Afford A Tree

The guys at Apex trimmed two trees in front yard and two old growth pines in back yard. Removed four junipers. Also raised canopy on my sweetgum and removed approximatly 12ft from top of pear tree and reshaped it. Entire experience was great and timely from quote to competition. I saw some of the crew stop what they were doing to fix some flowers that had been disturbed. That to me was AWESOME. The yard looked better than when they arrived. I will definitely do future business with them.

Didn't call me, didn't return my calls. Emailed me to say they weren't able to honor their big deal commitment.

Got a quote for smaller job, but Apex did not want to do the work for under $500. Added a leaning tree to request and went to $900. Way higher than any other service we've had come out.

Provider came out saw the tree that I needed removed and stated that he couldnot do it at the coupon price. He stated that Angie's list had made a mistake in the advertising. He offered to remove the tree for an additional $200.00. I declined this offer.

I initially contacted Apex because of "The Big Deal" coupon. He came to the house and explained that the coupon was not meant to extend to all areas because they must have a minimum of $500 in order to come so far. I did understand, he was polite, so I canceled my Big Deal coupon and hired them without using a coupon. Work was performed a few days after the estimate. Brandon called me a 30 minutes before arrival to confirm my decision on one of the trees. I was really surprised when he arrived with several vehicles, a giant chipper and at least 10 workers. (No wonder they have to have a minimum amount to roll their trucks!!) Everyone was very skilled, polite and all debris was removed; they even skimmed stuff out of the pool. Overall, we were very happy with our experience and would recommend them.

They informed that Angie's List mistakenly added dump grinding service when told not to. That their minimum service charge was $500.00. Very disappointing!

Terrible service. No follow up.

They did exactly what they said...

He told me that I did not have $400 worth of work to be done, he recommended that I get my money back.

Removed 3 large birch trees. When the sod people came (separate vendor) they told us that the stumps werent ground well. I called apex and they came right out and fixed the stumps.

After not hearing from him I contacted him again and he said they expected to get caught up soon. A later follow up produced a comment that I could get a refund from Angies List if I requested it. One more time I tried to get a committment and received no response.

Failed to show up on three different "promised" occasions.

Working with Brandon Morris and Apex was great. When I first called to get an estimate on the work, Brandon responded promptly. He quoted me a very fair price and followed up soon afterward. When I finally got back to him to schedule the service, he was able to come to my house within a week. He arrived promptly on the day of the work and was there for the duration. Brandon's crew was fast, efficient, and professional; the work was done before noon. His log truck picked up the stacked tree trunks the same day, and the stump grinder came the next day, just as Brandon promised. I will definitely be using Apex for our future tree-removal needs.

It was very hard to pin them down on when they'd return to actually remove the tree (after the estimate). Once I made it clear that I would go elsewhere if they did not have somebody over within the week, they had someone over quickly. Quality of work was solid

Their services worked out very good for me. They were excellent. He did quite a bit. I liked that when I called, they gave me a time estimate. They were right here on time. They got the job done. I was really impressed with their cleanup. They left the place even almost better than when they came. My interactions with them were excellent. The gentleman, that came out and looked at originally, was there to supervise. I came over and watched for awhile. I talked with him and everything. It went smoothly. They were very flexible. I would use them again in a heartbeat. The price very fair and competitive.

The work was good, although some details not perfectly as pictured in my head. They worked to make each right given the nature of the plants they were trimming. I did have to call to remind them to schedule a firm date and they did not get back to me proactively (maybe I just called to soon) to fix a time. Once their schedule slipped at another job they did give me advance notice though.

Brandon came on Saturday for an estimate, the crew was at my house on Monday morning and cut down all the trees, placed plywood on the ground on which they then stacked the logs for pickup, and cleaned everything up in just a few hours (4 or 5). The logs were picked up Tuesday morning, then a young man came later Tuesday to grind the stumps and made quick work of that. The trees in the back yard were very tall and when two came down they did some lawn damage. The fellows did a great job of repairing the damage from one, but the other crew didn't even attempt to fix the other or the tracks from the front loader. Grinding of the stumps left huge piles of mulch and I was surprised that none of it was removed as it had been by the last company who removed trees for me. It's 3/27 now and they still haven't come to pick up the plywood. All in all I fairly satisfied with the job, I just wish the plywood wasn't still laying in the ivy bed.

They did a good job, they showed up on time and they have a good price. I did pay a little bit more about $650 more. It was twice the cost of Angie’s List. I still think it was a fair price. That was pretty fair for a tree prune at that size. It was good. They did say in their quote that they would take care of all the branches all the way to the top, they did do that, and they did the job. They used a pretty large group guys, they were able to do them very quickly.

It went really well. It looks like the trees were never there to begin with.

It turned out great. They did a good work and cleaned up. They just did a really good job and I found them pleasant to work with. They were all the right things. They left the yard nice and clean. I found them to be very good to work with. They were conscientious. I think that their price was fair based on what other people have told me that they paid other people.

They were great. I was not there when they did the work, but two arborist came out to do the work. They gave me an estimate for some other things that I wanted done outside of the deal. We will be using them for those services, because they had reasonable prices.

The total price was $800.00, but an Angie's List Big Deal took $200.00 off the price making the total cost $600.00. The work that was done was for two medium sized river birches. Apex was very prompt in scheduling the estimate meeting, and I had my estimate meeting the same week I purchased the big deal. While I was at work the tree service company showed up at my house to finish the work. I had no idea that they were going to show up that day. I was under the impression that Apex was going to contact me with a date and time for the work to be completed once they scheduled it. You can imagine my wife's surprise when a large group of men suddenly showed up in our front yard. They told her who they were, and started working. They did exactly what the description of work said on the invoice. When they were finished, the man in charge told my wife that she owed them $400.00. My wife hesitated and the man gave her an envelope and told her to mail them a check. As he walked away, he said "I hope you like the work." To fill in some details, all my wife knew was that I had arranged for a tree service to be preformed. She did not know what was to be done and how much was owed. She tried to reach me at work, but I was not able to call her until after the Apex workers left. I will take responsibility for not properly communicating with my wife on this matter. I also feel that the person in charge should have probably shown my wife what work was done and asked her if she was satisfied with it- not give her a bill and walk away. I also feel like not all the work that was supposed to be done was done. I thought I had discussed during the estimate having the tops of the trees thinned out, and all the branches hanging over my neighbor's property be removed. But this is my fault in not making sure this was spelled out in detail on the invoice- lesson learned. I did not further contact the company on this matter because they met the exact scope of work, and they will be paid what was agreed on. I would not use Apex Tree Service Inc. ever again based on their extremely poor customer service. The actual work was fine.

Everything turned out great. They were excellent. The owner came out to supervise and he was very professional. He seemed to know what he was doing and he was very friendly and honest with me about the extra fees. There were 10 people here doing the work and they were fast! They were here 3 or 4 hours to complete the job.

I set up an appointment with the contractor to give me an estimate of the service I needed. I was floored by the estimate provided by Mr. Brandon Morris. I requested an estimate to cut down a tree that with a 14 inch diameter and another one with an 6 inch diameter. Also I added cutting off the lower branches of 2 trees to allow more sunlight to my backyard. Initially he quoted me $1,200 which already took into account the discount from Angie's List. When I complained that it was too high, he said he would lower it to $600. It was still too high for me because I got a lower quotation from another contractor which did not even have Angie's List deal. In summary, I didn't find the price from this contractor to be a deal after all.

The initial contact was great, the work was good.
