First Fence of Georgia

We scheduled for installation based on First Fence's backlog- about 2 weeks as I recall. The installation crew was flexible and accommodating. They spent close to an hour with us determining final locations. For example, working around existing trees to get a single straight run of fence. We also opted for a large 10 foot gate to allow equipment to get into the back yard. We selected black vinyl fence and posts. We have been very happy as our dogs are not able to get under any of the 3 gates. Also, First Fence included additional posts where we had steep changes in grade to ensure no gaps under the fence- to keep the dogs in! Both the rep and the installation crew were punctual and professional. First Fence required about a 30% down payment to schedule an installation date.

Communication was very good. The estimate was extremely professional and exactly what I needed for my HOA. The crew showed up on time and got to work right away. They did hit my sprinkler system three times, which is a little annoying, but it's in the quote that this is a risk. I would have given them all A's if the installers carried PVC fittings and glue to repair the sprinkler system (we're talking $3 in parts and they've already got the pipes exposed at that point), but it is what it is. Overall, very happy and would use them again.

Like the other review I just read, it took a little while to get an estimate, but they are worth waiting for. I had a strangely shaped area that I wanted to fence and in addition I wanted it to match well with the existing fence. The salesman spent a great deal of time with me ensuring we had the best design. They were able to schedule the installation quicker than I actually needed. The installation crew was also great and worked even more with me on the best place to install the fence posts. I had several sprinkler heads and a couple of underground drains which I was really concerned about damaging. The crew worked carefully around them and everything is absolutely perfect. Don't let the delay in getting a quote worry you. They are great!

He came out Friday and said he would email the estimate in about 2 hours, everyone else did the estimate on sight and gave it right then. Well he did not email the estimate and I even called late Friday afternoon and left a message. He never called back but on Monday we got an estimate which wanted you to agree to do electronic business with then before you could look at it. His estimate was actually a little less than who we went with. I expect people to keep their word and if he could not send the estimate he should have called. I did not like the electronic business agreement and then they also stated that after they received a deposit they would let you know in 2 weeks when they could install. We paid a little more but did not want to do business with someone we could not count on and gave us an install date right off for 2 days later

Robert Long was detailed and pleasant to work with. Great communication. Foreman and crew were extremely professional, worked hard and consistently. Office staff was professional, responsive and a pleasure to work with as well. End product is great, getting a lot of compliments. Note to anyone installing a fence, be sure to research your local ordinances and building codes, don't rely on the fence company to have in depth knowledge of your specific area. Highly recommend selecting this company! Would use again.

Went great. They gave good estimate up front, not most expensive or least, but stayed true to the quote. Job was done in one day. On time, great work, especially the custom cutting of fence to match the tier.

Great job installing combination black chain link and privacy around the back yard perimeter. Very accommodating to last minute changes. The crew that came finished the job pretty quickly without sacrificing quality.

First Fence provided the estimate that was good for 30 days. I delayed making a decision until 90 days later, but First Fence honored the price. When I did decide to move forward with my plans, I asked them to come back and provide an estimate for some additional fencing work - which they did. The salesmen and work crew arrived on time and finished the job on schedule. The installed fence seems to be top notch. Overall the experience was very good.

Company was responsive to our request and estimate was on par with others. We had to push work date back because of other work being done in our yard first and company was great about it. When day came to install fence, the three-man crew was there at time expected and was efficient and polite. They placed fence exactly where we needed it and it looks great. No issues with it being on steep hill. Quality of construction was exactly as expected. We would recommend and use First Fence again.

The walk through was excellent - Mike was an expert in his field. The crew worked from morning to night. They got 95% of the job done in the promised time - having to stop because it got dark. The fence looks beautiful - I receive compliments from my neighbors. They worked very h****** this project.

This project went as smoothly as any work I have had done. Professional treatment and good price, even though it was a very small job for them. A representative came by right on schedule, looked over what I needed, made some very good suggestions that actually helped with cost and made things look much better when completed. A clean and detailed quote was provided. Installers came right on schedule and worked very efficiently and cleanly. I made a minor change to the fence path, and they had no problem with it. They also made suggestions when appropriate, and the job was completed well within the promised time frame and for the quoted amount. I am late posting the review, however I will say that the gate and other components are holding up just fine. I expect to use these folks when I replace the remainder (bulk) of the fence at some point in the future.

