The plumber ran the electric augur. It took about 10 minutes. It cost over two hundred dollars. It worked great, but it cost over 20 dollars per minute. I'll just rent the augur next time or call the guys with the "any clog fixed for $93" billboard.

Snappy did a good job of communicating service personnel arrival by both email and phone contacts. Jason arrived on time, checked for clean out access points. Due to the house age, and narrow crawl space, he could not clean out of the pipes. Mostly I was interested in the camera viewing and he was able to cut the kitchen sink drain connection to the sewer drain pipe. He was able to check with the camera. He gave me a verbal report of the drain (pretty clear) and suggested a location for the installation of a clean out port external to the house. He also gave an estimate for the installation of the clean out port and said the estimate had no expiration date, which is a nice feature. He suggested getting a drain cleaner to clear up the small amount of gunk in the drain pipe. Jason was very careful about keeping the floors clean (he took off his boots), very professional and pleasant to talk to about the job he did. I was pleased to get the pipes looked into as the drains are pretty old.
Description of Work: I purchases a coupon for sewer cleaning and video of our sewer pipe. Snappy contacted me that afternoon and an appt was set up for the following week. Due to the age of the pipes, and narrow crawl space, he was unable to do the clean-out but he did the video viewing of the drain.

We had a back up in our sewer line that connects to the city sewer line. Apparently this is common (ladies, nothing but TP belongs down the toilet). We found this coupon (99 for a connecting sewer line clean w/ video) this was a GREAT bargain. However the dope who sold us our house removed the outside access point I guess and so the tech had to come inside and remove the toilet to snake the pipe. We were charged somewhere around $300 (just over if I am remembering correctly) to take the toilet off. Now, I am not very plumber savvy but I said to the guy, I really don't have that much budgeted for this, is there any other way? And to his credit he did look and really try to find the outside access point but no luck. I then asked how hard is it to move the to move the toilet and expose the pipe (I was envisioning that I could do it and save the $$) but he said it wasn't easy. So, I resigned myself to spend the $$, a clogged toilet is a clogged toilet. He then used regular pliers and moved the toilet in about 30 seconds. I was pretty upset. I DEFINITELY could have done this myself. What a waste of $300. The guy was very nice, did a great job and cleaned up after himself when he was done. And while I did get a pretty good deal because of the coupon, charging $300 to move the toilet is just insane. I am not sure if I would use these guys in the future, the work seems good but I feel like I got screwed.

It looks like Jason followed all of the required procedures to clear your drain line and unfortunately due to the lack of access into your drainage system from an outside cleanout, it required us to go through the toilet drain. The Charge to clear a main line stoppage includes pulling and resetting the toilet, although Jason may have made it look easy he has been doing this for over 15 years and has pulled and reset thousands of toilets. Remember he not only removed, but reset which has to be done correctly or slow leaks around the flange can rot your subfloor. Also with older homes it is a bit more entailed due to old corroded or rusted bolts, brittle flanges, and the like. While it only took him 15-20 minutes to pull it could have taken you and hour or more by the time you gathered the correct tools and disassembled. What would he do in the mean time? Should we then charge for this hour+ of downtime? What if you break a bolt or cracked the flange? This would result in additional charges once we reset the toilet. In all the charges were fair, and I can assure you within $50 plus or minus of all of our competitors. I Purchased this Big Deal with the intent to use this to have a garbage disposal replaced. I purchased the garbage disposal myself so expected the cost for the work to replace it would not be more than $150.00, if even that much. I called to validate my belief and learned that belief was incorrect. I was told the 'member cost' to have a garbage disposal replaced is at minimum $275.00, and could be more if problems are encountered or some other parts are needed. The 'member cost' is applicable for customer that have purchased some type of service agreement with Snappy. I'm not sure what the 'non member' cost is for this work. The gentleman I spoke to was very professional and clearly explained why the estimate he provided for this service is reasonable, and is based on a licensed plumber doing the work. He also mentioned anytime you are working with 'water' there is risk, and that Snappy offers a lifetime warranty on this type of work. He also explained that due to the stringent hiring process, he believes Snappy plumbers are some of the best in the industry. I do not doubt that Snappy plumbers are excellent, but decided to request a refund for this Big Deal as I believe the Snappy cost to simply replace a garbage disposal is too high. I may very well be wrong and this is a fair price for a licensed plumber to replace a garbage disposal, but I am now doubting that I need a licensed plumber to replace a garbage disposal.

