Description of Work: They sprayed closed-cell foam insulation on the sub-floor in the crawlspace under my house. Their service was timely, efficient and they left no mess. The insulation is performing extremely well. I turned the furnace off overnight a few nights ago when the outside temperature dropped to 32 degrees. The inside temperature dropped only five degrees, from 67 to 62. The interior of the house is also noticeably much drier than it was before application of the foam spray. For the last few weeks I've been turning the furnace off every night before going to bed.

It took several calls just to get an estimate set up. After they came out the emailed estimate was not for what I wanted but to do a large amount of work for my entire house. I emailed and called back several times and got no response when requesting an estimate for the work I wanted done. I guess they are a good company if you will just agree to what they want to do. I did not want to spend $3000 on whole house insulation so they were not a good fit for me.
Description of Work: I did not have services done because the company refused to give me an estimate for the work I wanted done after repeated phone calls.

Everything was as expected. Very courteous and professional. We had tenants living in the house at the time the service was performed and Bird Family worked with their and our schedule. Overall, a really great experience.

They are a very helpful and friendly company, work efficiently, and clean up after themselves. We had a very positive experience and would recommend their services to others.
Description of Work: We live in a new home which did not have insulation in certain parts of the attic, and inadequate insulation in other parts. Bob Bird came out and gave us an estimate for what needed to be done (as well as lots of other helpful advice about our heating/cooling systems). Then they came out and blew the insulation in, cleaned up and were done.

Bob Bird, the owner was quite the problem-solver. He was professional and showed integrity. I could tell he really enjoys his work. He explained things well and I liked his manners. He even built an extra enclosure to cut down on the heating costs. The price sure was right for everything he did.

This is a great family business. They made one small mistake and I tried to pay them, but they would not take my money. The vent didn't go up to my attic like it should have. When they came back to do the work, it was on a weekend. They said they were responsible for the mistake and would not take my money. I thought that was so nice. He was so apologetic. He put an extension on it and everything. I really had to call them twice to thank them and say I wanted to give them money. They finally sent me a bill for like twenty bucks. I called back again and said that would not even cover the labor. I love these guys.
Description of Work: My attic was re-insulated by this company. My house is 2900 square feet. It was built in 1963 and had never been insulated, so they did have quite a bit of work to do.

Bob came out to give an estimate and unlike the previous contractors he spent ALOT of time going over the house with a fine tooth comb. He was super courteous and friendly and answered any questions we had. He sent us a quote a couple of days later that fully detailed all of the work. It was separated into sections so we could pick and choose what we wanted to have done. His crew of 5 full time workers (no day laborers!) showed up right on time at 8AM and worked through to completion. They were friendly and tried to stay out of the way as much as they could. When they were done they cleaned up, put everything back in the attic and Bob gave us a tour of everything they had done. Our house was a foreclosure that needed some work when we bought it so I've dealt with a number of contractors over the last few months and I must say that Bob and his team are far and away the BEST group of people I have worked with. You might find less expensive but you won't find better. A++++++++++!!!
Description of Work: We had ZERO insulation to start with in a large 1920's 3/2 craftsman cottage with a kitchen addition. Bird Family did the following - Attic Insulation: Exposed metal AC/ Heating boots insulated AC/Heating ducts dropped from suspended positions and covered with cellulose Exposed AC/Heating ducts re-insulated where existing duct-wrap is missing AC/Heating system inspected and seams, junctures, gaps sealed Wire or foam installed in fascia board gaps Insulate attic to R-49 Custom, insulated "attic tent" bonnet Attic Ventilation: 10' ridge vent in main attic with accompanying "turtle-back" roof vent installed Install approximately 12-14 soffit vents Crawlspace: Seal floor penetrations (plumbing, etc.) Insulate water heater and hot water pipes Properly install condensate line to drain outside of foundation wall Weatherization: install premium weather-strips and floor sweeps to all three exterior doors.

Very impressed. As other folks have mentioned, Bob came and did a very thorough inspection of our home with me before sending a quote. Did an excellent job of explaining the scope of the work, and why he was doing what he was doing. We were thrilled to learn that we could scratch "rat proofing" off our home project to-do list when Bob told us he felt confident that his work might serve double duty on the rat issue. If it does, he saved us an additional $1500! (He explained that the blown insulation we used contains boric acid, which deters all pests. They won't want to come back now.) The only issue was contractors didn't show on the day agreed to. When I called to check and see where they were, I was given an honest, apologetic answer that was easy to forgive. When the crew showed up 2 days later on the newly-scheduled day, they handed me a very sincere apology letter from the young woman who made the mistake and a $50 Starbucks card. Excellent customer service recovery!

I could not have been more pleased with this company. Mr. Bird was very professional and extremely courteous. After explaining everything he felt was important to correct he made sure I fully understood what work would be done and why. It's been a month since they were at my home and we can tell a BIG difference in the comfort level of our house - hopefully our power bills will be lower! If you want a company that wants to please its customers and returns calls in a timely manner (unlike another company I tried) this is a good choice. Very pleased! Must add - The entire Bird family is involved and you couldn't ask for better manners from their kids - very refreshing!
Description of Work: Insulated 4 scuttle doors going into attic space and installed door stop and weatherstripping. HVAC return duct removed and trunk line blocked and sealed. R-13 wall insulation added at bare spots in knee walls. Area between garage ceiling and bonus room had insulation blown in - also in the attic.

