"I hate to leave a bad review of any business but my experience as a customer with WB Chimney has been terrible. They did a horrible job on my wood stove install and it's been a major headache and expense getting it fixed. I'll say that I reached out to them multiple times over the course of two weeks before submitting this review but never once got a response. I had a new wood stove and chimney pipe installed by WB chimney 3 years ago. My roof was brand new at the time. They were a relatively new company but seemed friendly. After 2 years, my roof began to leak directly from the stove pipe in the ceiling. After contacting WB Chimney, they recommended scheduling a service call where they could *****. Because the warranty on the stove install was only 1 year, I paid them $150 to come out. The technicians assessed the roof and stove pipe and added some caulking. The whole assessment and "fix" took 10 minutes. This did nothing to solve my water leak problem. After contacting WB Chimney again, they suggested that there was probably an issue somewhere else on the roof, which is making its way in through the stove pipe. Their recommendation was for me to have a roofer assess the problem. I had the company that installed my roof come out to take a look. This is a local company who has an excellent reputation and has been in business for 20 years. The roofers assessment was that the stove pipe had been installed completely wrong and was bound to fail from the beginning. The cheap and easy fix of slapping a bunch of caulk around the holes was about as shoddy a fix as one could do. Not being a roofing expert, I tried to contact WB Chimney to see what they had to say. Of course I never heard anything back. With no other option I paid the roofing company another $850 to re-shingle and re-caulk around the stove piping. This was nearly as much as I'd paid WB in the first place for the install. That solved the issue. After a month of heavy spring rains, I have yet to have another leak or any other problem. Again, I contacted WB Chimney nearly a dozen times to see if they had anything to say. Never received any response! If I were you, I'd take my business elsewhere to a company that knows what they're doing"

The average cost to repair a fireplace is $575. You might pay anywhere from $95 to $2,500, depending on the severity of repairs and the type of fireplace. A typical repair of an igniter can range from $100 to $150. However, if you need to repair your mantel, expect the bill to be anywhere from $500 to $1,200. Wood fireplaces tend to cost more to repair due to specialized labor costs. Electric fireplaces tend to be the most cost-effective to repair, along with gas.
The cost to install a fireplace is $2,440 on average. This cost can range from $150 to $8,000 or more, depending on the type of fireplace, the materials used, and the size.
Electric fireplaces cost around $1,000 to install, and mostly only require wiring installation. Installing a wood fireplace from scratch could cost upwards of $10,000, depending on the foundation needed to support the weight of the fireplace. In addition, gas fireplaces can cost between $2,500 and $10,000.
The cost to remodel your fireplace is $1,200 on average. This cost can range from $400 to $2,000, depending on the extent of work needed.
If you add a hearth to your fireplace, you can expect to pay between $3 and $200 per square foot. However, if you're refacing your fireplace, the price tag will depend on your chosen materials. If choosing tile, you can pay between $1 and $50 per square foot, depending on the design. Stone is a more expensive material, averaging between $60 and $70 per square foot.
Yes, it can be worth installing a gas fireplace, depending on your home heating needs. The cost to install a gas fireplace can be much lower than the cost to install a comparable wood-burning fireplace. The convenience of starting a fire with the flip of a switch and turning it off just as quickly makes a gas fireplace a big time saver over starting and maintaining a wood-fueled fire. A gas fireplace also does not require ash cleanup or frequent chimney cleaning to remove creosote and other buildup that can lead to chimney fires. Gas fireplaces burn and heat much more cleanly than wood fireplaces.
A gas fireplace insert costs about $3,600 to install, on average. The cost to install a gas log insert ranges from about $700 to $6,500, depending on the size, type of insert, how it works, and heating needs. Gas fireplaces need electrical and gas lines installed properly, so hiring a pro is recommended rather than trying to DIY installation.