I never mind taking the time to discuss our pricing model with potential or existing customers. It’s very easy to assume installing a garbage disposal or running a circuit for an outlet is a simple task and should only be a minimum charge. In fact that is a very common response to many of the services we provide! What most home owners fail to consider is the cost of doing business; things like employee benefits, annual costs of parts and labor warranties, the office staff that keeps the service techs moving from call to call (dispatchers, service managers, QC employees, warehouse staff etc..), taxes, utilities, vehicle maintence, rising gas costs, I can go on and on. All of these have to be built into pricing in order to stay in business so we can be around in year 5 or 6 to honor our warranties. That being said there is many independent contractors and handymen that may not have this overhead and can do jobs at a lower price. When selecting these companies or individuals you always take a risk on service, quality, and will they be around if there repair floods your house or the outlet does not work after a couple of weeks. You must also clarify their certifications to do certain trades and what type of insurances they hold. A lot of contractors get a business license and say they are license; however they hold no state license in electrical or plumbing which is required to perform even the most minuet tasks like installing an outlet. Minimum insurances policies may not cover large damages that can occur from a water line rupture due to installation that can cause thousands of dollars of repairs if no one is home when the rupture occurs. While I admit there are many contractors that are great and do wonderful work there are 10 times as many that are not and Snappy or one of my competitors will be called to repair what they installed or were paid to repair. I know because we see if every day, cheaper is not always better! With a company like Snappy or someone similar in size you have an open call center 24/7 so you know we will be available when you need us, our employees are randomly drug screened, and have undergone extensive background checks before even hiring. And while we are human and make mistakes we will always be available to correct and honor our warranties. With all this said, I will reiterate that we are neither the cheapest service provider nor the highest, we would prefer that the value be showcased through customer service and great workmanship backed by our lifetime warranty! I must admit I am a little baffled by this report. I appreciate you being honest with your experience but feel it is somewhat inaccurate. We came out around mid day on Sunday to try and unstop your sewer line. It is not procedure to show up with excavator on the first trip for a main line back-up. In fact a high percentage are fixed without digging up and repairing the main sewer line, they are performed with a sewer machine cabling the line. Bryan worked very hard at clearing your line that Sunday afternoon without the additional expense of a tractor and dig-up. Once it was determined that your issue was an extensive underground problem at the street we priced the repair and finished the next afternoon rushing to complete before an extreme weather pattern reached our area. While making the repair we also found an issue with your line under the street, contacted the county which repaired for no charge to you, and had your plumbing working before we left. I understand you had to stay in a hotel Sunday night, but this is the fault of a 50 year old sewer line not our plumbing department. We spoke about the scheduling and processes while I was on-site posting the permit and I felt you completely understood what was and had taken place. I am sorry I failed to completely relay the scope of work related to a large sewer line repair as I know it was your first experience with this type of project. However considering we had an hour delay waiting on the county to arrive we still had your plumbing working before 4 that afternoon and completely covered and finished before we left Monday afternoon. I’m sorry you were disappointed with your service call; however after looking at the location notes the model number on your heat pump system indicates it is from the late 80’s. Mike would have been doing you a disservice to not point this out and give you some additional options for upgrading. The system was almost empty on refrigerant, which is a big concern for you because a heat pump runs all year long in heat and cool mode. We found that your auxiliary heat was running when we arrived which can raise your power bill from 20-40% depending on use. Our technicians are trained to provide options on all service calls throughout all 3 of our trades so that the homeowner can make the decision that best suits their situation and budget. I have reviewed your service call and proposal, and can assure the prices are in line with market value. Please keep in mind you are comparing prices for a licensed electrician to install light fixtures, and we feel $149 is more than reasonable as the cost per fixture goes down with quantity. We also quoted to run additional wiring and switches with limited access and no sheetrock damage for $400 which included hanging your light fixture. What sometimes seems like a simple task or is made to look easy by a professional that does this type work every day still has value and pricing must be set to make a profit so that we can stay in business to honor our lifetime warranty. We have a top rating on all our web based marketing sites including the BBB and do so with great customer service, Lifetime Warranties and competitive pricing. We do not claim to be the cheapest, but know we are not the highest service provider in town. With all of the services we provide we cannot charge “handyman” like prices. Description of Work: Removed existing electrical fixtures and then installed new ones in a different location. Installed bath exhaust fans. The bath fans were not installed properly. Being ventless they are a little different. My contractor had to redo the work so I wound up paying twice. I am hoping for a refund but we will see. Before purchasing the Big Deal from Snappy I called Snappy to get an estimate of services. The Service Technician, Mike Faulkner, arrived on time, introduced himself and showed bagdge id with photo. After introduction, he asked to see what I wanted. I showed him the existing ceiling fan in my living room and new fan still in box. I explained that new fan was indentical to existing fan in master bedroom if he needed to see it. He did look at the existing fan in master. He also stated that the cost would be the same as Adam had provided me when I setup the appointment. Mike prompting stated he would get needed tools from truck and would get started. Once he returned he asked if it would be okay to move living room couch to have a better access to fan. He was very careful as to not scratch floor or ceiling with needed tools or when taking down existing fan or installing new one. Once installation of new fail was complete, Mike cleaned up any mess that was made. He sat down and went through invoice and also explained other services Snappy provides. He was extremely nice to provide me helpful info regarding other things he noticed with my new house ...like the power lines connected to house was not installed correctly and HVAC was new but still needed to have it serviced via home warranty before using it.