From start to finish, they were fantastic to work with. Highly professional and explained all of the options, even the ones that would save me money and presumably reduce their profit. I received cheaper estimates but didn't trust the others as much and eventually chose First Fence. Would do it again!

Price was very good. There was some delay in scheduling, I assume this was due to volume. Installation team showed up with everything they needed. Confirmed location of fence and began work promptly. Installation was fast and clean. Installation included mixed concrete for all post and overall installation was precise. Team was friendly and cleaned up well after completion.

They were a pleasure to work with through the entire process. For the estimate, and the follow up, and the day of install, they made it easy. Their quality of work and pricing far exceeded some of the other estimates we received. Everyone in the process, from the estimator, to the office schedulers, to the accounting department, to the installers, were very professional, courteous, and responsive.

They were GREAT!!!!! The gentleman who came to do the estimate was fabulous and very knowledgeable, he walked me through all my options and even encouraged me to get estimates from other companies---and he was right, they were the best choice by far! :) When it came to the install they were fast, professional, and cleaned everything up as they went. I had a problem after the winter with the one gate, and I called and someone came out and fixed the problem immediately. First Fence was fantastic and I have recommended them to everyone who has asked about our fence.

I worked with Bobbie via email to get an estimate. I sent him pictures of the fencing and the gates and gave him approximate measurements. He mailed me a quote and we scheduled the work. Two workmen arrived on the scheduled date at the scheduled time. It was a challenge to install the decorative fence, but the guys did a wonderful job. They had to install new posts in concrete to support the decorative fence since it was heavier than the original. They did the work quickly and cleaned up after themselves. The gates and fencing look great and - even though it was a challenge - the final charge matched the quote.

I would rate them high overall and they would be building it for us.

Not very well. I think the next time I will just build the fence myself. The price was OK in comparison to other companies but the aggravation the crew put us through with the job they completed and the job they almost gave us if we had not argued with them for 30 min was not worth it. The main issue was that the driveway wall was uneven so that one side was longer then the other as well as higher than the other on one side. We assumed that the team would try to build the fence straight using a level, square, et cetera but they build the fence by eye and using the wall as guidance. Our neighbor (a carpenter) watched them do the job and when they were almost done alerted us that the gate was slanting down about 20 degrees to one side and this would cause the gate to warp. I let the crew foreman in on my observation and he insisted that it was fine. I pointed out that the problem looked like it was the fact that they had made one post about 3 feet higher on one side and had hung the gate to high. So basically all they would have to do was make the post the same higher and re-hang the gate, however, to convince him to do this it took about 20 min or argument and a comparison of the height to myself standing by each post. I suggested they use a level to check if the gate was level - did not see them use a level once during the entire process. The other two members of the crew seemed to agree but the one was much more trouble. There were two other issues we notices after they left that really made us angry: 1) one side of the gate was longer than the other so now the gate, although hung level, juts out on one side further 2) the holes they dug for the fence posts had some gravel and chunks of concrete mixed in and instead of disposing of the dirt they threw it into our compost pile concrete and all without asking. I fairness i didn't tell the company anything about this mainly because I just didn't want to deal with the hassle of having them come back out. We want a section of fence on the side our house as well as well as a picket fence (we had them give a quote for this also, but would never ever have them do that) I will be doing it myself because it will be less of a hassle than having to deal with poor work. Also, the guy that did our estimate was not the same as before. It was a totally different process and feel the other guy was really nice, personable, and helpful. This new guy had to reschedule once because of traffic, then when he came out he was in a big rush because he wanted to get back and watch the big game - we were not shown examples or anything. Just seemed odd and rushed. We should have listened to our instincts then and gotten someone else to do the work.

They installed a 6 foot wooden fence around my back yard. I really appreciated them because when they came they showed up on time but I had forgotten about the appointment and they waited for me to return. I would use them again.

