Technician arrived on time, explained what he would be doing, did the installation, and cleaned up everything. He then reviewed everything he had done and went over proper operation of the new equipment.

Casteel Charged $809 for a service call in August of 2019 which of 5 x $144= $720 was for 4.2 pounds of R410 Refrigerant (they round up to the nearest pound when charging for refrigerant). The service man right away wanted to sell me a whole new system for about $5600 rather than fix the refrigerant leak at the evaporator coil . A new evaporator coil would be $2400. Although he didn't find the leak, he was correct that the coil was shot. The "come on" was that they'd wave the refrigerant fee for the refrigerant they already put in to my leaking system if I purchased a new system. My system (it's not so hard to stop a Trane) was 13 years old and purchased from Casteel. Instead, I paid $1500 to an independent serviceman replace the refrigerant coil and, at my request, he bought me an extra $25 pounds of refrigerant for $99. I told Casteel that something was wrong with charging $144 for refrigerant when it cost $4 per pound at a supply store. They disagreed and said they charged the market rate, but eventually reduced my service call bill to $250--the number I thought was fair.

Sean responded quickly, assessed our needs, found them dangerous and stayed while the city came to help with the meter. To obtain the city permit, he needed to fix the issue, and then bring entire older house up to code. He began work immediately and turned it all around very quickly. I am grateful for his help and attentiveness.

Sean Stemper did a wonderful job explaining everything and answering all of my questions. He was prompt, polite and professional. I will definitely use Casteel with any future electrical, plumbing, HVAC or water heater issues I may have. Also, the person that handled my initial call did a wonderful job, she was even able to escalate my issue because there were sparks coming from my panel. So instead of waiting 2 days, she had someone come out the same day I called! Awesome!!

One unit passed all tests. A smaller unit servicing the 2nd floor apparently had a slow freon leak. Tech unable to pinpoint source of the leak and offered alternatives. I chose to have the freon recharged and have checked. Excellent, professional service!

Excellent experience. I have a maintenance agreement and this was the 6 month checkup. The technician was very knowledgeable and took the time to teach me about the filters and thermostats. Very skilled and professional. This was my second appointment under the maintenance agreement and I am very happy with this company.
