James was a pleasure to work with. Not only did he have to complete a job that another contractor failed to, but he did so for a fair price and in the time frame he said he would. He left the site clean and even took additional material left by the other contractor to the dump for me. Great customer service and quality of work. I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

James Hogan went out of his way to build our Deck and Patio Landing. He was very thorough on detail and sent tons of example pictures for us to review. After he built the 12'X16' deck My wife and I decided we would prefer a 16'X16' Deck. James did not bat an eye and gave us a very reasonable price. He did not cut any corners and used only quality material. I would hire him again in a heartbeat! Very reasonable and down to earth Contractor. He is as good as the get in my eyes! James crew all worked together like a well oiled machine!

James was prompt, reasonably priced, and did an excellent job! We had at least 3 other people come to make a quote and they either never made a quote or made one so high it was obvious they didn t want to do the job. James returned an immediate quote, began the job within days, and finished quickly, leaving an repaired porch and happy customers.

I wish they would allow you to post pictures because the work JAMES did was worth 10 stars! We had 3 decks that surrounded 3 sides of our in ground pool area that was in bad need of repair. James came in and repaired the existing decking and did such a fantastic job that we decided to keep going! We added another (large) deck along the 4th side of our pool area. James is honest, a true carpenter - he has attention to detail like no one else! He puts these little touches on everything he does that makes everything look awesome! He and his team are extremely easy to work with, very clean and neat, and boy do they know their craft! If you need wood work done - LOOK NO FURTHER! If you need a professional deck contractor - CALL JAMES! I had an unfortunate experience with someone who did not deliver a quality deck replacement. The frustration of trying to find the RIGHT person for the repairs for THAT job ended when I found James. He is THE BEST! His pricing is competitive and his expertise is phenomenal. He is professional, personable and he kept me informed through the entire process. I only wish I had found him sooner. James is a hard worker who took extra steps in preparation to be sure our re-decking was level. He treats his projects like they were his own. I would recommend him, and he was competitively priced.

James is my hero! The new deck, with the underdeck system and new lighting, as well as the new upstairs storm door, is absolutely beautiful! They did a fabulous job and under budget. AND, he completely wowed my 83-year-old Mom, who lives in the apartment on the lower level of our home, and can be somewhat difficult. (The underdeck is her front porch roof.) In her words, "It is the most beautiful deck I have ever seen!" Great job, James!

There was bad weather during the work and Better Build worked even though the conditions were not ideal. The work site was kept neat and clean.

Quality workmanship, professional and attentive to details. Described what would be included with the estimate, and exceed my expectations with the finished project. It is rare that you find someone that cares for your property as much as you do, but James demonstrated this throughout the entire project. I don't write many reviews but I need to now. James was hired for a deck rebuild , and when it was all said and done, I have the best and most solid looking deck in the neighborhood. The workmanship that was thought out and professionalism the entire job was outstanding. James does all his own work so need to worry about many different contractors doing piecework. I am enjoying my deck every time I step out on it and so are my neighbors. Give James a call if your even thinking about a deck , you will not regret it.

Project was a new two tier elevated walkway from the garage connecting to the existing porch. When I called for an estimate James called back the same day and came by the next day. Pays attention to detail and thinks things through before taking action. “Close enough” is not acceptable, only "Spot on" will do and the completed work shows it. Very tolerant of helicopter homeowners Would recommend James and would definitely use again as needed.
