After Jonathon arrived, it turns out I didn't have an issue with the downstairs unit. After that was determined my maintenance was done which resulted in a replaced capacitor, everything was explained, no issues at all. Good communication overall, excellent service.

See above. I was happy that the dehumidifier is running the way it is supposed to. I assume this will be a very comfortable summer.
Description of Work: I have had trouble with a dehumidifier I had installed about 20 months ago. Casteel installed it, it unbeknownst to anyone, there was a problem in the installation. It Casteel stood behind the work, repaired the install, took care of the immediate problem, which was a drip pan that had collapsed, and otherwise did an excellent job. I certainly did not call without the expectation that I would at least pay for a service call, but they did not charge me at despite having to come back a second time to complete the repair but this was an over-the-top performance. I will use them again for things other than just HVAC maintenance.

Our technician Tim was extremely friendly and professional. He did an outstanding job explaining everything in great detail and in a manner very easy to understand. He repaired our heat pump and had it up an running again quickly.

Technical called on route and called when problem was diagnosed. I said to go ahead with repair, he needed a credit card on file. I gave him my personal credit card and told him it was just to hold the job and we'd pay by check. He said no problem and then a bit later I got an alert from my credit card company that my card had been charged $333 by Casteel. After expressing my frustration in a survey, Rick left me a voicemail that stated he listened to the call and that everything was explained to me properly, then he apologized that I didn't understand, and said he'd love to keep my business. HA! Charge my card without authorization, then say I was too dumb to understand the explanation, and then ask for my business? Yeah, no thanks. There are plenty of other companies that I can call:)
Description of Work: I am a property manager and I called Casteel to go to one of our residential properties to fix a leaky shower head.

I discovered I had a leak somewhere in my exterior water line, and after using Angie's List to review prospective vendors, I made arrangements for Casteel to come to my house to identify the leak location and discuss possible repairs. One of the primary reasons I selected Casteel was their representative on the telephone told me they had leak detection equipment that could find the leak without having to dig up the entire pipeline. However, when the actual service representative came out, he informed me that Casteel did NOT have such equipment and told me the dispatcher was "probably new" and didn't know that. For several reasons--I was trying to take care of the problem before leaving town for an extended period; the pipe was more than 20 years old; and, not least, Casteel had a good rating on Angie's List--I decided to proceed with replacing the entire line. Another factor in my decision was the warranty I was told the pipe had: the Casteel service rep told me REPEATEDLY that the pipe was warranted for 80 years. (The labor was covered only for 1 year.) I also was told that upon completion of the work, I would be provided with a hardcopy of both warranties. The work was completed within the timeframe promised. However, upon tendering payment, I was told I would be sent my warranty information ELECTRONICALLY later that day. By the following day, I still had not received this information so I called Casteel to request it. The representative with whom I spoke had to place me on hold to check on the status of my warranty requests. When she returned to the line, she recapped what my warranties would say, that I was receiving a 1-year warranty on labor and a 25-year warranty on the materials. I told her that was incorrect and that I had purchased pipe with an 80-year warranty. She again placed me on hold and when she returned, she restated that my pipe was covered for only 25 years. I told her that was not acceptable and that I would be following up on this with management. Casteel had sent me an email ostensibly from owner John Hillis asking me to provide comment on my experience, so I decided to contact him, or at least to try. I called back the next day and requested to speak with Mr. Hillis, only to be told he was out of the office and no one knew when he would be returning. I ended up speaking with the plumbing manager instead. While he was very polite, he, too, said my pipe was warranted for only 25 years and that he knew of no pipe with an 80-year warranty. When I told him his employee had cited the 80-year figure repeatedly, he apologized but offered no remedy. I told him that because his employees had lied to me about two matters related to the work they had done, I was concerned that I also might have been misled about the manner in which the pipe was installed. I had been told that I had no seams in the pipe laid, which would reduce the likelihood of future leaks. I told the manager that I now had reason to doubt this because of the lack of veracity in the other matters. He asked about the length of pipe installed and told me that based on that he was fairly certain that was accurate. I'm sure anyone can understand why I did NOT feel reassured by that comment. He offered to extend the labor warranty for an additional year, but this was after he'd already told me that any labor-related problems usually presented within the first couple of months after such work was done. I felt his offer had neither merit nor worth. While the work was being done, I had discussed with the service rep the possibility of replacing my water heater in the near future because of its age. I told the manager this and also that, in the light of subsequent events, I would not be using Casteel again. He offered to reduce the price on such a purchase by a couple of hundred dollars. I told him that was kind of him, but that it did not address the full extent of my discontent. I accept that I made several mistakes in my dealings with this company (live and learn). First, I should have sent the service rep on his way when he told me the company did not have the leak detection equipment. Second, I should have gotten the warranty information in writing BEFORE work began. While everyone I dealt with was very polite, I cannot in good faith recommend you employ this company UNLESS you get everything in writing up front. And, by the way, I still have not received a warranty for the labor performed or an itemized statement detailing the cost of materials and labor. I would also say this: imagine that you purchased anything--a car, an appliance--and were told it had a 5-year warranty on parts, only to be told subsequently it was warrantied for only 30% of that period. This is basically what I was told by Casteel. And, I'm still waiting to hear from Mr. Hillis----

