Called Universal Plumbing explained that my mother had purchased a new house and we needed them to take a look at a few things that might need to be repaired as well as the cost of replacing 2 toilets. We were told they would arrive between 2pm and 5pm. We were not told of any charges for him to come out and take a look. Waited all that time at the new house and they never showed up. They did call about 15 minutes before they were supposed to arrive and leave a message on my home phone (not the new house) to call them back. Called them the next day to ask why they didn't show up. They said they always call before going to location. I told them they didn't explain that to me when I called to make the appointment and that we had waited for 3 hours on them to show up. They did arrive the next day as promised and walked through the house. Was told that our plumbing was fine and that we really didn't need a repair except for a faucet handle. Wasn't quoted on the faucet handle. Was quoted $185 just to install each toilet. Was also quoted $135 each drain (yes each drain in each sink) to just unclog a slow running sink. A little overpriced. The plumber didn't do anything and we told him we would do the toilet install. Called later in the day to let them know we didn't want the toilets installed after all but did want him to come out and repair the faucet handle and I asked how much that was going to be. I was told they didn't know. I was then told that days visit was $65. I told them he didn't do anything. I was told that if I had gone through with the toilet install that they wouldn't charge the $65 for that day's visit, but since we didn't have a repair then they would charge us the $65. I then asked what it costs to repair a faucet handle and if I was going to have to pay another $65 for them to come out to repair the faucet handle as well as for the repair of the faucet handle. They wouldn't give me an answer and said they were going to have to call me back after they spoke with the actual plumber. They have never called back. I expect that if I call a plumber that they tell me up front that they call before they show up so that I can give them a number where I can be reached so I don't have to sit all day waiting on them. I expect to be told up front of any charges to expect even if they don't do a repair and I also expect them to call back. Not the best experience from a plumber.

After renovating a bathroom, we discovered that the shower valves were leaking and that the diverter was not functioning. Rookie mistake (!). It appeared that the assembly connecting the valves and diverter back in the wall was malfunctioning. We were hoping a plumber would have some "magical tool" that would allow us to fix the issue without opening up this newly renovated (!) room. We called Universal Plumbing who scheduled an estimate the same day. They told us up front there was a fee ($65) for the estimate that would be applied to the bill if we ended up having work done. The plumber arrived as scheduled and was very polite and professional. He assessed the situation and determined that we would indeed have to open up the walls and replace internal piping. He called his home office to get a price for the work and we were STUNNED at the estimate he returned with. Close to $600 to fix a shower valve!!! We assumed it would be closer to half that (which we even thought was highway robbery, but somewhat expected since we know plumbing is expensive). Of course at this point we are $65 in and need the repair done as soon as possible. I think they were very aware of our predicament and took advantage of it. We could have shopped around and priced it for less, but there we were stareing at a plumber who had the materials and the time. We called the office to get an itemized explaination for the charges and to negotiate the estimate, but were told the price was fixed and beyond their control. Despite the fact that we KNEW we were getting seriously overcharged, we proceeded with the repair. Our choice, but we were not pleased. The plumber was there for about an hour, did a very good job, and ended up charging us $50 less that the original estimate. Thank you (much appreciated), but does that mean there is some pricing control after all?Once again; extremely fast fast with an estimate, the plumber himself was very nice and efficient, the problem was fixed to our satisfaction, all top marks...but we just can't get over the price.

The process was quick and rather simple. When the installer met me at our appointment I wanted to clear up a couple of items not discussed in the original bid. We got those items cleared up and I asked him when he could perform the work. He said now if you want and my question was do drive around with these water heaters in your truck, he replied that the company has personnel who will deliver the unit to the installer and have it to him in a short period of time. I said, please begin today. Within less than two hours, the old was gone and the new was installed ready to make 40 gallons of hot water.

Couldn't have been better. They were at the house within 30 minutes (beat me there), and had the faucet fixed and the shower running in 30 minutes. I was extremely happy.

It was good and I was satisfied. They were good, they were timely and I thought their price was reasonable.

I used them several times over the last thirty years. They worked with me regarding the price. The price, responsiveness, and professionalism are great. I would use them again in the future.

