They had came out and given me an estimate for a new A/C unit. They were nice and professional but pricing was higher than other estimates I had been quoted. They also kept telling me that I needed a furnace and A/C because something about a blower and no one else had mentioned that to me.

We have had another company quote us and they came in $1,000 less. They did a really good job. They came in within two days and replaced the whole system. The technicians stayed here at the house from 8:00 AM to 9:30 PM until they got everything right.

I called Casteel for a plumbing related issue at 4:00 PM. They were able to get able to get John (general manager of their new plumbing division). He arrived at 6:30 PM and was thorough in assessing where my water leak was coming from and was friendly and courteous throughout the evening. He kept me abreast as to what the options were and what the cost would be as the night went on. The leak was repaired before John left that evening around 9:00 PM. As the leak was causing water damage to my home, I am grateful that he was able to complete the job that evening. Casteel also installed my current HVAC system and services the same and the service has always been exemplary.
Description of Work: Repaired water leak caused by a crack in the stack for the waste system. The AC condensation line had been run to the stack and the water was leaking and displaying on the ceiling on the first floor.

We placed the service call and within one hour the service technician arrived at my house. He was very friendly and courteous. He began by asking me a few questions, thoroughly listening to my answers, and then set out to begin determining the problem. During the process, he explained what he was looking for and then explained in detail what needed to be done to correct the problem. He was very clear on the exact costs for the repair. Throughout the entire service call, he spoke to me professionally and explained things to me so I had a better understanding of the overall operation of an A/C unit, and I appreciated learning more about it. He was very patient as I asked questions. The problem was fixed for a very reasonable price. Overall, I was impressed by the fast response time, the friendly, professional and knowledgeable service technician, and the reasonable repair cost. I will not hesitate to recommend them to all of my friends and neighbors. They are the best and it was very evident from the moment I called them.

My husband was out of town on business and I was at home with my 3 daughters. Our upstairs AC broke where my girls sleep. When we got up the next day, the girls were stifling and I needed to find someone to come and fix the problem. Knowing nothing about HVAC and having no other resources, I phoned a few friends who referred me to Casteel. When I called their main line Stephanie, the customer service representative, was warm and responsive to my dilemma. She asked me the appropriate questions and assured me that Casteel would be able to fix my problem. We set up a time that afternoon and Jason, the technician arrived on time. I was impressed with his punctuality and professionalism. The technician even put little booties over his shoes to keep my floors clean. He was able to locate the problem which was a minor repair and then went through the units and gave me a list of recommendations for our system. I am not technically inclined with these types of scenarios and it was very refreshing that the technician explained everything to me in a way that I could comprehend. His recommendations were great and I even added a UV light to my system that kills viruses and bacteria in the air. Having small children who can pick up all sorts of different viruses, this was a must! After the technician left, the office emailed me all the necessary documents and a survey. I gave them high remarks across the board and felt that it was even necessary to go further and recommend them to this forum. I was absolutely pleased with their customer service. Being a customer service manager, I appreciate and applaud those who make their customers feel like a person and make the extra efforts! So, what did the husband say when he came home? He looked over what was done and what I added to our system and gave me a thumbs up! If he agrees with their recommendations then the job was done well. Funny story, over the holiday weekend we were driving and the Casteel radio ad came on. My oldest daughter loved the jingle, remembered that they were at our home and said "Casteel really ROCKS mom!" No pun intended.

After the initial visit, something expensive was being replaced. The last visit's recommendation was to replace both my A/C units. I was told incorrectly that by law they could not recharge my A/C unit with freon unless something was repaired. According to the EPA, that's not true. My conclusion is that since Casteel advertises free freon, they want to be paid for something more expensive than freon in order for the customer to get the freon. The techs left without getting an order for 2 new A/C units and without charging my A/C units with freon. I decided to replace one unit with a brand that Casteel wasn't pushing and had the other A/C unit charged with freon.....without any repairs. This experience makes be skeptical of Casteel's freon policy.

I have used Casteel for three years now. The ladies that answer the phone are always friendly and helpful. Donald, the service tech, is very knowledgeable and is glad to answer any questions I have about my HVAC system. Although my ac unit is very old, Donald never pressures me to replace it but, keeps me informed of any changes in its condition. When Donald was here in the spring, I had him install a UV Photomax because of my wife's allergies. Well, she made it through the spring without a doctor's visit. I'll let you know how she does in the fall when the ragweed is in full bloom.

Great experience. I purchased a maintenance agreement in the fall. This was the second part of the maintenance to check my air conditioners. They called to remind me of my appointment the day before and called me when the technician was on the way. The technician was very polite and explained what he was going to do. He even told me about new technology that is available and suggested a UV light to help our family with our allergies. I am definitely recommending them to all my friends!

All went well, though I thought that the price charge for the parts were a bit high. Especially the capacitor, after going on-line and learning that it could be had for a tenth of what I was charged was an eye opener. In all honesty at this moment I do not remember the name of the technician who did the work, though I found him to be quite competent and knowledgeable of his craft. That much I expected and got. Thanks!
Description of Work: Technician inspected the unit and found that it was operating in good order. He recommended that with more than three years of service we could benefit of two addition. One was a emergency cut-off switch would be placed in bottom of the overflow pan as a safe guard again any leaks. The other was changing the original capacitor which showed signs of losing it effiency to maintain the designed resistance in the circuit.

The person handled the service was courteous. He explained to me how he was going to check the leaks, and he talked me through the process. After checking, he found out that there was no leak in the heating/cooling, and he suggested me to call a plumber instead.

