The only problem I had with this installation was the location. The advertizement just stated that they would install an outdoor outlet. The ad never mentioned (at least not to my recollection) that the new outlet would need to be directly outside of an existing indoor outlet. That was not where I wanted an outlet. I went ahead and had one installed but only because the installer was already there. If I had it to do again, I would send him away which he offered to do and give me a refund. The installation itself was done professionally and the installer was nice and polite. I just didn't like what I viewed to be deceptive advertizing.

The receptionist on the phone was great to speak with and she was able to set up an appointment easily. The technician came to my home and didn’t necessarily provide the best first impression. He walked through to the back and looked to see there wasn’t any box or circuits there for the install. He said he couldn’t do that so he called someone to get the conditions of the coupon and see what any additional quotes would be. They said it would be just under $500.00 for the install. I told him that I wasn’t interested. After looking at the description of the deal, it states that if there are not boxes or circuits, it would only be an additional $175 which would have been more reasonable. I have since asked for a refund.

It went quickly and they gave me a price upfront. Plus, we had scheduled 1 fan install and decided at the last minute to do 2 more. The installer took this in stride and did all the work quickly and efficiently.
Description of Work: Installed 3 ceiling fans, including adding 2 brace boxes where before there were only boxes rated for light fixtures.

During the installation process of the outdoor outlets, I was told by the technician that my indoor receptacles, to which the outdoor receptacles were wired, should be replaced. I did not ask, at the time, what the extra cost would be - this was my big mistake. The receptacles are priced at the local hardware store at less than $5 each. I expected to pay a small fee for additional labor for this installation; instead I was charged what I consider to be an outrageous up-charge of nearly $200. When I was contacted later by the contractor company to see "how the installation went", I told the caller that I thought this additional service was overpriced, since their technician was already at the house and had the receptacle removed for the installation of the outlets that I had already purchased. The only response that I received was "I will let management know". I have not had any response from them, nor do I expect to hear from them. The technician was professional and courteous and cleaned up all of the mess prior to departure. I do not blame him. He was, I'm sure, simply following his company's pricing policy. I will not use this provider's service again. UPDATE: After posting the review above on Angie's List, I was contacted by the business manager for Lightning Bug. After much discussion, He agreed to lower the price charges for installation of the two indoor outlets. The credit has now appeared on my card statement. Thank you, Angie's List!
Description of Work: Installation of two exterior outlets, bought via Angie's List, for $129. each (total $258). Also replaced two indoor receptacles, for $98.04 each (total $196.08).

The work was done exactly the way we wanted it to be. The guys worked diligently all day. They had to put up two ceiling fans where there had not been one prior. They did a fantastic job. We would recommend them to anyone and plan on using them for any future electrical work we may need. They were able to get the job done sooner than expected due to a cancellation.

As always, the work performed was top-notch and done right the first time. They are a very well run company, down to the smallest details. And most importantly-they are honest! Everyone that I've interacted with treat you like you're their most important customer.
Description of Work: I have used this company twice before, and when I had decided to have all of my old circuit breakers replaced (they were over 20 years old) I called on them first. When I had mentioned that they were just a little bit higher in the for estimate for the job, they were kind enough to match their competitors price. They replaced all the breakers, including the main breaker, and installed a whole-house surge protector.

I purchased two of their big deals since I own a 1939 house which does not have any external electrical outlets and I had a bad experience with them. When I bought the external electrical outlet I was thinking that it would be the kind that I have always seen on houses where there is a little thing flushed to the house when I walk outside which can be flipped up and looks very nice. When their gentleman came out he told me he could only put the outlet where there was an ink adjacent to a plug which ended up being ok. However I noticed that all he was doing was drilling a very small hole in the siding and then attaching the humungous box along with two other boxes to it. By the time it was done it was a four foot by three inches outlet sticking out twelve inches from the house. When I asked him why it was like this he told me this was because it was what I had purchased. I told him I had purchased the right kind which was the kind that goes into the siding so that it looks nice but he said I did not pay for that. I had to call the supervisor to get the job fixed. The gentleman who came out the second time was nice and spent about four hours fixing it all. The company did make it right but I could not believe what was happening. I tried following up with the company about getting my whole house inspected and becoming one of their customers. When I tried to call them back to set up a time their receptionist said that somebody would call back but they never did. In the end their quality was excellent and they did respond very well. They were pretty good about calling everyone who had purchased their deals.

