Empire Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. was founded in 1985 and is an independent dealer for American Standard, Amana, Daikin, Bradford White and many more product lines. We solve heating, cooling, water heating and indoor air quality problems for our customers. Our technicians have earned the Angie's List Super Service Award 15 times. Our main office is located in Decatur, Georgia with a satellite office in Cumming, Georgia to serve the greater north Atlanta area. We service, install, and repair all makes and models of heating and air conditioning equipment including ductless systems and heat pumps. To maintain our high standards, all of our senior technicians are NATE certified. Together, our team has more than 200 years heating and air conditioning experience. Empire performs background checks, random drug tests and even personality profiles along with continuous customer service training to ensure you have a pleasant and worry-free experience. We are active in the contracting community and participate with the Air Conditioning Contractors of America, Conditioned Air Association of Georgia, MAACA, ASHRAE and other professional organizations to stay on top of the issues that concern you. Description of Work: I purchased a routine annual maintenance on my furnace. We were also experiencing a leak with the condensate pump. The maintenance was performed and quote provided for the replacement of the condensate pump. I felt the quote was pretty high for the pump, but given the tech was already on site, I accepted the quote and the service was performed. The timeliness was excellent. The service tech was extremely polite and answered all of my questions.

This is a great time to discuss refrigerant leaks. They are certainly one of the most challenging items to deal with and communicate. There were two systems at this location and both were low on refrigerant. We have no history on the units as this is our first visit and none was offered on site. The units are older however age cannot be verified as labels on the units are faded beyond legible. The decision was made to charge the units and approved on site. The options are pretty limited you either charge the units to work for an indefinite period of time as we don't know how severe the leaks are. Don't charge the units and have no cooling or risk damage from operating undercharged, Do a full leak search to find and repair the leaks. Install a sealant that can often but not always seal smaller leaks or replace the units. Our technician charged each unit and verified proper operation at that time. On the invoice he clearly noted that the units had a refrigerant leak, that sealant was available and could be a possibility for solving the problem and that refrigerant added without a full leak search and repair was not guaranteed. He further noted that due to age and condition consideration of unit replacement is advised. I am not aware of a better way to communicate the options available under these circumstances and would welcome any and all suggestions. We are service contractors and as such take our responsibility seriously. Our aim is to put the provide the best information available on all the options to resolve a problem and then perform per your request. These repairs were made at the lowest cost option in order to provide cooling. If you would like to replace the units and get higher efficiency, greater comfort, more dependable operation and extended parts and labor warranties I recommend you call us now during our White Sale promotion and I will personally see to it that savings are greater than the $411.00 that you invested to keep your old units running.