We had a couple of issues in our house - the heater was not working on the main level and there was a problem with the electrical circuit in our bedroom due to which 2 of our TVs and a play station had been burned. Snappy Services were quick to have someone come out and take a look. The reps. were very friendly, polite and thorough. They explained all the aspects of the faults and did not rush on the job which I really liked. In fact, the electrician - Mike stayed for more than 5 hrs to correct the fault and also pin point the root cause which was very important for us. They also cleaned up after completing the work. The best part was that they provided an estimate of the available options so we could decide which one suited us best. The HVAC rep - Mike also provided us with tips to keep the heater from burning out. The services were a little expensive but I guess the job was extensive too.

I had called around trying to find someone who could come out that day, and these guys made it. The original estimate required a more complex replacement and we negeotiated it till the price matched what was needed - I had originally wanted to replace the main inside the house off on etc. The tech was knowledgeable, professional and courteous. Also advised me I could purchase a discount credit via Angies list that saved me even more.

When we discovered our old water heater was leaking, the company was able to send a repairman within an hour. The repairman, Jack was fantastic. He worked tirelessly and late to get our new hot water heater installed before the end of the day. The leakage had also damaged the wall next to the heater, and Jack provided my husband with assistance to get the wall repaired as well. He returned the next morning(Saturday) to install the toilet. We were very pleased with the response as well as the work that was completed. Will certainly use Snappy again if we need a plumber!

The ladies on the phone were pleasant and professional. The plumber arrived at the appointed time and ran a camera and auger through 75' of sewer drain pipe. He was knowledgeable and proficient and was able to tell me exactly why the house didn't drain. The photos showed a break in the pipe and a massive ball of tree roofs completely occluding the pipe at the sewer tap. He gave me an estimate for a replacement which was close to what 3 other companies quoted, but I found a company that did it for 1/4 what the other quotes were. Would I use them again? Heck yeah!

Furnace inspection and maintenance was well done. Maintenance mad was very clear on what was performed and what overall condition of unit is. Went over their twice yearly maintenance plan and I signed up for that. Electrical inspection was also well done. Provided recommended fixes as well as fixed a problem with light switch at no cost. Both men were polite and knowledgeable. Would have no problem using them again for HVAC or electrical services.

Update: the toilet that Jason supposedly fixed got clogged, and when I plunged it, water came shooting out of the bolt hole in the base of the toilet like a fountain. Obviously, it was not sealed. I sent Snappy an email advising them of this, and they called me and offered to have a tech (not a plumber?) come out and check it out at no charge. I agreed. When the "tech" got here, he agreed with my initial diagnosis that I needed a new wax seal, and said he would get a price for me. I told him that I already paid for it, and was not paying them anything additional. He spoke with his office who said Jason recommended a wax seal replacement but I decline because of the cost. WHAT??? I had a coupon and a new wax seal is what I hired them to do! Jason insisted I didn't need a new wax seal and I unwisely decided to believe him, tho I quizzed him about how he could know that no wax seal was needed without even looking at it. He obviously told the office a different story. There is what seems to be a huge disconnect between the owner who seems to want to do the right thing, and the "techs," at least one of whom is either incompetent or dishonest. Stay away from these guys. If you want a good plumber, call Zurn. They're outstanding. I also have a handyman who can plumb circles around Snappy. I'm calling him now.
Description of Work: Nothing. They wanted me to pay again for getting new wax seal on toilet.

He has been with us for a long time and has many great reviews on this website, so I can only assume it was an honest mistake on his part if the leak was not coming from the faucet. I also know that had it been found to not be the faucet during repair and your handyman’s diagnosis was correct, he would have corrected the charge and made the needed repairs. Going forward if the repairs your handyman made today to not resolve your issues, please give us a call to discuss your options. After some confusion about the scheduled date and time, we met at the condo and the technician, Bryan A. was more than helpful. He went above and beyond to make sure that I was satisfied and to make sure that he, personally, made up for the initial confusion experienced. He was professional, knowledgeable and very dedicated to getting the job done. He also understood that with a rental unit, which this condo was, that I needed to be as cost effective as possible--and he helped me do so even while encountering some unexpected issues during the repair. I would highly recommend the Company and would request Bryan every time!

The technician provided the service that I originallly requested. He then recommended that the furnace be serviced, meaning cleaned, etc. There was an additional charge which seemed reasonable. THe furnace had not been serviced in over a year and I'm sure it was overdue. The technician was quite good, and I was pleased with the service.
Description of Work: The technician inspected the furnace and replaced the filter. This was the work originally covered under the coupon.