They were absolutely wonderful. They did a wonderful job. They sent a man out who walked the area with me and I told him what I wanted and he drew up some plans for and then after discussion with my youngest daughter, I decided that would be a little bit too much for me to take care of, so he cut back on the fence in the entire backyard, which would have been pretty deep. A smaller area was decided upon making it little easier for me to maintain on my own. They fixed the privacy fence around the backyard using screws instead of nails, which took a little bit longer and had some metal wire attached to the bottom to discourage digging from one of my dogs. I then had a retaining wall that I needed to have fenced off so children wouldn't be able to climb on it, and they did a really good job on that. I was highly satisfied with that they did. They completed the work in less than two days, which was kind of surprising. I was especially pleased with them because they understood why I wanted screws and why I wanted the metal around the bottom of the fence and did it the way I wanted them to do it. I felt like they were highly competitive and very fair. It was a magnificent job. I would definitely use them again in the future.

Mike did the estimate with ease, taking plenty of notes, transcribing plenty of my needs and other details, gave me good time frame to work in and got me an estimate in 3 days. Other transactions such as scheduling and deposit payment were a mix of emails and phone calls that went pretty smooth overall. I was able to get the day I preferred to have the work done with about 10 day's notice. Work crew showed up at appointed time ready to go. I ensured the details of the job were fully known before they dug a single hole and once instructed they went forth with the fence removal and installation with gusto. I was expecting a two-day job and was pleasantly surprised with the speed, accuracy and thoroughness of their job. They wrapped up everything by sundown, I made an inspection, found no discrepancies, and was very pleased with what I saw. My yard has literally been transformed thanks to this new fence. Wonderful job, great cleanup, friendly crew, and a fine looking fence. Only one note I would like to share. I would like to see workcrews with basic safety equipment when working with any tools. Standard equipment includes earplugs or muffs for situations above 85db, safely glasses when working with any power tools especially those that make dust or have potential projectiles, and gloves. I see the lack of this equipment as common practice along all lines of contract work be guys I've paid to work in my basement or in my trees. This stuff should be standard with any work crews. Long term goal I have is to have Angie's List include safety as a rating category.

After trying to decide between three estimates we had been given for having fencing installed on our property, we decided to call one more co., after having seen a TV spot on a local news program featuring First Fence of Ga. and ultimately chose them for the job. Taken into consideration was primarily the cost to us, but also the options presented to us, the level of knowledge of the estimator (Shane) and of course, the reputation and good consumer reviews of this company (though some of the others had received very favorable reviews, as well). They were able to schedule a time frame that was convenient for us and the first crew arrived promptly the morning of installation. The foreman for the first crew was very meticulous regarding making certain the guidelines of our HOA were being met (ie: placement of fence in relation to property boundaries, etc.) as well as what would be aesthetically appealing when completed. His crew got right to work and had all the posts in place, as well as some of the cross boards up by the day's end. This included filling the post holes with concrete before putting the posts in place, with one crew member hauling a concrete mixer all around our property, which is just over 2 acres (with the fenced area probably being about 2/3 of that). The second crew, on the following day, was equally as hardworking. It was quite a fascinating thing to watch, with there sometimes being as many as eight or so men working. These guys were "kicking ____ and taking names"! Very impressive. The third day was just a partial day, for the remainder of the welded wire to be installed. Over 915 feet of fence - completed in less than three days! Once the wood has cured, we will stain it, but it is actually quite attractive as it is now. Great job, First Fence. I think it is safe to say, I'd use them again. May even call them for a pool enclosure.

They were excellent. I spent $1955 on their services. I would definitely recommend them. They are precise with their work and they’re very clean. They use very good wood and they have awesome service. They’re on time and polite. They are English speaking employees and it’s very good. I will absolutely use them again in the future.

We have an unusual shaped back yard, so placement wasn't a snap, but David came out, I explained what we wanted, and he assisted in the placement by providing some ideas on top of mine. We came up with a great plan. David then wrote up a proposal onsite. He was very professional and easy to work with. Next, after sending in the deposit, they scheduled our work promptly. The crew was great, arrived on time, finished in one day, and did a great job. I recommend First Fence of Georgia!
