Description of Work: I purchased the big deal for an AC or furnace inspection. They came out and were professional and did the work. However, in order to get a preferred customer discount for work done above and beyond the scope of the inspection, I had to buy a maintenance contract. This part of it felt like a bait and switch because they wouldn't credit the cost of the inspection Big Deal against the cost of the maintenance contract and the technician told me right off that I would need to go back to Angie's List and ask for a refund. I'm honestly annoyed by the extra trouble that put me to. Otherwise, the experience was fine. The maintenance contract was reasonable and the other charges were about average to a little higher than average in cost.

We would also like to point out it is not a bait and switch- the A/C tune-up you purchase through the big deal is just that an A/C tune-up for individual units where the maintenance contract we offer for a small amount more includes all systems at the house for a A/C tune-up and then another furnace tune-up in the fall for all of your units. Angie’s List keeps half of all Big Deal purchases so with all that the plan covers at an already low rate we cannot discount anymore; this is why we allow the refund of the voucher through Angie’s List. You have been a wonderful customer and used us on several of your properties and we again apologize about the inconvenience and will look into our process to make sure there is not a way to correct this going forward for future clients. Description of Work: The electrician was a little early but it worked out with my schedule. He was very professional,fast and pleasant. He explained exactly what he needed to do and how much it would cost. I should mention I called an electrician to take care of the problem years ago and he did not know what the problem was. I wish I had called Snappy back then instead of living with the problem for so long.

Sometimes service work is undervalued and homeowners think all you have to do is “pull a wire” or “glue some pipe”; this is common and understandable. However you must keep in mind that there is a cost to operate a business and what a veteran service tech may make look easy or complete in a set amount of time would be much harder and take longer for a homeowner or handyman to complete. You also have to take the warranties into consideration when you are price shopping contractors to take on a project. We offer a lifetime warranty; what would you get from a smaller handyman service or independent contractor? Will he be reachable when is stops working? Is he licensed? Is he insured? One big issue we see with the electrical industry that should be a huge concern for homeowners is that just because it works does not mean it is correct and safe! We receive many calls each year correcting and fixing items like this that sometime cause more damage to the existing system because of improper installations. In your quote we were installing a 3 way switching system, new lighting outlets, dimmers, and light fixtures. This project would have taken the better part of a day and our quote was approx $850; this price is more than fair once you calculate labor parts and warranty. This would also include the time and skill that it requires to make this installation look like it was always there, meaning no sheetrock damage. I hope this helps understand the value of a qualified licensed tradesman and the a company that warranties his/her work as sometimes the value of their skill can be overlooked. You are correct we were unable to perform your requested services.. There was almost 6” of standing sewage in your crawlspace and you had purchased a $99 drain cleaning coupon which requires a grade level clean-out, not a cast iron plug in a cramp crawlspace full of sewage. We were there to help, but when we suggested pumping out the sewage for obvious reasons including Black Mold you got upset and said you would rent an augur machine and do it yourself. Jason my lead drain tech (has numerous A reviews on Angies List) was on the phone with me during that conversation, so I informed him to tell you to get a full refund on your coupon and we let you take care of it. I apologize if you felt we didn’t want to perform the work, we even offered to get someone out to pump out the sewage but you suggested it wasn’t a big deal. This can prevent a huge health issue if not cleaned up correctly and we wanted to make sure you were aware of it. Never the less I am glad your issue was resolved! ~Adam Bunyard/ General Manager~

Description of Work: I purchased a deal for $75 for $150 in plumbing services. They came out and did a plumbing inspection and caught some things my home inspector missed. I bought their membership package which included regluar visits for plumbing, electrical, AC inspections and have been absolutely thrilled with their service, value, and professionalism. Description of Work: The technician, who came, was very friendly, and appeared to be helpful, but, after having had time to think seriously about his sales pitch, I was taken! I paid $39.99 for the voucher for him to perform the usual fall maintenance on my furnace. After he did that, he sold me a maintenance contract for another $110.00. He said that I Paid $40.00 for the voucher, and that I would pay $110.00 for Snappy to come back in the spring to service my AC unit. Actually, the voucher was worth $75.00, which means that he OVERCHARGED me $35.00 for the maintenance contract. Caveat emptor!