The two gentlemen assigned for this task arrived promptly as scheduled. Even though it was raining buckets. Made their introductions to us, and went right to work. Protective blankets were put down from the front entry door, up the stairs and covered the entire hall under attic pull down stairs. When the task was completed, both men stood outside dusting themselves free of the residue of the insulation. Then began the clean up. Carefully removing the protective pads and vacuuming the entire area with great care!
Description of Work: R-30 cellulose insulation was added to the existing attic insulation 1560 sq. feet, giving a total of R-38 throughout. Attic tent was installed to prevent drafts. Two protective chimneys were installed around two recessed lights. Scuttle door into attic from bedroom closet was rebuilt and insulated. Screen was attached to two gable vents. Wall duct supply in guest bedroom was insulated. Gang plank was installed in uppermost attic. In garage a 110v duplex receptacle was added.

Bob Bird came to give an estimate for adding insulation to my attic. He set a specific time, not a 4-5 hour window of time which seems the norm these days. He was on time, very professional, and enthusiastic about his company and the work they do. He answered all of my questions and explained the whole process in detail (including the additional work of adding an exhaust fan in the bathroom). Pete, Andrew, and Beau arrived to do the work on time and as scheduled with the new bathroom fixture I'd picked out. During the installation, Pete found that the old wiring in the bathroom was shorting out (stripped wires), so he rewired the whole fixture which has been working great. This delayed the insulation installation a bit, but everyone stayed positive and professional. It was obvious they enjoy working together. The insulation installation went very smoothly, and I've been completely satisfied with everything involved with this project. I'd recommend this company 100%!
Description of Work: Andrew and Beau added several inches of cellulose insulation to the existing attic insulation, bringing the R value from R15 to R38. They also created a styrofoam cover for the top of my attic access ladder to reduce heat loss through the thin plywood. Pete installed a bathroom light/exhaust fan, including the addition of new duct work and rewiring the entire fixture due to poor original wiring which was shorting out.

Went extremely well. They were on time, did the work we contracted them to do, and cleaned up very nicely, even folding the sheets we put down to protect the carpeting. We couldn't have asked for better performance.
Description of Work: The crew showed up on time with two trucks. The drivers did all the work. They unloaded the baffles for the soffit vents and installed them first. Then they added the exhaust fan extension and attic fan cover. When all this was in place they blew in cellulose insulation to an R-30 value. Finally they installed the attic door insulation "box."

Bob was right on time. He throughly checked the problems I was reporting out. I even got an education because I had some false assumptions about the attic insulation. The problem in the basement was only dirt and not mold, so that was a big relief. He advised us NOT to get the Attic insulation upgraded from an R30 to an R49 rating because of the limited return on investment that we would achieve. He checked out the duct work and the air exchange in the attic and found them to be working within specifications.

The estimate was clearly explained in detail by Bob Bird. The crew were on time, worked without delay and finished the job in 1/2 day. They were courteous and cleaned up the interior of the house. I believe the price was a fair value for the work that was done. Two small items needed a call-back to complete to my satisfaction. They were done by Mr. Bird without delay.

The group of people that came out to do the work from Bird were very friendly, kind, and dutiful. The work was done on time, exactly as quoted, and has so far met our needs. The Bird family was very responsive from the start of our inquiry to the completion of the work.
Description of Work: In my home we added three return air duct vents into our spare rooms on the upper second floor of our home along with adding additional insulation above and below the bedrooms over the garage to combat the heat rising from the garage. I am very happy with this job. Bob Bird came to the house and checked the attic and crawl space and utility room and gave me a detailed estimate. I had asked him to check the crawl space to see if I should have it insulated, and after inspecting it, he told me it wouldn't save me any money to have it insulated, which I appreciated. His crew arrived on time, covered my floors and carpeting, and finished the job early. They were courteous and worked hard.

This company is so friendly. The young lady who took my call and made the appointment was very nice and worked within my schedule. The company did not end up working for me. Why? Because when the owner came out and evaluated my home he said he didn't feel that insulation was really what I needed. He was so helpful; even after he realized that I would not be a customer, he took the time to explain to me what I could do to solve my problems. These are really nice and honest people; I would not hesitate to call on them again.

Bob is friendly and easy to work with. The two guys who came out to do the work were on-time, exceedingly polite and efficient and cleaned up after themselves. They were very thorough - lifting up ductwork and spraying insulation under (where there had been none previously. They also crawled back into a hard-to-get-to area we didn't know about where the builder's insulation team hadn't insulated and took care of that area too. They also created 'chimneys' to protect can lights in ceiling and added an attic door tent. All work was done for the price quoted. I HIGHLY recommend these guys.

After a little screw up with scheduling, Bob had showed up immediately the next day and was very apologetic. He verified that there was no insulation above the master bedroom and bathroom. The appointment was scheduled first thing the next morning. The nice thing is Bob had mentioned they don't work or want to work for construction companies; they only work for homeowners. Meaning, they take more care of there equipment to not track dirt through your house from construction sites. Padding and blankets were laid to protect your house. On top of it all, they had gave me a free pack of energy efficient bulbs. The crew, when completed, asks you to look over their work to make sure you are satisfied, and if not, they will stay until you are. Bob and his crew guarantee you will be satisfied with the job or you won't owe them a penny. I would definitely hire them again, its just too bad the insulation is going to last a long time to hire them any time soon.
Description of Work: The Bird crew had cut access holes in my attic to insulate over the top of the master bedroom and bathroom. They had also cut an additional hole to help ventilate the air between the two compartments of the attic. Raised the insulation level from the basic certification level to the recommended levels.
