Leo Bosarge was my technician. He was on time, courteous, informative and very clean as he worked. He answered all my questions and completed this job efficiently. I would highly recommend Lihgtning Bug Electric and will use them again for my electrical needs.

Jeremy Reel did a fantastic job! He arrived on time, put on shoe protection, and let me show him my three issues. Thankfully instead of having to move "Wood Henge" (our giant entertainment center), he checked back in the line to find a wire had burned out (which is scary as is), and got to work replacing it without having to open every outlet in the place. Even before that, he checked my fuse box to make sure it wasn't an issue even earlier in the system with the grounds. After fixing my burned wire issue, he quickly moved through the other two issues explaining each had some loose wiring, and recommending improvements. While you always feel there is something else you're going to have recommended be done, at least he made recommendations with NO pressure to buy them now. Once he stated a few of them, I asked him to go back through and prioritize and give estimates for each. He recognized that it's nice these things can be done in stages, and even that I could wait until something started happening before needing to do the lowest priorities (loosening outlets could generally start needing to be replaced). While I'm not looking forward to some of the recommended services (and their costs), as my house ages, I know these things would give me piece of mind. Thank you all for your work!
Description of Work: Diagnosed and repaired burned out wire and replaced another loose outlet. Checked breaker panel and another possible loose dimmer switch.

I was very pleased that Lightning Bug got back in touch immediately, and quickly scheduled a time to come out. Two people came, an electrician and an apprentice, and went over the whole house thoroughly, including going up in the attic to see if any of my wiring had been damaged by some of the critters that have taken up housekeeping up there over the years, and checking the line to the house from the street. They identified a number of wall switches that were faulty -- due to the original construction crew having taken a notorious shortcut called, appropriately enough, "back-stabbing". They also told me that the grounding at my hot water heater was not done correctly (or not done at all -- I can't remember which) and that the person who'd installed my generator had put in an electrical panel that was not up to code. They pointed out that I did not have the GFCI switches now required at every sink, and that this might hold me up at closing some day. And I learned that the fire alarm that was wired into the house at construction had a life span of about 12 years max, and should have been replaced in 1993, 2003, 2013. . . it had not. Finally, one of my outside outlets didn't work any more. They did a quick fix on the worst wall switch right then, so I would be safe until they got back the following Wednesday. I got two electricians on the next trip, so that the work went fast. Both trips, they were on time, polite and professional, and the price did not change from the original estimate. To sum, they found safety problems I had no idea existed, and fixed them, so I am safer now than I was before, thanks to them. They found that what I'd worried about was just fine, saving me a whole bunch of money and anxiety.
Description of Work: This started out as a $125 Big Deal for a whole-house electrical inspection. I purchased this because I have a 31-year-old house with two wall switches that were popping & buzzing and sometimes just not working at all. I was worried about an electrical fire. Besides wanting a safe and comfortable place for me and mine to live, I wanted to catch up work that has needed doing (if any) and have the house in ready-to-sell condition just in case -- I explained to them that if I did decide to sell in a year or two, I didn't want to have to be doing everything (and spending tens of thousands of dollars) all at one time.

The technician found and loose wire in an outlet on the floor below. He replaced the GFI outlet in the upstairs bathroom and corrected a problem with two circuit breakers in my electrical panel that were rated too high for the electrical wire they were connected. to.

Our experience with Lightning Bug was great, and helped resolve some issues we had from a previous electrician who performed very shoddy work. Lightning Bug helped address all of those issues we knew we needed to fix, as well as a few additional safety concerns. James Durbin performed a thorough inspection of our home -- taking note of all the known issues we already had on our fix list, as well as suggesting a few other improvements and upgrades. James was careful to break his suggestions down into critical safety concerns that NEEDED to be addressed, and optional services or improvements that we might WANT to address either immediately or in the future. I appreciated the time he took to explain everything without feeling like I was being pressured to purchase unnecessary equipment or services. In the end, James performed a significant amount of work -- most importantly rewiring and properly grounding the outlets in our home office -- at a very reasonable price. He worked very efficiently but made it clear as we were discussing the list of issues he discovered that he was not in a rush to get somewhere else until all our items were properly addressed. He was very courteous and professional, and my wife and I especially appreciated him taking care with our cats to make sure they stayed indoors and out of the basement, attic, and crawlspaces while he was working. He was also very careful to keep our house clean -- wearing shoe covers inside the house and cleaning up all of the wiring and trash. All in all a great experience, and I would definitely recommend Lighting Bug to other and would use them again for future electrical work.

Response from Lightning Bug Electric
We apologize for any inconvenience you may have suffered. We do our best to handle every customers schedule to the best of our ability. Sometimes in our line of work if you you are not the first appointment of the day we have other customers that we are working on and if they add additional work or we run into a problem we may be delayed to our next appointment. On this job we did try and call and move the appointment to another day, and before we could offer maybe for later in the day this customer was rude and hung up. I believe we handled this in a professional manner and the way this customer handled himself I do not think he even knows what professional means. If you would like to discuss this any further feel free to contact our office at 770-792-9790 and ask for Tony Blanca.