Description of Work: Evaluate gas leak in kitchen and furnace area. Identify the problem and also to provide the cost for the repairs and did not proceed to do any repairs without a discussion to see what items needed to repaired or replaced. I like this so that I was no surprised with a bill and had not considered if I was putting money into something for a repair that would need to be replaced.

Description of Work: Overall, we were very unhappy with Snappy because they are so focused on high pressure sales that they do not listen to the actual needs of the customer. Our experience was as follows: 1. The first service rep stated we needed a new HVAC unit to replace our upstairs HVAC. We were able to find another HVAC company from Angies List that was able to come out to our home and replace a part on our unit that was no longer working. -So we did not need to replace our HVAC with another HVAC unit. We simply need a new part to our current HVAC unit. 2. We had Snappy come to our office to change a filter on the HVAC at our office. The first tech arrived late and stated the following: 1. I am not giving you the deal because it does not apply to office units...so I told him to call his boss because his boss had approved the deal. He called his boss and his boss approved. 2. He said that he could not find the filter location on the unit. I told him where it was and he told me I was incorrect and the filter had to be outside on the unit. I told him that I had been in the office for 5 years and I have had maintenance techs come here for 5 years so I know exactly where the filter is located. I proceeded to show him again, this time he listened and saw the location for the filter. 3. Next he said he did not have that filter on his truck! I said could you please go to Lowes and pick one up because it is 1 mile from the office. He said no. 4. Next he tried to sell me on the fact that I needed more work done to the unit in addition to the filter change. I told him that he could not even change the filter number one and number 2, he had not done any diagnostics on the unit, he just simply looked at the location of the filter in the unit...so how could you determine if additional things needed to be fixed on the unit? He said he has been doing this for awhile...I called his manager and reported the incident. 5. The manager sent another tech the following day to change the filter...this tech was very nice, professional and changed the filter and thanked me for my business. This tech did exactly what I would expect an HVAC tech to do...change the filter, do some diagnostics, and tell me everything was just fine! Even though this tech did a great job, I will never use this company again because of the poor service from the other techs.

I feel that this review is far from 100% accurate and have discussed on 2 separate occasions with you about your experience. As we discussed after the first visit at your home, we quoted to replace your circuit board and blower motor on an older furnace, as both were missing because the previous HVAC contractor removed and took with him before we arrived. We could only replace both as neither were on-site and we also left you a quote to replace the entire unit because of age and the money involved to replacing the missing parts. You had purchased the $49 tune up deal on Angies List and there were no additional charges at that point because you declined all quoted options. A couple weeks later you purchased a 2nd $49 tune special which was for residential homes only and listed in coupon notes, we spoke and because you had used us before I approved the coupon. However once on-site it was a non-standard filter (commercial) and located in a 12’ drop ceiling, after conversation with tech and yourself we rescheduled to the following day because of the ladder required to gain access to unit. The unit was not working at the time of arrival per you so we did quote a diagnostics charge of $69 as that is not included in the tune-up; he was also unable to gain access due to ceiling height so was incapable of appropriately looking at the unit to determine why it was not working. When we sent out our commercial service tech the following day with appropriate ladders and filters it was found to be a safety switch on the furnace door that was not correctly installed that was the cause of the unit not working, in which case the diagnostics charge would have been waived had it been found on the original service call. I apologize about running late for the first scheduled appointment, we sent one our residential only trucks out at that time because he was closer and sometimes commercial jobs can be performed as a standard maintenance, they are all different hence the exclusion from the tune-up special. When we spoke after the original service call I explained that we will always provide different options and solutions (repair, replace, rebuild) on every service call but there are NO pressure tactics whatsoever to up sale items not needed. In conclusion I hate that we were unable to earn you as a customer for future services and hope that you find a contractor to fit your needs.
