Casteel Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical

At first I thought it was going to be a quick service to clean and check the A/C system for the cooling season. However, the service man was taking a longer than usual to complete the job. I asked if I should make out the check and he said no, like he was still looking to find something wrong to charge more for this visit. Sure enough he says the motor fan is broken and it will cost $491 just for labor. We replaced the same motor fan the winter of 2018. Seemed like something was causing the fan to blow out. I ended up calling another competitor to get an second opinion. To make a long story short I ended up paying $250 to replace the motor fan. I decided not to call Casteel back for any more maintenance on the HVAC no matter how much they discount the service.

Jason and his crew arrived at the set time and performed all work in a timely fashion. Homeowner was asked questions in order to find outlets, breakers (so that techs didn't wander around the house), homeowner was shown why certain procedures were being performed, and was asked permission first before any changes from contract. Jason took time to explain the unit to the homeowner and to explain how the thermostat works. He was excellent! Highly recommend Casteel.

We called Casteel because it was taking several minutes (i.e., 10 or more) for hot water to be delivered to sinks at the opposite end of the house from the water heater. In addition, we were running out of hot water with only two people using it concurrently. Everyone that we dealt with at Casteel--from scheduling the appointment through completion of the work and scheduling the inspection of the completed work--was very professional and courteous. Jamie Padgett was the technician who came to our home. He let us know when he was on his way to our home, and arrived early within the window of time we were given. We explained the issue that we wanted to solve, and he gave us some options and his recommendation. We decided to take his recommendation, which was to go with a new 50-gallon water heater and a recirculating pump. He performed all of the work that day. He was respectful of our home, was very patient and and knowledgeable in his responses to our questions, and he did a great job with the installation of the new equipment and cleaning up the area when he was finished. Casteel arranged with Cherokee County to inspect the installation afterwards, and the inspector confirmed what a great job Jamie did. We will definitely use Casteel again for any plumbing or HVAC issues that we may have.

Blower motor was slightly out of balance. Simple harmonic vibration. Technician came to perform the tune-up on both units. He broke the cooling fan off on the motor and claimed that's what was making the humming. Then turned unit back on to demonstrate, and I laughed explaining there's a slight difference between a balance hum and a rattling clatter of plastic pieces banging against the housing. This is not the first time I have caught Casteel in the act of damaging parts to upsell service. But last time I caught them in the act before it was mandatory to repair. This time the entire blower unit will need to be replaced. My mistake... fool me once...

Casteel installed my new Furnace and AC over 2 years ago, and I had a question about the air return. When you take a new furnace and connect it to the existing air return in the wall, sometimes or all the time they are not a great match. I had a question about it and ended talking to Michael the service manager. He decided to send out Chuck because of his experience. Chuck started by checking the circuit board inside the furnace to make sure that all of the settings were correct. Then Chuck suggested a high volume air return grill for inside the house. Several weeks later Bobby Lee came out with the grill. Now with the grill off Bobby could see how the installers had to make the transition from my old wall to the new furnace. Bobby suggested changing the duct work to better fit the new furnace. I talked to Michael again and he had a meeting with Chuck and Bobby and they came up with a plan to make the air flow better. Chuck and Jeremy showed up with sheet metal and insulation. They took apart the air return completely, and made everything new. They were here for several hours. It looked like it was done the best possible, and it was. For my job I did Kitchen & Bath Cabinet service for the last 23 years, and when I went into my customers house I fixed their cabinets like it was my Moms house. That is how Chuck and Jeremy worked. When you call Casteel the operator says that they want to take Amazing care of you, and they do.

Casteel has outstanding employees and the four that showed up at my home did not disappoint. Careful, considerate, efficient, and respectful of myself, my home AND my cats. I have been using Casteel for well over 10 years. This is a stellar company.

Bruno arrived on time, made sure to put on shoe covers prior to entering my home, and got right to work. After brief introduction, synopsis of work he expected to perform, and asking about any issues I might be experiencing or question I had, he made an adjustment to my thermostat and went to the basement to perform the preventive maintenance. He took less than half an hour, gave me a brief summary of his findings, asked if I had any questions, and was on his way to his next call. Bruno communicates professionally and was also gregarious and a pleasure to talk to.

This is the first time a technician has explained and showed how every part in the heating system works in conjunction with other parts. I am confident that I received the best service I have eer had from a heating technician. I highly recommend Casteel to any homeowner who would like a company they can trust.
