David said that our refrigerator needed Freon and if I put Freon in it would be good for a year. He only worked on the refrigerator for a minute and said it was taken care of. It did not even work for a day. I called him to let him know it is not working and I would like my money back. He said he would not do that. I spoke to Kerry Spayd and said I would receive a partial refund but I have still not received anything.

Response from All Area Appliance Service
Refrigerators have sealed systems and if a refrigerator is low on freon, there is a leak in the system and there is no way to know how big the leak is. When you charge a refrigerator with freon it could last a day, a week, a month, a year or 10 years. There is simply no way to know and as such there is no warranty given. This customer was aware there was no warranty and she still authorized the repair. When she called in we advised we could provide a partial refund and retain a minimum labor charge as clearly the services were performed and authorized and there is no warranty as explained. The customer demanded a full refund and we simply could not issue a full refund. We issued the partial refund as promised on January 5th and I cannot explain why she has said otherwise. Credit card procedures mandate that any refunds must be issued back to the credit card and cannot be issued by check. My company has not lied or misrepresented our services in any way.

The control console in my Sears Kenmore refrigerator had to be replaced ? twice, unfortunately! David, the technician, had to replace the console on 11/30/11 when he came out and it was determined that this was the problem that the refrigerator was no longer cooling. On the weekend of 12/17/11 I noticed that it was again not cooling and this time the freezer was not as cold (not a problem before). I called All Area Appliance and their offered to send David out the next day. David arrived and showed me how the unit had apparently frozen over due to a glitch in the panel which impacted both the refrigerator and freezer. He promptly unfroze it, leaving no mess, and stated that he would be back the next day with a new console panel. David always called prior to arriving to let me know his specific arrival time and I was never given a "hugh wait? window of time. He explained what happened with the unit freezing, he apologized and we understand that defects happen. There was no additional cost to us for replacing the console and everything is working perfectly. The company and "David" are completely professional and courteous. All Area Appliance Service is the type of company that puts the ?care? in customer service. We will definitely use them again.

I’ve used Angie’s List twice and I’ve had great success both times. We called them in the morning and they were out by 11 am. They actually came earlier than they had thought which was awesome. They had the problem fixed within 20 minutes and they were wonderful. We’re in the service industry and we just appreciate people who are on time, courteous and who actually follow through with their service. The technician didn’t try to rip us off and tell us we needed things. He just fixed the belt and was out of here. I thought that the price was very fair.

Called on Tuesday late afternoon and had appointment scheduled the next day. The time window for appointments was two hours which I certainly appreciated since we needed to finish laundry due to leaving town for distribution of coats and shoes to needy children. Eric came at stated time, asked me about the problem and gave me options for the needed repair of the lid switch. Within 15 minutes of starting he was finished. The experience was great from the phone call to make appointment to the finished work. Everyone was so polite and professional and I will use their services again for any future repair needs.

UPDATE 2. I challenged their alleged "repair" and won. But I had to buy a new fridge. See positive review on Sewell Appliance. UPDATE1 Unit now failed, 40 days hence, exactly where they did repair. Contacted them immediately. No response. I called in another tech who stated he wouldn?t touch their bad work - liability. Much later received a call but hung up when I stated my name. I called back. Was told would not come out to inspect their work, and 40 days latter a $486 repair was out of warranty. Freon line repair on Sub Zero. Installed one part; D111 Filter (per invoice) that costs $12 (Google ?D111 Filter?), soldered a few connections and injected Freon. Done in 40 minutes. Presented me a shocking bill for $486 dollars. I emailed them and they called. Not only rude, but stated you need a special license to repair a Sub-Zero, and specialty parts only available from Sub Zero were used. After the fact, informed me conversation was recorded and would sue if a negative comment was filed. Googled ?D111 Filter? again (still $12), went to state licensing website (no special license required for Sub Zero repairs), and checked the rules on taping conversations (consent from the other party is needed). When informed of their falsehoods and improper activity, again threatened me. Been told by others repair should have been $120 max. All I wanted was a good job at a fair price. Who needs the rip-off, lies, taped conversations & registered letters containing threats of litigation when you ask for a fair deal?

This customer refused to have my technician out to evaluate the unit and I have email, dispatch and phone records to substantiate our effort to evaluate what he claims faulty workmanship. Claiming there is a problem with the repair is in my opinion a ploy to try to reverse the charges on his credit card, otherwise, why refuse service. We completed a sealed system repair on a Subzero refrigerator. Any sealed system repair for refrigeration involves freon and thus requires special training and licensing. Subzero refrigerators are high end units that also require special training and extensive experience to service. This customer acknowledges we soldered connections and recharged with freon but fails to acknowledge this is part of our parts costs. The repair work was authorized and within industry standards for the work performed. This customer has not provided any written estimates from any reputable company to support his claims he was overcharged. I did advise this customer his calls were being recorded as I do any customer that engages in threatening and abusive or vulgar language. We tape our conversations to protect our company. We have not engaged in any "falsehoods or improper activity". This customer received same day service for a specialty product, the unit was repaired on the spot and he was charged a fair price for the services rendered. Again, his credit card company refused to reverse the charges on his credit card and the negative reviews are a continued falsehood and effort to defraud my company.

Eric was very professional and promptly went to work having me actually look at the problem so that I could see what was happening when the filter was removed. He quoted the price which I felt was very reasonable and went promptly to work completing the process in a very short time. He had me use the water dispenser while he checked to make sure there were no further leaks. I was very pleased with the work and was happy to learn that this company works on all types of appliances. I will definitely use this company when another appliance repair is needed. From my experience, they deserve the highest award of Angie's list displayed on their page.

techician immediately diagnosed exactly what was wrong. he offered the option of repairing the unit by using replacement parts from a newer ice maker kit rather than ordering and installing an older part. This was less expensive and better as the older unit types were prone to breaking down. as a repeat customer and angie's list referral, we got a 10% discount. the entire process took less than 30 minutes and we had plenty of ice for the labor day weekend.

