I could not have had a better experience. Michael was fantastic. After determining that the problem wasn't what I thought it was, I was ready to look at the newly installed dishwasher as the culprit. Michael wanted to take a look at it anyway and I am glad he did. His persistence and professionalism was exemplary. I would without a doubt recommend Lightning Bug Electric and to ask for Michael.
Description of Work: The dishwasher was tripping the breaker when the washing machine was running and I thought that one was overloading the other. As it turns out, I was wrong. Michael determined both devices were on separate breakers and long story short, the issue is most likely with a small water heater unit attached to the kitchen sink or there may be short in the main wiring. We should know in the next few days if the heater is the culprit.

Lightning Bug was contacted to help with some wiring issues in my home office. Michael Williams arrived within the agreed upon window and completed the work as expected. He also left quotes for additional work including new outlet installs for flat panel TV's and breaker panel replacement. Michael was very friendly and courteous overall. Would definitely recommend Lightning Bug and use them again.

I had several lights in my house that needed to be replaced and I wanted to add motion lights to the exterior. Michael was very punctual and in fact was able to come earlier than the promised time. He took the time to look at each area of concern and checked my electrical panel as a courtesy. He offered a written estimate for the work and then I selected the services that I was able to do at the time. Prices were not outrageous and there was no pressure to have all of the work done during that visit. Overall, he was very polite and professional and as a single woman I felt very safe having him in my home. I would definitely recommend his company and ask for Michael Williams.
Description of Work: Lights replaced inside house and I was given an estimate for motion lights on the outside.

I've used them before to change ceiling fans and was delighted with their service. Once again, service was great. Roland was assigned to come to my home and he was right on time. We walked through the areas that needed work and Roland took care of each item. He discovered that the original GFI that was put in for my porch outlets had been done incorrectly -- the box had been installed for an indoor GFI instead of an outdoor one. It had burned out and caused my other outlets to go down. Roland showed me the problem and inquired as to whether or not I wanted to go back to the construction group who had put it in. I told him no, that I did not want to use them again. He was trying to save me money by having the installer replace it for free. He went ahead and put in the proper materials and the outlets are working just fine. Roland did a great job with no fuss or mess! I will call Lightning Bug for all my electrical needs. They are great to work with, from the initial call to the cleanup. Prompt, courteous, efficient, and thorough, they provide a great service that makes me confident that any electrical work is done properly. Their number hangs in my kitchen and I will call them for all my electrical needs. Thank you Roland and Lightning Bug for another great experience.
Description of Work: I needed to put a light over my kitchen sink after remodeling my kitchen. I also needed a ceiling fan changed and an outdoor patio light changed. I also had some porch outlets that were not working. I took advantage of an Angie's List deal for installation of my ceiling fan and had Lightning Bug come out to do all the work.

Everything was performed very professionally.
Description of Work: I had four light fixtures installed, three electrical outlets replaced and some outlets diagnosed as to why they did not work and repaired. The technician explained to me the scope of the work and how much it would cost. The Angies list coupon saved me a service call charge and gave me a discount on the total. It still cost more than I thought it should have but in the past I have had handymen do this type of work and had subsequent problems. This was the first time I have used a licenced electrician.

I took advantage of the Big Deal offer to have a ceiling fan installed for $75 in a house that my wife and I recently purchased. I got a call thirty minutes ahead from their manager letting me know that Josh the electrician would be there. Sure enough, Josh let me know he was there about 30 minutes later. Turns out the previous owners of the property removed the lock box even though we stipulated that it was to remain on the property. Josh patiently waited while I phoned the previous owners to find out they had placed the key above the door frame. Once inside, he called to let me know that the down rod provided with the ceiling fan was too short for the space.At this point he could have simply left, but he stayed and patiently waited for me to arrive with a longer downrod (we were heading to the houe anyway to get a new lock box installed). We stuck around and Josh showed me how to install the ceiling fan. He was the perfect professional and teacher. When we flicked the switch to turn on the ceiling fan, we discovered that the fan motor itself was on a dimming switch. He advised me that we'd want to replace the switch and walked through exactly how I would need to do this.There's no doubt at all in my mind that Lightning Bug Electric and Josh in particular will be my go-to electricians from now on.
Description of Work: Needed Ceiling Fan installed in the kitchen. We bought the ceiling fan and took advantage of the Big Deal offer to have it installed for $75.

