Was not able to do the work.

Everything was so precise and exact. There was nothing which was not a square. He did a fantastic job.

I felt he kind of rushed through it and did not finish the job in a timely manner. I was not pleased with the countertops at all and still not. I really don't think that it was his fault. I think it was the sub contractors who didn't finish it properly. We got a genesis granite countertop and the finishing was not proper. There are rough places. It is not fully smooth and there are places which still pop of. I am not pleased at all. He did not coordinate with me for the faucet and in the middle of the job, he got another big deal. So he was off for a couple of days and went to do the other job. I was not pleased with that either. Usually he does great work, but I didn't like the way he handled it this time.

We only got a quote. We used a different contractor. They seemed reasonable. I liked another contractor better.

Derrick honored the appointment dates and times and kept us updated as the project continued. And, followed up after the project was completed. He added tile walls and heated tile floors to walk-in shower and rest of bathroom floor in the master bathroom. He also replaced 2nd bathroom floor with tile. He added 3 electrical outlets and corrected 3 outlet/electrical switch problems. He removed and discarded all old items - bathtub, flooring. He worked within the budget and timing he initially provided. He was very personable, responsible, and honest. I felt very comfortable having him in our home.

The project was a success. We have received nothing but compliments from everyone on the finished project, and the kitchen is so much more functional than before. Derrick was reasonable in price, timeline, and allowing us to things like demo and painting, etc. to save on cost. He showed up on time (early every morning) every day, and he and his crew worked diligently throughout the day. They were polite and well-mannered, with no foul language or lewdness (important as I have young children who were home throughout the whole thing). I don't think they smoked. The kitchen was gutted and the layout completely changed. He installed new plumbing, new electrical, rerouted air ducts, installed a vent hood, new cabinets, sink, etc. The work took about 2 months, which is longer than predicted, but that had to do with the granite countertops being late and not Derrick's schedule. We had only a couple of minor issues, which he came back out and fixed immediately. The first thing he did was build the new deck, which he wisely convinced me to do 16x16 rather than 16x12. Then he realized as he was building the stairs that the normal-width stairs weren't going to look right with the deck, so he made the change to a wider stair, and he was absolutely right. He helped me figure out how to do the tile backsplash so that it looked right with the cabinets, and I am really pleased with his work. Since we didn't employ the services of a designer or project manager, Derrick was essential in helping guide us through the decisions that we didn't know we'd have to make. He was perfectly agreeable to the use of alternative materials like plywood planks we cut for flooring. When it's time to gut the hall bath renovate it, I hope that he is available to do that work, too. The only thing that I wish I had done different, since I was doing the painting, is that I wish that I had said no to MDF and stuck with wood for the shelving. Now that it's all painted, you can't tell the difference, and it looks and functions great, but MDF is much more complicated to paint for a novice. The $30,000 price tag is for the whole project - appliances, cabinets, materials, labor, etc. I don't remember the breakdown.

Derrick and Scott examined the shower stall that had already been prepped with DensShield? backer board, a rubber moisture shield and other components. Derrick listened carefully to our vision of the shower, checked the ceramic tile, bullnose tile and marble mosaic materials purchased by us, and explained how the tile could be set to accomplish the desired look. After we had agreed on a price Derrick said that work could begin in one week. The team finished the job in just over one day. Some work started on the first day had to dry overnight before the next phase could be completed. The company provided high quality work. The owner, Derrick, really seemed to know his business and was able to explain the ?why?s? and ?how?s? to our satisfaction. Watching the work in progress really was a reminder that tile setting is as much an art as a craft! One very pleasing factor in dealing with Derrick is that he returned the initial phone call immediately. Most companies took as much as two weeks to return calls if they returned them at all.

Everything went well. Pleasant and professional demeanor. Crew was late one day, but given the distance they had to travel and quality of work, easily forgiven.

The final product on both bathroom remodeling jobs was excellent.
