my backyard. I must say that what I like best about Decks and More is that Frank and his crew complete my smaller projects with the same attention to detail as they do on their larger projects that I saw in his portfolio and on his website.

After contacting Decks & More, my in home consultation was scheduled very quickly. Frank (the owner) came out, inspected the job and told me he would have to get back to me because of the custom work that would be needed in order to complete my job. During this time he expressed that it was a small job (not much money) and the biggest "pain" would be to pull someone off a more important job to complete my small project. The turn-around-time for the quote was reasonable, around 3 days. The price came in a little higher than what his estimate had been on-site, but that was acceptable because of the custom work that would be needed in order to complete the job. After receiving two additional quotes I decided to choose another contractor that would also repaint the entire porch during the install. The day I made my decision, I received a phone call from Frank as a follow up. In this call I expressed that the pricing was slightly higher, but the real deciding factor was the additional service of painting for a similar price. When I explained this to Frank, he proceeded to tell to me that it is hard to quote a reasonable price for such a small job and that ultimately it was more of a pain to work on a project (such as the one I described) than it is worth to him. Ultimately, Decks & More have beautiful photos of incredible work. If you are planning on having a large project done you should absolutely consider Decks & More. However, if your job is small, even if it is important or big to you, I don't recommend you solicit a quote from Decks & More.

I cannot even begin to say what an outstanding job Frank and his team from Decks and More did! The quality of the job was top notch and worth every penny. The price was more than we were expecting or wanting to pay, but it was worth it. The workers were there every day by 8:30AM and worked until dark. They even worked on a Saturday! Frank truly wants you to be happy with the final result, and he was continually checking on the progress of the job and making sure we were happy with everything. He delivered everything he promised and then some. I was thrilled to learn he does more than just decks as I will definitely call him first for any other type of work we need done. I contacted Frank after approximately 5 weeks to set up a time to get the deck stained. He called me back promptly and gave me several days to pick from for the work to be done. They came out on the scheduled day, completed the work in a timely manner and did an excellent job. My father, who spent over 50 yrs working for a paint company, said he has never seen such quality work. I would recommend Frank and Decks and More to anyone without question.

Frank Pologruto of Decks and More, after viewing our deteriorating existing deck and our plans for a replacement deck, was able to immediately give us a proposal that included what we had requested as well as his proposed modifications and options. We had gotten proposals from five other deck contractors to build, with a permit, our proposed deck. Decks and More had the best price, and after visiting work done by the other contractors and three decks done by Decks and More, selected them for the job because of the high quality of their work. The work crew was able to start immediately, showed up every workday, and worked until the job was completed. The work was done at the quality level we expected, and we are extremely pleased with our new deck.

We contracted with Frank, after proper consultation,and presenting our desires. With Frank's recommendations including some photos of jobs he had done, we came to a quick decision of what we wanted. One photo, ironically, jumped out at us with a design I had pondered previously. Frank stated it would be a 5-6 week project and at the end of the sixth week-- job complete. The attention to detail was exceptional along the way. We were well pleased with the expertise displayed. We would definitely recommend Decks & More to anyone and would, for sure, have them back again.

We decided to have a deck put in and went straight to Angie's List. Frank was at the top of the list and local. Had it not been for the rain, they would have finished in one week. Frank had a crew of workers, and he came by every day to monitor the progress. In addition to the deck, we had deck doors added. The addition of the doors made us have to move a power outlet and a vent, all handled by Frank's crew and included in the cost of the project. Sadly, we are just getting around to staining our deck and now that there's color to it, we appreciate the craftsmanship even more. Things I wished I would have asked for but had no idea at the time: 1. A nice frame/crown molding of some sort around the doors. 2. Extra sanding for the railing to make it just a little more smooth Looking forward to getting some bathrooms redone with Frank!

Frank provided an estimate of services and then submitted an amended plan and estimate when our plans changed. He replaced an existing deck with a slightly larger one. The job was completed in about a week. The work crew was courteous and hard working. The job proceeded smoothly from demolition to replacement. The work is extremely high quality. The work represents a product that more than meets our needs in terms of quality and design. The estimate was fair and consistent with other estimates. We chose Decks and More based on our trust of Frank, the design of the replacement, and the quality of his other work as represented in picures, several of them seen on this web page. His work crew was prompt, thorough, and produced work of clear quality. When it was discovered that the job would entail more work than originally thought, the crew explained the situation and proceeded to accomplish the added work quickly and professionally. I believe in the quality of the work performed so much that I have recommended Frank for another job in our neighborhood. Frank was professional, cutting no corners and doing what he promised. I would not hesitate to call Frank again for another similar job.