Lamar was great! He was prompt, professional, and went the extra steps to help me understand the problem with our electrical outage. He showed me exactly what was wrong and why, provided guidance in how to explain the problem to Cobb EMC (they needed to come out to ultimately fix the problem), and gave me follow-up advise for some small items that should be replaced after the initial problem is resolved. I will definitely be calling Casteel again for my future electrical needs. And, because of this may also look to call Casteel for our A/C, Heat, and Plumbling future needs.

I told Casteeles about it and they responded immediately and sent two men who corrected the bad vents. This is like it should have been to start with. I am believe they have corrected this situation so that it will not happen again.
Description of Work: Fix my HVAC vents. The installation done by Casteeles was excellent except one area. The man who installed my vents did a very poor job. Vents were overtightened and bent, screws were not seated properly, and gaps were seen on almost every vent.

We were very pleased. The problem was coming from the water heater which we had replaced.
Description of Work: Repair of shower in guest bath that over time 2 other plumbing companies were unable to permanently repair. Kevin the plumber from Casteel was able to diagnose the problem and repair it. After two failed attempts by other plumbing companies I wasn't sure who to call. I spoke to Marietta Tree Service who I have used for years and Theresa highly recommended Casteel. She was right. We are very pleased with Casteel

My husband normally deals with that stuff. If they would have come out in the Spring, they would have checked the heaters and made sure that they all ready to go for Winter. We have used them forever. They seemed fair to me.

Technician (Michael) arrived on time. Had a very professional appearance and demeanor. He explained what he would do and set to work. Completed the inspection quickly and made recommendations--new filter, surge protector-which I accepted. Did this promptly and presented a detailed bill, which I approved and charged to my credit card via his tablet computer. Casteel is a very good company, but rather expensive. Probably worth it considering the quality of their work.

The electrician came to the house, dressed very professionally. Being a woman, it can be intimidating to have some guy come to your house. The electrician, Cagney (I think that was his name), was fantastic. Answered all my questions and got the work done in a timely manner. He updated me throughout the process.

My water heater decided to die on a Sunday morning at 6:30am...I called Casteel as I had heard of their good reputation from some friends who had used them. Jim was dispatched and replaced my old dead water heater quickly - he was knowledgeable, experienced, friendly and answered all my questions. He also gave me important information about how my old water heater and the new one differed (my old one was 16 yrs old!). Ive had a slow drip for about a year in my shower. Recently it started to get worse, almost where it wouldnt be considered a drip but a stream. So I called Casteel and had Jim out. Jim called me and let me know that he was on the way to my house. He arrived on time in his casteel van. He looked at the shower and knew what the problem was. While he was working I had to leave to go to a doctors appointment and felt completely comfortable leaving him in my home to finish up. When he finished he texted me and let me know that he was done and that there was not a drip anymore. When I returned home I noticed that he did not leave a mess and had left it better that he found it. A+++ company in my opinion!
