The contractor came with a total of 3 men, worked 3 hours and ran wire the entire perimeter of my house to set up for the motion detectors. The work was excellent, the workers were professional, they cleaned up after themselves and even offered to vacuum if I felt it necessary, which I didn't. I think their price was very reasonable. I found them to be very professional, whenever a snag would arise, they would work out a solution and present it to me with the resolution. The resolution was perfect and professional in itself. My chandelier and fans look wonderful. I have a few mor lighting fixtures on order and will definitely be using them in the future. Actually I have found an electrician for all my electrical needs going forward. Thanks Angie's List
Description of Work: 2 ceiling fans installed; 1 chandelier installed; Install 3 Boxes at 3 ends of the house wire to an existing switch, then instal 4 motion flood lights.

The ceiling lights in my kitchen and in my carport quit working on Thanksgiving night. I called John Friday afternoon to come out to fix the problem. He quoted me a $95 service call; he was here withing 30 minutes (we both live in Lilburn.) After checking out the electrical panel and light switches (45 minutes), he determined that he would need his helper for attic work. He also stated that if the problem could not be located, I would not be charged. We made an appointment for Monday a.m. About a 45 mins. later he called to say that he was thinking today was Saturday and had forgotten that it was Friday (after T'giving) and that he could come out on Saturday a.m. instead! He and two helpers showed up Saturday morning. They determined that all was fine in the attic and discovered that an extra outlet my husband had left in behind the dryer after some remodeling he had done 20 years ago was the culprit. They closed that off and replaced a dimmer switch over my sink because it was old and "goosey" and replaced two florescent bulbs in the laundry room (because John noticed the cover was on crooked he asked if I had trouble trying to get the old bulbs out!!!) The job on Saturday took 1 1/4 hrs. I really appreciated the extra effort in taking care of me. I am a widow and it's so nice when someone helps me out rather than taking advantage. I will definitely use John again and recommend him to my friends! He charged me $200 for the work and it was worth every cent.
Description of Work: Took out unusable/unnecessary outlet in laundry room that caused kitchen light circuit to cut out. Replaced dimmer switch and two florescent bulbs.

Browning provided a free quote for each job. They arrived the day they scheduled to do the job and completed it within one day. We're very happy with this contractor and will use him again and again. We gave him three different types of jobs, and he came back with reasonable evaluations of each individual house.
Description of Work: In order to get electricity turned on in a house we bought as a foreclosure, Browning finished the partial upgrade that was started. They replaced the meter with a meter-combo with a disconnect. They needed to bring the home up to code with a new grounding system, electrical panel, GFI receptacles, set disconnect and whip for AC, and smoke detectors. An electrical permit was required. This is actually the second job Browning did for us. About two weeks prior to this job, he inspected another home we bought as a foreclosure that needed an inspection and permit to have power turned on. That job was only $375 since the house only needed an inspection and permit with the county. He showed up the same day we called him to perform our first job, which was very important on that house. We were so happy with his price and performance on the first house, we had him do the major work on our second newly acquired foreclosed house. Once he was done with the second house, we asked him to check our third house (which already had the electric turned on). He checked it out and told us that house was fine as is.

It was a very good experience. It took 2 and a half days. I was especially pleased that they were able to fix the brickwork outside after replacing the outside meter box with a larger one. John is very cognizant of customer service, and his two workers are also. They answered all my questions and worked steadily, doing exactly what I requested.

John arrived exactly on time, took one look and stated he could not do the job because he was not given the details. He didn't have a ladder that would reach a 12 foot ceiling?!!? This was very unsatisfactory and dishonest as I had reviewed these items IN DEPTH with him before scheduling. Not to mention that I was setting up services for the CEO of my company who heard me telling him the specs and discussing the scope of work necessary.
Description of Work: Set up an appointment to get a chandelier hung. Reviewed specifications in detail of what would be needed over the phone when setting up appointment. Including ceiling ht, fixture wt, length of hang, existing electrical specs and need for strapping to support additional weight. I knew EXACTLY what I needed from a technician.

Response from Browning Electrical Service
Browning Electrical Services takes offense to this customer calling the company member dishonest. This was a free estimate, not an appointment to do work. This customer was not told all of the specifications by her CEO (who was the actual customer). We were not told about the hundreds of pieces of crystal already pre-assembled in chandelier. Our estimate had to be adjusted to completely disassemble the fixture in question. This job required more detail than originally stated in the phone interview, and the customer chose not to accept the revised estimate and no work was performed at this job site. This review of Browning Electrical Services is in no way connected to the quality of work that we do as a company.