We purchased a Big Deal to have a ceiling fan installed. Upon removing the old fan, Leo noted that the previous owners had installed the wrong (plastic) box and that, in accordance with Company policy, he could not proceed unless we had the proper (metal) box. Since we wanted to be protected -- and did not want to have him in violation of company requirements -- we agreed to the installation at the price of $100. At no time were we pressured to do the additional work. We are very pleased that Leo is a conscientious employee who could have -- but did not -- ignored his company's policies in this matter. Leo was prompt in keeping our appointment, professional and neat in his work, and very congenial. We are already discussing hiring Lightning Bug Electric to complete another project and will be calling them soon to schedule an appointment.

Unfortunately, this was a very poor experience for us. We recently moved into a new home and wanted to update and replace approximately six of the interior lights as well as three ceiling fans. We also wanted some lighting in the front of our home. Tim was the salesperson who worked with us initially and he was very professional and friendly, which is why we didn't give an F rating. The two men that came to do the lighting, however, were a different story. They were Leo and Jaison and they showed up on a THursday and stated they were only doing the outside lights. They were there for only a few hours that day, maybe 3 1/2 hours or so, and then they left. The next day, there was so much left to do in the house that they ended up being there until almost 9 pm at night. One of the things we were having installed was a pot rack with lighting above our kitchen island. They hollard for me from the kitchen while they were doing this and when I entered they had already cut a hole in the ceiling and stated they would need to insert a board to hold the rack. I said that was fine as it was a small hole and thought the mount for the rack would cover the hole in the ceiling. However, awhile later they told me to come back in and they had cut a huge hole in the ceiling as well as another hole in another part of the ceiling. They stated that they had run into pipes and a steel beam and so they couldn't hook the rack up how we wanted with it being on it's own light switch. So they linked it into the other kitchen lights instead. However, they stated it was our responsibility to fix the ceiling. The ceiling looked terrible. One of the cuts in the plaster was not even flush with the ceiling anymore and there was a huge cut surrounding the pot rack which was visibly noticable. They stated they could have run the lighting through the garage instead, which at least the damage wouldn't have been done to our ceiling, but that was a lot of work and they were getting tired. Our thoughts were 'that's your job' and they chose to only work a brief time the day before. We also had paid for them to put in lighting under our kitchen counters and they did not do one of them because 'it was too difficult'. Also, they left a mess in the master bathroom which I had to clean up and the foyer light was full of their fingerprints and the lights inside were crooked when they hung it and they didn't straighten them out. We contacted Tim the next day with our concerns and he came right out and examined the damage to the ceiling as well as them not doing the lights under one of the kitchen cabinets. He stated this was unacceptable and he would have them come back to fix it. He sent the same guys back and the first thing they said was they only planned on being there until 11 so it felt like they were rushing and not wanting to be there. They attempted to fix the ceiling with putty but they said they couldn't paint it because they didn't know what color of white paint it was. They also had to pull our dishwasher out to do the light under the kitchen cabinet that they skipped and they were very rough with the dishwasher. They also shoved it back in so hard that we were worried it was broken. When they left, we noticed there was a huge dent in the dishwasher and now it doesn't run right. It sounds like it's off balance and makes a loud noise that it didn't before while washing the dishes. We also noticed that they made a significant gouge in the wood underneath our kitchen cabinets from where they ran the lights underneath. Plus, we will have to pay to have the ceiling finished and painted correctly. We will probably also have to pay someone to come out and look at our dishwasher. It felt like this was a rushed job and there was no concern about doing it well. Neither Tim or anyone else followed up with us after the second time the guys came to see if we were pleased with the results. At this point, we simply want to be done with this company. It is very disheartening that we paid over five thousand dollars and this was the results we are left with. These were supposed to be professionals so there should not have been any further work we needed to do or excuses of being too tired or something was too difficult to do. If they couldn't do the job, we should have been informed of that. We had sent all the pictures to Tim beforehand of the lights we wanted installed and he had been to our house to look at everything and he stated there was no problem doing these projects. We wish we would have went with a different company and will do so in the future.

Response from Lightning Bug Electric
Thank you for taking the time to give such a thorough review of your experience. I have talked with the individuals that came out and got their side of the story. The first day they came out they only worked on the outside because they were all muddy from a previous outside job they had completed earlier. We felt that it would be better to complete all the outside work that day and come back the following day to complete the inside work. Just like any job that has sheet rock and walls that are closed we can not see what is behind them and often run into things that may take longer and cause change of plans. The first hole we always cut is for the light box in the ceiling and then we are able to see what is in the ceiling. Most of the time we are able to put the light box in the hole and you never see any other holes unless like this job there was a pipe in the way and steel beam in the way we needed to run our wiring. We always asked before we cut any holes in a customers home and get their approval as well as let them know we are not a drywall company and they will have to have someone else come in and fix. We can bring someone in to fix and add to the bill, this is always an option if the customer would like. Before we started the job we had taking pictures of the kitchen and you can see the dent in the dishwasher before we ever removed it. I am sorry for any miscommunication that we may have had on this job. Please understand that we work hard everyday to make all our customers happy and have tried to reach out to the customer but have not heard anything back.