I certainly apologize for any missed appointments but cannot verify as to why this would have happened due to time lapse. Typically if we miss an appointment it's because the customer does not answer the contact phone number when my techncian calls to verify the address and get directions. It's also possible misinformation was dispatched but I could not confirm that in our records nor could my technician remember any details several weeks after the fact.

They were great. They were amazing. I called them at 9 pm at night and they were here at 9 am the next morning just like they said they would be. They had the diagnosis made in 5 minutes; it was just amazing. The guy told me that he could charge me $165 to stand there in the air conditioning to defrost the problem or I could pay $9.95 for a service call and let it defrost. He was just great. They were wonderful because he knew immediately what it was.

The entire experience was a impressive and professional. Scheduled servicing for my refrigerator with an icemaker not working and food freezing in the refrigerator. Eric (technician) called on his way to the appointment to confirm the presence of someone at the house. He arrived at the appointed time, listened while I explained the symptoms, knew immediately what the problem was and explained it to me detailing how this particular refrigerator model worked and why I was seeing twhat I was seeing. He reassured me the icemaker was likely okay and that the parts I needed would have to be ordered and require a return visit. He MacGyvered a temporary solution to my problem and scheduled the return appointment. As previously, he called on his way to the house, arrived on time, replaced the parts and showed me the defective parts. He then explained, in detail, what I should expect in the next 24-48 hours with possible temperature fluctuations while the refrigerator got back to a normal temperature. He also recommended holding off buying food until the refrigerator settled into its normal operation to avoid any food loss while it readjusted. He was spot on with his assessment and I can't say enough good things about his professionalism, knowledge and willingness to educate me. I now have my fully functional, energy-efficient (with a properly regulated temperature) refrigerator back. I would not hesitate to use All Area Appliance Service again and have recommended them to friends.
Description of Work: Scheduled Saturday servicing for my refrigerator when the icemaker stopped working and the refrigerator side kept freezing food. Eric quickly diagnosed the problem, acquired the replacement parts and returned to replace the damper assembly on the refrigerator and replaced the flapper door on the freezer compartment to return my refrigerator to a fully-functional energy-efficient appliance.

Based on Angie's List reviews, we contacted All Area. The phone was answered immediately by a live human being (yay). They were kind enough to give a range of cost, and the appointment was scheduled all within just a few minutes. There was a 2 hour window given for the visit and repair, which I thought was fair to us and considerate of our time. The tech called prior to visit, saying it would be 20 minutes. 20 minutes was more like 30-40, but no complaints here given how service calls from most companies are nowhere near as accurate usually. He was very quick, polite and professional, even showing us what was wrong before he put the oven back together. The oven has been perfect since. We will definitely use them again when needed.
Description of Work: Gas smell coming from oven, wouldn't come to temp. AGL came and turned off the valve to the stove and told us it was a bad igniter or glow bar. The igniter was replaced by All Area.

They say 'CHARGES A FLAT RATE. FREE SERVICE CALL WITH REPAIR, $9.95 WITHOUT REPAIR.' on their Angies list profile. Called Carrie to schedule a service call. Explained to her what the problem was with the refrigerator. Apparently she did not make a note of the problem and did not convey to the technician what the problem was. When the technician showed up, he did not even check the refrigerator, wanted his money before saying anything. After he was paid, he wanted me to pay him another $250.00 to fix what he thought was wrong. But did not want to tell me what was wrong and why the certain part he was recommending to be changed needed to be changed. His quote was "We do not diagnose the problem we do repair". Never using them again.

$9.95

Response from All Area Appliance Service
I personally scheduled this appointment and advised this customer prior to scheduling the appointment that we charge $9.95 to provide a repair cost ONLY. Once the repair is authorized, we will advise what is wrong with the unit. Obviously we do not make any money from a $9.95 service call but understand that appliances can often be more cost effective to replace. That is why we offer the $9.95 service call and still make that service call Free with repair. I was very explicit about how our services are rendered prior to scheduling this appointment and this customer was not even charged a service call despite my technician following company policy. This was a tenant situation and the person posting this review was not present at the property during the repair appointment. This customer had another service company out who did not repair the refrigerator and thus her frustration. I did advise this customer when scheduling the appointment that based on the symptoms, the unit had a defrost problem and my technician confirmed this and provided a repair cost. We make every effort to provide clarity about how our services are rendered and obviously this customer did not understand despite my explicit explanation which is why our $9.95 Service Call was waived.

I was very impressed with the service. They were out the same day that I called, and came back the next morning to complete the repair (unusual part was needed). They called multiple times to let me know what time he would be there and were very easy to deal with. The repair man (Eric) was extremely polite and professional, and just overall a good guy. The final price came in just below the estimate they gave me when I initially called (and much lower than others that I called). I will use them again if the need arises and I would definitely recommend them to you!

I found this company on Angie's list. I called on a Sunday and they scheduled me for the next day. The lady on the phone was nice and helpful. Eric showed up on time and was extremely friendly and professional . He fixed a problem with my dryer and replaced my ice maker and a clogged water value behind the refrigerator. My refrigerator is located back in a very tight location. We had to remove a piece of wall trim mold to get the unit out. Eric was very helpful in helping and spent close to an hour assisting me getting the unit in and out of the space. He truly went beyond the call of duty. He was very honest in his evaluations of what was wrong with my appliances and did not try to sell any additional services which would have run up the bill. The price was very fair for the 3 hours he spent at my home. I would highly recommend this company and plan on using them again myself.