My electrician was Michael and he was very nice, professional, and worked relatively quickly because he knew I was trying to get to work. He was technically on time however he showed up at the very end of the 2 hour window. I did receive a call about 45 minutes before his arrival though so punctuality was not an issue. That being said, this was the first time I've ever had to call an electrician and I did not get any other quotes because this was somewhat of an emergency situation. The service was WAY more expensive than I expected and for that I kind of ding the receptionist. She never mentioned that every service was a flat rate and if she had told me the flat rate for a single circuit diagnostic (~$300) I would have tried to get another quote. Additionally, the single circuit diagnostic was supposed to include "repair or replacement of bad devices" which I now assume means switches, breakers, or outlets and does not include any wiring. My problem was a stapled wire in the wall and replacing that was an additional $50 fee even though the wire was only about 4' long. Granted the wire pull still didn't look easy but considering I was already in for $300 and the entire call only lasted 2 hours I think the wire could have been included. Additionally there was another wire stapled but I had to go to work and was informed that having that wire replaced during this visit wouldn't save me any money compared to calling them out again so I decided to delay that portion of the repair. In any case, the work was professional and if you are more familiar with electrician pricing and the prices I mentioned don't sound outrageous then by all means use this provider. My only recommendation is to get multiple quotes if possible and if you call Lightning Bug for a repair problem, they should be able to give you standard pricing without having a guy come out.
Description of Work: Had a single circuit breaker tripping repeatedly. I had them come diagnose and repair the circuit.

Description of Work: I needed an additional GFI outlet in the upstairs hall bath. The owner Tony came to the house and did a great job. He detrmined how much power i needed on this outlet, which circuit to connect it to, evaluated and cleaned the electrical panels in the basement and identified exaclty which breaker controlled what parts of the house. He explained everything thoroughly and described everything he needed to do. Price quotoes were given to me before he performed the service.

The electrician, Josh M., was great. I had only expected to hire Lightning Bug for the first job (the outlet), but was so comfortable with this electrician's advice and the care he took with his work, that I scheduled another job (the disposal) within weeks.
Description of Work: Josh M. rewired an outlet to put it on a different breaker. He came back for a second appointment a few weeks later to re-wire the garbage disposal and relocate the disposal switch and outlet.

Serviceman Roland was VERY rude. At first I was pleased that I scheduled the install on Monday and he was able to come on Wednesday. Then was pleased that the office called an hour before the appointment to say Roland was leaving his other job and could meet me in 25 minutes. So, I left my office early... Roland was a no-show until 25 minutes AFTER the scheduled appointment time (not a problem except that he just disappeared for a long time and made me lose time at work.) Then, when he arrived at the door, I guess his office must have wondered where he was. he didn't say hello, didn't say "I'm from Lightning Bug Electric", not that he was here to install the fan, no smile to greet - nothing. He has a nametag - that's how I know it is Roland. I showed him where the room and the fan were and he got started. When he told me it would cost $119 to change the electric box in the ceiling to a "fan-rated", I said to go ahead and do that - clearly I have no choice. BUT - I called the company where I bought the fan the day before (not a big box national home store) to see what they would have charged for the same thing if they were installing, they said $45. So I called Lightning Bug about that and Jason (presumably management) called back and was very professional, courteous and friendly and wanted to make sure I was treated fairly. I tha this was a fairly new house, an easy swap out of the box, the technician was already here, and a second source thought that was very expensive. So Jason DID reduce that extra cost based on that. BUT- I heard Roland's phone ring when Jason was telling him to reduce the extra cost. After that I could hear Roland griping and complaining to himself (not very much under his breath!) - jeez and all that...then slamming doors as he came in and out. He finished the job and brought me my papers to sign to charge the extra to my credit card. Now with a character like that I wonder... would that be someone that would take out his anger on my credit card? I signed and he left as rudely as he came in. 15 minutes later my wife came home and saw his truck still sitting at the end of the cul-de-sac. No problem with that...should be normal if he's writing up his paperwork...but gosh, if he's that hateful, then....? The work itself, as far as I can tell, was done fine. I suspect from the other reports on Angie's list that this guy was just a dud in their organization.