We got quotes from several (highly rated) companies on Angie's List for a number of electrical jobs around the house with fairly mixed results on the quote experience. This was the worst. They came out on Friday to give the quote (which they wanted to charge $30 for - glad we balked on paying that in retrospect), and immediately launched into how difficult it would be to do some of the work. "Well, you know, we'll probably need to use two people to change that light fixture, we'll need two ladders"...honestly, I don't really care what you need to do, I just want to know how much first and then we can talk about what goes into it afterwards if the price seems out of whack. Took FOREVER to go through the house and put together a quote. At the end of the meeting, we were told that we'd get the quote later that day (others gave us a quote before they left the house). It's now Monday and we're still waiting for the quote. That helped make the decision for us to use one of the other companies.

They did a good job but were over priced and they up-charged on basic service after their initial quote. Make sure to make a final quote from them and a statement that they wouldn't deviate their prices and to clarify whether or not their quotes include service.

This is my second ceiling fan install with this company, and the service gets better every time! I am no slouch when it comes to home repair (my father was a general contractor, and did he ever work me hard), so I know a few things about home repairs but can not perform them anymore after a recent heart attack. These folks are HONEST! Excellent communication as to when the techs woould arrive, no surprises, no gimmicks, no kidding. The work was done flawlessly, and they even wear foot covers to protect your floors;clean up when done; and explain what was done and NEVER any pressure to perform any reccomended repairs.

I called and made the appointment and within a couple of days they came out and installed it. They were fine. They came out and installed the ceiling fan for the coupon and then I had them put in the rheostat which they seemed to be fairly knowledgeable, but I just think I paid more money to have it installed then I would have gotten elsewhere.

I am very impressed with Lightning Bug Electric. I recently leased a Nissan Leaf. As part of the program, I applied to EcoTotality for a "free" at home 240 volt charger from Blink. The charge is "free" as long as I let Blink and EcoTotality pull data from the charger for 13 months (via wifi). The EcoTotality project also gives you a $750 installation allowance. Note that my cost listed above is within the $750 allowance. Although the work cost $500, I paid nothing out of pocket. EcoTotality selected Lighting Bug for the evaluation and install. They came to my home several weeks ago to do the estimate, and because my panel was located inside the house but on a wall shared with the garage, there would be minimal expenses. When the install day game, Lightning Bug called to say they could send their tech over earlier than expected if that was OK. It was fine with me, and he arrived about 30 minutes later (but still well ahead of the appointment time). The tech (Leo) took a look at everything and noted that there would be some work to be done moving circuits and such, but it was all covered by the allowance EcoTotality had given me for the install. I understand that the original estimate might have been incorrect as I probably should have been charged for the extra work, but Lighting Bug stood behind its estimate and honored the price they had given me. The tech was here about 3 hours and had to move two circuits to accommodate the breaker for the Blink charger. The install was flawless, and the tech managed to place it in just the right place so I'd be able to move my fridge right next to it. The work was clean and neat, and the tech cleaned everything up when he was done and even gave me a walk through for how to use the unit. I was so impressed with his work that I am considering hiring Lightning Bug for any future electrical work on my home.

They came to assess the job and decide where to place the outlets and what type of lighting was needed. They measured and decided where everything would go. An appt. was made and they returned with all the equipment to install the lights. They were here several hours and installed 5 under cabinet lights with new outlets and wiring. They inspected our entire system for any concerns and they also took on a couple other requests of concern, one was a hot light switch. They were able to change it out and replace it with a higher voltage for a dimmer switch on a chandelier. We are very happy with all the work and will keep their number on speed dial should we need them in the future.

Responsive and arrived on time. Installation was a plastic box - had expected metal with cover but serviceman indicated code now recommended the plastic model with cover. Installation was simple, an electrical outlet was in the desired area on the inside of the house to tie into the electricity. Work was completed to satisfaction.
Description of Work: Installation of exterior electrical box - to be used for holiday lights.