Mr. Browning went out of his way to provide excellent service. We sent him all the issues that our Home Inspector had found before my sister closed on the home & he was able to give us a rough estimate of the cost to do the repairs. The sellers then came down on their price because they did not want to make the repairs before closing. Mr Browning, Mark & assistant came out early on a Sunday morning & spent the entire day to upgrade the electrical wiring in the home so that my Sister & Mom could move in safetly the next day without worry; even installing & adjusting the outside motion detectors. They went over all the upgrades with us & left us assured that the home was safe & we could contact them at any time with questions. We highly recommend them to anyone needed electrical work - I am going to post their information at work & let friends know of their excellent service.

Mr. John Browning and his helper was very nice and knowledgable. They arrived @ 8:25am I was expecting them @ 9:00am so that was great. John stated that work was a little more difficult than expected but did not change the price. Basically they are finished with all of the wiring, outlet and switch boxes. We are adding a new room to our house. They will come back and finish once sheet rock and painting are done. Great experience so far have already recommended them to others.

All together, it was a big job with some decent level of complexity (i.e. swimming pool issues), and despite a couple small hiccups that required them to come back and fix something, everything turned out great in the end, and they were good to work with. They were also good about making reasonable adjustments to the price on the fly as I made small changes to my job request as things moved forward. Would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: They ran all the electrical out to the back of our house via conduit for our pool project including shut-off breakers, pool wall & equipment bonding, low-voltage pool light w/transformer, pool heater ignition, 3/4 HP pool pump, outdoor lighting, pump controller w/freeze protection etc. They also took care of a three way switch issue we were having.

I called Browning Electric to come out and repair an underground cable that provided power to my detached garage. They arrived the next day, gave me an estimate and immediately began work (with my OK). They excavated a new trench, upgraded the cable to conduit so it wouldn't get broken again, installed a new subpanel in the garage and cleaned up after they were finished. They were prompt, fast and I considered the price fair.

We had called another company before Browning to give us an estimate on fixing all the outlets that weren't working. They quoted us over $1000, so we called Browning to come out. He found a main breaker that was tripped so he reset it. All it cost us was the $100 service call fee. What an honest company!!!

They worked quickly and informed me as they moved along what problem they found and how they would fix it. They listened to what I needed done and made suggestions to other work that would be needed. The house is 34 years old and I am getting it ready to put on the market. John also removed the circuit breaker panel cover and checked the wiring. They cleaned up any mess they made. I will call him again for other work to be done prior to selling.
Description of Work: Several light switches and receptacles were not working and I needed the ceiling light in the garage changed to a receptacle to plug in the new overhead garage door opener. John Browning and Kris showed up on time for an estimate. He gave me a price and said they had everything they needed to do the job. It would take approximately 3 hours.

The replacement went great. I obtained an estimate from Mr. Browning on 8/14 while he was repairing another problem. I was pleased with the previous work, and the estimate provided for the meter box repair was more reasonable than two other estimates received so I called him on 8/18 to schedule replacement of the meter box. I requested Friday, 8/22/08, as a service date, but he was not available on that date. Because the meter box was outside, he suggested that I did not have be present and he could complete the work on Tuesday, 8/19/08. I agreed. Tuesday evening, I received a call from Mr. Browning indicating the box had been replaced. He advised me that the new box left some unpainted siding exposed and he suggested I paint it. (My house is over 20 years old, so the exact box was not available.) He left the invoice in my mailbox, as agreed. I admit, I was a little nervous about having the work done while I was away. Nightmares of returning to a home without power, with severely damaged siding, or to a meter that measured twice as much usage all crossed mind. So, his comment about the exposed siding made me worry a little. As I pulled into my driveway, my automated lights were on, dismissing my fear of having no power. It was dark by the time I made it home so I couldn't inspect the exposed siding issue until morning. The next morning my fears of damaged siding were erased when I saw what was about an inch of unpainted siding along the right side of the new meter box. It took me 5 minutes to paint it that afternoon. I noticed that all the wires and brackets were neatly and properly re-secured to my house and that my azalea bushes were as I left them. (Previous painting and siding contractors have trampled them.) My final fear was my electric bill, and I'm happy to say it arrived last week with normal usage. I remitted payment via mail, it was the exact amount estimated. I'm very pleased with the quality, value, and convenience of the service received. Browning Electric is a keeper!
Description of Work: Mr. Browning replaced the main eletric meter box on the outside of my home. My old meter box had rusted on the bottom creating a hole in which birds built a nest. Mr. Browning disconnected and removed the rusted meter box, purchased a new box, and installed it.