I had a leak coming from the water faucet on the side of my house. It was coming through the wall and soaking my bedroom carpet. I called Universal around 8:00am and was given a time they would come out. They called back a little later and said they had someone that could come earlier. The technician arrived around 9:00 and the problem was fixed in 45 minutes, He cut a hole in my wall ( my home was built on a slab) and showed me where the builder had pierced the water tubing with a nail when the siding was put up. He cut the damaged tube and replaced it with a new tube section using 2 couplings. He was very polite and explained the problem. I did think the price of $239.52 for 45 minutes was high, however, since they reponded so quickly and saved me more damage to my carpet I gladly paid it. The bill was not itemized so I couldn't tell if they charged a "quick response fee" or not. I would definately use them again for an emergency plumbing problem. I'm sure I could not have gotten a quicker repsonse from any other plumber in this area. For a non-emergency problem I will call around to check pricing first or at least find one that has maybe an Angie's List or a senior discount available.,

They were very professional and stand behind their work. They do a great job and they are very competitive with their work. I always use them when I have a major problems with plumbing.

Overall both cases was very well taken care of. He came out on time assessed the cause and explained everything, so I could understand. The price was good also both times. I am completely satisfied.

The call to the company was professional and very pleasant. A timeframe for the service was established for a particular day. There was no hurry in the replacement of the toliet so it was scheduled several days in the future. On the day of the scheduled service which was 10 am to noon, no one showed or called. Knowing that plumbing work can take longer when the work order is being taken by an office staff member, I felt that an hour or so was reasonable to allow for being past the scheduled time. After 2 hours I called and the staff member was apologetic - as the appointment was documented but recorded on the days schedule. She called one of the trucks and found a plumber that could be at the house within an hour. The plumber was excellent, friendly and apologetic - he told me that family college students who were home for holidays probably took the call and did not get the work on an appointment scheduler. I asked for a discount and received a $25.00 reduction in the total bill.

I called the office about 8:00 a.m. and told them that the supply to the toilet tank was leaking and needed to be fixed. The lady told me the repairman could be there the same day between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. I said that that would be fine. She called me back about 10 minutes later and said someone could come right then. The man came in less than an hour, I showed him what needed to be fixed, he made the repairs. Everything from initial call to completed repair was about one hour.

Great! Not a problem. Clean up his mess and he is going to come back and fix my sink.

They were very efficient. The technician was Wayne and he ran a video and searched in the house to determine the problem. He had to get in the piping to determine the problem. We couldn't afford to do it so we had to go with a less expensive group. He told us what we needed and gave me advice. I was very pleased with him. It was a good price and it was probably pretty fair but it was more than the landowner wanted to pay. I liked them and I would call them again. The landowner had a handyman that would under price anyone to do the work. The work included breaking up concrete and excavating to do the work, which the handyman was unqualified to do. He was very thorough in doing the video and giving us the quote for the work. I thought the price for the video was a little extreme but I think it was comparable for the video. I did have two other plumbers come out and they were comparable to do the video. Wayne was very professional.

They were wonderful. They came to fix a leak and found another problem. They were very clear about the problem and completed the work in a timely manner. They checked other areas of the home at no additional costs and answered all my questions. I was very pleased.

The job went very well overall. The plumber (Gene) was very courteous and professional. The job was estimated to take 1-1/2 days, but problems surfaced (ex. backhoe broke; city improperly located street tap and driveway had to be cut) and it took a couple of days longer with no extra cost. Job was estimated at a flat rate and work was performed satisfactorily at that rate.

They said a flat rate. He replaced part of the pipe. He was too expensive. He kept digging and I kept telling him there was a leak.

The plumber arrived at my house exactly when he said he would and I described that my toilet was leaking in the master bathroom. He looked at it and explained that, more than likely, the wax seal on the toilet had been compromised and that I needed to have it replaced. He also explained that it would be a good idea to replace everything because of the period of time it had been leaking. He explained the best way to do the repair that was the least expense to me. When he performed the repair, it was the wax seal that had been leaking. I was very happy with his performance, his knowledge and his honesty. It's hard to find honesty these days and I really appreciated it. He performed the repair and cleaned up after himself. He also took all the trash out.The plumber was very knowledgeable and was able to diagnose the problem and fix it in a short amount of time. I am very pleased with Universal Plumbing and I would definitely recommend them to anyone and I will call them next time I need plumbing work done.
