Alan, the electrician, was great. When he first evaluated the work he was persistent about making sure the end result was the best possible, in other words ... perfect. The construction in my house did not leave many options available to him to run new cable without having to tear down parts of my ceiling. He ended up doing a great job, running the cable and installing the fan. The work looks great. Alan's creative talents and professionalisms contributed to a job that I was very pleased with. I love my ceiling fan!

I called Craftsman lighting to get a quote to remove a light bulb that had broken off in the socket and also to replace a front door hanging light. I was told there would be a $48 trip fee to have someone come out. Customer service called several time to confirm the time. The technician showed up promptly and was very nice. I purchased replacement lights for the front door but after it was removed decided that I would just have it repaired as the ones that I purchased did not match well. The tech then removed the broken bulb from the socket. He also installed a nut on a bathroom light fixture. The tech was there for 30 minutes since he did not replace the front light. He called back to the office to get a price to charge since he did not actually replace the light. To my surprise the total $150.00 !!! I paid it but I will NEVER call this company again.

When I called to book the appointment, I was told the 3 outlets would be a max of $375. However, when they got here they said because the house was brick, it would be $475. I was also told by the electrician that the Angie's List $25 coupon was "already included" in the quoted price. He pulled out a book of outrageous prices to show me their "regular prices" (all of which were 3-4 times the prices I was quoted on the phone). The outlet installations went fine, with the exception that the holes in the brick around the new outlets were left for me to patch. After the install, I tested the cable jack and found it did not work. It took two more visits to get that working. The electrician was very nice throughout the experience and overall gave me what I paid for at a reasonable price. I am, however, a little irritated that they wouldn't except their own coupon.

Everything now works great. He put everything back just as it was and made sure I understood all pricing before any work began and then when we found an unexpected problem. I'd definitely call them again. Was very happy they do appointments on Saturday as well. They also offer a service plan and a slightly better rate on the work if you order one.
Description of Work: One of our circuit breakers blew and wouldn't reset. Turns out we had a short circuit. Vernon was knowledgeable, pleasant and polite. After hunting around a bit, he showed me where the short occurred and it definitely looked fried. He ended up replacing the outdoor GFCI outlet where the short occurred and adding a new cover so the problem wouldn't happen again. A pretty small job for an electrician but one that was definitely a pretty big inconvenience for us. Our kitchen and outside lights wouldn't work at all before the repair.

Matt was pleasant, seemed knowledgeable and helpful; was very businesslike regarding billing, payment and estimates for additional work. Our appointment was for 8 a.m. and I received a call at 8:00 that Matt was on his way. He arrived at 8:30 a.m. I think $150 was not inexpensive for this work, but the price was completely understood before the work began so I feel good about the whole transaction. And, I will definitely use Craftsmen Electric again (as soon as I buy the new fan).
Description of Work: Troubleshooting of non-functional ceiling fan. Fan motor was burned out so Matt removed the fan. Our house is 18 years old so Matt also described the work he would do to install a new fan up to code and gave me an estimate for that work.

They do really good work. They go time an appointment the very next day which was very nice. Field manager came out and provided a cost estimate and fixed the most urgent matter (the bathroom socket) himself. A few days later, a technician took care of the other items. Later, the field manager came back to double-check the technician's work and deliver the inspection report personally. Overall, very professionally handled.
Description of Work: Replaced 3 non-working fluorescent lights in kitchen and electrical socket in a bathroom; re-attached a front porch coach light that had become disconnected from the wall. Provided safety inspection report of home's electrical set-up.

Craftsmen Electric gave us a one year warranty on the work he did. I had received a $25 coupon from Angie's List and he honored it. He was very experienced and knowledgeable in answering my questions. He did an excellent job.
Description of Work: The electricity in two of our bedrooms did not work. The repairman first diagnosed the problem and then replaced a circuit in our circuit box. He was here for about 45 minutes for the repair.

It went well. I had originally purchased a roof mounted attic fan, but they told me that I would need a roofer to cut a hole in the roof and mount it first. They suggested a gable mounted fan, and they went to a supply store to get one. They came back and installed the new fan in less than 2 hours.

We were very pleased with the company and in particular Alan, the electrician who spent almost two full days at our home. He was punctual, efficient, talented and personable; he was the kind of guy we were comfortable having in our home. Alan did a fine job with the projects we called him out for. He also identified some issues that we, as new homeowners, were not aware of. These were legitimate problems, such as existing ceiling fans installed so poorly that they could fall or start a fire; not attempts to run up the bill. Alan also helped us to identify ways to save money on the work performed. Wish we had another electrical need so we could have him back.

A representative came to the house to do an estimate and the fee was $29.00. The estimator clearly didn't know how to do estimates, spent 90 minutes at our home, and still no written estimate. Thumbing through a huge book and calling into main office numerous times. The partial estimate given was $1600 or "$900 if we bought a service plan with them". Other estimates for the same job came to $400. I asked the estimator to leave as he had been there 90 minutes and still wasn't done and we had an appointment. Other estimates took 10 minutes by other contractors. I informed the owner of these issues and the owner apologized that he had sent out a new untrained estimator and that he would refund our $29. We never did receive an estimate in writing as promised, not that it mattered. The verbal estimate was extremely high.

The technician had difficulty finding the correct size SE wire since the job was on Saturday and many stores were closed, so he was about 4 hours late. But after profusely apologizing, he performed the work quite quickly and it looked great upon completion.

This is the first time I've used Angie's List. I am a former small business owner so first I thoroughly reviewed reports (good and bad) submitted on AL, looking at it as a homeowner & as a business owner (especially the criticisms about pricing because I know how expensive it is to operate a legitimate business). I was so glad I chose to call Craftsmen--from my first chat with their office manager, who offered to work around my schedule that day & kept me informed about Roland's commitments & arrival time. I reviewed my priorities & everything that needed to be done, he immediately submitted what I considered to be a very fair price for all the items. Although it was after 5pm he quickly handled installing the thermostat so that I could finally regulate heat on the terrace level of the house,which had been a big concern. He returned the next morning @ the promised time & thoroughly attended to everything else. He was polite, clean, and NOT in a hurry to take my check & rush out.
Description of Work: Installed new thermostat, motion detector light & sconces on front porch (all to replace old items). Fixed problem with outlets in kitchen, fixed a problem with lights around pool deck (which others have tried to fix before), performed a thorough check of panel boxes & outlets, replaced several outlets that were old/weak or that needed GFI's near sinks. Rewired dead phone outlet so I could hook up new fax machine.

Roland Gandy did a great job! He was very helpful and did the job just as I asked. I highly recommend him. Also, this company was the only one that I could get to come out the same day. Roland showed up exactly on time.
Description of Work: Switched out 9 electric sockets from white to black; switched out a light fixture; switched out three light switches; fixed a light switch to make it control lamps pugged into outlets; installed one canned light.
