Excellent install provided by Ackerman Security and Certified Installer. Didn't take too long and installer was able to perform walkthrough with me for great understanding of the alarm functionality. Would and will always recommend to peers, colleagues, and relatives.

Excellent install appointment. Technician was very prompt, professional, and educating home owners.

They came in and evaluated the total security of my home - including pointing out some areas of the home that I had not realized were obvious ways a criminal could gain access. They then gave me a quote, which was much lower per month than other "top brand" security monitoring companies I had checked out. They installed the entire system in a couple of hours, and then spent another 45 minutes answering all my wife's questions about how everything worked, what to do if we forgot our password, etc. Overall - excellent experience.

They are very professional and kind. I have enjoyed the prompt responses i have received when the alarm has gone off and the customer service reps have always been very polite. I would definitely recommend this service!!!

We've used Ackerman for over 20 years. They upgraded our system about five years ago to radio monitoring because we'd had a break in and wanted the higher level of protection. I called to request a return to the lower level of home phone monitoring and was told 1) $89+ to come out and change radio monitoring 2) even though we have a "home phone" it's through the internet - they'd still have come out. Basically, we'd have been paying for NO protection if I'd gone this route. Currently looking for another alarm system monitoring service.

Terrible customer service. They never explained any of the small print, and I felt totally gouged by them.

When I moved into my home in August 2013, I signed up with Ackerman to monitor my alarm system. Flash forward August 2015, my house just sold and I will be moving into a high-rise. I called Ackerman to end the monitoring service and was told that I have a 3 year contract and would be required to pay the remaining balance even though the service was being cancelled. When I questioned the the three year contract, I was told they only make exceptions if you are moving outside an area of service. Since they are not able to service a high-rise, it seems that the exception should apply, but they were completely inflexible. Shame on me for not realizing that I had signed a 3 year contract. Sadly, I was told that many customers sign 4-5 year contracts. Consider myself lucky that I'm getting off so easy. I am a serial mover and have used Ackerman at four other houses, but never again. The service was fine, but the way they choose to deal with customer contracts borders on being a scam. Informed consumers beware.

We have been using Ackerman for quite a few years, so we were shocked when they told us that we had been paying for monitoring that they had NOT been doing!!! And to have someone come out to just see what the problem was was going to be $89 for them just to come and them additional money to fix the problem!!! Not COOL!

I knew this was a top company when the rep, John C., showed up on July 3rd at 8:00 am in the pouring rain, just as promised. He listened to what I said I needed, did not try to push services on me that I did not want, and made the whole process very easy. The installer, Chad, showed up today and did a great job installing the system. Everything is working fine and I'm enjoying the easy-to-use keypad. Their pricing is also very competitive.

Everything went very smoothly from the initial sales appointment through the setup and installation of the new components. The only hiccup I experienced was that the technician had to drill the door to replace a sensor and because of the low ceiling, was not able to do it with the door on the hinges. He also is not allowed by Ackerman to take the door down or replace it. This does not make any sense to me. Fortunately, we had construction workers at the house who were happy to help, but if they hadn't been there we would likely have had to do that part ourselves and call the technician back to the house for another appointment. Because of the money I had put into the replacement detectors for the system, the final call to replace the transformer was only charged the cost of the part-- I was not charged a trip fee. That's good business, and I really appreciated it. The detectors were really expensive and that is why I gave a lower grade on price. Their monitoring service is very reasonable. The thing I love about Ackerman is that anytime you call the center, they are right there and available. It is easy to set up appointments, and they are always on time for appointments. That's rare these days.

Everything was fine until we found out that Ackerman was not monitoring our home at all. Turns out that if you cancel your phone land line, they are no longer able to monitor. Rather than notifying you, they just keep billing your credit card. When I called and complained about paying for services that we weren't receiving, they said that we had signed a contract years ago indicating we would notify them if we made changes to our phone line. I certainly didn't remember that and have called them about other issues over the years where they had the opportunity to check our system and they didn't tell me until my most recent call this week. I've spoken with several people there this week and they have acted professionally but have not returned my call as promised and have refused to provide any type of a refund. Buyer beware! Thsi is not the type of organization you want to do business with!