I appreciate that they called 30-45 min before his arrival. Don used disposable shoe covers, was polite, friendly, & professional. Explained the musty "dirty socks" smell that happens sometimes when the unit is used for the 1st time of the season & what to do to correct it if it doesn't go away. I would like to know if I am getting the Senior rate for the yearly contract or if that is only for repairs???

Very poor. Had to leave work for the appt and waited 50 minutes. The phone ad says that with the Spring Tune-up you do not pay for freon. Also, the song you hear while on telephone hold says "you won't pay for freon". I was told I had to pay for freon because there was a leak - I complained and then they told me it would be free, but that I had to sign multiple forms. It is my understanding that AC systems do not need freon unless there is a leak. Very disappointed with this company. Last year they told me no such thing. Left multiple communications for them to call me back while technician was here - no call back received - I had to call them back. They will take great care of you ! Ha! 2 hours of my life........

We were looking for a new HVAC service provider to do annual maintenance on our two systems. We chose Casteel for several reasons, but a key reason was because Bob Casteel always says he will "take amazing care of you". Unfortunately that wasn't our experience. We set an appointment with them a couple weeks ago for today, between 1pm and 6pm. About 3:30pm they called and said the tech was in his vehicle and on his way, he would arrive in 20 min. An hour went by and my wife finally called them to see where he was, she was told that he got hung up on the previous job and would now be at our house in 30 min (not possible in ATL traffic). My wife asked why no one called her to let us know he was going to be late and they had no real response other than to apologize. I called to discuss the situation with them and explain that I didn't want to commit to an annual agreement with them if this was common practice. They did apologize repeatedly and the only alternative they offered was for the tech to only perform the A/C maintenance on this trip and then we could decide if we wanted them to come back for the heating maintenance. The issue with this solution was that the annual maintenance was a better deal than the separate visits and they offered no discount for me to accept this solution. So basically, it would cost me $100 more because they couldn't "take amazing care of me" and show up on time or call to let us know they couldn't show up on time (not too much to ask). They didn't seem to be bothered by the fact that they would lose us as a customer and I told them a review would follow on several sites, which didn't seem to bother them either. I guess they have enough business that they don't feel the need to really "take amazing care of you". Proves you can promise anything and not deliver, I just don't know how you can stay in business that way. Oh well, there are many other HVAC companies out there, someone will want our business and positive reviews. *** Update - I am not sure if this review had anything to do with it or not, but Casteel did reach out to us and commit to making the situation right. They are scheduled again to come out and perform the service, we will see how that goes. *** Update -They did meet their commitment for this appointment and for the inconvenience, they provided the PM service at no charge on both of our units. This is definitely a good faith gesture and they are supposed to be back out towards the end of the year to do the winter PM, I will see how that visit goes. I just wish it would have been handled correctly in the first place. Anyway, the tech arrived exactly on time, he seemed very knowledgeable and professional. The only service he recommended as a chemical coil cleaning, which we approved for $84 per unit. I don?t know if that was a fair price or not as I haven?t had that service performed previously. There was a pro and a con to that service though. The pro is that it killed all the weeds around the units, the con was that it also killed some of the grass outside the fence of the units. Not a huge deal as the units are on the side of the house where they are not seen, but something to keep in mind for others. Thank you Casteel for doing the right thing and owning up to the mistakes that were made, very admirable.

We hired Casteel Heating & Cooling to repair our heating system. After our initial repair our system stopped working within days. We called them to come back and they misdiagnosed the problem and insisted we pay them another service fee. (The serviceman was very rude about it.) They recommended that we replace a part for approximately $600.00. We were so mad about them charging us another fee when they didn't fix the problem in the first place that we chose not to use them for the repair. My husband fixed the problem himself and we never did get the part replaced. Our heating system has been working fine for several years now without the part replacement. Casteel Heating & Cooling did a terrible job and we would not recommend them to anyone.

The tech told me if I was not willing to spend money they could not guarantee the system or their work. I am NOT happy with this particular tech and hope that he is the exception and not the rule. Stay tuned for an update after I speak to someone in the main office.
Description of Work: I have not contacted Casteel about the issue yet, but have been paying them 218 a year since the summer of 2010. I was told on the last service date that cleaning/flushing the drain pipes has NEVER been done. Also that the coil was completely rusted and that I needed to replace the upstairs system. A cost of approximately $2800 and until this date had NOT been told anything like that. I will contact another company to come and perform an inspection and then an estimate of what needs to be done. Right now, either Casteel has lied about what they have done and found OR they are lying now. Either way, I will be changing to another more reputible and reliable company. I was told I would "never" be charged for freon and now I am told that is one time only.

I believe that they are honest. They don’t try to sell things that don’t need to be repaired or replaced. They let you know up front if there may be a problem with your unit so that you have a heads up if a particular part could go out in the near future. They will replace or repair work that has an active warranty on it at no cost to you.

these Guys are good they know what they're doing. I have a slow leak about every 2 years I'm adding refrigerant. he told me I'm going to need to replace blah blah blah. but until then you can add some refrigerant. I've called other companies and they've sent guys over and they've tried to sell me or tell that you need to replace blah blah blah and you really shouldn't be adding refrigerant. I'm not an A/C engineer but I've asked around and most have said it will eventually need to be replaced but if you know what you're doing you can get away with just adding the needed refrigerant. So that my point is these guys know what they're doing! they gave me ALL the options and I made the choice. they where not there to make a quick buck off me. So when I'm ready to replace Blah Blah Blah I'll use them!