Used an Angies list coupon for an exterior outlet install. Also asked the technician to look at a few other minor electrical issues I had around my house. Technician was professional, right on time, and very knowledgeable. Roland more than happy to explain what he was doing and the other issues with my main panel that the inspector overlooked when we bought the house a few months ago. Will definitely use again for future work.

Josh was my electrician and he came by on Saturday as scheduled to install a ceiling fan. Josh had a great attitude and in no time had my new ceiling fan working. He was a pleasure to work with and I would ask for him again when in need of electricial services from Lightning Bug. Another positive note is that I called on a Tuesday and was able to schedule the work to be performed the following Saturday. I had a very good experience with this company my first time around and would definitely use them again in the future.

Prompt, courteous and very professional. Took 2 full days to get everything done. Plus got many extra tips from Alan as he was working. Expensive but we think well worth it. Guess we'll find out if/when we have another ice storm and outage.

We needed a new water heater and the plumbing service said Dekalb County would not let us replace the existing gas unit it would need to be moved or converted to electric. We wanted a tankless and planed where to move it and accepted the quote. At the last minute they said, oh you need an electrical outlet next to the tankless unit and we do not provide electrical service... Not happy I sent them away and called Lightning Bug Electric. We used them in North Georgia a few weeks ago and were very happy. I mentioned we would like to use Roger again and they called back within an hour and said he was on his way. Roger was great weighing the pros and cons of tankless to electrical conversion. We decided on the conversion and agreed to begin the next morning at 10 am. The next morning at 9:30 we got the call Roger was on his way, and he arrived a little before ten. Like the pro he is he put on shoe boots and began to work on a new outlet in our patio room. I figured while he was here to check off one of our wish list items. He did this in less than 20 minutes and it looks grate and is wonderful having power over our buffet. We were still waiting on the plumber to return while Roger made plans how to run the power from the main box to the second floor closet. He ended up doing it without having to cut any holes in the sheetrock!! While working on the breaker box he double checked the existing breakers. The plumbers finally showed up and moved the waterheater. Roger jumped right in and installed a box and ran the power then made the connections to the new waterheater. Once again we were very pleased with the workmanship and friendly attatude we get from lightening bug and Roger! Thank for the help and wonderful work. We will be calling again in the spring to connect the whole house fan in North Ga. PS only one DON'T: do not call anyone else for your electrical work except Lightening Bug Electrical!
Description of Work: Roger added an electrical outlet in our sun room. And ran an electrical line from the main box to an upstairs bedroom closet to convert our water heater from gas to electric.

They were okay when they did the job, but when I had a question about a switch they had left in test mode, they said that they had no record of having done any work in my area. The lights do not come on and off properly.

Called to have technician come out about adding an electrical outlet about 15" above and 12 " over from where one currently was placed. After consulting, we decided not to perform the move but rather opt for a different fix. Roger was very informative, prompt, professional and pleasant. We have several projects we need help with and Roger was very detailed in pricing and information/ options. ie motion sensors, something I did not know about for bathrooms where the light switch had to be placed away from the doors entrance due to 2x4"s. We are definitely going to have all the jobs discussed with Roger done and will be calling Lightning Bug back to complete the work. The $20.00 fee to come out was well worth the information and options given to us. We will be asking for Roger to return.
Description of Work: We opted not to have what we thought we be an easy job done. Roger explained why we could not do the job the way we were imagining due to code. He was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed having him in our home.

I called the company yesterday and they sent one of their technicians, Alan, this morning! Alan was incredible. Very professional. There were 2 other electrical jobs I was considering having done. Alan gave me much better options that would cost me hardly anything, when he could have easily just done the jobs and charged for them. I just joined Angie's list so this is the first company I've used. I am very happy with the work Alan did, and would definitely use this company and request him again.

The person was right on time and was finished quickly. He didn't try and talk me into buying other services as well. He did a good job and he liked to talk as well. Overall I would use the company again for any electrical work I had.
Description of Work: I did not have a ceiling fan installed. Instead I had an old Dining Room chandelier taken down and a new ceiling fixture installed.