It is $19 a month. The person that came did a good job. It has been working perfect.

We signed up for Ackerman Security in 2010. We elected to have the cost of the equipment spread over three years. Ackerman's account systems apparently aren't set-up to drop that charge at the end of three years, so it continues until the customer calls to question it. (It isn't broken out on the bill. You just receive a total montly charge for equipment and service). When I called, the agent offered to drop the charges starting immediately, but said that she couldn't back date the charges. I asked for a supervisor. He offered to credit me for only ONE year of charges. I requested the full two years credit and finally got it. However, this was only after the supervisor lectured me that as a consumer, I was responsible for monitoring my charges. I know I need to monitor my charges, but companies need to ensure that they are ethical in their billing practices or they are setting themselves up for a class-action suit and lots of bad press.The issue was finally resolved to my satisfaction, but I'm very disappointed in their billing practices and will start looking for a new provider. The fire alarm kept going off at all times of the day/night. I had techs out 3 different times but it never worked. Had to leave work each time. Finally arranged tech to come after hours. Problem never got fixed and they kept trying to get me to schedule tech during day. Finally cancelled with no apologies, no money back.

We got it several months ago. They were pretty good.

I did signup for monitoring with Ackerman, mainly because they were the only security provider of the 3 I called that returned my phone call and set up an appointment. Pros: Easy to get in touch via phone Appointments were handled with great punctuality Salesman and Installer very nice and friendly Installation was completed on time and at estimate level Cons 1. Contract Required - As I was about to sign the contract the salesman informed me it was a 3 year contract. He was vague on the contract termination fees/costs, you are liable for all unused months. I almost walked because of this move by salesman. 2. Their monthly monitoring fee is a little bit higher than others ($27/Mo. for wireless monitoring) 3. Usage of the remote APP requires an additional $7 per month, my current provider does not charge an additional fee. 4. Minor - placed stickers all over the house, asked him to remove them, he did without resistance. A few well placed stickers is enough, I don't need to advertise for Ackerman. 5. I was told none of the fire/smoke detectors were connected to the alarm system by the salesman. The installation tech, informed me I had 1 fire/smoke connected. I am not sure how knowledgable the salesman was regarding security systems, the miss on the fire/smoke seems like a basic part of the education process. NET: I needed to get the system turned on, so I had to go with Ackerman. I will likely shop other security services when my 1 year contract is about to expire.

I switched to this company from ADT after my original contract expired. SDT was charging me 40 something / month. But ADT installed the system so I was purchasing equipment and getting good service. I switched and told them I didn't want a contract. The salesman said no problem. I signed their paperwork because I had to pay for some repairs and it turns out I signed a 3 year contract. This is typical Bait and Switch selling. Don't trust anything their salesmen say.

UGH!!! we originally had a technician out and he told us the mother board was bad. It would be over $600 to replace just that. Then when we had a sales person out, they told us something completely different - we needed new keypads, contacts, etc. Then added the upsell to wireless. We ended up purchasing new keypads and wireless devices. The installers are contractors, not Ackerman employees. We are NOT happy with the wireless system as it keeps loosing "contact" with the cell towers - which means the alarm is not working. So, we are paying for monitoring on a systems that works maybe 70% of the time. Hubby called them to complain and have them rectify, but they are not responsive. Having known this, we would never would have had them do the upgrade and we would never recommend them to anyone.

The tech came and installed the system. He was professional, and respectfull of my home. The few times I forgot to disarm the system they called within 1 minute of the alarm going off.

Ackerman's initial cost may be higher than some competitors, but you get what you pay for. With Ackerman, we have brand-new, state-of-the-art Honeywell equipment that is custom designed for our needs. Ackerman did everything they promised WHEN promised. Our sales rep, Amy Ash, is awesome. She worked with us on our first home and we asked for her by name this time.
